Did you know that only a third of the emissions reductions required to achieve the country's 2030 target are currently covered by credible plans? As a result, we can expect to see more mandatory and voluntary regulations that require carbon emissions reporting to verify your ESG and net zero claims. In this episode, Mel closes out the ESG Reporting Disclosures series by explaining what Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) is, it's key emissions reporting requirements, the verification requirements and who qualifies for CSDDD. You'll learn ·      What is CSRD? ·      Key requirements of CSDDD ·      Key emissions reporting requirements ·      the emissions verification requirements for CSRD? ·      Who qualifies for CSDDD? ·      The likely impact of CSDDD   Resources ·      Carbonology ·      Carbonology LinkedIn ·       Carbonology Instagram ·       CSDDD   In this episode, we talk about: [00:30] Join the isologyhub – To get access to a suite of ISO related tools, training and templates. [03:10] What is CSDDD? – The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) is a new EU directive that promotes sustainable and responsible corporate behaviour in companies' operations and across their global value chains. Purpose: It aims to promote sustainable business practices, protect human rights, and address environmental challenges. The CSDDD was adopted by the European Commission on the 23rd of February 2022 and approved by the Council of the European Union on the 24th of May 2024. The new rules ensure that companies in scope identify and address adverse human rights and environmental impacts of their actions inside and outside Europe. The CSDDD is expected to start affecting companies from 2027 at the earliest once the directive has been transposed into national legislation. [05:10] What are the key requirements of CSDDD?: ·      Human rights due diligence: Companies must identify, prevent, and mitigate adverse human rights impacts within their value chains. ·      Environmental due diligence: They must assess and manage risks related to climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. ·      Disclosure obligations: Companies must disclose their due diligence processes, findings, and any remedial actions taken. [06:20] What are the Emissions Reporting Requirements? Under the CSDDDD, companies are required to report on their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions within a climate transition plan. This includes considerations for Scope 1, 2 and 3. These were explained in more detail in a previous episode on CSRD, so go check that out if you want to learn more about the individual scope requirements. What if you fit the requirements of both CSRD and CSDDD, do you have to double report on emissions? In short – No! The climate transition plan required by the CSDDD will be reported within CSRD reporting, as organisations just need to adhere to the CSDDD's implementation requirements for the transition plan. [10:10] What are the Emissions Verification Requirements? More definitive guidance on verification requirements is expected closer to 2027. Companies will more than likely need to verify the emissions data reported through CSDDD, as the directive mandates a climate change transition plan that aligns with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which does require companies to verify their emissions data. [09:55] Who qualifies for CSDDD? The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) applies to both EU and non-EU companies depending on their workforce size and revenue: EU and non-EU companies (or the ultimate parent company of a group):   ·      With more than 1,000 employees and a global net turnover of at least €450 million in the last fiscal year; or ·      Which have franchising or licensing agreements in the EU in return for royalties with more than €22.5 million generated by royalties in the EU and have a net worldwide turnover of over €80 million in the last financial year. [11:10] What is the possible impact of this new directive? Similar to the other ESG disclosures I've covered over the past few weeks in this series on reporting disclosures, the impact of the CSDDD will result in 3 key impacts:- ·      Increased transparency: This directive will provide stakeholders with a clearer picture of companies' sustainability efforts, to combat greenwashing. ·      Enhanced accountability: Companies will be held accountable for their environmental and social performance. ·      Stimulation of sustainable business practices: The directive will encourage companies to adopt more sustainable practices, including regular reporting. The Second Phase Podcast - Personal Branding & Brand Marketing and Life Strategies for Success for Female Entrepreneurs

Growing a successful online business as an entrepreneur can feel daunting and overwhelming. But if you follow these 5 tips you can grow an online business, with more ease and less stress. You can start and grow an online business without feeling so overwhelmed The online world is inundated with people sharing tips on how to grow an online business. But a lot of times, those tips aren't applicable to everyone, they aren't accessible to everyone starting out, or, they are confusing and hard to do alone. By the way, no one is meant to grow a successful business alone. We all need someone to help us and guide us and hold us accountable for intentional action. But, even before hiring a business coach, you can take steps to grow an online business without feeling like you are climbing a mountain with no lifeline. Let's take a look at how my 5 C's of personal branding can be applied to help you grow an online business Clarity is the first step to take to successfully grow an online business If you want to start and grow an online business, you must have clarity. When you have clarity, you have more confidence. And when you have more confidence you also trust yourself more. Likewise, when you have clarity and confidence and trust yourself, your soulmate clients are going to have clarity be confident, and trust you. So where do you begin to discover clarity? Purpose It starts with knowing your purpose and what you can do to truly make an impact and serve others. If you make a list of your values, visions, and passions you will see overlap in the three. Where that overlap occurs, you will discover your purpose. That thing that you can do to feel fulfilled, but also make an impact and serve others. Soulmate client Once you have clarity around your purpose, it's time to discover who your soulmate client is. Who are the people you feel called to serve? What specifically do the people need from you? Know exactly what the problem is that people have and how you can help them with it. How you can help If you are struggling to identify how you can help people, look at what your purpose is and all of the experiences that have led you to where you are today. Your soulmate client is 10 steps behind you. That may look like 10 years, 5 years, 3 years, or a few months, but all of the experiences that you've grown through are what they are going through at this moment. Clarity means aligning with your values The key to clarity is aligning all you do with your values. Your purpose involves your values and therefore, if you want to connect with your soulmate clients to grow an online business, you must stay aligned with your values, your visions, and your passions. You must have clarity around your purpose, the impact you want to make, the service you can and want to provide, who you want to serve, how you will serve them, where and when you will serve them, and your mission for serving them, in other words, your why. Keep in mind that it is challenging to achieve clarity if you are struggling with mindset barriers. Similarly, if you aren't aligned with your values, you may feel more fear and anxiety which will result in procrastination. I can't emphasize enough how important having a positive mindset is to achieve clarity. Being Cohesive is the second thing you need to grow an online business When I talk about being cohesive, I am referring to your brand identity and your branding. Your personal brand is what others think, say, and feel about you. Branding is how you communicate what makes you unique from all others in your area of expertise. And your brand identity is your color palette, typography, and logo, identifying factors, but now what truly differentiates you. Click here to read more about the differences between a personal brand, branding, and brand identity. Become recognizable, memorable, and sharable to build trust to grow your online business In order to stand out and become recognizable, memorable, and sharable, you need to use all of these things cohesively from your website to your social media platforms. In order to grow an online business, you must have trust. Trust determines buying practices. The more recognizable, memorable, and sharable you are, the more people will trust you. Think about stopping the scroll on social media. You want people to see your content and immediately think, that's Jane, I love her and know she provides value so I don't want to miss this post. They stop and consume your content, and their trust in you grows. The third thing you need to grow an online business is consistency Consistency doesn't refer to the thickness of cake batter when talking about how to grow an online business but rather being consistent. Consistent messaging to grow an online business When talking about being cohesive I didn't mention your copy or messaging. These are very important and they do need to be cohesive, but they also need to be consistent. Every piece of content you create should be clear and consistent about what you do, who you serve, how you serve them, and why you serve them. You never what to confuse your audience. Confusion will break trust. And we know that confused people never buy. The more consistent you are with the content you create on your website and all other platforms, the more trust you will build. Consistently showing up for your audience helps grow an online business You also want to be present consistently. The best part about being present is that you get to choose what works best for you. Do you want to write a blog post once a month or once a week? How many times a week do you want to post on social media? What about emailing your subscribers? How often do you want to show up in their email inbox? You get to decide so that you can be consistent, showing up in a way that works for you. Following recommendations of people online is not necessarily going to work for you. Some people show up on social media multiple times a day. If that doesn't work for you and you can only show up 3 times a week, make that choice but stay consistent so that your audience knows when to expect you and can see that you are consistently showing up for them. The more consistent you are, the more trust you will build. In addition, the more consistent you are with your messaging, the more people will see you as an expert. The fourth tip to help you grow an online business is content. Your content will become the deal-breaker for your audience getting to know you, understanding what makes you unique from all others in your space, and building relationships. At the end of the day, your goal is to build trust. You build trust by building relationships. Your content from your website copy, blog posts, email marketing campaigns, and social media post is what will help you emotionally connect with your audience to build relationships and trust. People often dislike social media and the demand for creating content. However, if you look at creating content as an opportunity for developing relationships and building trust so that you can grow your online business it won't seem so daunting. Ultimately, your content is your branding. It is your effort to differentiate yourself, create an emotional connection with your audience, build relationships and community, and convert them to soulmate clients because they trust you. Repurposing content to make your life easier while you grow your online business In addition, repurposing content makes content creation easier. You can begin with a blog and repurpose the blog into multiple social media posts and an email to your audience. It takes people 7 to 20 times to see or hear something and remember it. This statistic is justification for repurposing your content to ensure that your audience gets to know you as the expert you are. Lastly, you need a community to grow an online business Your community begins with your family and friends. You might think they will get sick of hearing your messages or seeing you on social media, but they love you and want to support you, and will share you with their friends, neighbors, and extended family. Your community is not only a referral source but an opportunity for collaboration. The more you create opportunities for collaboration, the more your community will grow. For example, when you are a guest in someone's Facebook group, when you collaborate for an event when you collaborate for a social media post or guest on a podcast or blog, you are reaching a larger audience. The collaborator's audience will immediately trust you because the collaborator trusts you. As you develop relationships on social media and through networking, build your community and extend invitations for collaborations and joint referrals. Summary All of the Cs are connected and result in trust. Clarity builds confidence which builds trust. Being cohesive helps you become recognizable and memorable, which in turn helps people trust you. Consistency in messaging and presence builds also helps you become recognizable and memorable and is the key to meaningful content. Content is your gateway to developing relationships, differentiating yourself from all others in your space, and building trust and community. Your community is your fan base will who ultimately shares about you and hires you. Pastor Carlos Acts 12: 1-16 Read Acts 12:1-16 Injustice: Because they were preaching the gospel of Christ, the disciples were persecuted, punished, and some were killed. Purpose: It can be a bit difficult trying to find God's purpose during difficult situations. In Acts 12, the church was going through a very difficult situation. They realize that Peter is in prison, probably he can be dead soon. The church responds in prayer. Principles about prayer 1. Pray together (Acts 1:14) 2. Pray intensely (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) 3. Pray for others (John 17:21) 4. Pray to God (Isaiah 56:7) God's answer to the needs of the world's difficulties was his church, with a specific purpose to be a house of prayer. 2 Chronicles 7:14 "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Mine is no better than anybody else’s… When I was a young kid I went through some pretty intensive sexual abuse and that really, sort of… screwed my mind up quite a bit.” - Benjamin J HarveyBenjamin is very open about his childhood traumas of being a victim of sexual abuse. These incidents have made a devastating mark on his psyche, one he has fought throughout his youth. By the age of 20, he was regularly visiting psychiatrists and psychologists, seeking help to try and recollect his fragmented mind. His struggles culminated with him being admitted into a psychiatric ward. The experience itself was traumatic but the stigma of mental illness is so strong that he cites feeling an enormous amount of shame and guilt at that time, related to being held in a mental institution and diagnosed as bipolar with a borderline personality disorder.“Everyone’s wanting to live their love and to do what they love, but they don’t realize that what they truly love in life… has been given value by the traumas and the experiences they’ve been through.” - Benjamin J HarveyFor the next 5 and a half years of his life, Benjamin was severely medicated and struggling all-round. The real push and a defining moment that inspired the change came through a tragic event. One of his best friends from school had committed suicide and the news shook Benjamin to his very core. In the aftermath, he decided that he needed to take control of his own life and to take matters into his own hands. He gradually got off his medication all the while educating himself on meditation and personal transformation. The results of his efforts were astounding, embodied in the fact that he has been medication-free since 2002.“When I finally got on track and started doing what I love it was the most remarkable thing. My brain was no longer sending me feedback. It no longer had to tell me that I’m not on purpose.” - Benjamin J HarveyBenjamin discovered his love in the form of educating and coaching. He now shares his story without being riddled with shame and guilt but rather uses it as a tool to inspire and motivate others. He remembers he felt like the horrible things that happened to him were unique and that he was the only person struggling. By sharing his story, Benjamin is also making sure people who are suffering get a very important message - that they’re not alone. The Complex Nature of Purpose“It’s important that people realize that purpose is many things. Your purpose can be your love of swimming while you also enjoy your 1-on-1 coaching, but you also love reading a book… those many things will come in a hierarchy and you’ll work out that hierarchy eventually.” - Benjamin J HarveyBenjamin has a very compelling version of how the process of finding our purpose actually works. He proposes the idea that our mind has a unique way of showing us what we’re born to do. Benjamin continues to infer that if we’re doing what we love our mind can relax. These activities that, as he puts it, “silence the mind”, are responding and in line with our values which means that by doing them we’re actually fulfilling our purpose. Through all of this, we can understand that he is offering a new take on the idea of “purpose” by making it synonymous with presence.“If you observe the things that allow you to become present with no effort, you’ve found your purpose. And it can be 15 things that do that. If you find 15 things that make you present, just clear out your diary and just start doing those 15 things.” - Benjamin J HarveyMoney as a Transference of Love“These people have been convinced that there’s something wrong with being financially successful because we’ve been told by people who are ridiculously financially successful not to have financial success.” - Benjamin J HarveyWe also dive deep into the social values and commentary regarding the ethics behind achieving financial abundance and success. Benjamin is disappointed by the hypocrisy of the situation where people are being told they should give up the pursuit of wealth by people who are themselves very wealthy. He argues that abundance is our birthright and that financial abundance is just another aspect of that. Benjamin’s relationship with money changed the moment he realized that it could be a tool that allowed him to express love while empowering him to have more freedom.“Money really is a transference of love just in another form. And when this clicked for me I realized that I can express my love in multiple ways and people can express their love for me in multiple ways and one of those ways is money.” - Benjamin J HarveyBenjamin’s Message of Inspired EvolutionBen’s personal story is a true inspiration. He is the living proof that your experiences don’t determine the person you’re going to become and that you have the power to change, take control of your life and prosper. His cause is noble and I particularly loved his method we can use for self-determining our purpose in life. We often struggle to find meaning and we’re insecure about whether we’ve made the right choices or not. His words offer comfort and guidance:“Gravitate towards the things that silence your mind and you will have found your truth.” - Benjamin J Harvey See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Purpose: It's worth digging for, and something no one can ever take away from us once we discover it. It gives us courage, clarity, and focus to act in the face of uncertainty, something every leader needs in today's volatile, ambiguous, and chaotic world. And the impact living and working from our purpose is overflowing and includes the gifts of ongoing growth, a strong sense of identity, choosing the “hard right” over the “easy wrong,” energy that motivates the individual and promotes engagement across the organization, and fulfillment which is far more meaningful than fleeting happiness. These are just a few of my favorite takes from Nick Craig's new book, Leading From Purpose.
