http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Let's get a little spooky and head to Disney California Adventure to check out the Halloween Overlay known as Luigi's Honkin' Haul-O-Ween on this episode of Attraction Checklist.  Attraction audio recorded on September 21, 2023. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we head to Disney California Adventure Park to ride Luigi's Honkin' Haul-O-Ween. The Disneyland Resort website describes this attraction by saying: Celebrate Luigi's favorite holiday at the honkin'est dance party in Radiator Screams! Guests must be 32” or taller to ride this attraction and the Thrill Level calls it a Thrill Ride that is Loud with Spinning. Before we join Luigi and Guido for some spooky fun, here are five fast facts about Luigi's Honkin' Haul-O-Ween 1. Starting in 2017, Cars Land at Disney California Adventure got a spooky makeover for the Halloween Season.  Radiator Springs becomes Radiator Screams.  Several of the attractions got a holiday overlay including Luigi's Rollickin Roadsters which becomes Luigi's Honkin' Haul-O-Ween. 2. Luigi's Casa Della Tires gets a halloween makeover including the leaning tower of tires which sports hubcaps and treads that look like eyes and mouths. 3. Despite the overlay, the attraction retains it's ride time of approximately 2 minutes. 4. As of this episode's audio recording which was done in 2023, one of five different songs played while the cards were in motion.  These are all parodies of traditional Italian songs given a spooky edge.  They include: Honkin' Haul-O-Ween, Luigi the Hero, Haul-O-Ween Italiano, Chop Shop of Carsoli and Terror-Antella. 5. Disney released all the songs from the attraction in 2018 on an album called: Happy Haul-O-Ween from Cars Land: Spooky Songs From Mater and Luigi.  This album is available on most music streaming platforms. Let's ride Luigi's Honkin' Haul-O-Ween.  John B. deHaas is along for the fun and after we ride we'll give you our thoughts on this attraction.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we experience Luigi's Honkin' Haul-O-Ween at Disney California Adventure. Before we embark on our journey, here are five fast facts about the Sailing Ship Columbia. 1. The Sailing Ship Columbia opened at Disneyland park on June 14, 1958. 2. The story goes that in the early days of Disneyland, Walt Disney wanted more traffic on the Rivers of America.  He asked Joe Fowler to come up with an idea for a new ship and, after research, Fowler suggested the Columbia Rediviva - The first American vessel to circumnavigate the globe. 3.  The original designs for the ship were sketched out on a napkin by Ray Wallace.  The masts, rigging, spars and sails of the Columbia were constructed at Todd Shipyards, Los Angeles Division, San Pedro, CA 4. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we try our luck at the West Coast Version of Toy Story Midway Mania at Disney California Adventure. The Disneyland Resort website describes this attraction saying: Zip through an exhilarating 4D midway-style game starring Toy Story characters—and blast away! There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and Thrill Level describes the attraction as being Dark and Loud.  FastPass is available for this attraction. Before we head to the midway, here are five fast facts about Toy Story Midway Mania at Disney California Adventure. 1. Toy Story Midway Mania opened at Disney California Adventure on June 17, 2008. 2. It has been reported that it cost an estimated $80 Million dollars to design and build and it was the Walt Disney Company’s first use of industrial ethernet for a ride’s control system. 3. The attraction uses more than 150 computers to control guest’s experiences in the attraction. 4. Because the actual games are software controlled, they can be swapped out.  One such change took place on May 21, 2010 when characters from Toy Story 3 were added to the ride. 5. Music for the queue area was arranged and recorded by Jennifer Hammond at Capital records.   Now let’s go see if we can get the high score on Toy Story Midway Mania.  Along for the ride is my arch nemesis on this attraction, John B. deHaas and after we ride we’ll discuss our thoughts on this ride.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we ride Toy Story Midway Mania! http://www.attractionchecklist.com - To celebrate 100 episodes, Suzie and I take a ride on King Arthur Carrousel at Disneyland! Recorded on February 7, 2019. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. Before we start I just wanted to announce that this is the 100th episode of Attraction Checklist!  The show started in June of 2016 and is showing no signs of stopping.  I wanted to take a moment to thank a few people who’ve been instrumental in making the show what it is today.  Big thanks to Justin Hilden who designed the show's incredible logo, Stephen Staver who edits our episodes and makes them sound good, Paul Barrie and the Window to the Magic podcast who inspired the show. And to our regular riders Suzie, Dave Marquez, Tim Hinton and, of course John B. deHaas for knowing to be quiet while recording!  And finally, a big thanks to you, the show’s amazing listeners, for joining us for the ride!  Here’s to 100 more! I know we were just at Disneyland and I know we were just in Fantasyland but this is the 100th episode so I thought a Disneyland, opening day attraction would be in order so we’re going to take a spin on King Arthur Carrousel in Fantasyland at Disneyland. The Disneyland Resort website describes this attraction by saying: Spin around and go up and down to joyous music atop a regal steed at this popular attraction inspired by the Knights of the Round Table. There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and Thrill Level describes it as a Slow, Spinning Ride that is Loud. Before we hop on a horse, here are five fast facts about King Arthur Carrousel at Disneyland. 1. King Arthur Carrousel is a Disneyland Opening Day attraction, opening with the park on July 17, 1955 2. King Arthur Carrousel is actually older than Disneyland!  It was built in 1922 and operated at Sunnyside Beach in Toronto, Canada until that park closed.  It was moved to Disneyland in 1954 when the park was under construction. 3. When the Carrousel was moved to Disneyland, it only had three rings of horses and Disney and Arrow Development added another ring of horses to increase guest capacity. 4. The ride features 3,328 shimmering lights to make the ride even more magical at nighttime! 5. Each horse on the Carousel has a name and a complete list of those names is available at City Hall on Main Street.  The lead horse is named Jingles. Let’s go ride King Arthur Carousel.  Along for the ride is Suzie and during our review we discuss the difference between Carrousel with two R’s as it’s spelled for this attraction and Carousel with one R as it’s spelled elsewhere.  The answer is, there’s no difference they are both correct.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as celebrate 100 episodes by riding King Arthur Carrousel at Disneyland. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. Last episode I mentioned the Disney California Adventure attraction Goofy’s Sky School so I figured that’s where we would visit this episode!  The Disneyland website describes this roller coaster by saying: Soar high—and learn to fly the Goofy way—on this coaster-style attraction. Guests must be 42” or taller to ride this attraction and the Thrill Level describes it as being a Thrill Ride with Small Drops and also cautions that it is loud. Before we take off for the clouds, here are five fast facts about Goofy’s Sky School at Disney California Adventure. 1. This attraction is a wild mouse style roller coaster that was manufactured by coaster maker Mack Rides. 4. Before we get all emotional, here are five fast facts about Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. 1.  Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind opened on June 28, 2019. 2.  The attraction uses the same infrastructure as the Flick’s Fliers attraction we rode back in episode 57.  When Bug’s Land was closed at Disney California Adventure, Flick's Fliers was moved and rethemed to become the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. 3. Each spin on the emotional whirlwind features narration by one of the five emotions featured in the film Inside Out.  On the day the audio for this episode was recorded, I was able to get two of those different narrations, one while waiting in the line, the other while on the attraction.  Both are presented here. 4.  The queue are for the attraction features humorous vacation posters for destinations such as Imagination Land, Personality Island and Cloud Town 5. The ride received a major overhaul in 1983 that added many new elements and finally put Peter Pan in the attraction. 4. In 2015, the attraction closed for another major refurbishment and when it reopened, the attraction feature new animatronics and special effects including new projection mapping and fiber optics. 5. The Pirate Ships guests sit in use an OmniMover system to travel through the attraction.  This is the same system as the one used in Haunted Mansion but flipped allowing the pirate ships to fly through the air. Let’s head for the second star on the right and ride Peter Pan’s Flight.  Along for the adventure is John B. deHaas and after the ride we’ll give you our thoughts on this attraction.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we race off to Peter Pan’s Flight at Disneyland! http://www.attractionchecklist.com - In this episode, John B. deHaas and I head to Disneyland's Toontown to ride and review Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin!  Recorded on August 22, 2019. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. It’s time to head to the Toontown section of Disneyland to ride the zany dark-ride, Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin!  The Disneyland website describes this attraction by saying, “Steer a runaway taxicab through the wacky streets of Toontown as you follow the adventures of Roger Rabbit.”  There are no age or height requirements and the Thrill Level describes this attraction as being a Spinning Slow Ride that is Dark and Loud.  Fastpass is available for this attraction. Before we head to the Toontown Cab Company, here are five fast facts about Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin at Disneyland! 1. Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, an attraction based on the 1988 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, opened at Disneyland on January 26, 1994. 2.  Many actors in the film’s voice cast reprised their roles for this attraction.  Most notably, Charles Fleischer as Roger Rabbit and the legendary June Foray as the weasel gang member Wheezy. 3. The queue area for this attraction was one of first totally immersive queue areas in a Disney Park and there are several hidden sight gags throughout.  You can also peer into sections of the attraction while waiting in line giving you a preview of what’s to come.  Also see if you can decipher what each of the personalized license plates in the queue area spell out.  It’s a great way to pass the time. 4. Part dark ride, part spinning teacup, the Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin attraction features 17 Audio-Animatronics and close to 60 animated props. 5. One of the main features of this attraction is that your cab, Lenny, spins!  But in keeping with the film, he doesn’t spin until he hits the DIP poured out by the Weasels.   Now it’s time to ride Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin.  Along with me for the ride is John B. deHaas.  On the day we rode we had fast passes so we did not wait through the queue.  Perhaps in a future episode I’ll record some of that audio.  But for now, put on your headphones as this is a binaural recording of Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin at Disneyland! http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Join John B. deHaas and I as we take a hike up to the top of Tarzan's Treehouse at Disneyland! Recorded on December 2, 2018. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we take a hike to the top of Disneyland’s Tarzan’s Treehouse.  Located in Adventureland, Tarzan’s Treehouse is described on the Disneyland website by saying: Tour the legendary vine-swinger’s jungle home—built in an 80-foot-tall tree—and experience life on the wild side.  There are no height requirements for this attraction but guests must be ambulatory to experience it. Before we visit Tarzan and Jane, here are five fast facts about Tarzan’s treehouse at Disneyland. 1.  Tarzan’s Treehouse used to have much different residents.  Originally opening in November of 1962, this was the Swiss Family Treehouse and it stayed that way until it’s closure on March 8, 1999.  The treehouse was then retimed to the Disney movie Tarzan and reopened on June 23, 1999. 2.  The treehouse grew a little when it was retimed to Tarzan, gaining 10 more feet in the process! 3. The tree has been given the scientific name “Disneyodendron Semperflorens Grandis," which means "large, ever-blooming Disney tree." 4. Subtle nods to the Swiss Family Treehouse are present in Tarzan’s Treehouse, including the Mind Thy Head sign which is still present. 5. Eagle eyed guests will spot a Beauty and the Beast Easter egg in a teapot and chipped tea cup that bear a striking resemblance to Mrs. Potts and Chip. Now let’s swing up to Tarzan’s Treehouse. Joining me today is John B. deHaas and after we walk through we’ll discuss our thoughts on this attraction. http://www.attractionchecklist.com - The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is the marquee attraction of Disney's Hollywood Studios.  In this episode, John and I check in to the Hollywood Tower Hotel to review Tower of Terror! Recorded on March 20, 2019. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode John B. deHaas and I return to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to ride one of the park’s signature attractions, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror!  The guide map describes this attraction saying Take a thrilling ride into the twilight zone aboard a haunted elevator.  Guests must be 40 inches or taller to ride this attraction.  The thrill level describes it as a Thrill Ride with Big Drops that is loud and scary.  Fastpass+ is available. Before we visit the Hollywood Tower Hotel, here are five fast facts about The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 1.  The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on July 22, 1994. 2.  In order to get the perfect free-fall effect for guests, imagineers actually attached cables to the bottom of the elevators to pull them down faster than a regular free fall would.  The elevator cars can reach speeds of 39 miles per hour!  15 times the speed of a regular elevator. 3. In 2004, the attraction was reprogrammed to use a randomized series of drops.  This provides each group of guests with a completely different experience each time they ride. This led to the promotional slogan: Never the Same Fear Twice 4.  The attraction’s pre-show was directed by director Joe Dante, known for directing such horror films as Piranah, The Howling and Gremlins 2: The New Batch.  5. One of my favorite Tower of Terror facts is that it can actually be seen from EPCOT’s World Showcase Lagoon!  The top of the Tower of Terror was decorated so that it blended in with the skyline of the Morocco pavilion and be less noticeable. Now it’s time to ride The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror!  After the ride, John and I will discuss our thoughts on this attraction so stay tuned for that.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now as we ride The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Recorded on March 20, 2019. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. In this episodes we Meet The Muppets as we head to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to watch Muppet*Vision 3D.  The park’s guide map says: Experience the magic of The Muppets in this 3D extravaganza.  There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and, funnily enough, no Thrill Level is listed.  That said, FastPass+ is available.   Before we visit Muppet Labs, here are five fast facts about Muppet*Vision 3D 1. Muppet*Vision 3D opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 16, 1991.  This was well before Disney purchase the rights for the Muppets making the attraction a unique collaboration between Jim Henson Productions and Walt Disney Imagineering.  Disney purchased the Muppets in 2004. 2.  Muppet*Vision 3D is Jim Henson’s last Muppet film as director and one of his final performances as Kermit the Frog.  Jim Henson died in 1990 before production on the film was complete.  Muppet*Vision 3D would also be the final film performance of Muppeteer Richard Hunt who played Scooter, Sweetums and Beaker amongst others in the show.  Richard Hunt died in 1992 3. The script for Muppet*Vision 3D was written by Bill Prady who also wrote the script for the Honey, I Shrunk The Audience attraction.  Bill Prady would later go on to co-write the 2015 revival of The Muppets on ABC but his most successful venture has been co-creating the hit tv series The Big Bang Theory. 4.  When the show first opened, puppeteers from The Jim Henson Company were on hand to train the suit performers who would be operating Sweetums in the exact methods of how the character should walk and move.  In recent years, Sweetums will pop out into the lobby briefly to wave to the fans waiting to enter the theater.  This doesn’t happen all the time but it is pretty unique when it does. 5. In 2014, around the release of the film Muppets Most Wanted, the villain Constantine was added to the pre-show as if he was interrupting the broadcast.  This interruption remained in the pre-show until December of 2016. Let’s not waste any time, let’s start the show.  Joining me once again is John B. deHaas and after the show we’ll give you our thoughts on this attraction.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we experience MuppetVision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Now we covered Splash Mountain at Disneyland back in episode 8 and the development of the ride at Magic Kingdom followed the same path, but here are some more fast facts about Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom. 1.  Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom opened officially on October 2, 1992.  Interestingly, the Splash Mountain attraction in Tokyo Disneyland opened the day before making for almost simultaneous attraction openings. 2.  The original Splash Mountain in Disneyland is located in the Critter Country area of the park.  With no Critter Country in Magic Kingdom, Imagineers decided to build the attraction in Frontierland. 3. Because of the attraction being located in Frontierland, the soundtrack of Magic Kingdom’s Splash Mountain differs in instrumentation from Disneyland’s.  Disneyland’s features more of a big band sound while Magic Kingdom’s soundtrack has a more bluegrass feel. 4.  Nick Stewart who voiced B’rer Bear in the film, Song of the South also voices the character in this attraction. 5. The Magic Kingdom version of Splash Mountain has 68 animatronics.  Far fewer than Disneyland’s 103.  Of course, the Magic Kingdom Splash Mountain didn’t have the benefit of the closing of America Sings! The animals that called DIsney’s Animal Kingdom home got a sneak preview of Rivers of Light before anyone else.  For months before the show opened, the soundtrack of the show along with prerecorded audience noise was played as the park’s animals were bedding down for the night so they could get used to the new sounds in their environment. 4.  The music for Rivers of Light was composed by the team of Don Harper, Mark Mancina and Dave Metzger with lyrics by Miriam Stockley who also performs some of the chants during the show.   5. Before we skip school to become actors, here are five fast facts about Pinocchio’s Daring Journey. 1. Though this attractions feels like a classic, Disneyland Opening Day attraction, it actually opened at Disneyland on May 23, 1983. 2.  The outside of the attraction is based on concept art that artist Gustaf Tengren did for the movie Pinicchio for Stromboli’s theatre before production decided to make Stromboli a traveling performer. 3. Before you head inside to ride this attraction, take a look at the roof of the building and see if you can spot the weather vane in the shape of Monster the Whale.  It’s a little warning of things to come. 4. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. It’s time to take a gran circle tour of Disneyland on the Disneyland Railroad.  Disneyland’s website says, “Embark on a relaxing 18-minute scenic journey aboard an authentic steam-powered train around Disneyland Park.”  There are no age or height restrictions to ride the train and the Thrill Level describes the attraction as being Slow, dark and loud.  Before we climb aboard, here are five fast facts about the Disneyland Railroad. Before we begin our mountain climbing adventure, here are five fast facts about Disneyland’s Matterhorn Bobsleds. 1. The Disneyland Railroad began operation on Disneyland’s opening day on July 17, 1955.  In fact, Walt Disney himself pulled the train into Main Street Station that morning on his way to give the park’s opening dedication. 2.  The Railroad features five restored steam locomotives named C.K. Holliday, E.P. Ripley, Ernest Marsh, Fred Gurley and the Ward Kimball,  The first four are named after American locomotive legends, the fifth, the Ward Kimball, is named after the Disney animator who is credited for inspiring Walt Disney’s love of trains.  The older locomotive, the Fred Gurly, was built in August of 1894. 3. One of the most anticipated parts of the Grand Circle Tour is the journey through the Grand Canyon and Primeval World Dioramas.  The Grand Canyon diorama debuted in 1958 and features an amazing background mural painted by Delmer J. Yoakum that is 306 feet long and 34 feet tall.  The Primeval world diorama opened in 1966 and features audio animatronic dinosaurs that were build for the Ford’s Magic Skyway attraction in the 1964 New York World’s Fair. 4. The Railroad features a special train car, the Lilly Belle, named after Walt Disney’s wife Lillian.  It is the last remaining ‘opening day’ car that is still in service, albeit only occasionally.  Guests can pay to ride in the car as part of the separately ticketed Gran Circle Tour.  Sometimes the first 14 guests in line at Main Street Station when the park opens in the morning will get a chance to ride in it as well. 5. http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Join John B. deHaas and I as we brave the Matterhorn mountain and ride Disneyland's Matterhorn Bobsleds!  Recorded on July 27, 2018. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. Let’s head to Disneyland to conquer one of the park's many mountains!  It’s time to ride the Matterhorn Bobsleds.  The Disneyland website describes this attraction by saying, "Careen through a snow-capped mountain on a speeding alpine sled while avoiding the clutches of the mythic Abominable Snowman." Guests must be 42” or taller to ride and Fastness and Single Rider options are available for this attraction.  The thrill level describes the Matterhorn Bobsleds as being a Thrill and Water ride with Small Drops that is Dark, Loud and Scary. Before we begin our mountain climbing adventure, here are five fast facts about Disneyland’s Matterhorn Bobsleds. 1.  The Matterhorn Bobsleds opened at Disneyland on June 14, 1959.  Located on the border of Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, the Matterhorn Bobsleds was not officially a part of any land until the 1970s, when the attraction became a permanent part of Fantasyland. 2.  The Matterhorn Bobsleds holds the distinction of being the first tubular steel roller coast in the world. 3. The ride’s famous Abomidable Snowman was given the name Harold by Disney Imagineers when he took up residence in the mountain in the 1970s. 4. On January 5, 2015, the ride began an extensive refurbishment to install new new effects and updated animatronics for Harold.   One of the original Harold figures can now be spotted in the Collectior’s Collection at the Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout attraction at Disney California Adventure 5. Yes, the rumors are true.  There is a basketball hoop inside the Matterhorn.  While not a regulation sized half-court, there is a basketball hoop and playing area in the attraction that is said to have been used by the mountain climber who scaled the mountain regularly to wave at guests down below. And now, let’s ride the Matterhorn Bobsleds.  Along for the ride is John B. deHaas and after we ride, we’ll give you our initial thoughts on this classic attraction.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now as we are about to experience, the Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland. Before we visit this 999 happy haunts, here are 5 fast facts about Disneyland's The Haunted Mansion. 1. The Hunted Mansion opened its doors to guests for the first time on August 9, 1969. 2. Although the Haunted Mansion resides in Disneyland’s New Orlean’s Square, the inspiration for the mansion came from The Shipley-Lydecker House which was located in Baltimore, Maryland. 3.  The voice of Madame Leota, the mystical head inside the crystal ball was provided by voice actress Eleanor Audley who also provided the voices of Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty and the Wicked Stepmother in Cinderella. 4. Did you know that the three hitchhiking ghosts at the end of the attraction all have names?  The short one with the ball and chain is Gus, the tall one is Ezra and the one carrying the carpet bag is Phineas. 5.  On April 10, 2015, it was announced that The Hatbox Ghost would be returning to Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion.  The Hatbox Ghost was an opening day spirit who was removed shortly after opening because his effect did not work as well as Imagineers had hoped.  With new technology, he returned to the Haunted Mansion on May 9, 2015. On today’s supersized episode, we bid goodbye to A Bug’s Land at Disney California Adventure by experiencing 4 of the area’s attractions, Tuck & Roll’s Drive ‘em Buggies, Francis’ Ladybug Boogie, Flick’s Fliers and, of course, Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train. This area is described on the Disneyland website in the following manner: “See the world from a bug's perspective in this playful land full of insect-sized surprises based on the Disney·Pixar film, a bug's life!”  Only Tuck and Roll’s Drive ‘em Buggies has a height requirement of 36” the rest have no height restrictions. Before we take a final ride on all these attractions, here are five fast facts about A Bug’s Land. 1. The area’s anchor attraction, It’s Tough To Be a Bug was a Disney California Adventure opening day attraction, but the rest of the rides opened in an area known as Flick’s Fun Fair in the newly names area A Bug’s Land on October 7, 2002. 2. The storyline behind A Bugs Land is the bugs built the A Bugs Land attractions when they saw Disney California Adventure being built next to them.  The imagineers discovered the bug theme attractions while building The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and then opened the land to all. 3. Several of the voice actors from A Bug’s Life provided their voices for attractions in A Bug’s Land including Dave Foley as Flick and Joe Ranft as Heimlich. 4.  On March 20, 2018, Disney announced that A Bug’s Land would close to make way for a new Marvel Themed Land opening in 2020.  The rides featured on today’s episode closed on September 5, 2018. 5.  While not totally confirmed, so therefore not really a fact, it is assumed that Flick’s Fliers will be moved over to Pixar Pier when A Bug;s Land closes.  The attraction will be retimed to the Disney Pixar movie Inside Out for an attraction called the Emotional Whirlwind. Now it’s time to bid farewell to A Bug’s Land with a ride of four of it’s different attractions.  Along for the adventure today is Suzie, but John B. deHaas also took one last ride on Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train so that attraction will feature two reviews!  These are binaural recordings so put on your headphones as we head to Disney California Adventure to say goodbye to A Bug’s Land. Guests must be 46” or taller to ride this attraction and The Thrill levels says this ride is a Thrill ride with small drops that is Dark Loud and Scary.  Fastpass is available for this attraction. Before we meet up with Indiana Jones, here are five fast facts about Disneyland’s Indiana Jones Adventure. 1. In August of 1993, construction began on the Indiana Jones Adventure.  The project was so massive that part of the Jungle Cruise River and the Monorail track had to be rerouted in order to accommodate it. 2. The attraction officially opened on March 4, 1995 as part of Disneyland’s 40th anniversary called 40 Years of Adventure. 3. Indiana Jones Adventure has one of the most immersive and carefully detailed queues that lead guests deep into the temple of the forbidden eye.  Petroglyphs throughout the queue warn guests of the dangers ahead.  In the first two years of operation, guests were given decoder cards so they could translate the petroglyphs in the queue area. 4. The ride vehicles for the attraction are known as Enhanced Motion Vehicles.  Even though it often feels like you’re going much faster, each vehicle only has a maximum speed of 14 miles per hour.  As the vehicles are computer controlled, the ride experience is never exactly the same no matter how many times you ride it. 5. Three audio-animatronic figures of Indiana Jones appear in the attraction.  And the character is voiced by the suitably named actor David Temple. To celebrate the 50th episode of Attraction Checklist, we are going to cover one my all time favorite Disney attractions, Walt Disney World’s Country Bear Jamboree.  Located in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland, The County Bear Jamboree is described in the guide map with this brief sentence: Have a knee-slappin’ time with these singing bears!  There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and there is also no Thrill Level listed! Before we clap our hands and stomp our feet and try to keep right with ‘em, here are five fast facts about Walt Disney World’s Country Bear Jamboree. 1. The Country Bear Jamboree was originally planned for Disney’s Mineral King Ski Resort which was to be built in California and Walt was in on the early discussions of the attraction.  In fact, it was one of the final attractions Walt personally helped develop.  After Walt’s passing, plans for the ski resort fell through but Imagineers decided the attraction would be a perfect fit for Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World and the bears had their first performance on Magic Kingdom’s opening day, October 1, 1971. 2. Imagineer Marc Davis led the design of the characters for the show and Imagineer X Atencio and musical director George Burns created and curated the songs the bears would sing in the show. 3.  The Country Bear Jamboree proved to be so popular, it was given brand new songs and a holiday overlay in 1984 when the Country Bear Christmas Special debuted.  In 1986, it was given another new show with a summer theme called the Country Bear Vacation Hoedown.  The Vacation Hoedown continued at Walt Disney World until 1992.  The Christmas Special remained in rotation until 2005.  The show reverted back to the original show year round at that time. 4.  In August of 2012, the show went down for a two month refurbishment and when it reopened on October 17, 2012, the original show had been edited with songs and dialogue removed, cutting the show down about 4 to 5 minutes in length. 5.  One of the attraction’s most popular characters is Big Al who sings Blood on the Saddle.  Big Al was voiced by Country Music Hall of Fame member Tex Ritter.  It is said that Tex Ritter did not tell his children (including actor John Ritter) that he provided the voice for Big Al, instead leaving it as a surprise for the first time they visited the Magic Kingdom and saw Big Al in person. One other thing before we get to the show, if you enjoy the Country Bear Jamboree as much as I do, be sure to check out the other podcast I produce, The Country Bear Collector Show.  It’s a weekly video show dedicated to the amazing merchandise of The Country Bear Jamboree.  you can find out more at www.CBJCollector.com. This episode we venture to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World to hunt the Yeti on Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain.  'Ride a speeding train through the Himalayan mountains while avoiding the clutches of the Yeti' is how the attraction is described in the guidemap. Guests must be 44” tall to ride this attraction and the thrill level describes this attraction as a thrill ride that is dark with big drops.  There is a single rider line for this attraction and FastPass+ is available. Before we head up the mountain, here are five fast facts about Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain. 1. Expedition Everest was announced on April 22, 2003 during a celebration for Animal Kingdom’s fifth anniversary.  Almost three years later, the ride opened for previews on January 26, 2006 and then celebrated it’s grand opening on April 7, 2008 2. Expedition Everest’s track is 4,424 feet long and the trains can reach speeds of 50 miles per hours during the ride. 3.  Expedition Everest is the first Disney roller coaster to switch between having trains run forwards and backwards during a single ride.  It was the second Disney roller coaster to go backwards, the first being Indiana Jones et le Temple du Peril: Backwards which operated in a backwards configuration from 2000-2004 at Disneyland Paris 4.  The mountain built for Expedition Everest is currently the tallest at Walt Disney World at 199.5 feet.  They would have gone higher but any structure over 200 feet would need a blinking red light for low flying planes which imagineers felt would take guests out of the experience. 5.  Finally, let’s talk about the Yeti.  At the time it was built, the Yeti is the largest and most complex audio-animatronic ever built by Walt Disney Imagineering standing at 25 feet tall.  A few months after the attraction opened, the animatronic’s framing split which could have signaled disaster if it continued to operate at it’s full capacity.  Since then, the figure has only operated with extremely limited movement and the addition of a strobe light to simulate movement.  Disney Imagineers have said they are always looking for a way to fix the issue but it’s difficult as the mountain was build around the figure. Let’s now ride Expedition Everest!  Along for the ride today is John B. deHaas and after we ride we will give you our thoughts on this attraction.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we head to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to ride Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain. This episode we are headed back to Walt Disney World to ride DINOSAUR atDisney’s Animal Kingdom.  The guide map describes this attraction in the following manner, “Take off on a rip-roaring prehistoric tour in the dark to save a dinosaur from extinction.  There is a height requirement of 40” for this attraction and the Thrill Level describes the attraction as a Thrill ride with Small Drops that is Dark and Scary.  Fastpass+ is available for this attraction. Before we head off to the Dino Institute, here are five fast facts about DINOSAUR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. 1. DINOSAUR is a Disney’s Animal Kingdom opening Day attraction, opening with the park on April 22, 1998. 2. DINOSAUR uses the same ride vehicles and a very similar track layout to the Disneyland Attraction Indiana Jones and the Forbidden Eye.  The storylines are, obviously, different. 3.  For about 3 years after the attraction opened, it was called Countdown To Extinction.  The name was changed to DINOSAUR on May 1st, 2001 to tie in with the Disney movie of the same name.  A few subtle references to the older name can still be seen in the attraction, most notably on the ride vehicles that are each stamped with the name CTX Rover. 4.  The ride’s preshow stars Phylicia Rashad as Dr. Marsh and Wallace Langham as Dr. Seeker.  The attraction stars 11 audio-animatronic dinosaurs including one of the star of the Disney film Dinosaur, Aladar, 5.  Finally, in the loading are, guests can look up and see three pipes, one red, one yellow and one white.  All three have chemical formulas written on them.  These are the formulas for Ketchup, Mustard and Mayonnaise.  This is a throwback easter egg from when the ride was originally sponsored by McDonalds. With the learning out of the way, let’s hop in our Rovers and head back in time and ride DINOSAUR.  I have included the preshow in this recording but I have edited a bit of the time between the preshow and boarding the ride vehicles so things move a little quicker.  Along for the fun today is John B. deHaas and after we ride we’ll discuss our thoughts oaths attraction.  If you’d like to see our ride photo from this ride through, beside to visit the show notes page for this episode, episode 45 over at AttractionChecklist.com.  As usual, this is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, now is the time to put them on as we are headed to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to ride DINOSAUR. Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me.  It is time to head to Walt Disney World and experience the recently updated, Pirates of the Caribbean.  Located in Adventureland in Magic Kingdom, the guide map describes this attraction in the following manner: Embark on a voyage to a time when pirates ruled the sea. The thrill lever describes the ride as being slow, dark and having small drops.  There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and FastPass Plus is available. Now, before we set sail, here are five fast facts about Pirates of the Caribbean at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. 1. Pirates of the Caribbean opened at Magic Kingdom on December 16, 1973. 2. The attraction features a whopping 126 animatronic figures and 69 of them are pirates.  The flume for the attraction contains around three quarter of a million gallons of water that cycles through at about 18,000gallons per minute. 3.  The attraction’s theme song "Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me)" was written by George Bruns and X. Atencio. 4.  Over the years several changes to some of the themes in the attraction have been tweaked to stay current with the sensibilities of the time but the biggest change to the attraction came in 2006 when elements from the films the attraction inspired were added to the attraction in the form of a new overall storyline featuring Johnny Depp’s character from the films, Captain Jack Sparrow. 5.  In March of 2018, the attraction reopened from a refurbishment with even more changes and the ‘Bride Auction’ scene now featured the pirates selling off goods from the village and the iconic Redhead in the scene is now a pirate herself, who helps keep the rowdy pirates in line.  The audio for today’s episode was recorded just a few days after that reopening. This episode, by request, we head back to EPCOT in Walt Disney World to ride The Land pavilion’s signature attraction, Living With The Land.  As of this recording, this attraction has a sponsor as it it presented by Chiquita.  The guide map describes this attraction in the following manner, “Sail through the greenhouses of The Land to see nine-pound lemons and more.”  Seriously, that’s how this attraction is described in the guide map.  The Thrill Level describes this attraction as being a Slow Ride.  Before we go check out those nine-pound lemons, here are five fast facts about Living with the Land. 1. Living with the Land is an EPCOT opening day attraction having opened with the park on October 2, 1982.  When it opened the attraction opened, it was called Listen to the Land but the name was changed in 1993. 2. There are 35 animatronics in this attraction including monkeys, buffalo, goats a dog and a rooster to name a few.  Perhaps to drive home the thought of living with the natural environment, there are no human animatronics on the attraction. 3.  The audio animatronics seen during the American Prairie sequence of the ride, we actually built before EPCOT even opened.  They were originally meant to be part of a Magic Kingdom attraction called the Western River Expedition, but that ride was scrapped in favor of building Pirates of the Caribbean instead. 4.  As you pass by the farmhouse, you’ll see the number ’82’ painted on the mailbox.  This is a small tribute to the year EPCOT opened, 1982. 5.  When the attraction originally opened, each boat was captained by a cast member who took you on the tour, these were later replaced by a pre=recorded narration.  Also, the attraction used to feature the classic song, “Listen To The Land” written by Bob Moline.  Though the song is no longer featured on the ride, an instrumental version of it plays in the land pavilion several times a day. And now, let’s ride Living with the Land.  Joining me today is John B. deHaas and after the ride audio we’ll give you our shouts on this classic attraction.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now as we are about to experience Living with the Land at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT! It’s time to experience a classic!  This episode we head to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom to take a spin on Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress.  Located in Tomorrowland, the guide map describes this attraction thusly, “Travel through the 20th Century to see how technology has improved our way of life."  There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and the thrill level describes this attraction as being a slow ride.  Before we answer the age old question of just what is shining at the end of every day, here are five fast facts about Walt Disney’s Carousel of progress. 1. In the 1950’s Walt Disney came up with the foundation of the idea for the Carousel of Progress but the technology available to the Imagineers at the time made it impossible.  It wasn’t until General Electric approached Walt Disney to develop a show for the 1964//65 World’s Fair that Walt was able to make the show a reality, opening on April 22, 1964.  After a successful run at the Fair, the show was moved to Disneyland where it opened on July 2, 1967.  The show ran at Disneyland until September 1973 when it was moved, at General Electric’s urging, to Walt Disney World.  The show opened at the Magic Kingdom on January 15, 1975 and still runs daily at the time of this recording. 2.  The carousel theatre concept, where the audience revolves around the stage, was developed by a team of imagineers led by Bob Gurr and Roger E. Broggie.  This allowed the guests to remain seated during the duration of the show rather than getting up and moving to the next theatre as had been the original plan. 3.  The attraction’s iconic song, There’s A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow’ was written by Disney Legends, The Sherman Brothers.  When it first opened at Walt Disney World, it had a new song, also written by the Sherman Brothers called The Best Time Of Your Life.  In 1993, when the show was given a major overhaul and an update, There’s A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow returned to the show.  The Sherman Brothers have stated that that song, There’s A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow was Walt Disney’s Theme Song as he was always so optimistic about the future. 4.  The show’s original narrator, playing the part of the father, was singing cowboy Rex Allen.  When the show was overhauled in 1993, that role went to radio personality Jean Shepherd, author of the stories that inspired the movie A Christmas Story.  Rex Allen was still in the show, this time playing the Grandfather in Act 3.  One other voiceover note, Mel Blanc, the legendary voice actor behind Bugs Bunny and Daffy duck, plays Uncle Orville in the show.  And Janet Waldo who voices the grandmother in Act 4 was also the voice of Judy Jetson on The Jetsons 5.  Of the 32 different audio animatronic figures in the attraction, a crowd favorite is Rover, the family dog.  In the current show, Rover is the dog’s name the entire time.  When the attraction first opened at Walt Disney World, the dog had a different name in every scene including Buster, Sprot, Quieenie and Rover. Now let’s sit back and enjoy Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress.  Joining me today is John B. dehaas and after the ride audio we’ll give you our shouts on this classic attraction.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now as we are about to experience Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at Walt Disney WOrld’s Magic Kingdom!   FOLLOW US http://www.facebook.com/attractionchecklist  http://www.facebook.com/saturdaymorningmedia  http://www.twitter.com/SaturdayMMedia  https://plus.google.com/+Saturdaymorningmedia  https://www.linkedin.com/company/saturday-morning-media http://www.youtube.com/user/SaturdayMorningMedia?sub_confirmation=1 FOLLOW GRANT http://www.MrGrant.comhttp://www.twitter.com/toasterboy  https://instagram.com/throwingtoasters/ Sources: WALT DISNEY WORLD WEBSITEhttps://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_GB/attractions/magic-kingdom/walt-disney-carousel-of-progress/ WIKIPEDIAhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walt_Disney%27s_Carousel_of_Progress ALLEARS.NEThttp://allears.net/tp/mk/mk_cop.htm Show ©2018 Saturday Morning Media/Grant Baciocco

Mission: SPACE had it’s Grand Opening on October 9, 2003 though it went through a soft opening in the months before.  When it opened there was only one side experience.  It wasn’t until May of 2006 that the less intense, non-spinning Green Mission was open giving riders two ride options. 2.  At 2017’s D23 Expo, it was announced that Green Mission would be getting its own unique ride video, dubbed Mission: Earth that would debut on August 13, 2017, the date the audio for this episode was recorded. 3.  When the Relaunched! Mission: SPACE opened in August of 2017, actor Gary Sinese, who’d been the ride’s CapCom had been replaced by actress Gina Torres. 4.  The new Green Mission still gives rider assignments for the trip of Navigator, Pilot, Commander or Engineer and each rider has the opportunity to push buttons at various points on the trip.  If the riders do not push the button in time, a storyline ‘computer override’ will occur. 5.  While on the Green Mission, riders see simulated views of Earth from space including The Grand Canyon, The Hawaiian Islands, The Great Wall of China and more.  All these visuals are accompanied by a brand new musical score for the ride. Before we take a spin for ourselves, here are five fast facts about Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters. 1.  Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters opened in Disney California Adventure on March 7, 2016.  The attraction was a replacement for the Cars Land original attraction Luigi’s Flying Tires.  2.  As mentioned at the top of the show, this is the first attraction at Disneyland Resort to utilize a trackless vehicle system, meaning that as the cars move and spin around the quote/unquote dance floor they do so without the aid of any sort of track system.  There are 18 different paths that each car can take at any time making each ride on this attraction truly  different. 3.  The attraction features Luigi and his cousins singing several car themed takes on classic Italian songs.  The songs play randomly lending even more to that ‘every ride is different’ feel of the attraction. 4.  Half of Luigi’s cousins, the ride vehicles’ are male and the other half are female.  Grill mustaches on the male cars make it easy to tell the difference.  Each of the ride vehicles also has its own name and each of the cars is unique except for two ‘twin sister’ cars, Rosa and Gina, but even they are different as they have different color eyes. 5.  In September of 2017, it was announced that Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters would receive a Halloween Themed Makeover called Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-o-ween complete with brand new spooky songs and halloween decorations. Let’s take a trip to Disneyland’s Fantasyland and enjoy a leisurely cruise on the Storybook Land Canal Boats.  The Disneyland website describes this attraction by saying, “Cast off on a colorful canal boat for a “mini” tour of fairytale destinations seen in classic Disney animated movies.”  There are no height restrictions for this attraction and the thrill level describes the attraction as being a slow ride and a water ride. Before we set sail, here are five fast facts about Disneyland’s Storybook Land Canal Boats. 1.  The Storybook Land Canal Boats is a Disneyland, opening day attraction.  Although when the attraction opened on July 17, 1955, it lacked the landscaping and miniature houses it is known for today.  After only two months of operation, the attraction was closed and when it reopened in June of 1956 the landscaping and miniature houses had been added. 2.  The lighthouse at the entrance to the queue line is the former ticket booth from when Disneyland guests needed tickets to ride the attractions.  In those days, the Storybook Land Canal boats were a D ticket attraction. 3.  The attraction’s fleet of electric inboard motor powered boats are each named after a Disney character including Alice, Belle, Merryweather and Wendy. 4.  As you will hear, guests on the attraction sail past miniature replicas of locations from Disney animated films including the houses of the Three little pigs, The Dwarves Cottage from Snow White and Cinderella’s Castle.  Over the years, miniature buildings from newer Disney animated films have been added to the attraction. in 1994, the Sultan’s Palace from Aladdin was added and in 2014, several buildings form the movie Frozen were added. 5.  The doors of many of the buildings guests see on this attraction actually open and close.  Not only does this add to the realism, it allows Disneyland employees to change and light bulbs that burn out inside the buildings. Let us now set sail on our cruise of Storybook land.  Along for the ride is John B. deHaas who will be experiencing the attraction for the first time.  You’ll hear his thoughts on this Disneyland Classic as well as mine after the ride audio.  This is a binaural recording, so if you have headphones, put them on now as we experience Disneyland’s Storybook Land Canal Boats. This episode we are going to say goodbye to a recently extinct attraction, Ellen’s Energy Adventure at the Universe of Energy Pavilion at EPCOT at Walt Disney World.  EPCOT’s guide map described the attraction in the following way: Take a multimedia romp through time and Ellen DeGeneres’ subconscious at Universe of Energy. There were no age or height requirements for this attraction. Before we take one last ride, let’s zap through five fast facts about  on Ellen’s Energy Adventure. 1.  Ellen’s Energy Adventure was located in the Universe of Energy Pavilion in EPCOT’S Future World East.  The pavilion opened with the park on October 1, 1982.The original attraction operated until January 21, 1996 when it was closed to make way for the updated attraction, Ellen’s Energy Adventure which opened officially on September 15, 1996.  When the new version of the attraction opened, it included an audio animatronic of Ellen herself that was seen fighting off a dinosaur with a tree branch.  After November 2014, the audio animatronic stopped working and was removed never to be replaced. 2.  When the attraction opened originally it was announced that the pavilion’s roof was covered in 80,000 photovoltaic cells that partially powered the moving theatre seat ride vehicles in the attraction.  These traveling theatre cars followed guide wire in the floor instead of conventional tracks and each of the six ride vehicles could hold up to 80 people. 3.  The ride had a running time of a whopping 45 minutes from start to finish!  Hosts would often repeatedly remind guests that once they boarded the traveling theatre seats, there was no exiting the attraction until it was completed. 4.  The music for Ellen’s Energy Adventure was composed by Emmy Winner Bruce Broghton who has composed music for other EPCOT attractions such as Spaceship Earth, O’ Canada and Soarin’ Around the World. 5.  Ellen’s Energy Adventure had it’s final day of operation on August 13, 2017.  This is when the audio for this episode was recorded.  Luckily it wasn’t recorded on the final ride of the day because the attraction broke down on it’s final ride and guests had walk out of the ride on foot. Now it’s time to take one last ride on Ellen’s Energy Adventure.  Along for this final journey is my friend John B. deHaas and after we ride we’ll discuss our thoughts on this, now extinct, attraction.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we experience EPCOT’S Ellen’s Energy Adventure. It’s time to put on our diving gear and head back to Future World in EPCOT to experience The Seas With Nemo & Friends.  The Guidemap describe this attraction by saying, “Ride alongside characters from Disney Pixar’s ‘Finding Nemo,’ then surround yourself with thousands of real sea creatures at the Undersea Observation Deck at SeaBase.  There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and FastPass+ is available.  It should be noted that though we will just bee hearing the ride audio in this episode, The Seas with Nemo & Friends is the name of the entire pavilion, including all the aquarium exhibits.   We will touch on this as we explore five fast facts about The Seas with Nemo & Friends! 1. The Pavilion that houses The Seas with Nemo & Friends was originally called The Living Seas and opened on January 15, 1986,  Beginning in December of 2003, the pavilion was slowly re-themed based on the film Finding Nemo.  This changeover was officially completed when the entire pavilion was rededicated on January 24, 2007. 2.  Though it is no longer the case, at the time it was built, the aquarium portion of the pavilion had the largest saltwater tank in the world holding 5.7 million US gallons of water.  Though it is no longer the largest in the world, the tank is so big, the entirety of Spaceship Earth could fit inside of it! 3.  The ride portion of the pavilion, where guests follow along while Marlin and Dory search for Nemo, roughly follows the same track as the pavilion’s previous ride, The Seacabs.  The Seacab track was lengthened by 280 feet for the new Nemo attraction and the Seacabs were replaces by Clammobiles. 4. One of the most impressive ride effects is the finale where it appears as if the characters from Finding Nemo are actually swimming inside the pavilion’s giant aquarium.  This effect is possible thanks to a brand new projection technique that was developed exclusively for this attraction. 5.  The ride ends with the cast singing the song ‘Big Blue World.’  This tune was adapted from the Finding Nemo Musical at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Now it’s time to experience the ride portion of The Seas with Nemo & friends.  Along for the ride is John B. deHaas and after the ride audio we’ll discuss our thoughts on this attraction.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now as we experience The Seas with Nemo & Friends at Epcot in Walt Disney World! Before we buckle up for take off, here are five fast facts about Soarin’ Around The World. 1. Soarin’ Around The World at Disney California Adventure is an updated version of the classic Soarin’ over California attraction.  A new film was introduced at Disney California Adventure on June 17, 2016. 2.  The updated version of the film matches the films at both Shanghai Disneyland and Epcot at Walt Disney World however each movie has a different finale scene where you soar over the respective parks that the attraction is in.  The Disney California Adventure version features a flyover of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland, while while the Shanghai version features a flyover Shanghai and the EPCOT version features a pass by Spaceship Earth. 3.  The new film features a brand new score by Emmy winner Bruce Broughton, but it has elements of the original attraction’s score that had music by Jerry Goldsmith.  The score was recorded by the London Studio Orchestra at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London. 4. Locations visited on the update attraction now feature landmarks such as the Great Wall of China, the Eiffel Tower and The Great Pyramids in Egypt. 5.  The smells on the attraction have been updated as well.  Now the smells of grass in Africa, the ocean of the South Pacific and roses of the Taj Mahal fill your nose as you soar above the various landmarks. Before we embark on our journey around Tomorrowland, here are five fast facts about the Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover: 1. This attraction, originally called the WEDWay PeopleMover, opened on July 1, 1975.  It was based on the PeopleMover at Disneyland Park in California.  In 1994, when tomorrowland was receiving a complete overhaul, the name of the ride was changed to the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover. 2. The Tomorrowland Transit Authority is powered magnetically with linear induction motors making it completely emissions free. 3. The narration for the current version of the  Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMovier is provided by Mike Brassell who also serves as narrator for the Living With The Land attraction at EPCOT. 4.  One of the highlights of any ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemver is passing by the model for Progress City.  The portion of the model seen on the attraction today is just a small part of the original model which served as the preview for Walt Disney’s vision for EPCOT. 5.  While your Peoplemover vehicle travels through Space Mountain, you hear a page for Mr. Tom Morrow to contact a Mr. Johnson.  Tom Morrow was a character in the former tomorrowland attraction Flight to the Moon.  When the same attraction was renamed Flight to Mars, the character of Tom Morrow was renamed Mr. Johnson And now it’s time to ride the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.  Joining us again today is John deHaas and after we ride we’ll discuss our thoughts on this classic Magic Kingdom attraction.  If you have headphones, put them on now as this is a binaural recording of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover. Before we go out and search for Donald Duck with Jose and Panchito, here are five fast facts about this attraction! 1.  The Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros opened on April 6, 2007, replacing the Mexico Pavilion’s original attraction El Rio del Tiempo.  The Gran Fiesta Tour keeps the same layout as the original ride but adds animated film sequences starring The Three Caballeros. 2.   The addition of The Three Caballeros to the ride marked the first time that Disney made the, somewhat controversial decision, to add pre-existing characters into attractions in the World Showcase at EPCOT.  A decision that has continued with Frozen Ever After in the Norway pavilion. 3. The voices of the Three Caballeros are performed by Tony Anselmo as Donald, Rob Paulson as José and Carlos Alazraqui as Panchito. 4.  The center section of the attraction, known as the Festival of Children, features animatronics of singing and dancing children very reminiscent of It’s A Small World.  This portion of the Gran Fiesta Tour is pretty much the same as it was back when the ride was known as El Rio del Tiempo. 5. On December 15, 2015, animatronics of the Three Caballeros were installed in the show’s finale.  The animatronics were reused from the Magic Kingdom attraction the Mickey Mouse Revue which was closed to make way for Mickey’s PhilharMagic in Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland. After the Silly Symphony Swings, we’re going to head over to the Jumping’ Jellyfish attraction.  Also located in Paradise Pier, this ride is described in the guide map in this way:  Drop down through a colorful forest of kelp.  The thrill level warns that this attraction features Small Drops and it also has the 40” or taller height requirement on it. Before our feet leave the ground for these two attractions, here are five fast facts about the Silly Symphony Swings and Jumping Jellyfish. 1.  Jumping’ Jellyfish is a California Adventure opening day attraction, beginning operation on February 8, 2001.  Silly Symphony Swings officially opened on June 11, 2010, but it replaced a similar attraction called the Orange Stinger which was basically the same ride but enclosed in a giant orange. 2.   Silly Symphony Sings is themes to the 1935 cartoon, The Band Concert where Mickey conducts an orchestra during the middle of tornado.  When the ride opened in 2010, it coincided with the 75th anniversary of the cartoon! 3.  The mild Jumping’ Jellyfish attraction at California Adventure has a sister attraction, also named Jumping’ Jellyfish, at Tokyo DisneySea in Japan.  The version at Tokyo DisneySea opened a few month after it’s California counterpart on September 4, 2001. 4.  The two music pieces heard during your ride on Silly Symphony Swings are both by William Tell.  The soundtrack includes his famous Overture and his classic piece entitled The Storm 5. Though they do so in much different ways, both attractions lift riders 40 feet off the ground and both have a ride time of generally about a minute and thirty seconds. This episode we are taking a ride on Snow White’s Scary Adventures at Disneyland.  This dark ride is described in the guide map as follows:  Hop inside a mine cart and follow the path of Snow White as she flees into the dark forest to avoid the wrath of the evil Queen. There is no height requirement for this attraction and the Thrill Level describes the ride as being Loud, Dark, Scary and a slow ride. Before we head into the forest to find snow white, here are five fast facts about Snow White’s Scary Adventures 1.  Snow White’s Scary adventures is an opening day attraction that began operation on July 17, 1955.  Back then though, the ride was called Snow White’s Adventures.  The ride got its new name in 1983. 2.  Snow white didn’t actually appear in the ride until 1983 as well!  When the ride opened in 1995, the imagineers had designed the ride to make it feel as if the guests themselves were Snow White going through the forest and avoiding the evil queen.  Many guests questioned where Snow White was, so in 1983, the ride was changed to include snow white, though she only appears in the attraction once. 3.  One of the signature effects of the attraction is the transformation of the evil queen into the old hag.  This effect is achieved by haven two figures separated by a sheet of glass that is standing in for an actual mirror. 4.  The ride vehicles for the attraction are each randomly named after one of the seven dwarves. 5.  For years after the ride opened, guests were swiping one of the apples that the witch would hold out as they passed by.  When the ride was revamped in 1983, an effect was created to make it seem as if the apple was there but if guests reach out for it, their hands go right through! Now, let’s visit Snow White and the Seven Dwarves on Snow White’s Scary Adventures.  On the ride with me today is John B. deHaas and after we ride we’ll discuss our thoughts on this classic Disneyland attraction.  If you have headphones, put them on now as we experience this binaural ride through of Snow White’s Scary Adventures. Today we are going to visit the open house at the Imagination Institute as we ride Journey Into Imagination with Figment located in EPCOT’s future Word west at Walt Disney World in Florida.  The guide map describes this attraction by saying ‘Follow Figment in this whimsical open house tour of the Imagination Institute’.  This is a Dark, slow ride according to the the Thrill Level and it is open to guests of all ages and heights.  Fastness plus is offered. Before we meet up with Dr. Nigel Channing, here are five fast facts about Journey Into Imagination with Figment. 1. Journey into imagination with Figment opened on June 2, 2002.  This attraction is the third version of the attraction housed in Imagination Pavilion at EPCOT.  The original Journey Into Imagination opened on March 5, 1983.  It closed on October 10, 1998 for renovation and reopened on October 1, 1999 as Journey into Your Imagination which only lasted two years before it was closed on October 8, 2001 to make way for the latest incarnation. 2. For the ride, Eric Idle reprises his role of Dr. Nigel Channing from the Honey, I Shrunk The Kids Franchise.  The original voice of Figment, Billy Barty passed away in 2000 so Dave Goelz was hired to portray the new Figment.  If Dave Goelz’s name isn’t familiar, you certainly know of one of his other alter egos, Gonzo from The Muppets. 3. Journey Into Imagination with Figment marked the return of the Sherman Brother’s song One Little Spark.  This song featured prominently in the original Journey into imagination attraction but was removed for Journey into Your imagination which drew a lot of criticism from fans. 4. There are several references to other Disney movies in this attraction including The Absent Minded Professor, The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes and Honey I Shrunk The Kids. 5. The ride also features some tributes to the classic Journey Into Imagination attraction.  Many animatronics and figures of Figment feature prominently in the ride and the reapperaing/dissapearing butterfly from the original can be seen as well.  There’s also a brief tribute to The Dreamfinder, the ride’s original host. Now, lets visit the Imagination institute and take a ride on Journey Into Imagination With Figment.  John B. deHaas is along for the ride today and after the ride audio, we’ll discuss our thoughts on this attraction.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now as we set our imaginations free on EPCOT’S Journey Into Imagination with Figment.
