The More Than What You Eat podcast hosted by Rachel Goodman is an amazing and informational resource for anyone looking to improve their relationship with food and their body. Rachel's knowledge and expertise in intuitive eating shines through as she breaks down the understanding of how it can help break food restriction practices and empower individuals to become their best selves. In addition, her online course has been life-changing for many.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is the positive affirmations and educational information it provides. The episodes cover a wide range of topics including Health At Every Size (HAES), intuitive eating, body acceptance, body respect, and more. The combination of uplifting messages and informative content creates a safe space for personal growth and inspires listeners to change the way they talk about themselves and others around them.

Rachel's passion for helping others comes through in every episode, making it easy to listen to her podcast. Her desire to spread body positivity and provide real nutrition advice is evident in her words. She truly wants to make a difference in the lives of her audience, and this genuine care can be felt throughout each episode.

However, one potential downside of this podcast is that there may be limited variety in terms of guests or perspectives. While Rachel herself is a fantastic dietitian who explains concepts clearly and compassionately, hearing from other experts or individuals with different experiences could add depth to the discussions.

In conclusion, The More Than What You Eat podcast is an exceptional resource for those seeking guidance on intuitive eating, body positivity, and breaking free from societal expectations. Rachel's expertise, compassion, and dedication shine through in each episode, creating a space where listeners can grow personally while also challenging common thoughts within the medical field. Weight gain has been demonized by diet culture, that much is clear.  Which makes it hard to heal your body image, especially if you've regained weight as you have been healing your relationship with food.  Given body diversity is normal and we are not all meant to be thin, this can be normal and a part of the healing process.  But what happens when you keep gaining and gaining weight? How do you know when it is part of healing or part of an issue?  And more importantly, if it is a result of an unhealthy reason, what is the solution? [hint: its still not dieting!] I recently wrote a post on instagram addressing this topic and while many appreciated the nuance I shared, others were upset by it.  Which is why I'm answering the questions of: Is my weight gain healthy or unhealthy? In today's podcast episode. Because these conversations should not be shoved under the rug. I don't believe in denial but rather having understanding and awareness through the lens of self compassion to know how to take care of yourself and when to reach out for support    In this episode, we cover:    Why we shouldn't ignore weight entirely  Signs of healthy and unhealthy weight loss Why you can't assume you know someone's health status based on how they look Signs of healthy and unhealthy weight gain Why it's okay to question weight gain and why its not fatphobic to do so Responses to instagram comments who were triggered by this topic and why it's important to not avoid these conversations   If you're desiring personalized and nuanced support to end the food chaos and body shame effectively so you can confidently nourish yourself without rules, my IntuEATive Living Group Coaching program is now open for presale enrollment [aka save $300!] until May 6th. Do you worry that if you have any thoughts of desiring weight loss you will not be able to heal your body image?    Or worse, you might be undoing the progress you've already made?    This was the fear my client, Amy, shared with me in a recent session.    She was making great progress in stopping to binge eat and removing food guilt from her food choices. She was learning to accept that her body at her thinnest was not the healthy weight for her because she needed to keep restricting and obsess about food to maintain it and that was not how she wanted to live the rest of her life.    Yet, this past week, she kept having nagging thoughts of wishing she was back to that thinner body. She feared it meant she was going backward in her healing journey and it was creating a lot of stress that she was doing body image healing ‘wrong'.   In our session, I helped Amy not only overcome this fear, but also set realistic expectations and learn how to navigate bad body image thoughts and days in ways that will help her deepen her healing instead of going backward.    She left feeling relieved, hopeful, and empowered to continue making progress in her body image healing journey.    The positive impact our conversation had on Amy inspired this podcast episode where I share with you the insights, mindset shifts, and tools that I gave Amy to feel empowered to heal her body image and better in her own skin (even when weight loss thoughts came up!!).    In this episode we cover:    The fear Rachel's client, Amy, had about regressing in her body image healing & how Rachel helped her overcome this fear How to set realistic expectations for your body image healing journey (Rachel does a quick exercise to bring you back to reality on how long the healing journey may take for you) The reason body image healing runs so deep & can take time to fully heal How to use your negative body image thoughts as fuel for healing Can you heal your body image if you still desire weight loss?  How to reframe your thoughts to be more positive in a realistic and BELIEVABLE way (a step by step approach) Rachel's Resources: Follow Rachel on Instagram (please hyperlink it to https://www.instagram.com/dietitian.rachelgoodman/    Stop feeling out of control with food using the FREE eguide: 3 Steps to Stop Feeling Out of Control with Food (hyperlink to https://rachelgoodmanrd.kartra.com/page/7NG39  )    Are you a Food Freedom Professional seeking to boost her counseling skills & coach clients with confidence using the Intuitive Eating approach? When we work on that core issue, her "emotional eating" isn't a struggle anymore. Because we got to the ROOT of the matter.   Today, I'm sharing with you the insights, tools, and support I give my emotional eating clients…so that you, too, can stop feeling out of control with food in reactive ways that don't serve you.    There is, of course, a time and place to embrace eating emotionally. It is a natural part of life that should be enjoyed, not demonized.    However, if it isn't feeling good to you or serving you, it is important to learn how to cope with your emotions in a healthy way.   More importantly though, you need to first know what type of emotional eating you are dealing with (and it may possibly not even be emotional eating but part of a bigger issue you need to identify) to effectively stop feeling out of control with food in this way!    I'm dropping all the light bulb moments for you in this week's episode where we cover::    Identifying if you are actually an emotional eater (surprise! As New Year's inches closer it seems that everyone and their mother is focused on changing their eating habits and their bodies after the holidays “damage”.    The New Year presents the opportunity for people to jump on the diet bandwagon with the belief that they are changing their life for the better but in reality, it's just another way diet culture tempts us into feeling inadequate.    In this solo episode, I am talking about why it's time you reevaluate your New Year's goals and why the real message of New Year's “body goals” is that your thinnest self is the best version of yourself when that isn't true!! I also explain why focusing on weight loss can pull you further away from living your best life and what to focus on instead that will allow you to be the best, happiest and healthiest version of yourself.     In this episode, we cover: [2:33] The real message of New Year's body goals and how it actually erodes your self-esteem and self-worth. [6:06] Your thinnest self is not your best self. Learn how to show up for yourself in ways that will actually serve you, your life, and your health [12:06] Validation of leading your best life is not dependent on body size. New Year's is just another day - you always have a clean slate every day of every year. [17:49] Choosing a different approach going into the New Year when it comes to living as your best self.    Links Mentioned:    Follow Rachel on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/dietitian.rachelgoodman/    Ready to break free of food rules and find food freedom + body peace? She explains why she felt the need to diet, how the belief of “thin = health” was reinforced and led her down the rabbit whole of disordered eating and finally ‘hitting a wall' when she no longer could continue to starve her body and started to feel out of control with food - and how intuitive eating was finally the answer she was looking for to heal her relationship with food, change her eating habits, and improve her health.     In this episode, we cover: [1:56] Laura shares more about her journey and how she entered the dieting world  [7:01] The turning point of why weight loss was not important [14:03] Intuitive eating as the answer  [20:39] Laura shares when she realized intuitive eating started to work and resonate with her and how she learned to drop her “food rules”  [32:38] The most challenging part about intuitive eating and how to overcome it [42:21] Dealing with doctors, health check ups and actually eating what you want    Links Mentioned: Follow Rachel on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/dietitian.rachelgoodman/    Ready to break free of food rules and find food freedom + body peace? I know that this time of year can be so triggering to so many people with how they feel about their bodies. When it comes to the holiday season, the foods, the people, the advertisements, and the diet culture marketing can be overwhelming and make you feel bad about yourself (and it's totally understandable).     If this is you and you're feeling kind of mediocre in your body, this is the episode for you. In today's episode, I discuss the difference between feeling bad in your body and about your body because that is so key to really helping address the core struggle that is happening here during this time of the year. When we get to the core of this feeling, we learn to not use a scapegoating method of coping and actually practice solutions that don't self-sabotage our own mental and physical well-being.    In this episode, we cover: [2:39] What does feeling bad IN your body versus feeling bad ABOUT your body look like? [6:19] What changes you can implement in your life to get to the core of why you're feeling bad in your body [12:06] Hormones and other external factors can impact how we feel about our body size and what you can actually do about it [17:22] When you feel bad about your body size, rather than tear apart your body image, I share what you should focus on instead [24:05] The importance of separating how you feel about your body and how you feel in your body to the actual external circumstances that triggered it Links Mentioned:   My IG https://www.instagram.com/dietitian.rachelgoodman/    Apply for 1:1 : bit.ly/coachingwithrachel    Free opt in https://rachelgoodmanrd.kartra.com/page/7NG39    Podcast episode with Dr Jordan: https://rachelgoodnutrition.com/ep-67-what-every-women-should-know-about-peri-menopause-and-menopause-with-dr-jordan-robertson-nd/

Intuitive eating may be self-explanatory to some but how can you tell the difference between intuitive eating and impulsive eating?   When it comes to intuitive eating, there needs to be a connection between pausing and understanding what it means to eat in line with what your body wants, and then consider when it feels chaotic and out of touch with what your body actually needs.     In today's episode, I discuss how to recognize the signs between intuitive eating and when eating becomes impulsive and chaotic. I share tools you can implement today to stop impulsive eating and begin thinking from an intuitive eating lens.   In this episode, we cover: [3:56] The differences between intuitive eating and compulsive eating [6:12] Ways to work through impulsive eating so that you can work your way to being an intuitive eater [10:18] Learning to build up your impulse control skills and training your brain to pause and think before taking action [15:58] How these skills can apply to using eating as an emotional coping mechanism [20:27] Why intuitive eating is possible for anyone and the role awareness plays in understanding why impulsive eating may be occurring   Rachel's Resources:   My IG https://www.instagram.com/dietitian.rachelgoodman/    Apply for 1:1 bit.ly/coachingwithrachel     Free opt in https://rachelgoodmanrd.kartra.com/page/7NG39
