This week, climate negotiators and world leaders from around 200 countries are descending on the Egyptian resort town of Sharm el Sheikh for COP27—the twenty-seventh gathering of the 197 nations that signed up to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change back in 1992. As proceedings get underway, a huge question mark hangs over this year's climate summit. Rich nations are pushing for poor countries to announce greater cuts to carbon emissions, but developing countries claim that their developed counterparts have stiffed them when it comes to climate finance. To make sense of this dynamic at this year's gathering and to explore the unique role India plays, journalist Bill Spindle joins Milan on the show this week.Bill is the climate and energy editor at the new journalism start-up, Semafor. He's also a ten-year veteran of the Wall Street Journal, where he served as South Asia Bureau Chief from 2016 to 2020. Bill has spent the last year crisscrossing the length and breadth of India reporting on the transformation of India's energy sector—a journey he documented on Substack.Bill and Milan discuss the developed vs. developing country deadlock that imperils the COP27 proceedings, India's opportunity to play a leadership role, and the continuing uncertainty over U.S.-China relations. Plus, the two discuss Bill's year-long adventure traveling 8,000 kilometers across India by train. Semafor “Climate” newsletter by Bill Spindle. Bill Spindle, “Energy: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly,” The Energy Adventure(r) newsletter, June 14, 2022.Bill Spindle, “The Free Power Flywheel,” The Energy Adventure(r) newsletter, August 29, 2022.Bill Spindle, “Global climate conference threatens to be a bust,” Semafor, October 22, 2022.“How India Can Get to Net Zero Emissions (with Jayant Sinha),” Grand Tamasha, October 13, 2021.“What COP26 Means for India—and the World (with Navroz Dubash),” Grand Tamasha, November 17, 2021.

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - It's time to rewind time as we ride Epcot's newest attraction Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, not once but twice on this episode of Attraction Checklist. Attraction audio recorded on July 13, 2022. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. We are super excited because we are finally bringing you one of the most requested Attraction Checklist episode of the year, a look at Epcot's new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. The guide map describes this attraction saying, “Team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy on an intergalactic race through space and time.” Guests must be 42” or wallet to ride and the thrill level describes the attraction as being a Thrill Ride in the Dark. Before we head off to the Galaxarium, here are five fast facts about Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. 1. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind officially opened at Epcot on May 27, 2022. 2. The attraction is build on the site of the former Ellen's Energy Adventure attraction which we covered on Episode 31 of this show.  That ride was built in the former Universe of Energy show building and that show building was reused and retrofitted for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind thought the bulk of the attraction is housed in a giant blue show building behind the Universe of Energy building. 3.  Much like Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout at Disney California Adventure which we covered in episode 32 of Attraction Checklist, guests riding Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, guests hear one of six different songs.  The possible songs are "September" by Earth, Wind and Fire, “Disco Inferno" by the Trammps, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World" by Tears for Fears”, One Way or Another" by Blondie, “I Ran (So Far Away)" by A Flock of Seagulls and “Conga" by Gloria Estefan 4. Composer Tyler Bates, who scored the Guardians of the Galaxy films created more than two hours on new music for the attraction and he even put in a little nod to the original Universe of Energy song. 5. On June 23, 2022, it was announced that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind would receive a Christmas Overlay with a mash-up of seasonal songs. Let's go save the planet with the Guardians of the Galaxy.  Joining me today is John B. deHaas and, as mentioned at the top of the show, we're going to go for two rides and we'll review them both so stay tuned for that.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT The attraction audio recorded for this episode is available exclusively to the Saturday Morning Media Patron Patron.  Support the show and get fun Bonus content over at http://www.patreon.com/saturdaymorningmedia Episode edited by Stephen Staver FOLLOW US https://www.instagram.com/attractionchecklist/ http://www.twitter.com/SaturdayMMedia  https://www.linkedin.com/company/saturday-morning-media http://www.youtube.com/user/SaturdayMorningMedia?sub_confirmation=1 FOLLOW GRANT http://www.MrGrant.comhttp://www.twitter.com/toasterboy  https://instagram.com/throwingtoasters/ SOURCES: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/attractions/epcot/guardians-of-the-galaxy-cosmic-rewind/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guardians_of_the_Galaxy:_Cosmic_Rewind Show ©2022 Saturday Morning Media/Grant Baciocco

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opened at EPCOT in Walt Disney World on May 27, 2022. Replacing the Universe of Energy pavilion (Ellen's Energy Adventure), this attraction became the first roller coaster at EPCOT, the first backwards launching coaster for the Disney Parks, the first E-ticket Marvel attraction at Walt Disney World, and one of the longest indoor roller coasters in the world. Featuring six unique soundtracks (Disco Inferno, September, Conga, Everybody Wants to Rule the World, One Way or Another, and I Ran (So Far Away)), this attraction is the first of its kind (an omnicoaster), taking EPCOT travelers to the Wonders of Xandar Pavilion. In this podcast episode, I chat with Senior Producer of Walt Disney Imagineering, Wyatt Winter, who assumed the same role for Cosmic Rewind. Wyatt and I discuss his role on the attraction, the ride's storyline, the Wonders of Xandar pavilion, the innovative ride system, Easter eggs, and more. Matthew Jordan Leeds always loved the music of Epcot. From an early age he found himself listening to the work of Bruce Broughton as it echoed through the cathedral like space of Ellen’s Energy Adventure and, from that point on, composing was something he wanted to do. Who would have thought years later he would have the chance to rearrange some of Broughton’s theme park music for a brand new Epcot fireworks spectacular - Epcot Forever. Matthew was kind enough to chat with Nathan about what the process it takes to compose a theme park show, his unique way into working for Disney, and the challenges of ushering in a new era of Epcot. Ride This One is back bitches! After a long holiday season where Slater decided he was going to participate in the Wall-E Lifestyle we are back.   The theme park community is in shock when they found out Kings Dominion's 20 year old Volcano the blast coaster was getting put to an early grave.  What's going in its place? No idea, but slater thinks it's a 500' coaster that goes down into a ravine and has a splashdown effect.    Slater looks like a genius when he shows off his knowledge of Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s 315’ star flyer. Along with more I told you so’s where he talks about Busch Gardens Tampa’s Gwazi being currently under construction.  Is it possible that Gwazi will be taller than Cedar Point’s Steel Vengeance?  The first beyond vertical drop on a RMC Hybrid Coaster?  It’s quite possible we shall see. We also discuss how Disney’s new Star Wars Rise of the Resistance might be able to take the place of Ellen’s Energy Adventure for a place to take a nap, since the ride will be 40 minutes long, 40 minutes to get busy in a galaxy long long ago and far far away.   We learn that Six Flags Magic Mountain’s West Coast Racer is delayed to a bunch of bitchy home owners who are worried about noise.  Why would you build a house next to a theme park when you are worried about it being too noisy?    Silver Dollar City is rumored to have a new plan in place to fully remove fire in the hole, and possibly being moved to firefighter’s landing. These are just a few things that you will here on this week’s episode of Ride This One Podcast.   _________________________ Website - www.RideThisOne.com Call or Text the show! 26-RIDE-THIS (267) 433-8447 Follow The Show! Facebook - Twitter - Subscribe Bitch! This episode we are going to say goodbye to a recently extinct attraction, Ellen’s Energy Adventure at the Universe of Energy Pavilion at EPCOT at Walt Disney World.  EPCOT’s guide map described the attraction in the following way: Take a multimedia romp through time and Ellen DeGeneres’ subconscious at Universe of Energy. There were no age or height requirements for this attraction. Before we take one last ride, let’s zap through five fast facts about  on Ellen’s Energy Adventure. 1.  Ellen’s Energy Adventure was located in the Universe of Energy Pavilion in EPCOT’S Future World East.  The pavilion opened with the park on October 1, 1982.The original attraction operated until January 21, 1996 when it was closed to make way for the updated attraction, Ellen’s Energy Adventure which opened officially on September 15, 1996.  When the new version of the attraction opened, it included an audio animatronic of Ellen herself that was seen fighting off a dinosaur with a tree branch.  After November 2014, the audio animatronic stopped working and was removed never to be replaced. 2.  When the attraction opened originally it was announced that the pavilion’s roof was covered in 80,000 photovoltaic cells that partially powered the moving theatre seat ride vehicles in the attraction.  These traveling theatre cars followed guide wire in the floor instead of conventional tracks and each of the six ride vehicles could hold up to 80 people. 3.  The ride had a running time of a whopping 45 minutes from start to finish!  Hosts would often repeatedly remind guests that once they boarded the traveling theatre seats, there was no exiting the attraction until it was completed. 4.  The music for Ellen’s Energy Adventure was composed by Emmy Winner Bruce Broghton who has composed music for other EPCOT attractions such as Spaceship Earth, O’ Canada and Soarin’ Around the World. 5.  Ellen’s Energy Adventure had it’s final day of operation on August 13, 2017.  This is when the audio for this episode was recorded.  Luckily it wasn’t recorded on the final ride of the day because the attraction broke down on it’s final ride and guests had walk out of the ride on foot. Now it’s time to take one last ride on Ellen’s Energy Adventure.  Along for this final journey is my friend John B. deHaas and after we ride we’ll discuss our thoughts on this, now extinct, attraction.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we experience EPCOT’S Ellen’s Energy Adventure. Interview with Disney Composer Bruce Broughton and Trivia Contest Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #267 for the week of March 25, 2012. I'm pleased to share an interview this week with someone whose incredible talents in storytelling are not with pictures or words, but through his music. Bruce Broughton has received 20 Emmy and numerous Grammy awards as well as an Academy Award nomination for his television and motion picture work, and he also composed and conducted scores for Disney animated films such as The Rescuers Down Under and Bambi II. His incredible music can also be found throughout the Disney parks in themes for attractions such as Ellen's Energy Adventure, The Timekeeper, Honey I Shrunk the Audience and most recently, Spaceship Earth. He will share stories about working on the films and in the theme parks, including the processes, inspiration, differences and experiences, which may just make you appreciate these incredible works of art even more. I'll have the answer and winner for last week's Walt Disney World Trivia Question of the Week, and pose a new one for your chance to win a Disney prize package. I'll have a few announcements and then play more of your voicemails at the end of the show. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. ------------------------------------- THANK YOU for your support by voting WDW Radio Best Travel Podcast for 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011! ------------------------------------- Visit WDWRadio.com and talk about the show by posting in the WDW Radio message forums Walt Disney World Trivia on your iPhone! 770+ questions and more!: http://bit.ly/wdwtip Twitter: http://Twitter.com/LouMongello Facebook: http://Facebook.com/WDWRadio Google+: http://LouMongello.com/gplus Subscribe to Celebrations! The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station

Hello and welcome back to The WDW Radio Show - Your WDW information Station. This is Show #4 for the week of March 4, 2007. I talk about some news and a restaurant closing rumor, and with the help of some special guests this week, I answer some listener email with Jeff Pepper where we talk about celebrities at the Studios, responses to the possibly of Disney expanding beyond its theme parks in Orlando and Anaheim, and a hidden celebrity cameo at Ellen’s Energy Adventure. Mike Scopa joins Lou in discussing the Walt Disney World Marathon experience, and Jonathan Dichter treats us all to another installment of his Voices Behind the Magic. Thanks to David and Kathy Recchione for the new WDW Radio Show Theme Song, which I introduce this week as well. Thanks for tuning in! Meandering Mouse and Meandering Mouse Club TV-(AUDIO and VIDEO) Disney Park Fun

*Headphones Suggested for this Episode* Join your host, Jeff from Houston, as he wanders around Toontown in Disneyland exploring all the whacky distractions and sounds in the area. Afterwards, get your bags packed for a cross country trip to Florida where I visit EPCOT Center's Universe of Energy / Ellen's Energy Adventure. This underappreciated pavilion at EPCOT is top notch in my book and needs no commentary. Therefore, I keep my big mouth shut during this great ride thru. Hear Ellen and Bill Nye the Science Guy as they travel through time experiencing The Big Bang and a bunch of Dinosaurs. Last, our new weekly feature, which highlights those special details found in the Disney parks, is presented. Send in your favorite special Disney park details and comments about the show.
