Soundscapes: Disneyland's Tomorrowland ----- Want More Here With The Magic? Watch the Show: https://www.herewiththemagic.com/show Visit The Website: https://herewiththemagic.com Watch Here: https://www.youtube.com/HereWithTheMagic Connect on Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/herewiththemagic Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/herewiththemagic/ -- When I think of Disneyland, I feel an instant nostalgic sense of joy. As the original Magic Kingdom and the only park Walt knew intimately and saw to completion, we as Disney lovers and lifers seem to have an inherent attachment to the place that inspires a soul-stirring, heart-soaring feeling every time we step beyond its gates. What's weird is that my couple of childhood trips were actually to Walt Disney World. I didn't visit Disneyland until decades later. But still, there's this unmistakable feeling of nostalgia that I think many of us find at Disneyland. We know that Magic lives Here. We don't need to have experienced it as children to feel it. It's so powerful here, that it brings forth that inner child, regardless of age. And, for me, there may be no place where I feel that inner child leaping forward more than in Tomorrowland. All around this space, there is an abundant joy -- laughter of current guests and echoes from family vacations long past. Waves from little hands flying rocket ships and faces alight with the wonder of new discovery, and in search of galaxies far, far, away. Even the techno-futuristic music seems to carry a nostalgic tune throughout the entire land. And though Tomorrowland is often classified as the place for thrill-seekers, there's something Here for those of us who enjoy a slower pace. The rooftop queue of the mighty Space Mountain, the sprawling retro-classic bandstand at the Tomorrowland Terrace, the lagoon at the reimagined submarine voyage…quiet spaces to pause and reflect. And it makes for great people watching too -- and listening! It's hard to explain Tomorrowland to someone who's never visited. Essentially, it's a dream that keeps on dreaming. A future that never was, but could someday be. But before we can get to Tomorrow, we have to immerse ourselves in the right now, because today holds all the Magic we need for this moment. Right here in Tomorrowland, where the future has arrived.
Season 3 - Episode 4 – I don't want fine cotton, I want great cotton ft.@ldoggystyles - Matt and Irv are MIA so John makes an emergency call to a guy who never goes out, I mean loves talking sneakers and Disney. That's right, Lawrence is back to save the day. We run through some news items and do some victim shaming of the woman who lost her Apple watch at Epcot and got hit with 40K in charges. Our fit of the week is @codefingerboards in Magic Kingdom with Supreme dunks. Don't forget to tag us an use #kicksatthecastle in your Disney fit picks for a feature. We catch up on trips on property, John covers for Irv with his corn fed option of the week. In World vs Land we talk about the Astro Orbiter. http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Let's pilot a rocket ship at the entrance to Tomorrowland at Disneyland park! We ride the Astro Orbiter on this episode of Attraction Checklist. Attraction audio recorded on May 18, 2021. TRANSCRIPT: This episode finds us in Tomorrowland at Disneyland to ride the Astro Orbiter. The Disneyland Resort website describes this attraction saying: Pilot your very own rocket ship high in the sky amid a gleaming constellation of orbiting planets. There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and the thrill level describes this attraction as a Spinning ride. Before we blast off, here are five fast facts about Disneyland's Astro Orbiter! 1. Disneyland has had some form of the Astro Orbiter since 1956. The original attraction was known as the Astro Jets. In 1964 it was renamed the Tomorrowland Jets. That version closed in 1966 and returned a year later as The Rocket Jets, located high above Tomorrowland. The Rocket Jets closed in 1997 and the current version, the Astro Orbiter found its home at the front entrance of Tomorrowland on May 22, 1998. 2. When the attraction changed its name in 1964, it was because the ride's sponsor, United Airlines, complaining that the name Astro Jets was free advertising for American Airlines' Astrojet flight service. 3. The Astro Orbiter features 12 rockethsips that hold two riders per vehicle. 4. Astro Orbiter rockets travel at a speed of 11 rotations per minute and travel an average of 1.2 Million Miles per year. 5. A ride on the Astro Orbiter lasts a brief one minute and thirty seconds. Let's take a ride on the Astro Orbiter. After we ride I'll give you my thoughts on this attraction. This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we ride Astro Orbiter at Disneyland. Does anyone go to Walt Disney World just to ride Astro Orbiter? What about Living with the Land? Nostalgic fans may, but most people don't! Let's talk about what attractions are mostly forgotten about at WDW! ------- Find everything here.
Take a virtual audio trip in this installment of the WDW-Memories podcast, brought to you in immersive spatial sound, experiencing another magical memory from Walt Disney World. In today's memory, you will join my family as we pilot a rocket ship high above Tomorrowland.
The Astro Orbitor at Disneyland is not a new attraction. A version of the attraction opened in 1956. Astro Orbiter opened in 1974 at Walt Disney World. We also discussed a great deal about pandemic weight gain and going to the parks. We discussed the new annual pass program at Disney World. We recorded this episode on 2 consecutive Sundays and between recordings, Jimmy got new super fast fiber internet and for some reason, his connection froze several times. Makes for sun editing and killer listening experience for you, our treasured listener. Will the fact that Astro Orbiter in Disney World is high, fast and thrilling be supreme? Or will the Astro Orbitor in Disneyland being visually appealing entrance statement of Tomorrowland reign supreme? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We spend an evening visiting the Magic Kingdom to check out the crowds, construction, and the latest happenings at the park. During our time we take you on a spin at the Astro Orbiter in Tomorrowland. We head over to the Country Bear Jamboree in Frontierland and the Haunted Mansion in Liberty Square. We then take a look at what's happening at "it's a small world" and Mickey's PhilarMagic. We check out construction at Cinderella Castle as it takes on the next phase of preparations for Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary. We consider how Disney responds when an attraction like Pirates of the Caribbean goes completely down with no hope of being back in operation that same day. All this and an update discussion about eating in safe places during this COVID time.
We go on a quest to figure out which spinner attraction in Walt Disney World is the best. We compare the very traditional spinners: Dumbo, Astro Orbiter, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, and Triceratops Spin. And, we use the following criteria: queue, ride experience, theme, and repeatability. What did you think of our findings? Who was your winner? Let us know at show@magicourway.com. Your opinions are always welcome in our show. Seriously, every opinion is welcome.
