In 1969, Creedence Clearwater Revival were unstoppable — and ‘Green River' proved why. Hot off the success of ‘Bayou Country', CCR delivered a masterclass in American rock, blending swampy grooves, bluesy riffs, and excellent storytelling. Tracks like “Bad Moon Rising” and “Green River” became instant classics, while the poignant “Lodi” showed a more reflective side of the band. Despite its short, punchy songs and straightforward style, ‘Green River' left an enormous impact — shaping roots rock and cementing CCR's place among the legends of that era.Episode Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6CzynKICOTJryzSDUxROtv?si=898d6d84d0fe4759* Follow Long Live Rock 'N' Roll online: https://linktr.ee/longlivernrpod* Get in touch and/or leave us a review: longliverocknrollpodcast@gmail.com* Listen & Review us on Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/long-live-rock-n-roll/id1581139831* Listen & Review us on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2wZW1BYAw9wJ6Z5blo2uGj#CreedenceClearwaterRevival #CCR #GreenRiver #JohnFogerty #ClassicRock #SwampRock #RootsRock #60sRock #RockLegends #BadMoonRising #Lodi #RockHistory #AlbumReview #MusicPodcast #RocknRoll #IconicAlbums

News: With the upcoming 70th anniversary at Disneyland coming up fast, there has been some work to get the parks in tip-top shape. Last week, Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge had the cannons fixed! This effect has not been working for the last year or more. Rumor online is that it was a programming issue that over the course of the day the movement got out of sync and caused the attraction to stop working. That has been corrected and the cannons appear to be back! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/02/02/we-love-it-when-disney-listens-imagineers-finally-fixed-this-glaring-ride-problem/ There is quite a bit happening elsewhere in the resort as well. Over in Disney California Adventure, Elias & Co. on Buena Vista Street is behind scrim and scaffold, the Cozy Cone Motel in Cars Land is still working on the updates to the main office. The new seating area nearby has also partially gone back behind walls to add what looks like a shade covering to the spot. The Little Mermaid is still open, but getting an extended standby queue. Grizzly River Run is undergoing a major refurbishment, including work on the guard rails and some stonework. – https://www.micechat.com/408639-disneyland-update-end-of-the-line-blasts-from-the-past/ ver in Disneyland, more light poles are covered up around the resort to allow for maintenance. The Disneyland Monorail and Disneyland Railroad are closed until early March to work on new entrance gates for the Downtown Disney station of the Monorail, and the rest of the track replacement for the Disneyland Railroad. The Jolly Holiday and it's a small world are down for extended refurbishments. – https://www.micechat.com/408639-disneyland-update-end-of-the-line-blasts-from-the-past/ This coming weekend is the last chance to hop aboard the Red Car Trolley at Disney California Adventure. February 8th is the last day for the attraction which added a lot of kinetic movement and atmosphere to Buena Vista Street and Hollywood Boulevard. While you won't be able to ride the trolley anymore, one will be parked near the entrance to the park for photos. – https://www.micechat.com/408639-disneyland-update-end-of-the-line-blasts-from-the-past/ Madame Leota's Somewhere Beyond shop, which just opened last month had some flooding issues last week. The heavy rain flowed down the walkway to Bayou Country and right into the front door of the shop. The resort already has plans for work to be done with the path in front of the shop to correct this issue. The shop will remain open during this work, with entrance allowed by the Haunted Mansion exit. – https://www.micechat.com/408639-disneyland-update-end-of-the-line-blasts-from-the-past/ Disneyland After Dark: Sweethearts Nite was hugely popular, but the other After Dark Nites still have tickets available. 90's Nite still has tickets for March 4th, and Star Wars Nite still has all dates available. The Royal Street Veranda has added Baked Cheesy Biscuits, with an optional side of Cajun Cheese sauce. They are described as Cheeze-Its in biscuit form. The biscuits are made with sharp cheddar and cajun cheese, and are brushed with garlic butter. The sauce is not overly spicy and adds a sharper cheese flavor. The biscuits are $8.99, and the dipping sauce is $1.39. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/01/27/review-id-like-to-thank-the-creator-of-this-new-disney-snack-for-making-me-believe-in-happiness-again/ SnackChat: Flo's V8 Cafe – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disney-california-adventure/flos-v8-cafe/menus/ Discussion Topic: Disney Islands with Teresa

TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we head to Disneyland's newley christened Bayou Country to ride Tiana's Bayou Adventure. The Disneyland website describes this attraction saying: Drop on in and come along for the ride with Princess Tiana on an exhilarating musical adventure.  The thrill level describes the attraction as being a Thrill Ride that is a water ride with big drops. Before we head to the bayou, here are five fast facts about Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Disneyland. 1. In June of 2020, Disney announced they would be re-theming Splash Mountain at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom to Tiana's Bayou adventure, based on the 2009 film The Princess and the Frog. 2. The Magic Kingdom version of the attraction opened on June 28, 2024 and the Disneyland version is scheduled to open on November 15, 2024.  The audio for this episode was recorded during Magic Key holder previews on November 5, 2024. 3.  In September 2022, it was announced that several voice actors from the original film would be reprising their roles to provide voices for the attraction.  This includes Anika Noni Rose as Tiana and Michael-Leon Wooley as Lewis 4. Tiana's Bayou Adventure features 48 audio animatronics in the attraction including several state of the art figures for Tiana and Lewis. 5. The storyline of the attraction has Tiana's Foods built on a salt dome.  This inspiration was taken from the Avery Island salt dome in Louisiana.  Let's hop a log to Tiana's Foods.  After the ride audio I'll give you my thoughts on this attraction.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphone put them on now as we ride Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Disneyland! On Nov. 16, 1972,  police officers shot and killed two Southern University students, Denver Smith and Leonard Brown, during a peaceful college protest. The shooting and its ripple effects are the subject of a new investigative podcast called Bitter Jaguar. It's written, produced and hosted by Gulf States Newsroom reporter Drew Hawkins and stems from an investigation from the LSU Cold Case Project — a class for students at the Manship School of Mass Communication. He spoke with WRKF's Karen Henderson about the five-part series. Monday was Veterans Day, and this week on Louisiana Considered, we are diving into the state's military history and the contributions of its servicemen and women.Earlier this week, we brought you a conversation on Black military history at Southern University and other HBCUs, and today we are exploring the story of the Frenchies. While many French-speaking Cajun servicemen were outcast as children, their bilingual abilities gave them a powerful tool during World War II. They translated documents, deciphered messages, and spoke directly to French-speaking Europeans.Jason Theriot is the author of the three-volume book, “To Honor Our Veterans: An Oral History of World War II Veterans From the Bayou Country.” More recently, he's released “The Frenchie Podcast,” that dives into their individual contributions. He joins us now for more.—Today's episode of Louisiana Considered was hosted by Adam Vos. Our managing producer is Alana Schrieber. Micechat reports that locations for the new Coco and Avatar projects have been in flux. After studying the crowd flow on Pixar Pier, there may not be enough room for an extended queue where the planned Coco attraction would be located. It was suggested to move the Coco attraction to Hollywood Land, which would allow for Monsters, Inc. to be saved as Coco would move into the Hollywood and Dine location. News: More fun theming has appeared in Disneyland! The new water fountain and bottle filling station near Pooh Corner in Bayou Country has been decorated with h2onny pots! This continues the recent addition of the Alice theming added to the fountain in Fantasyland near the Matterhorn. The new fountain in Bayou Country features two hunny pots dripping honey on the fountain below. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/09/30/were-not-exaggerating-when-we-say-this-might-be-the-best-part-of-disneys-critter-country-overhaul/ Recently in the Orange County Register, there was talk of how Disneyland almost used drones in World of Color when it premiered back in 2010. One of the reasons that this didn't come to be was governmental regulations on use of drones in nighttime spectaculars. Regulations have decreased since then, which has resulted in drone shows at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World. Maybe drones will be in Disneyland's future as well. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/09/25/confirmed-disney-almost-used-drones-in-world-of-color/ The fountains at World of Color have been getting some TLC to keep the show in tip-top shape. According to the World of Color dining package calendar, it appears that the show will be returning on October 25th. – https://www.micechat.com/398835-disneyland-news-christmas-creep-splash-peek-guest-sneak/ We are still a month away from Halloween, but that hasn't stopped the holiday merchandise from arriving at the resort. Among the options are Mickey and Minnie couple shirts, a couple Haunted Mansion themed shirts, and more! – https://www.micechat.com/398835-disneyland-news-christmas-creep-splash-peek-guest-sneak/ The Disneyland Magic Key Instagram account posted a fun new scavenger hunt around the resort. The Floral scavenger hunt features different plants around Disneyland with the name of the plant and a picture to help you find them. This is a great way to enjoy the hard work and beauty of the horticulture team at the resort. – https://www.micechat.com/398835-disneyland-news-christmas-creep-splash-peek-guest-sneak/ https://www.instagram.com/p/DARFVnQPN_y/ We previously talked about the Scary Teddy popcorn bucket that debuted out in Walt Disney World last month. Disneyland is getting the bucket on October 3rd. Along with Scary Teddy is a Madame Leota straw clip! – https://www.micechat.com/398835-disneyland-news-christmas-creep-splash-peek-guest-sneak/ A new treat has come to Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar. The Nightmare Grog is a Dole Whip Mango Pineapple, with a hint of Gorilla Grog, served in a Nightmare Before Christmas souvenir cup. The cup features Jack and Zero decked out for the holidays, with “Trader Sam's” printed on the side. – https://www.instagram.com/p/DAjV-_ToCBo/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Disney Visa Cardholders have a new discount they can use! Cardholders can save up to 25% off select rooms at a Disneyland Resort hotel on stays from October 20th through December 19th on Sunday through Thursdays. The Pixar Place hotel is not part of the offer. The Halloween Cavalcade is a short production with a couple of Main Street vehicles and a float with characters in their Halloween costumes. There are also quite a few walking characters as well. - https://www.micechat.com/395538-disneyland-update-construction-tricks-and-halloween-treats/ Some quick construction updates from around the resort. The Haunted Mansion extended queue is starting to take shape with the main walls of the new section looking pretty far along in construction. The gift shop at the end of the attraction has begun vertical construction. The transformation into Bayou Country from Critter Country is progressing nicely, along with Tiana's Bayou Adventure, which is testing off and on. From the small town of Pauanui, New Zealand, to Gonzales, Louisiana, is 8,000 air miles and a world of difference. That's the trek Mike “Kiwi” Robinson made as a young adult, and he's now running the highly regarded Pelican Point Golf Club in the Bayou State. Louisiana summers usually come with heat and tremendous humidity, so Mike has countered with well thought out plant nutrition from the Redox TurfRx™ line, with a variety of products as stables, including K+, NatureCur, C-85, Supreme™, and CA. He said Redox not only helps keep his course in great shape, it has taken a significant amount of his stress away.“Apart from having healthy turf, the biggest thing I get from using Redox is my stress levels are down,” he remarked.

The Book Review Series: Highlights of some very great books about American history. A list of books everyone should have in their libraries. First published in 1978, Claude F. Oubre's Forty Acres and a Mule has since become a definitive study in the history of American Reconstruction. Drawing on a vast collection of government records and newspapers, Oubre examines what he sees as the crucial question of Reconstruction: Why were the vast majority of freed slaves denied the opportunity to own land during the Reconstruction era, leaving them vulnerable to a persecution that strongly resembled slavery? Oubre recounts the struggle of black families to acquire land and how the U.S. government agency Freedmen's Bureau both served and obstructed them. Claude F. Oubre (1937-2011) was a professor of history and political science at Louisiana State University at Eunice and coauthor of Creoles of Color in the Bayou Country. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jamaine-farmer-bey/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jamaine-farmer-bey/support

Storms and rising sea levels threaten to wipe out French language in Louisiana's bayou country

Hurricane Ida killed dozens of Lousianans and displaced tens of thousands of others. Among the hardest hit were bilingual and French-speaking communities close to the Mississippi Delta. Alces Adams lives halfway between New Orleans and the Gulf of Mexico in the small community of Cut Off in Lafourche Parish. Hurricane Ida destroyed his trailer.People in this part of Louisiana — bayou country — have long learned to live under adverse weather conditions. But things have gotten much worse in recent years. Rising sea levels, erosion and storm after storm have flooded entire communities. For some French speakers, Hurricane Ida was the last straw, and now many are moving away.A year after Ida, Adams' trailer looks just as it did the day after the storm — twisted and torn apart with furniture spilling out, as if attacked by a pack of wild animals. Next to it is a new trailer, Adams' temporary home provided by FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Alces Adams in front of what is left of his trailer, Cut Off, Louisiana.  Credit: Courtesy of Julia Kumari Drapkin Adams was born a block away in his grandparents' house. His family's older generation spoke only French. Adams said his grandmother learned English, but refused to speak it, except for one word: “Yeah.” “English was forced on us about 100 years ago,” Adams said. That's when English was declared the only language of instruction in public schools.Adams recalled listening to his older relatives as they told him stories in French. Even then, he said, he considered the language beautiful. “I loved listening to that.”Adams' grandmother and others told him stories of storms and floods they had survived. It helped prepare him — still a child — when Hurricane Betsy battered the region in 1965.“I was thinking of getting a sash or vest or something: ‘I survived Betsy, Katrina, Ida,'" Adams said. “All the monsters that I survived."Adams doesn't know what's next for him. He comes from a long line of Cajuns who he said were compelled to move from one place to another, to escape poverty or discrimination, or hurricanes and flooding. The French language has been a constant in all of this generational change. Adams knows that each time a French speaker moves away, it's another micro-blow to the survival of French in southern Louisiana. Tulane University linguist Nathalie Dajko and Alces Adams in a storage unit containing Alces' possessions, Cut Off, Louisiana. Credit: Courtesy of Julia Kumari Drapkin Tulane University linguist Nathalie Dajko has been tracking the decline of French in Lafourche and neighboring Terrebonne Parishes for nearly 20 years. She was in graduate school at Tulane when Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005. It left hundreds of thousands of people homeless. Some even ended up in camps that were scattered across several southern states. Dajko visited a few of the camps as part of a gig she had with Save the Children, a nongovernmental organization.“Every now and again, we'd come across these French speakers,” Dajko said.“They would be so excited to meet somebody who spoke French, and they would talk about how they missed the French.”They told Dajko about constantly moving, about the language dying and the land eroding. She came to understand the strength of their attachment to the land. After that, she began visiting French speakers still living in bayou country. She recorded their conversations as part of a research project that eventually became a book, “French on Shifting Ground,” about the double loss of language and land. Louisiana French isn't standard Parisian French. But French has had longstanding roots in the region after France claimed it in 1682. With the area drawing French speakers, the language gained a foothold. It even spread to local Indigenous tribes in the 1700s. They'd formed protective alliances with the colonial French against the British. Some of their descendants still speak French, especially those who live closer to the ocean — and the floods and storms.Across a causeway from one of the larger bayous in Terrebonne Parish is an island called Isle de Jean Charles. Abandoned dwellings are everywhere: collapsed walls, caved-in roofs, debris. A couple of the houses are being fixed up. But most aren't. Near the end of the road, a house with a sign outside says, “Isle de Jean Charles is not dead. Climate change sucks.” Chris Brunet, who answered the door in a wheelchair, said he spoke French at home and English at school. Like Alces Adams, Brunet's grandmother only spoke French; his parents were bilingual. Everyone living on the island was a member of the Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw tribe.  Chris Brunet outside his home, Isle de Jean Charles, Louisiana.  Credit: Courtesy of Julia Kumari Drapkin Brunet said he's always lived on Isle de Jean Charles, even as most others left. “Hurricane Ida is the first storm to damage the house,” he said, pointing out his damaged roof. “But it's still standing and it's repairable.” It's one of the few salvageable dwellings here. Most are, as Brunet put it, “gone.”Also likely to be gone soon is this entire island. In the past 65 years, Isle de Jean Charles has shrunk from 22,000 acres to just 320. It's not just the storms. There are many reasons why the land is vanishing: rising sea levels, the rerouting of the Mississippi river — some of it natural, some engineered — canal construction, land erosion, some of that caused by oil and gas extraction. Then there's the levee system, expanded after Hurricane Katrina: a life-saver for those living within it; potentially catastrophic if you're on the outside of it.That's why Brunet, and almost everyone else on the island, is leaving, with federal government assistance, to a city 35 miles inland where virtually no one speaks French.“If I had to predict, I would suggest that people are not going to maintain French,” linguist Nathalie Dajko said. That's the usual pattern when a community is forced to move, Dajko added. As closely as they may stick together in their new home, they're leaving a place — an isolated place — that holds strong associations with the French language. Still, Dajko has studied these French and bilingual communities for close to two decades, and said they're full of surprises. “People have been predicting the death of Louisiana French for generations and it just won't die,” she said. “You cannot predict what people are going to do. They're worse than predicting the weather. They always do something you don't expect.”Dajko clings to this sliver of hope. Indeed, it is the hope of many in the region that the French language will survive the floods of bayou country. For more on the French speakers of southern Louisiana, listen to this episode of "Subtitle," a podcast about languages and the people who speak them. The Louisiana Policy Institute for Children (LPIC) says more than half of parents in Louisiana had to adjust their work or school schedule to provide child care in 2021. They've also found that families with an income below $20,000 were twice as likely to quit their job to care for their children. Director of partnerships at LPIC, Candace Weber, tells us more about the economic impacts of childcare in Louisiana, and how we can better support working parents. During World War II, roughly 25,000 Cajuns served their country, but many brought a special skill to the force: their ability to speak French. The so-called “Frenchies” translated documents, deciphered messages, and spoke directly to French-speaking Europeans. Now, they are being formally recognized for their contributions, including at a recent event at the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. For more on that event and the stories of these servicemen, we spoke with author and historian Jason Theriot, who published the three-volume book, “To Honor Our Veterans: An Oral History of World War II Veterans From the Bayou Country.” Today's episode of Louisiana Considered was hosted by Adam Vos. In Part II of the Cajun National Guard, we follow these young men to the shores of North Africa, Italy, and Southern France where they served as combat military police. Several hundred Cajuns from the Bayou Country made up the 2nd Battalion of the 156th Infantry Regiment. According to records, the 2nd Battalion was sent to North Africa “due to its French linguistic abilities.” These French-speaking Cajuns utilized their language skills in communication, intelligence gathering, interpreting, escort guard duty, transportation, and security. It was in French North Africa where these Cajun “Frenchies” first became highly sought after, and the military found many of them among the rank and file from the Louisiana National Guard.

Born and raised in the Bayou Country of Louisiana, Temple is an extraordinarily diverse actor who often is compared to a chameleon: he has the unique ability to take any character and make it his own. Other film credits include the ranger, Hollis in the summer, 2013 Disney blockbuster "The Lone Ranger," alongside Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer; Locus Fender in the action film "Domino," starring Kiera Knightley and Mickey Rourke, directed by Tony Scott and Rob Zombie's "The Devil's Rejects" with Bill Moseley, Sid Haig, William Forsythe, and Sherri Moon Zombie. Dale Bordelon is a gifted storyteller from Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana. In last week's episode (Episode 39, August 3, 2020), Dale described gathering various local raw materials from nearby swamps and hand-making his Louisiana cane calls and other tools-of-the-trade as tribute to Louisiana's traditional waterfowling culture. In today's episode, we crawl belly deep into tepid, tea-colored swampwater as he describes trapping dinosaur-like alligator snappers the size of chest freezers, catching monster alligators, shooting old shotguns, blending duck blinds perfectly into the environment and more.  Where'd Dale get the twine to wrap a special cane call he uses? How'd he catch those big, old snappers, what'd he do with them, and why did he quit? How does he make sure to catch BIG gators?  What's it like shooting pump shotguns from his grandad's era? It's another great episode depicting Louisiana duck hunting culture.     Related Links: Bayou Beast Calls   Episode Sponsors: BOSS Shotshells Benelli USA Shotguns GetDucks USHuntList   Connect with Ramsey Russell as he chases waterfowl hunting experiences worldwide and year-round: Insta @ramseyrussellgetducks YouTube @GetDucks Facebook @GetDucks

Louisiana's fabled waterfowling history stretches back centuries to the first French inhabitants, that thrived among its Spanish moss adorned swamplands like fish in water.  Their tools of the trade were by necessity hand-crafted from locally abundant materials as a practical way of feeding families, but became in that sense a true art form.  For Dale Bordelon, collecting natural materials from the Avoyelles Parish landscape near home then making his traditional cane calls, cypress dugouts and paddles, moss pirogue seats, and cypress root decoys completely by hand and without power tools is more about "connections to the old ways" than anything else.  What were Dale's earliest influences and how did he become interested in practicing this lost art? What's the distinction between creole, cajun, and coonass? How is cane selected and made into duck calls? And why is it important to him that everything be made completely by hand?  Dale is a gifted storyteller. He answers these questions and much more in the first of this 2-part series.    Related Links: Bayou Beast Duck Calls (Facebook)   Episode Sponsors: BOSS Shotshells Benelli USA Shotguns GetDucks USHuntList   Follow Ramsey Russell's 365-days-per-year worldwide waterfowl odyssey  Insta @ramseyrussellgetducks Youtube @GetDucks Facebook @GetDucks

John Fogerty had already picked up some popularity with his band The Golliwogs, but Uncle Sam came a-calling in 1966. In order to avoid being sent to Vietnam, he instead enlisted in the Army Reserves, where he served for a while until he was discharged honorably. In the days that followed the discharge, he wrote a song that he knew immediately would be a hit on the level of the bigger songs of the Tin Pan Alley days. And, given that other artists recorded the same song within a few months of its release, he was correct in that regard. The new owners of their label, Fantasy Records talked the band into changing their name to something a little less offensive in exchange for the opportunity to record a full-length album (rather than the singles they'd been making), and the band, not being fools, agreed immediately. The original name had come from Fantasy's previous owner, so they weren't really married to it anyway. Thus it was that The Golliwogs became Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Bayou Country their first album. Click here for a transcript of this show.

Við heyrum nokkur lög Af Boyou Contry með CCR í kvöld og A+B er að þessu sinni með The Jam. Þar fyrir utan heyrum við í R.E.M. - Neil Young, Teenage Fanclub, Rory Gallagher, Big Star, Sólstöfum, Edda Grön, Baby Voodrose frá Kaupmannahöf, Oasis, Stone Roses, Wilco, 200 frá Færeyjum Jeff Beck Group, Led Zeppelin og svo framvegis.

After the success of Bayou Country producer and primary songwriter John Fogerty would continue his run of great songwriting in this second of the three albums recorded in 1969. The band worked tirelessly shunning the drug scene and breaking free from the drawn out San Francisco psychedelic jams with a straight ahead stripped down southern rock n roll that sounded gutsy and refreshing to critics and listeners alike.

Los discos fundamentales del Rock: GREEN RIVER. CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL

The legendary Duke Bardwell and Kyle Ogle from Dread Clampitt did a set together, and also called up Luther Dickinson and played "Bayou Country" for the first time together...ever. That's what Duke said...and it was amazing. Enjoy the show...thanks to Duke and Kyle for the opportunity to record this session.
