With the Viola's season on pause for some reason nobody can quite explain, your favorite Fiorentina podcast idiots are back to bring that splash of purple back to your life. We started off with a quick look at the AC Milan game and the absurdity that came with it before zooming out and trying to figure out where this team is right now after a wretched start, highlighting a few newer developments that have the good guys flying, well, maybe not high, but at least not into a smoking crater. After that, we turned our attention to the World Cup and what it means for the 5 Viola players there (we recorded before the Nicolás González injury hit, so just ignore all the stuff we said about him). We wrapped up with a surprise interview featuring an international man of mystery. Who is he? Guess you gotta listen to find out, suckers. Along the way, we learned that Mike's branching out into other types of football, that Tito's a sommelier of sadness, and that Producer Mike thinks we're number one and he's got the fingers to prove it. As always, thanks to Windchime Weather for the music. We had a blast making this and hope that you enjoy listening. Feel free to get in touch with us at the website or on Twitter (assuming it's still around by the time this is live), or to leave us a review on whatever platform you listen on. Thanks, and Forza Viola! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

With ten games in the books for most clubs, its time for us to start critically looking at the League Table. Arsenal are still at the top and with Manchester City dropping points at Liverpool, are starting to build a small gap. Four points now separate the first place team from the second (and third). How well can Arsenal, City, and Tottenham see out the last few matches before the Wold Cup break. Follow along this week as the boys break down the Liverpool/City, Villa/Chelsea, and Leeds/Arsenal games. We round out our conversation this week with a look at Brighton, should BHA fans start to worry about their current form? Drop a comment below and tell us which games you watched this weekend. Welcome to this weeks episode of Nothing But Football. We start off the episode with updates about the Newcastle takeover. It seems as though most of the Premier League clubs aren't happy about this deal and are trying to limit the spending for Newcastle. The hosts discuss this situation. We then somehow end up on the topic of Wold Cup qualifications and how it varies in difficulty depending on the continent you are on. The hosts discuss how easy it is for some teams (we're obviously talking about the European teams) to qualify compared to others. We then move on to the Gameweek 8 fixtures where there were some surprise results (Manchester United). We discuss all these results and find out from the Manchester United supporter if we should start preparing ourselves for the #OleOut chants. All of this will be the hot topic on this weeks episode of Nothing But Football.

The first FPL game week of the 2018-19 season is over and there's a lot of information to digest. Before you commit to any knee-jerk moves, why not give this episode a listen? We take listener questions and give our thoughts on key issues: The potential of premium defenders (should we double-up anywhere?), emerging mid-priced midfielders (Neves or Jota?), striker dilemmas (no major returns up front), and the early return to action for some big Wold Cup stars (how urgently are we targeting Kane or Sterling?). In preparation for GW2, we also touch upon Liverpool's attacking firepower, the trouble with Alexis, and the miracle that is Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Hail Cheaters! Former Olympic downhill skier Doug Lewis decided at 8 he’d compete on the Wold Cup level. Success came very early, but during his first World Cup race at age 17 he broke his back. Failure, he now says, is critical to building confidence. He went on to win World Cup Bronze and represent the US in 3 Olympic games. The problem with peaking early is the looming question of what to do next - and will anyone care. Lewis chose to pass on the lessons he learned by creating a youth development program called Eliteam. He also chose to stayed close to ski racing and is a Skiing analyst for NBC for World Cup and Olympic games. Lewis is content with his life, but continues every day to look for new adventures and inspire kids to set lofty goals then dig deep to achieve them. Lessons: 1. Good coaches set goals challenging enough to spur growth but not so overwhelming they create despair. 2. Students should set goals they may never reach, they will provide direction and inspiration. 3. Confidence requires failure. 4. In any meaningful life path, ebbs and flows are inevitable.
