Ken Ilgunas may be the coolest writer you haven't heard of yet. Sarah worked with him at Salon, where he wrote personal essays about: living in a van while attending Duke University; camping in the rain at Occupy Wall Street; and hiking the XL Pipeline. He's since written memoirs about discovering the natural world and himself, including Walden on Wheels. He's lived in Alaska and now lives in Scotland, but as a boy, he never went hiking, never went hunting, knew nothing of the natural world outside his small upstate New York town. Recently, he wrote in his newsletter about the profound effect podcasts had on him, and we're here for it. In this episode, I open with the stunning revelation just dropped in the New York Times – the Hunter Biden laptop story is real. What? I thought that story was how the New York Post was deplatformed on Twitter? I thought that story was called a Russian hoax by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki and many other in the administration. I thought the legacy media, with help from their willing accomplices in Big Tech, said it was nothing but misinformation and a huge conspiracy theory. I don't know about all of you, but I never get tired of being right, even if it takes those some Democrat propaganda outlets from finally coming to the same conclusions we all did 12-18 months earlier. But, let's not kid ourselves. They legacy media knew it was a real story. The White House also knew it was real. But it was in the midst of a presidential election where an unprecedented number of ballots were going to be mailed in or dropped in boxes. Nothing was going to be allowed that might taint the direction those outlets wanted the election to go. Not only do we have an inept and disastrous White House when it comes to just about every policy move, but also an immensely dangerous one. Just days after Iran tried to take out an US Consulate in Iraq with a missile barrage, we now find out the new nuclear agreement with Iran will allow Russia to earn upwards of $10 billion dollars for nuclear work in Iran. Understand that we have an administration who is telling us they are enforcing “crippling” sanctions (their words, which we know are not true) designed to hurt Russia's economy, only to be working on green-lighting a deal that would provide Moscow with a critical source of revenue! It's astounding to see this happening in real-time and it seems like no one understand how terrible this is. The radicals in the Democrat party and in the White House are doing all they can to, as I said in yesterday's show, fundamentally transform this nation. And they are being so brazen because they know time is short. In a brand new Pew Research Poll, it seems as thought 71% of Americans want to see the Keystone XL pipeline resumed and they favor more domestic energy production. To reach 71%, there has to be more than just Republicans in that poll. That means this White House is realizing they are losing support from democrat voters. To give one more example of the sheer ineptitude of our most powerful leaders in Congress, we turn to a recent Q&A with House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi. I don't know what meds she takes or how many shots she uses to wash them down, but it's horrific to think she is considered the 3rd most powerful member of our Federal government. Finally, I close with a tease of an upcoming special episode of The Alan Sanders Show. I had the chance to chat with Governor Brian Kemp of the state of Georgia and spent nearly 30 minutes discussing his first four years in office, the highs and lows and his re-election campaign. It was a great conversation and I am looking forward to bringing it to you in the coming days. Take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. Keystone XL Pipeline Kaput! Vancouver city council beats back Big Gas, twice! Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment, and Switch It Up, BC!
Within hours of taking office, President Biden revoked the permit for the controversial Keystone XL pipeline. The project, which would worsen the climate crisis, also posed major health and safety risks to indigenous people whose land it crossed. Now the Canadian corporation that wanted to build the pipeline is using a NAFTA Investor-State Dispute System (ISDS) tribunal to demand $15 billion from U.S. taxpayers. ISDS allows multinational corporations to sue governments before a panel of three corporate lawyers, who can award unlimited sums to be paid by taxpayers, including for the loss of expected future profits. A years-long civil society and labor campaign got the original ISDS rules whacked out of the revised NAFTA. But that fix is phased-in over three years. This means legacy cases like TC Energy's can be launched until 2023. In this episode, we look at the Keystone XL NAFTA ISDS case, the new rules governing investor rights in North America, and the future of the ISDS regime. The incident took place June 16, according to The Iowa Standard. An assistant manager for the center told the local outlet patrons are free to wear clothing that aligns with their chosen gender and sexual identities. One resident in Pella, where the pool is located, said that, when the issue was raised, facility staffers said there was “nothing they could... View Article

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — The sponsor of the Keystone XL crude oil pipeline pulled the plug on the contentious project Wednesday after Canadian officials failed to persuade President Joe Biden to reverse his cancellation of its permit on the day he took office.
The company that was building the Keystone XL oil pipeline has canceled the project. President Joe Biden had already revoked the pipeline's permit. Plus, G-7 leaders gather for a summit with ambitions to set a new global economic agenda. And, a significant increase in U.S. energy storage abilities and what it means cleaner power in the face of climate change.

Whether knowingly or not, millions of Americans voted for higher gas and electricity prices when they voted for Joe Biden, and based on recent market action, they are already getting a return on their vote “investment.” Joe Biden has been busy. Shutting down the XL Pipeline appears only to be the beginning Gas and oil prices are already rising and could go up dramatically this year. Kim begins the week to congratulate the new State Colorado GOP leadership: Kristi Burton Brown, Pricilla Rahn and Marilyn Harris. The team seems to have a battle plan in place with election integrity as the top issue. Producer Steve muses when will people understand and see the effect of what has happened in the last five months. Energy costs have risen around 40% since the inauguration of the Biden administration. Consumer prices will increase and have a hurtful financial impact on all households. Constitutional expert with the Independence Institute Rob Natelson joins Kim to discuss SB21-132, Digital Communications Regulation. This bill would regulate all digital communications in Colorado. The bill’s sponsor is Sen. Donovan, a leader in the state Democrat party who is running against Rep. Boebert in CD-3. This bill would restore the censorship and licensing regime of the English Crown dating back to 1694. Fifteen years ago Colorado was seen as the third freest state and today we are seen as the third worst state for freedom. This bill is unconstitutional in many respects including the fee is an affront to TABOR (Colorado's Taxpayer's Bill of Rights), no trial by jury, and no due process. The bill has recently been turned into a study. Jason McBride, Senior Vice President with Presidential Wealth Management, comments that bills like SB21-132 seem par for the course. The DOW and NASDAQ had positive days on Friday but the volume was less than the previous day. The NASDAQ is still below its 50 day average. There are innovative ways that you can use to eliminate risks in your financial portfolio. Give Jason a call at 303-694-1600 to discuss. Tom Petrie, oil and gas investment banker, is the guest for Kim’s Health and Hydrocarbons Show. Tom notes that Biden is motivated to undo everything that Trump accomplished specifically the Keystone pipeline and drilling for hydrocarbons on federal lands. Biden does not care nor does he understand second order consequences. Energy prices will continue to rise with a carbon tax. An economic confrontation is looming with China. There will be humanitarian and economic consequences if we do not keep a strong US-Canadian alliance. The natural market for Canada is south of the border, not necessarily west to the Pacific rim. The Green New Deal disaster experienced in Texas during the deep freeze is a lesson in the problem of intermittency. When the storm hit there was no solution for the unavailability of solar and wind energy. This makes us more vulnerable in conditions we cannot control as consumers. It may take a few decades before we can get to efficient battery storage. Rare earth mining has powerful earth disruption, more than fossil fuels. The disposal of electric car batteries is another challenge. It is important to critically assess the effectiveness of policies which to date are on a negative learning curve.
