Rock Solid Families • 00:35•The “Rock Solid Families” podcast episode features Bridgitte Price, an adolescent specialist and coach, and Jenna Helton, the marketing and administrative assistant.•The episode focuses on the theme of “Decluttering Your Heart and Home,” exploring the relationship between emotional and physical clutter.•Bridgitte emphasizes gratitude towards the podcast sponsors: Maxwell Construction, Casey's Outdoor Solutions, and the Hooer Ice House. The Connection Between Heart and Home•Bridgitte and Jenna discuss the correlation between emotional well-being and physical environment.•They share personal experiences of feeling overwhelmed by clutter, particularly when lacking boundaries and prioritizing tasks.Key Concepts1.Physical and Emotional Clutter:•Clutter reflects personal values, fears, and reluctance to release items.•Decluttering can lead to peace and clarity, allowing individuals to feel God's guidance.2.Reasons for Holding On:•Misplaced Priorities: The tendency to chase material possessions or status, such as keeping sentimental items from past generations (e.g., beanie babies, Precious Moments).•Busyness as a Badge: The societal expectation to be busy can interfere with meaningful time spent in prayer and self-reflection.•Emotional Clutter: Grudges, regrets, and unrealistic expectations can weigh heavily, blocking peace.•Fear Factors: Fear of lack (holding onto items “just in case”), fear of change, and fear of losing identity can prevent decluttering.3.Spiritual Reflection:•The phrase “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be” (Matthew 6:19-21) highlights the importance of introspection regarding what one values and prioritizes.Practical Steps to Declutter1.Physical Clutter:•Implement the “Three Pile Rule”: separate items into keep, donate, and trash piles.•Be prepared for a messy process before achieving a clean and organized space.•Consider the time it takes to clean: if it takes over 10-15 minutes to tidy up, it may indicate excessive clutter.2.Emotional Clutter:•Identify and confront emotional baggage, such as fears or past regrets.•Engage in prayer, journaling, and fasting from distractions to focus on spiritual growth.3.Seek Contentment:•Focus on appreciating what one already possesses rather than seeking more.•Encourage listeners to be thoughtful stewards of their resources.Advice and Encouragement•Prayer and Surrender: Ask God for help in releasing burdens that do not serve one's spiritual journey.•Allocate Time for God: By reducing clutter, individuals can create more time for prayer, journaling, and being present with God.•Take Action: Encourage listeners to take small steps toward decluttering, starting with one room or area at a time.https://rocksolidfamilies.orgSupport the show#Rocksolidfamilies, #familytherapy, #marriagecounseling, #parenting, #faithbasedcounseling, #counseling, #Strongdads, #coaching, #lifecoach, #lifecoaching, #marriagecoaching, #marriageandfamily, #control, #security, #respect, #affection, #love, #purpose, #faith, #affairs, #infidelity

Ep 504 - Vancouver: Beautiful, yes – but! Guest: Bridgitte Anderson By Stuart McNish No doubt about it: Vancouver is beautiful. It's beautiful to visit, it's a beautiful place to study, and it's a beautiful city to retire in. “But,” says Bridgitte Anderson, the CEO of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, “it's not so beautiful of a place to build a robust economy.” In fact, according to a new report commissioned by GVBOT, “the region's economic size and mix under-performs when it comes to creating high-paid jobs or high-performing companies.” Compared to 20 other “high quality mid-sized city-regions, spanning 9 pillars across economy, liveability and infrastructure and sustainability, Vancouver is well below par.” Anderson says. “Vancouver ranked 14 among the 20 cities for prosperity factors.” Looking ahead, Anderson says, “The region has to address its underlying weaknesses soon if we hope to stay competitive.” Central to our ability to compete is Vancouver's beautiful geography, an area that is confined by sea and mountains. Anderson says, “The upshot is that we have to innovate more deeply to stimulate housing, job and economic development.” We invited Bridgitte Anderson, the CEO of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, to join us as a guest on Conversations That Matter about where our attention needs to turn to close our productivity and prosperity gap. Lyn is joined by relationship therapist and coach, Bridgitte Green, to talk about effective communication in relationships. They delve into the importance of communication in maintaining healthy and fulfilling relationships. Bridget emphasises the significance of 'listening', being specific about needs, and showing respect for each other in our conversations. KEY TAKEAWAYS Effective communication in relationships is crucial for understanding and avoiding misunderstandings. Specificity in communication about needs and wants is essential to ensure clarity and to avoid assumptions. Taking time to actively listen, repeat back, and avoid interruptions can improve understanding & communication in relationships. Resentments can build up when communication is lacking, so it's important to address and discuss issues openly. Showing respect, listening attentively, and being mindful of body language can enhance communication and strengthen relationships. BEST MOMENTS "Aways listen and speak with respect to your partner. If we speak with respect, then we can prevent those conversations that blow up." "Your relationship is a living, breathing entity. You wouldn't leave anything that's living and breathing. So don't leave your relationship to starve." "I think quite often we're sometimes so keen to prove our point that we're not actually listening to them." "True love starts with opening our hearts." In this episode of Out of the Clouds, host Anne Muhlethaler speaks to her friend, the beauty entrepreneur Bridgitte Dempsey Klein, founder of French natural skincare brand Yanne Wellness. In their conversation, Anne gets to ask Bridgitte to tell her about her journey from Toronto to London, where the two met thanks to their mutual friend Stephanie. Bridgitte shares about her love of travel, how important her French mother's influence was on her, and how she moved from studying at the London School of Economics with diplomatic pursuits in mind before making a switch to work in retail, later landing in beauty PR and communication. In a super pivot, Bridgitte shares how she left her role at Lancôme to set up Corbin, a bespoke fur business in Paris. The two explore Bridgitte's experience in brand building, and creating unique pieces in the French capital, with all its savoir-faire and artisans, and how this has in turn informed her approach to Yanne Wellness. While she was establishing Corbin, Bridgitte also worked for her Canadian family's business, The Dempsey Corporation. The Franco-Canadian entrepreneur shares how she also drew inspiration from her grandmother for Corbin Paris, and later her mother, Yanne, whose influence can be felt at all levels of the new venture Yanne Wellness. Bridgitte also shares the stories of the several key moments that culminated in the pitch for this natural brand that combines innovative skincare and food supplement systems in what she calls a new kind of wellness.Anne and Bridgitte also talk about authentic ingredients, the French spa culture, 'neo-thalassos', the future of beauty and how Bridgitte wants to bottle up the goodness of the sea to bring vitality and glowing skin to Yanne's clientele.
