Many years ago when Richelle and I were students at Sherman College, Reggie Gold told students that the battle for politics and philosophy in Chiropractic has moved from the school level to the state level. He said that we had to be board-busters and change our state organizations and state boards. Richelle took that to heart and has been part of changing the state board and state organization in Colorado since we arrived over 20 years ago. In this episode, you'll hear the new president of the Colorado Chiropractic Association discuss the changes that have happened and will be happening in the months ahead. People, listen to this because this in not just a Mile High State episode. It will help you have some insight about how you can make an impact in your state, in your region, or your country. While at Parker Chiropractic College, Dr. Waters fell in love with neurology. He found it fascinating to see how the nervous system from a neurological standpoint runs everything from the cells, tissues, organs, and disease processes. “I can see a change in a person right after a treatment. It drives me to see that change in somebody. It's satisfying to see someone crawl into my office and be able to walk out.” Or as his wife likes to say, “Hobble in but skip out.”   In addition to his Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Waters serves the Colorado Chiropractic Association (CCA) as current President 2021-2022 When he's not caring for patients, Dr. Waters enjoys an active family life with his wife, son, and 2 dogs. The family enjoys listening to music, going to the zoo, taking nature walks and going to thrift stores. Dr. Waters is also a Mason, Shriner, and belongs to the Scottish Rite. He also spends time officiating at high school football games and working out at a local gym. Check out the Colorado Chiropractor's Association website at http://www.coloradochiropractic.org. On this episode you'll find out about:   · What excites Dr. Jarod about Chiropractic · His journey in the Chiropractic profession · The changes at the state association level that are taking place in Colorado   Jarod's favorite quote is, “Three things that will cause disease are thoughts, trauma and toxins.” If you're not happy with some of the things you see happening in the Chiropractic profession, be the change and make changes in your state. More change is on the horizon in Colorado, and gratefully the state association has made some of those changes and is currently on the path to making more of those changes.

I love Reggie Gold. If you don't know who this person is, and that's becoming more and more possible, you need to expose yourself as much Reggie content as possible. The one caveat, and I may rub some chiropractors the wrong way with this statement, is to be wary of his business model. It's a bust and honestly, terrible. That said, Reggie was a fantastic communicator. His clarity regarding The Third Paradigm of Chiropractic and how to help the public understand is second to none. One of the recordings that stuck with me and continues to influence our Day One - Two process are his "3 Questions". The "3 Questions" seem simple, but when you deconstruct them, they're actually quite genius. On today's episode of Life By Design For Chiropractors, I break down Reggie's "3 Questions". What I Covered: What is Third Paradigm Chiropractic? What's the context of the "3 Questions?" How the "obvious" answer to question one sets the stage and why it's important. The look you'll get after question two and what the answer will tell you about the patient's current understanding. Question Three is almost too bold to ask but it's valuable to understand the sentiment.

Episode 003 : Dr. James “Jim” Deegan - The Heart of Healing by Doc Schrock | 4-20-2020 | Podcast         James “Jim” Deegan has grown up more than half of his Life learning directly from his mentor, Dr. Arno Burnier since 1995.  He has been staff at Burnier’s seminars for 20+ years on this “Path of Mastery.”  He practices in Smyrna, GA, which is close to Life University where he loves mentoring chiropractic students, other chiropractors and adjusting and caring for his own clients, which Jim refers to as “precious peeps” (people) in the Atlanta area. His heart of service comes out of a “near-death experience and a quantum leap through this Life-changing experience  in 1994." This led him to “The Path of Mastery” from a potential medical Heart transplant list to a Chiropractic experience of self-discovery.  Other teachers and mentors emerged such as Reggie Gold, Joesph Strauss, Pasquale, Paul Bragg and many other direct and indirect vitalistic visionaries. Jim desires to continually serve to elevate The Chiropractic profession and the World by Leading others to discover their inborn gifts. No one can facilitate healing Alone - he subscribes to this motto, “better together” when it comes to healing. Jim’s courageous way of navigating through his crisis and the healing journey that parallelled it is a must-listen. He drops wisdom to parents, to people in crisis, to people who are in a toxic relationship and hurting, and he especially speaks in a life-giving way that will want you to hear more and more. He is an example warrior of everyone who wants to find more peace, ease, and ALIVE-ness in their life. After moving away from everything he knew, Dr. Jim Deegan found himself in the heat of a toxic relationship, Atlanta, and an emergency crisis with a virus that brought him to the edge. This edge brought him to an acceptance and peace about his situation; however, he fought for the 1% chance he was told he had to survive, and he did. Jim serves out of this abundance and gratitude for life, not just his clients, but every single person he meets. The bottom line is, Spirit will come alongside you in your greatest need. The bulk of the Chiropractic profession utilizes a practice approach that was built on the premise that subluxations are the cause of health problems and by correcting them, health challenges will improve or disappear. This concept has led to most of the practice styles and practice management models in existence. Some leaders, specifically Dr. Reggie Gold, recognized the contradiction of this approach and worked tirelessly to change it. He dedicated his entire life to creating a new model of chiropractic practice built on the simple principle that all human beings were better off not subluxated. Based on this idea…it didn’t matter what someone’s symptom or condition was, only if there was the presence or absence of vertebral subluxations. The concept is now recognized as Third Paradigm Chiropractic. Today’s episode of Life By Design For Chiropractors was born from a question we repeatedly receive… “I have an existing practice (purchased a practice) but it’s definitely not Third Paradigm. How do I transition my current practice to the Third Paradigm practice style?” What We Covered What are the defining features of Second Paradigm (2PC) and Third Paradigm Chiropractic (3PC)? The pros of 2PC and why most chiropractors choose to play it safe, avoiding the transition to the practice they know they really desire on the inside. The challenges with practicing in the 2PC model and how they could crush your self-esteem (and success) in the long run. The character traits of a 3PC practice that attracts chiropractors and gets them dreaming of "what could be!" It's not all butterflies and rainbows - the pitfalls of 3PC and what to look out for if you want a successful (and pain-free) transition. The 5 principles of an ultra-successful practice transition. Show Notes Back to the beginning: Dr. Gorman became a chiropractor because she is a chiropractic “miracle” After graduation: worked for Dr. Sigafoose and learned how to be successful. After starting her own practice, it took her only 3 months to see 100 patients per day! “If you’re on fire, they will come and watch you burn.” 4 offices in 4 years, buying and selling practices. Having associates: believe in them more than they believe in themselves. They have to be coachable. Barriers to success: people have trouble seeing themselves successful. Everyone needs a “life line” or support system. Be around successful people. Creating a special and different patient experience in the office. Always try to exceed the expectations. Train the staff on procedures, team building, no negative energy. Marketing: screenings, lunch n learns Establish the need for chiropractic when at screenings and making the appointment is key. For new docs: associate yourself with other successful people in chiropractic. Don’t let anything hold you back. Get constant connection through seminars or coaching. For seasoned docs: People get “bored out” of practice. Keep it fresh by learning new things. Lesson learned: you need the ability to get up and move forward after falling down. Dr Reggie Gold deeply affected Dr Rubin's growth as a chiropractor, and he described the way chiropractic works as a letter N. First, the subluxation occurs at the top of the N, dysfunction the natural result, with health sliding down the slope of the N. Next, finding a chiropractor and having the adjustments bring you back up the 2nd side of the N.

While some may remember it as the episode that holds the World's Record for the LONGEST Chiropractic Podcast EVER Recorded (7 hours, 41 minutes, and 52 seconds), for others the Finale Episode of Spinal Column Radio memorializes a TRANSFORMATION — a transformation they have witnessed in themselves when it comes to chiropracTIC. Because of the content shared on SCR, they — like the host, Dr. Thomas Lamar — have experienced a "shift." For in their regular listening, they have witnessed in themselves a CHANGE — a change in how they now THINK, TEACH, and PREACH chiropractic. The "safety pin" between their ears has clicked into position and a "CONNECTION" has been made. They now GET the Big Idea. They now GET chiropracTIC and see themselves as chiropracTORs. They have undergone "The ter to TOR Evolution." Have YOU? Join Dr. Thomas Lamar (and Logan) for a final episode that not only recognizes this "shift" with Graduation and Celebration, but CONNECTS it all together with the SAFETY PIN. First Dr. Lamar and Listeners symbolically GRADUATE "ter to TOR" — marking this moment in history — as they join Life Chiropractic College West's Graduation Ceremony LIVE via a mic'ed-up Big TOR on Campus, Brett Jones, to vicariously walk across the platform with him. Not only will listeners "graduate" with Lamar, but he, through the POWER OF THE PODCAST, addresses the actual student graduates at Life West from his SCR Studio on their Big Screen. Afterwards, Life West President, Dr. Brian Kelly, joins the program to share some words with the newly "graduated" SCR-ter-to-TOR-Listeners. Then, if all that weren't enough, Life West Dean of Enrollment, Dr. Mary Flannery joins Lamar in-studio to talk about an exciting new program that allows "ter to TOR"graduate-listeners to CONNECT with Life West through their Safety Pin Project — grafting them in the family as "alumni" of their philosophical, vitalistic, subluxation-based institution. Plus participating SCR Listeners will receive a Spinal Column Radio Safety Pin Certificate, acting as a "diploma" that will remind and tell of this transformation graduation. Then the Finale Show kicks into party mode, as Dr. Lamar and Logan CELEBRATE four years of Spinal Column Radio. They break out STATS and share MEMORIES. Lamar goes Underground at the Tacoma EPOC to CONNECT with some of the Best SCR Backyard Listeners and Chiro Bros on the Planet (Aaron Toler, Seth Anderson, Nathan Wall, and Walt Scott) and then is back in studio to continue the celebration with some special people... people who share a special place in Lamar's 18-year "ter to TOR journey." On the guest list: Bill Esteb, Jim Dubel, Todd Waters, and Reggie Gold. Plus, for some Chiro-Comedy, Todd Water's "BJ" character has some final interactions with the SCR team, and Lamar shares some very fitting words from the real BJ written out of his previously unpublished work, The Great Undertow. And CONNECTING it all together in the spirit of the Safety Pin... is a history segment that was patiently waiting for Lamar to discover. On this episode Lamar pays tribute to Washington State ChiropracTIC Pioneer, Dr. HT Hughes and his Chiropractic Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Medal. His entire family of 9 drops in for a short stay, and then of course, Lamar wraps the whole thing with some CHARGING FINAL WORDS that are not to be missed.
