This episode begins with Jemma and Marina explaining why they weren't aligned this week for pretty much the first time in Trawl history, though their disagreement was quickly put to rest once they'd consulted listeners and asked what you think. There's a quick goodbye to the MOTD version of Gary Lineker and then, it's straight into what's happening in politics here in the UK. However, before they get round to the newly announced Reform manifesto, they feel it's only fair to check in with Tory HQ. Someone's got to after all. There's not a huge amount to report apart from Kemi Badenoch being roasted by Trevor Phillips, Robert Jenrick turning into a London Underground vigilante with more than a dash of Alan Partridge and one very unaware tweet. Then it's time to break down some of what Farage had to say, only you'll be pleased to note that one clip of Natasha Devon will blow your mind and give you hope. It certainly had that effect on the Trawl ladies and begs the question why getting do Reform get so much airtime? When Farage starts lecturing women on what they should and shouldn't be able to decide about their own bodies, it's time to look at the kind of people who agree with him. Some hilarious takes follow; A bumper under rated clip and tweet section comes next and the clip of Trump being insulted and sulking like a petulant toddler is almost as funny as the one of a regretful Musk who is clearly not allowed to play with the big boys at The White House any more. Leader of the Lib Dems, Ed Davey, makes a good point about how well that's gone for him. Pudding ends the episode where it began with one from the Broken News vaults belonging to brilliant comedians, Larry and Paul. Enjoy! Marina and Jemma are finding January 'interesting.' Certainly 'Dry Janning' is beyond them. Trump's been inaugurated for goodness sake and there's a lot of batshittery to Trawl through before they can even begin on that! In this one the Trawl ladies kick off by discussing the 'temporary' ceasefire in Gaza. There's a clip of actor, Guy Pearce, whose response encapsulates the underwhelm they're experiencing given the killing seems to have continued. It's also horrendous to witness Trump and Biden using the announcement as a political football, to unpick Starmer's reaction, to see Netanyahu using language which shows little resolve. On top of that there's a Trump clip which is truly sickening. He quite clearly views Palestine as wonderful real estate and even cites 'great weather.' It goes without saying, any break from the relentless violence is welcome and to be celebrated, but it doesn't mean what's taken place isn't tragic, brutal and unforgivable.Marina and Jemma have a conversation about social media which brings to light what Jemma has been watching on TikTok because it's been making waves and headlines. Not content with controlling X and Meta, Trump also has designs on TikTok and is also on intent on making money from it. This is despite being the one who wanted it banned, which he said repeatedly. The ladies have receipts. Then there's the coin Trump has released and he's made billions. He might as well just say GIVE ME YOUR MONEY NUMBNUTS.Still, on a positive, Isabel Oakeshott has moved to Dubai...Larry and Paul's Broken News are your pudding. The episode begins with some heart wrenching clips. Firstly we hear a weather report from a presenter who is audibly horrified by what he's having to tell people and then from a lady who is beyond angry that Ron DeSantis is choosing to politicise the disaster and appeals to her fellow Floridians. Then, the reviews are in! Unleashed by Boris Johnson is being flogged on every platform he can get on (which is all of them sadly) but, despite him repeating the book title ad infinitum, all Marina and Jemma are interested in is his disgusting confession that he had no idea about Brexit. I mean, we all knew it, but good to hear it out loud, even if he doesn't care and isn't sorry. The rest of the episode focuses on two issues the likes of The Mail and The Telegraph have been telling people to be livid about for days - Sue Gray and the Chagos Islands. Jemma and Marina discuss how it points to a deeper problem - the power of the Right Wing media and why arguably Leveson 2 is so desperately needed. The history behind the Chagos Islands certainly isn't being written about. Neither is the fact that the same outcome would have been required no matter who was in power. But don't worry, The Trawl ladies have plenty of tweets which put you in the picture. They finish with Under Rated Tweets of the week and pudding by Larry and Paul and Broken News. Depressingly, this episode mainly reflects what's dominating the news, the headlines and indeed social media and, it's Farage. The man is everywhere, like a stain you simply can't get rid off, partly because Sunak et al have pandered to him for years. Marina and Jemma delve into how quite long he's been disrupting from the side-lines with some extraordinary clips to illustrate. Meanwhile, the Reform manifesto (contract) has been announced and it's holier than a piece of Emmental - fiscal black holes all over the shop. So why do people buy it? With so many people turning to Reform it warrants discussion and means no one is entirely sure who the real opposition will be post election. Then we look at the latest spat of strange AI images created for 'patriotic' reasons by right -wingers though the Trawl ladies think it might be a case of 'too much time on their hands.' They've mainly been inspired by the Trooping of The Colour and Alison Pearson might have had the worst take of all. Some great under rated tweets and clips finish off the ep and pudding is superb and very fitting and is by Larry and Paul and the Broken News team. If you would like to support the show, too, and allow it to keep going, you can sign up at patreon.com/NonCensored, where you'll get the full interviews in video, a monthly bonus "time for questions" podcast, and a weekly behind-the-scenes podcast for top-tier backers, which is where we say what we really think about the news and thus run the risk of getting cancelled. You can also keep your questions coming to the team by emailing noncensoredpodcast@gmail.com. And we'll refund a month's subscription for any Patreon who buys a ticket! Thanks to Rosie Holt (@RosieIsAHolt), Brendan Murphy (@notmurphy), Eshaan Akbar (@eshaanakbar), Davina Bentley (@davinabentleycomedy), Paul Dunphy (@mrpauldunphy) and Ed Morrish. Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who Podcast

This week, we're playing Doctor Who madlibs — cowering in an UNDERWATER BASE, waiting for the ELECTROMAGNETIC GHOSTS to pick us off one by one. Fortunately, Peter Capaldi and some attractive young people are here to keep us entertained. We're Under the Lake. Notes and links The CEO of this base under siege is apparently called Richard Pritchard, a name some of us first encountered in Broken News, a 2005 comedy which replicated the exprience of channel hoping between 24-hour news channels during an emerging international crisis. On one of those channels, news anchor Richard Pritchard was accompanied by Katie Tate and Melanie Bellamby (Torchwood's Indira Varma). Nathan mentions an outstanding performance in Toby Whithouse's previous episode A Town Called Mercy. He's either referring to Adrian Scarborough as Kahler-Jex or Ben Browder as Isaac. The coordinate system Nathan refers to is called what3words: it divides the Earth's surface into 3 × 3 metre squares and assigns a three-word phrase to each square. At the risk of compromising my opsec, the pub I'm going to for dinner tonight has its front door in the square cross.paying.bucked. Follow us Nathan is on ex-Twitter as @nathanbottomley, Brendan is @brandybongos,and Simon is @simonmoore72. The Flight Through Entirety theme was arranged by Cameron Lam. You can follow the podcast on Twitter at @FTEpodcast. We're also on Facebook, Mastodon, and Bluesky, and you can check out our website at flightthroughentirety.com. Please consider rating or reviewing us on Apple Podcasts, or we'll cast you as Second Tree in your next local amateur theatre production. And more Jodie into Terror is our flashcast on every episode of the Whittaker era, recorded just a couple of days after the broadcast of the episode. Bondfinger is our James Bond commentary podcast, which also covers some of our favourite spy-fi TV shows of the sixties and seventies. Maximum Power is a podcast about Blakes 7, a co-production with the Trap One Podcast. It's on hiatus right now, but it will be returning soon with our coverage of Series C. And finally, there's our Star Trek commentary podcast, Untitled Star Trek Project, featuring Nathan and friend-of-the-podcast Joe Ford. In our most recent episode, we watch the Series 5 finale and Series 6 premiere of Star Trek: Voyager — Equinox and Equinox, Part II — moderately entertaining episodes that fail in a very characteristically Voyager way.

Don't miss this warm, funny professional's guided tour of an industry that is failing us—the "Broken News." You'll laugh, you'll cry. You'll know a thing or two to do to fix it. Our very special guest, Chris Stirewalt—a former Fox News political editor— gives us an inside view of the rage-driven political environment we've found ourselves plunged into: “Rage revenue-addicted news companies are plagued by shoddy reporting, sensationalism, groupthink, and brain-dead partisan tribalism. Newsrooms rely on emotion-driven blabber to entrance conflict-addled super users.” We think that just about nails it.  Chris Stirewalt is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), where he focuses on American politics, voting trends, public opinion, and the media. He is concurrently a contributing editor and weekly columnist for The Dispatch. Before joining AEI, he was political editor of Fox News Channel, where he helped coordinate political coverage across the network and specialized in on-air analysis of polls and voting trends. Funding for this program was provided through a grant from Florida Humanities with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The Village Square is a proud member of The Democracy Group, a network of podcasts that examines what's broken in our democracy and how we can work together to fix it.

The Biden-Harris Administration announced an action that will save homebuyers and homeowners with new FHA-insured mortgages an average of $800 per year, lowering housing costs for an estimated 850,000 homebuyers and homeowners in 2023. I'm going to breakdown the math behind this move and if it should result in you actually changing your decision to buy a home in 2023. Vice President Harris and Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Fudge will travel to Bowie, Maryland, today to announce that HUD, through the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), will reduce its annual mortgage insurance premium by 0.30 percentage points, from 0.85% to 0.55% for most new borrowers. The mortgage insurance premium is the monthly fee that homeowners with FHA-insured mortgages pay to insure their mortgages, which they pay on top of their monthly principal and interest payments. This is a show for millennial first time home buyers looking to buy their 1st home and build generational wealth through real estate. Real estate is a way to build black wealth and close the wealth gap. We have a 2022 post-election show with a twist. Instead of focusing on which party is up or down, we open the hood and examine the engine of our democracy. Voters delivered a clear verdict: Most election deniers were defeated as many voters, especially independents, split their ballots, and shunned the extremes. Our guests are Layla Zaidane, President and CEO of Millennial Action Project— the nation's largest nonpartisan organization of young lawmakers— and David Meyers, founding Executive Editor of the democracy newsletter, The Fulcrum. In the days before the election, the media was full of warnings, and perhaps some hyperbole, about the perilous state of American democracy. Both of our guests and podcast co-hosts agree that many of the results were reassuring for the guardrails of the electoral system."I think when the dust settles we're going to feel pretty good about this election," Layla told us. "Things went really well," said David. "The continued use of voting-by-mail and early voting has gone a long way towards making sure more people had the opportunity to vote and not wait in very long lines."We also examine the arguments over Ranked-Choice Voting, open primaries, and the need for a quicker vote account in some states where results took well over a week to come through. In their conversation after the interview, Jim and Richard debate voting-my-mail, early voting, reforming the primaries, and how to encourage states to make improvements in vote tabulation. Richard favors limited action by Congress, but Jim is vigorously opposed to any federal reforms or interference in how states conduct their elections.Recommendation: Richard is reading "Broken News.
