How do you market your beers? How do you ensure that the people you think will enjoy them most are aware they exist? And also, how do you go about creating new fans altogether?  To answer those questions, we invited today's guest to help us out. Because recently, they had a new lager to bring to market and incorporated a range of tools to ensure it hit their desired audience. Verity Phillips is the Media Lead at Asahi UK, working across a portfolio of premium brands including Peroni Nastro Azzurro, Asahi Super Dry, London Pride and Cornish Orchards, to name a few.  She is responsible for the media strategy within the marketing team: anything from social media to radio to TV. Verity has helped the Asahi brands reach a broader lager drinking audience in the UK whilst maintaining their premium position in the category. And this year, Verity has been involved in the launch of Peroni Nastro Azzurro Stile Capri, an easy-drinking beer inspired by the refreshing taste and scent of the Mediterranean. In this episode, recorded live at our Brewers Congress event in October, she talks us through the launch of Peroni Stile Capri to the UK market, and how Asahi UK used media to target 18-34 lager drinkers. She explains how younger consumers have become increasingly difficult to reach through traditional media channels thanks to a changing landscape in the last 8 to 10 years.  With that in mind, the business adopted a range of media opportunities such as dynamic out of home advertising, sampling campaigns and more.   As a result, 97% of Lager Drinkers aged 18-35 said they has seen the company's Peroni Stile Capri advertising at least once, and 88% on them at least three times.

Tana opens up about why he feels embarrassed by the way people have treated Ian Foster, how he helped forge Bundee Aki's career, why he decided to change the All Blacks Haka in 2005 and what his relationship with Brian O'Driscoll is like after that famous incident in that Lions series. Francois takes us behind the scenes to reveal; how Rassie meticulously plans for scenarios and outcomes better than anyone in world rugby, the secrets a team needs to know to win a World Cup and how the Springboks managed to put a game plan together against the French which saw them come out on top. Snake Eyes continues the unfortunate legacy of the legendary G.I. Joe toys on film. As in, it's not particularly good, nor was it successful. Snake Eyes, like many films nowadays, is meant to serve as an origin story for its titular hero, but also as an introduction to a larger universe. We get appearances from Cobra's Baroness, as well as the classic Joe Scarlett. The issue is they don't necessarily fit. They are crammed into what's already a messy film. Thus, they are shortchanged and underdeveloped. What is developed is the film's inability to make Snake Eyes, played by Henry Golding, particularly endearing. From the jump, his motivations and behavior establish him as almost a villain, especially when compared to Tommy, future Storm Shadow (Andrew Koji). In more trustworthy hands, Snake Eyes' dilemma and traitorous actions may have seemed tortured, something the audience could empathize with. The script here just doesn't allow for that. Instead, he comes across as a jerk for nearly the entire runtime. It's honestly one of the stranger attempts at a Hero's Journey I've ever seen. Couple that with a shaky cam that even Paul Greengrass would find offensive, a MacGuffin too stupid for even Cobra Commander to want, and a gaggle of giant snakes not murdering Jon Voigt, you've got yourself a fairly painful night at the movies. Critics and audiences seem to agree. With 170 reviews, it sits at 36% on Rotten Tomatoes; and it grossed a measly $40.1 million on a budget ranging from $88 to $110 million. That, folks, is disastrous. Anyway, now you know and knowing is half the battle. So sit back, kanpai with an Asahi Super Dry, and don't jump into the snake pit! I, the Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Chumpzilla, and Capt. Cash are overstuffing fish with guns for the Yakuza! This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – Seems like an odd choice to make Snake Eyes the least likable character in your Snake Eyes movie. Dildo launchers, taming zoo animals, a yacht filled with strippers, spikes welded to everything and gimp suits. So yeah don't listen to us but do listen to us. We need the play time.... This week's lager of the week is Asahi Super Dry.

They ask the big questions like “Which has more text on it: a New York Times front page or an Asahi Super Dry beer can?” They dispense critical advice, such as what to do when your friend peels back a cup sake top. Craft Brew News – 07/25/19(courtesy or Brewbound – www.brewbound.com)Anheuser-Busch InBev to Sell Australian Business to Asahi Group Holdings for $11.3 BillionA week after pulling back from a planned IPO of its Asia-Pacific operations, Anheuser-Busch InBev announced today an $11.3 billion deal to sell its Australian subsidiary, Carlton & United Breweries, to Asahi Group Holdings. The news also comes a day after The Wall Street Journal reported that A-B InBev was exploring asset sales of business units in Australia, South Korea, Guatemala and Honduras in an effort to cut its $100 billion debt load incurred through its 2016 MegaBrew merger with SABMiller. For its part, Asahi said the acquisition of Carlton & United Breweries creates a “third core [business] pillar” to go along with its business units in Japan and Europe. Asahi also pointed to “sustainable economic growth” in Australia, where the company already sells brands such as Asahi Super Dry, Peroni and Pilsner Urquell. Carlton & United Breweries’ portfolio of brands, including Carlton and Great Northern, is “highly profitable, with EBITDA margin of over 40 percent,” the company added.Lord Hobo Cuts 8 Jobs, But Plans to Add Hundreds More as it Opens New TaproomsRumors of a large layoff at Massachusetts’ Lord Hobo Brewing Company began circulating Thursday evening on social media.Reality was much different.Lord Hobo founder Daniel Lanigan told Brewbound that the company cut eight jobs across sales, marketing, production and taproom staff this week, which he classified as part of the “normal course of business.”“This is not a layoff. It’s not because of a financial problem,” he said. “We’re up 13,000 barrels this year over last year. We’re having a crazy good year.”The Woburn, Massachusetts-based craft brewery, Lanigan added, has added 40 jobs over the last 12 months, and is currently hiring six other positions.Molson Coors Acquires London’s Hop Stuff BreweryMolson Coors has acquired financially troubled London craft brewery Hop Stuff. In a blog post, Hop Stuff founder James Yeomans said the company had been facing “financial difficulties in the recent months” that forced it to enter “administration,” a process similar to bankruptcy in the U.S., on July 12.Yeomans wrote “I’m pleased to say that we were able to secure an asset sale to Molson Coors Brewing Company as part of a pre-packaged administration process, which includes our brewery, brand and taprooms and the transfer of all staff to Molson Coors, Due to our financial position, this was the best possible option for our people and the future of our beers, or we faced the whole business going into liquidation.”Hop Stuff was founded in 2013 with the support of 72 investors, according to the company’s website. The number of investors grew to 1,300 as the company conducted three “successful” crowdfunding rounds. In its third crowdfunding round, the company raised around $1 million (£800,000) in February 2018, taking its total investments received through crowdfunding to around $1.8 million (£1.5 million), according to The Morning Advertiser.Subscribe to Craft Beer Storm Podcast iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/craft-beer-storm/id1438117278?mt=2*** A Top 20 Podcast in Food on iTunes ***Michael Potorti is the Host of Craft Beer Storm and Founder/Brewer at Beara Brewing Co. in Portsmouth, NH*** Interested in starting your own brewery? I’ve been looking forward (massive understatement) to reviewing this cigar from the moment Drew Estate made the announcement and tonight I was finally holding three of them in my hand. On the flipside, I had also been dreading the crew’s discussion of this Japanese anime film for weeks as it is so far out of my comfort zone that I was afraid my ignorance of the genre and my inability to comprehend the existential underlyings of the movie would be revealed to all the moment I opened my big mouth.
