What if the biggest misunderstanding in the Middle East is that Hezbollah and Iran are separate actors? In this episode, you'll learn why many Israelis view Hezbollah not as an independent Lebanese movement but as Tehran's most powerful proxy force, and why that distinction changes the entire conversation. Fleur Hassan-Nahoum breaks down the history of Hezbollah's military buildup and the argument that years of international diplomacy failed to stop the threat from growing. Whether you agree or disagree, this episode will challenge conventional narratives and reveal the strategic thinking behind Israel's determination to confront Hezbollah once and for all.

Two cases are converging in the national spotlight — and both present legal questions that reach well beyond the individuals at the center. In Pima County, the Board of Supervisors has invoked Arizona Revised Statute 11-253 to compel Sheriff Chris Nanos to provide sworn testimony on his work history, personnel discipline, immigration enforcement, and budget overruns — with the stated authority to remove him from office for noncompliance. His deputies' union has voted unanimously for his resignation. A $2 million federal lawsuit alleges political retaliation. And every documented investigative failure in the Nancy Guthrie case — from premature crime scene release to evidence declared lost and later recovered by the FBI — becomes potential defense ammunition the moment anyone is charged. In Florida and Arkansas, Joseph Duggar faces two life felony charges. He and his wife face eight combined misdemeanor charges in Arkansas. Court records have been restricted from public access. The investigation is active across two states. CPS has reportedly expanded its scope beyond the immediate household. The legal architecture of the case is still being constructed — and sources indicate the charges filed so far may not be final.Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer provides the investigative framework for both cases — the evidentiary chain issues in Tucson, the multi-jurisdictional prosecution challenges in the Duggar case, and the structural question that connects them: when the system itself is compromised, how does justice find a path forward?Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Rachel Maddow talks with Senator Mark Warner, top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, about reporting in the Washington Post that people close to Donald Trump are being pitched an idea to use fake intelligence about foreign election interference to allow Trump to declare an emergency and take over the voting system ahead of this year's midterm elections. Patrick Dattilio, founder of Hagerstown Rapid Respone talks with Rachel about how a diverse collection of activism has made a stand against a Trump immigrant prison project. Want more of Rachel? World War I historiography is heavily focused on the Western Front, and the memoirs of soldiers of the Central Powers—especially for English language audiences—are often rare or inaccessible. A Tale of Two Fronts: A German Soldier's Journey through World War I helps fill this gap. Written by Hans Schiller, who enlisted in the Imperial German Army at age seventeen, the memoir covers his service primarily on the Eastern Front, his experiences in the war's final months in the West, and his postwar fighting with the Freikorps until May 1920.To discuss these experiences and his perspective of the war, the World War I Podcast hosted his granddaughter, Karin Wagner, and the editors of his memoir, Dr. Gregory Loving and Dr. Frederic Krome. More than a third of Ukraine's scientific institutions have been damaged or destroyed by Russian bombing. Many scientists have either fled the country or are internally displaced, and that Ukraine's National Academy of Sciences is trying to operate on half its pre-war budget. The funding may be reduced but the science still matters, even in wartime. Perhaps especially in wartime. It is something the country can be proud of. Climate change has no borders and Ukraine is making a key contribution to our understanding of the global warming crisis. We hear from the scientists of Ukraine's National Antarctic Scientific Centre, torn between the frontlines of a prolonged national conflict whilst simultaneously attempting to arm the world with the latest research on a warming climate from the white wilderness of Antarctica.

Is there a real risk of coordinated aggression by China and Russia that could lead to simultaneous attacks on Taiwan and NATO countries? Both the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Alexus Grynkewich, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte have mentioned this scenario. Adiel Cohen remembers Oct. 7 like it was yesterday. He was at his sister's house in Northern Israel when he woke up to hear his phone buzzing with rocket alerts and notifications. His first-ever panic attack washed over him as he realized he would quickly be called back into the army—which happened immediately after Shabbat. That night, Cohen filled a backpack with a few essentials and travelled south on the eerily quiet roads. After his time fighting in the south, he returned to his studies at Tel Aviv University, but didn't stop fighting for his country. Instead of prepping rocket launchers near Gaza, he took to TikTok and Instagram to argue against anti-Zionists describing his home country as a land of colonizing Europeans. For Cohen, this line of attack is particularly egregious, as one of his biggest inspirations is his grandmother, who came to Israel from Yemen decades ago. Cohen joins Rivkush, The CJN's podcast about Jews of colour, to talk about the history of Yemeni Jews, share his war stories and explain why watermelon is actually a very Israeli fruit. It has been nearly six months since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war, and Prime Minister Netanyahu issued a rare apology for the recent deaths of seven aid workers killed in an airstrike in Gaza. International pressure mounted for both Israel and the United States after this strike, as President Biden offered swift criticism for Netanyahu's failure to protect aid workers and Gazan civilians. The President stopped short of drawing a red line with U.S. military aid to Israel; however, this event only furthered the tensions between the two world leaders. FOX News foreign correspondent Trey Yingst joins the Rundown to explain the global fallout from the deaths of the World Central Kitchen aid workers, the potential escalation in the region with the Israeli strike on Damascus, and the dangers posed to the Israeli Defense Force if they stay in Gaza too long. The release of the docuseries "Quiet On Set" has brought increased attention to the treatment of child actors, with numerous former child stars calling out the abuse and mistreatment they faced while working on television and movie productions. Former stars are now speaking up and advocating for legislation that protects the welfare of child actors. Actor and advocate Alyson Stoner joins the podcast to discuss the challenges they faced during their time as child stars, the details of the "Kidfluencer Protection Act" that they are pushing to get passed in Ohio, and the heavy mental toll that the acting industry can have on adolescents. Plus, commentary by a former investment banker and author of 'You Will Own Nothing,' Carol Roth. Photo Credit: AP Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Bashar Murad's danceable riffs and live concerts and videos - filled with bubbles, enormous hats, and layers and layers of veils - have earned him the nickname "Palestinian Lady Gaga" from his fans. And much like Born This Way is an anthem of equality, Murad's songs challenge conservative social norms and push for LGBTQ rights while also challenging the Israeli occupation of the West Bank. Earlier this summer, Murad's concert in the West Bank city of Ramallah was cancelled under threats by anti-LGBTQ activists.
