Host Mike Palmer rounds out our coverage of the ASU+GSV Summit with two shorter conversations recorded in San Diego with Diana Hughes and Sunil Gunderia from Age of Learning, the company behind educational products like ABCmouse and the classroom offerings MyMathAcademy and MyReadingAcademy. First we learn about Diana's background designing empathetic video games and how that translates to creating engaging educational experiences. She provides insights into blending AI with human instruction, viewing AI as an augmentation tool rather than a replacement for teachers. We're talking cyborgs, not robots. Then we join Mike's hallway chat with Sunil Gunderia, Age of Learning's Chief Innovation Officer. Sunil reflects on trends from the AIR summit preceding ASU+GSV, like major school districts embracing AI to advance equitable learning. He shares how Age of Learning partners with companies like OpenAI to enhance content creation while centering efficacy. The episode examines AI's potential to personalize learning at scale and collect data to drive instruction. Both guests emphasize marrying technology with behavioral science principles to build learner identity alongside academic skills. As this transformative time unfolds, we're urged to collaborate in ensuring AI helps all students flourish. Subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Visit us at TrendinginEd.com for more.

Age of Learning | Sunil Gunderia, Chief Innovation Officer and Head of Mastery and Adaptive Product If you have children, how are they being schooled right now? Are they back in the classroom? Fully remote? A mixture? Today my guest is Sunil Gunderia. He's the Chief Innovation Officer, and Head of Mastery & Adaptive Product, for Age of Learning. Age of Learning blends education best practices, innovative technology, and insightful creativity to bring learning to life for children across the U.S. and around the world. It is best known for its ABCmouse.com Early Learning Academy, made for children 2–8. Today Sunil I talk about why education is important to him, but also the critical juncture the world of education currently finds itself in. After all, a lack of quality education has been shown again and again to have significant downward pressure on opportunities in life (and health and wealth as a result), and this disproportionately affects the socioeconomically disadvantaged as well as minorities. We talk about what COVID has done to learning, and how Age of Learning is doing its part to step in -- including an important discussion around sacrificing an enticing bottom line in exchange for doing what the brand felt was right. (In my opinion it's the epitome of authenticity -- so stay tuned for that. Plus, how 2021's vaccine hopes imply a return to traditional educational avenues, and how Age of Learning intends to remain part of the mix. So sit back and enjoy this episode Authentic Avenue as I get real with Age of Learning and Sunil Gunderia. To have the most successful Homeschooling experience, you will have to schedule your day to some extent. Homeschooling should NOT take up your whole day. If you create a schedule you will be amazed at how much you can get done in the day , plus everyone will know what to expect. I would advise that besides scheduling in schooling time, that you schedule in specific times in your child's schedule for things such as snack-time, PE, TV time etc... After the teaching period is finished, it is important that Kids be provided with constructive, wholesome choices to choose from to occupy their time so that they are not left watching hours of mindless TV and media outside of the scheduled school time. Great resources that are both educational and entertaining are: ABCYA.com Starfall.com ABCmouse.com (some local libraries provide free subscription to this site) Makemegenius.com Popular Mechanics for Kids (video series found at the local library) Bill Naye the Science Guy (video series found at the local library) Generation Genius Please feel free to email any specific questions that you would like me to address at homeschools101@gmail.com (dont' forget the "s" in homeschools :-) Remember that if you are a parent, you are a born teacher - You've Got This! Together we will ensure that you have the most successful homeschooling experience. Until Next time! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/homeschool101/message

School is letting out soon, summer plans are being made, and graduation is in full swing. Speaking of which, I am the proud dad of a high school graduate myself this year! My darling daughter Olivia graduated with honors, and her mom and I are so proud. Of course, I could regale you with stories of all her accomplishments but she'd probably deny she knows me for the next week to 10 days, so I'll just go with graduation and learning as a theme today instead. We'll talk about: 11 questions and ideas on How to honor your homeschool graduate. You may not know this about me, but I did a little bit of homeschooling with my kids for a while years ago, and our Director of Customer Service, Rachel, homeschools her son. We always want to give a nod to all the homeschoolers out there, and let them know that they are not forgotten this time of year. Then I'll have ways to avoid “Summer Slide” - that is the very real knowledge-loss that kids experience over the summer. I'll give you some ideas and the reasons why you should be planning some things to keep your kids sharp over the summer. Along with that, I'll have some thoughts and a special offer for the exceptional educational website, ABCMouse.com - which we highly recommend for helping prevent summer slide for younger students.
A Medium article suggests we stop trying to make everything perfect for our kids. Can it be there was a Saturday Night Live parody Apple ad that Moltz hasn't seen?
