http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Mickey's PhilharMagic at Disney California Adventure has received an update with the addition of a song and characters from Disney Pixar's Coco! Join us as we get Un Poco Loco on this episode of attraction checklist. Recorded on November 1, 2021. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we return to Disney California Adventure to see the updates to Mickey's PhilharMagic. The Disneyland Resort website describes this attraction saying: Immerse yourself in the wonder of Disney animation and music when you experience this 12-minute, 3D movie starring Donald Duck. There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and there isn't a thrill level listed either. We experienced the previous version of Mickey's PhilharMagic at California Adventure back in episode 72 of Attraction Checklist, but here are some more facts regarding the recent update. 1. It was announced on July 1, 2021, that Mickey's PhilharMagic would receive a brand new segment in the form of a musical number from Coco on July 17th. The addition would happen at Disney California Adventure and Disneyland Paris on July 17 and then later in 2021 at Walt Disney World. 2. The addition of Coco to Mickey's PhilharMagic in 2021 marks the first time a new segment has been added to the show since it's debut at Walt Disney Worlds Magic Kingdom in 2003. 3. Donald Duck appearing with characters from Coco marks the first time Disney and Pixar animators have worked on a project where characters from both animation studios would appear together on screen. 4. One of original composers from Coco, Germaine Franco returned to score the Coco section of the film. 5. The song ‘Un Poco Loco' from Pixar is featured in this update. According to Google Translate, Un Poco Loco means ‘a bit crazy.' Let's go check out the recently refreshed Mickey's PhilharMagic. I'm super excited to be joined by John B. deHaas again, this is the first time we've been in a Disney Park together since January of 2019. After we watch the film we'll give you our thoughts on this update! This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we check out Mickey's PhilharMagic at Disney California Adventure! http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Let's visit the Hundred Acre Wood on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom! Recorded on October 26, 2016. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. I realized it had been many episodes since we’d visited Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom so that’s where we are going this episode! We are off to Fantasyland to ride The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh! The guide map describes this attraction by saying: Travel through the Hundred Acre Wood in an oversized Hunny Pot. There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and the Thrill Level describes it a Slow Ride. Before we get blown away on a blustery day, here are five fast facts about The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. 1. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh opened at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom on June 4, 1999. 2. The attraction replaced the incredibly popular Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride that had been an opening day attraction at Magic Kingdom. Small nods to Mr. Toad are included in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh including a painting in Owl’s house showing Mr. Toad handing a deed over to Winnie the Pooh. 3. The ride vehicles for the attraction are motion enhanced. This allows for a ‘floating’ sensation the rain scene and the bouncing sensation when Tigger appears. 4. Many Voiceover legends plays parts in this attraction including Jim Cummings as Pooh, Tress MacNeille as Kanga and Paul Winchell as Tigger. This would be Winchell’s last performance of Tigger before he retired in 1999. 5. In 2010, the attraction was given a brand new queue area that features several interactive elements to occupy guests as they wait. Included in this is a treehouse play area. Guests who look closely at the carvings in the tree can spot a Nautilus submarine! A tribute to the classic 2000 Leagues Under The Seas attraction. Now let’s ride The Many Adventure of Winnie the Pooh at Magic Kingdom. After the ride I’ll give you my thoughts on this attraction. This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we head to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom to ride The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh! http://www.attractionchecklist.com - It's time to experience an iconic Disney attraction, Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. Joining me is John B. deHaas. We learn a little about the attraction and then give it a ride. Recorded on May 25, 2017. The attraction audio recorded for this episode is available exclusively to the Saturday Morning Media Patron Patron. Support the show and get fun Bonus content over at http://www.patreon.com/saturdaymorningmedia INTRO TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. It’s time to experience a classic! This episode we head to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom to take a spin on Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress. Located in Tomorrowland, the guide map describes this attraction thusly, “Travel through the 20th Century to see how technology has improved our way of life." There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and the thrill level describes this attraction as being a slow ride. Before we answer the age old question of just what is shining at the end of every day, here are five fast facts about Walt Disney’s Carousel of progress. 1. In the 1950’s Walt Disney came up with the foundation of the idea for the Carousel of Progress but the technology available to the Imagineers at the time made it impossible. It wasn’t until General Electric approached Walt Disney to develop a show for the 1964//65 World’s Fair that Walt was able to make the show a reality, opening on April 22, 1964. After a successful run at the Fair, the show was moved to Disneyland where it opened on July 2, 1967. The show ran at Disneyland until September 1973 when it was moved, at General Electric’s urging, to Walt Disney World. The show opened at the Magic Kingdom on January 15, 1975 and still runs daily at the time of this recording. 2. The carousel theatre concept, where the audience revolves around the stage, was developed by a team of imagineers led by Bob Gurr and Roger E. Broggie. This allowed the guests to remain seated during the duration of the show rather than getting up and moving to the next theatre as had been the original plan. 3. The attraction’s iconic song, There’s A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow’ was written by Disney Legends, The Sherman Brothers. When it first opened at Walt Disney World, it had a new song, also written by the Sherman Brothers called The Best Time Of Your Life. In 1993, when the show was given a major overhaul and an update, There’s A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow returned to the show. The Sherman Brothers have stated that that song, There’s A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow was Walt Disney’s Theme Song as he was always so optimistic about the future. 4. The show’s original narrator, playing the part of the father, was singing cowboy Rex Allen. When the show was overhauled in 1993, that role went to radio personality Jean Shepherd, author of the stories that inspired the movie A Christmas Story. Rex Allen was still in the show, this time playing the Grandfather in Act 3. One other voiceover note, Mel Blanc, the legendary voice actor behind Bugs Bunny and Daffy duck, plays Uncle Orville in the show. And Janet Waldo who voices the grandmother in Act 4 was also the voice of Judy Jetson on The Jetsons 5. Of the 32 different audio animatronic figures in the attraction, a crowd favorite is Rover, the family dog. In the current show, Rover is the dog’s name the entire time. When the attraction first opened at Walt Disney World, the dog had a different name in every scene including Buster, Sprot, Quieenie and Rover. Now let’s sit back and enjoy Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress. Joining me today is John B. dehaas and after the ride audio we’ll give you our shouts on this classic attraction. Stitch’s Great Escape opened at The Magic Kingdom on November 16, 2004. To celebrate the attraction’s opening, Cinderella’s Castle at Magic Kingdom was covered in toilet paper. Supposedly a prank by Experiment 626, Stitch, himself. 2. Stitch’s Great escape is the fourth attraction to occupy this show building in Tomorrowland. The original right was Flight To The Moon which later became Mission to Mars. After that, the building was home for ExtraTERRORestriel Alien Encounter. When that ride was shuttered, Stitch’s Great Escape moved in. 3. Several show elements from Alien Encounter remain in Stitch’s Great Escape. Including the alien known as Skippy during the pre-show. 4. With the attraction being based on the film Lilo and Stitch, many of the voice actors from the film reprise their roles in this attraction. This includes Kevin MacDonald as pleakly and Chris Sanders as Stitch. The storyline of this attraction takes place before the events of the movie. 5. The Stitch audio animatronic built for the show stands approximately 39” tall and is, reportedly, the first audio animatronic ever to spit. Now, let’s check out Stitch’s Great Escape. I have edited down the audio during the transitions between rooms to make the show flow a bit quicker. Keep listening after the attraction audio I’ll give you my thoughts on this attraction and if you have headphones, put them on now as this is a binaural recording of Stitch’s Great Escape at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. This week our show is dedicated to the classic Disney attraction The Haunted Mansion. This has been a staple to Disney parks around the world for decades and it all began back in 1969 at the original Disneyland park. This week we take a look at some fun facts about the residence of the 999 Happy Haunts. There are so many amazing contributions and stories we're going to look at that make this attraction what it is today. We'll even talk about some of the unofficial lore that has been created by cast members and fans over the years, including stories that have been officially adopted into the storyline by Disney. Then we'll listen to Imagineer Tony Baxter give a guided tour through the Haunted Mansion in Florida at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom park. From the gothic colonial New England facade on the outside to the "Pepper's Ghost" ballroom effect on the inside, there was much thought and detail put into the mansion when it was being designed and built. Who better to give an inside behind-the-scenes tour than the former Senior Vice President of Creative Development in Walt Disney Imagineering, Tony Baxter? If you would like to become an official All About the Mouseketeer send us an email to podcast@aatmcentral.com and tell us who you are and where you’re from. All of this, and much more, lies ahead on this week’s episode of the All About the Mouse Disney podcast – Your weekly dose of Disney magic and mayhem!

Welcome to Sam's Disney Diary Episode #5 -- The Little Mermaid: Ariels Undersea Adventure (Like this Episode? Check out the youtube channel at www.youtube.com/SamsDisneyDiary and follow me on twitter @SamsDisneyDiary) As the excitement and anticipation of the New Fantasyland continues, we can get a sneak peak at one of the new attractions with a quick visit to Disneyland Resorts California Adventure. Originally planned for Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Worlds Magic Kingdom in the mid 1990s, "The Little Mermaid" dark ride was "Shelved". Researching the history of the attraction I uncovered some very interesting things, including the virtual ride through of the "attraction never build" on the 2006 DVD version of the Little Mermaid. The Little Mermaid Attraction was revived when the Disney California Adventure and WDW Magic Kingdom expansions where announced. The DCA version of the attraction opened on June 3, 2011 replacing the Golden Dreams Theater and the WDW version will be part of the fantasyland expansion phase 1, to open in 2012. Hope you enjoy my quick history and ride through of the attraction... (((HEADPHONES STRONGLY RECOMMENDED))) Call or text with your comments!!! New number -> (805) 270-5785 In this episode of the Mouse Lounge, celebrate 70 years with the one that started it all, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. From the Walt Disney Family Museum: In a darkened theater filled to overflowing at the D23 Expo, I had the honor of sitting in the presence of true Disney legends and experts. Producer, Don Hahn moderates a panel discussion about Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In attendance were animator, Andreas Deja, who invoked life into Scar in the Lion King, and Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, Eric Goldberg, responsible for animating the Genie in Aladdin, and directing the jaw dropping Rhapsody in Blue and hilarious Flamingo with a Yo Yo sequences in Fantasia 2000, Disney historian and author, J.B. Kaufman, animation historian and prolific writer, Charles Solomon, and special guest, looking dazzling at 90 years young, Marge Gower Champion, the live action model for Snow White. Each week, in From the Vault we sample a clip from a classic Disney film, short, television or radio program, or Disneyland Record. This week we serve up a triple feature. At the beginning of 1938, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was taking America by storm. By using the radio medium, Walt was able to stoke the fire of his marketing machine promoting Snow White; while at the same time, entertaining a national audience. On January 2nd 1938, a radio episode of The Mickey Mouse Theater hit the airwaves, coupling elements from the picture with other famous Disney characters. Pay particular attention as Walt himself effortlessly goes from his natural speaking voice into character as Mickey. Next, scoop up slices of film from the cutting room floor and wonder, what if? Have a listen right here to the marvelous but deleted soup sequence from Snow White. Each week we present a high definition ride-through from a Disney Park East or a Disney Park West. This week, enjoy a one of a kind compare and contrast as you hear back to back versions of Snow Whites Scary Adventures, first in on the west coast in Disneyland then in Walt Disney Worlds Magic Kingdom. There are striking differences between the two. Which do you like better? We close the show with unique takes from the soundtrack. First from the newly remastered original soundtrack, the infectious Silly Song; then Satchmo Armstrong teaches you how to Whistle While You Work, and finishing with Ashley Tisdales turn at Some Day My Prince Will Come. Enjoy! Meandering Mouse and Meandering Mouse Club TV-(AUDIO and VIDEO) Disney Park Fun
Here's a Sneak Preview of Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor Comedy Club at WDW's Magic Kingdom. Posted live from Walt Disney World's Coronado Springs. I was able to catch some of the first sneak previews of Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor Comedy Club here at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom today. The imagineers are testing the attraction and working the bugs out. So far, I'd say the attraction is coming along fairly well and is a somewhat welcome addition to The Magic Kingdom. I'm still on the fence as to whether or not it truly fits into Tomorrowland, though. The show uses similar technology seen at Turtle Talk. There are three Monster comedians who take the stage and interact with the audience. The entire show is projected on three different video screens and one screen is used to pick people out of the crowd as they do in Turtle Talk. Cast Members wander the room with a mic to catch guests interacting with the comedians. Each guest interaction and the gags to go with it help fill the laugh canister which resides on the right side of the stage. The theming in the attraction is well done for the most part. The seating area is clever given that it really looks like a comedy club or lounge. They even have small lounge lamps mounted in front of the seats which sometimes flash with the laughs. My only complaint would be the quality of the animation seems to be lacking a bit. Turtle Talk is animated much more fluid and the images on the screen are more vivid. The projections at Laugh Floor appeared washed out a bit. MANY imagineers were on hand for the previews and were standing in the back of the theater throughout the show. They took a small audience survey at the end of the performance to gauge reaction to the new original characters. Meandering Mouse and Meandering Mouse Club TV-(AUDIO and VIDEO) Disney Park Fun
**Made for HEADPHONES** We start this episode with probably the most endearing / special piece of audio I've ever taken. I interviewed my 96 year old Grandmother while I was in Pittsburgh. Why you ask? It's simple. The Meandering Mimi was responsible for taking my Sister and I to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom for the very first time back in 1983 when I was 8 years old! This recorded discussion is our attempt at digging up all those magical memories which occured way back when. As you'll hear, it wasn't easy! Next up, we continue in the way back machine and explore some of the first EPCOT Center music ever presented to the public as a listener chimes in on the subject of EPCOT's BGM loops. The feature of the show will be an audio adventure around the World Showcase lagoon with my buddy, Patrick, and Earl from Trapped on Vacation. We meander around one evening experiencing The World Showcase exactly as it should be experienced: With no particular agenda other than to explore and take it all in. The audio wraps up with rides on Norway's Maelstrom and Mexico's El Rio Del Tiempo. Check out the DPN website changes going on now. More great things to come.
