**Violence and Dysfunction Plague Brooklyn Jail: The Unlikely Cellmates of Sean 'Diddy' Combs and Sam Bankman-Fried**In the midst of a notorious federal jail in Brooklyn, New York, two high-profile inmates are sharing a barrack-style living space: Sean "Diddy" Combs, the music mogul accused of sex trafficking and racketeering, and Sam Bankman-Fried, the cryptocurrency entrepreneur convicted of orchestrating a massive financial fraud.Sean Combs, 54, was arrested last week and is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is awaiting trial. Combs's legal team has expressed concerns about the conditions at MDC, citing rampant violence, poor living conditions, and a history of fatalities within the facility. Despite these concerns, Combs remains in custody, with a judge denying his request for bail and instead mandating his placement in a special housing unit for high-profile detainees.Sam Bankman-Fried, 32, is also housed at MDC. He was found guilty in November 2023 of orchestrating a massive fraud scheme that misappropriated billions of dollars from customers of his cryptocurrency exchange, FTX. Bankman-Fried was sentenced to 25 years in prison but is currently appealing the conviction. His lawyers have raised concerns about his limited internet access and poor dietary conditions during his incarceration. The MDC, which houses approximately 1,600 inmates, has faced numerous complaints over the years. Inmates have reported widespread violence, significant staff shortages, and the trafficking of illicit substances. The facility has also seen a series of tragic incidents, including the fatal stabbings of two inmates and the death of another due to injuries sustained in a fight.Despite these challenges, Bankman-Fried has requested to remain at MDC while he seeks to appeal his conviction. His placement in the special housing unit alongside Combs has raised eyebrows, given the contrasting nature of their crimes. While Combs faces allegations of physical and sexual exploitation, Bankman-Fried is serving time for a financial crime that affected thousands of investors. The Bureau of Prisons has acknowledged the challenges at MDC and is actively working to address them. The agency has announced plans to hire additional permanent staff and resolve over 700 outstanding maintenance requests. However, the ongoing issues at the facility highlight the complexities and dangers faced by inmates and staff alike. As Combs and Bankman

**Diddy and Sam Bankman-Fried: Unlikely Cellmates in Brooklyn's MDC**In a surprising turn of events, Sean "Diddy" Combs, the renowned rapper and entrepreneur, has found himself sharing a cell with Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of FTX, at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn. This unlikely pairing has garnered significant attention, given the vastly different backgrounds and charges against the two men.Diddy, who has been charged with racketeering and sex trafficking, has pleaded not guilty to the allegations. His lawyers have argued that the prison conditions are "horrific," with inmates confined to their cells for 23 hours a day. The MDC, which has a reputation for undesirable living conditions, has faced criticism for its understaffing and lack of basic amenities, including a recreational yard and proper lighting.Sam Bankman-Fried, on the other hand, is serving a 25-year sentence for defrauding customers at FTX, a cryptocurrency exchange. His conviction was based on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, securities fraud, commodities fraud, and money laundering. Bankman-Fried has been in the MDC since his bail was revoked last year and has previously been housed with high-profile inmates like an ex-president of Honduras and Mexico's former secretary of public security. The dormitory-style room where Diddy and Bankman-Fried are housed accommodates around 20 inmates, including other high-profile defendants. This unit is designed to provide special protection to inmates who might be at higher risk in the general prison population. Despite the challenges, inmates in this unit have access to gym equipment, games, and tablets for entertainment, although these tablets are not connected to the internet. The situation highlights the complexities of the U.S. prison system, where individuals from vastly different walks of life can find themselves in the same environment. As Diddy navigates his time in the MDC, he joins a long list of high-profile inmates, including singer R. Kelly and Ghislaine Maxwell, an associate of Jeffrey Epstein. This unusual cellmate arrangement serves as a reminder of the harsh realities faced by those incarcerated in the U.S., particularly in facilities like the MDC, which have been criticized for their conditions. As both men continue their respective journeys through the justice system, their shared experience in the MDC will undoubtedly be a unique and challenging one.

Executive Director Susan Jacobs-Meadows with Canine CellMates joins the Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio podcast to discuss the Beyond the Bars program and how it changes the lives of incarcerated men. Jacobs-Meadows joins host Carol Morgan on the Around Atlanta segment. Jacobs-Meadows has a varied professional background, with experience in many different fields. From serving in the military to owning her own business, Jacobs-Meadows is a woman of many talents! Her exciting path eventually led to her founding Canine CellMates, a rehabilitative program that partners with the Fulton County Sheriff's Department, Fulton County Jail and shelter dogs to offer inmates a second chance. The jail dogs program pulls canines out of animal shelters and moves them into Fulton County jail 24 hours a day with inmate handlers. It also offers classes five days a week to teach inmates the necessary skills to handle the dogs successfully. The organization also works to get all of the dogs adopted. Jacobs-Meadows said, “The program centers around the dogs but the focus is on the men.” The participating inmates take classes that cover personal development, critical thinking, public speaking, building creative muscle as well as interviewing and writing skills. They also bring in speakers to talk to the men about various topics. Jacobs-Meadows shared the goal is to present inmates with as many ideas and concepts as possible so that when they rejoin society, they will make better choices to avoid returning to incarceration. As of now, the organization solely works in Fulton but hopes to expand to other counties for their in-custody program. The program is still waiting to be reinstated after a necessary pandemic hiatus but hopes to return soon! Last year, the organization took over an abandoned building in an enormous leap of faith. To create more awareness in the market, Canine CellMates needed a space of its own to thrive and expand. After moving into the building, the natural next step was to offer additional services. Born in the brand-new facility, Beyond the Bars is an alternative disposition program. The selected participants join the organization at the facility four half days a week to take part in an intensive program for 90 days. They work with rescue dogs in a group training environment, perform upkeep around the facility and partake in a very focused curriculum that centers around conflict resolution, effective communication, parenting skills and emotional competence. After 90 days, a graduation ceremony is held to applaud their hard work and commitment. Jacobs-Meadows said, “It's important momprofitnonprofitto recognize that this was a pretty significant thing they just finished.” After the 90 days, the participating dogs are officially adoptable, and the inmates phase up with their involvement gradually lessens over the remaining nine months. After one year, the program is completed, and their charges go away. Tune in to the full interview to learn more about Beyond the Bars and Canine CellMates or visit www.CanineCellMates.com. This might not only be one of my all time favorite podcast conversations… but one of my favorite conversations — period. If you’re ready to get real… raw and work through some of the pain you’ve been holding onto, THIS is the episode for you.  But don’t be fooled — it’s also filled with a whole lot of laughs and some seriously colorful language. So headphones are a must if you’re at work or around the littles. 'Cause in this episode, we #sharetheshit Meet Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Melody Murray Parks. Not only does Melody work as a mental health evaluator in a Seattle ER while also running her own private practice, she’s also had an eventful career in TV, worked as an actor, hosted a children’s show and performed standup comedy. Two minutes after meeting Melody, you’ll be all “of course she did.” Read Melody's post: A Therapist’s Journey to Radical Self Care Plus, Melody answers questions from the Forty Thrive community: How to deal with anxiety How to deal with being laid off Are women in midlife over medicated? Why? About Melody: I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Child Mental Health Specialist in private practice.  I also work as a Mental Health Evaluator in the ER at Seattle Children's Hospital and co-facilitate Suicide Assessment and Treatment trainings for the nursing staff.    I also do presentations on topics including: Suicidal Ideation, Self-Care, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Mental Health & Social Media and Secondary Trauma.   I am a solution-focused clinician with a direct, casual, yet interactive approach. I help my clients learn positive ways to manage negative thought patterns, unwanted behavioral responses, process experiences that create fear, shame and sadness.  I help my clients love and accept themselves again OR, for the very first time. Before becoming a therapist, I spent several years working in film, television and casting as a producer and director.  I was also an actor, hosted a children's show and performed standup comedy.   I have a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles.  I am a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists as well as the Producers Guild of America.  I am currently writing a book on Adolescent Suicidal Ideation. Thriver of the Week!  The other thing I announced last week — I am really stoked about. THRIVER of the WEEK! Each week, I’ll be featuring one woman from the Forty Thrive free and private Facebook community as our Thriver of the Week. One of the things I most love is that our Thriver is SELF submission only. What does that mean? It means you gotta get over the fear of being too extra and show up and tell us all about what makes you so damn special. I know it’s tough for a lot of women to embrace that badass, confident side so I think it’s awesome how many women have nominated themselves for this honor. To nominate yourself, go HERE.  This week’s THRIVER of the WEEK is... Heather Stewart About Heather: At the age of 44, I started taking improv classes at Second City Hollywood.  Not because I want to act or needed to take classes, simply because it sounded fun and I had an  affinity for it. I've been going non-stop since Feb 2018.  I have had to do my first auditions (ever), get headshots made (just to move up in levels) and have found SO MUCH JOY!   I began my graduation process by presenting an original sketch show with 7 other super talented women.  We're called Jane Fonda's Cellmates because it's the first title someone came up with that made us all laugh hysterically.  We're arrestingly funny.  I took a chance and did something because I thought it would be fun.  Did I think about my age? Of course. Did it stop me? NOPE!  Find a way to do the things that bring you joy regardless of how old you may be! CONGRATULATIONS, HEATHER!  And if you’re in the LA area and want to check out Jane Fonda’s Cellmates in person, CLICK HERE.  Mentioned in this episode: Inside Out (movie) Forty Thrive: From Bachelorette to Business Badass Forty Thrive: Life After The Bachelor (Part 2) Forty Thrive: Thriving through Transitions Robyn Lattaker-Johnson

In this installment of the Wolf’s Den, JB interviews his old friend, Tommy Chong. Tommy gained fame in the seventies as the Anglo half of the legendary, ganja-obsessed comedy duo, Cheech and Chong.  He’s managed to remain in the limelight pretty much ever since by appearing in a wide variety of movies and television shows, as well as selling his own brand of water pipes. Chong’s bongs landed him in a little hot bongwater a few years back, and he ended up befriending JB when they were both at camp upstate.JB and Tommy reminisce about their days inside when they were bunkmates, talk Trump, politics, weed, and women, and generally have a familiar and fascinating conversation about everything from government conspiracy theories, to the Russian involvement in the 2016 election, to living in the moment.Learn more about your ad choices. The majority of people do not do things that will place them in prison, but in case you accidentally find yourself there, here are some survival tips that may help: 1. Don't talk about your case; don't try to buddy up with people; don't get too involved with prison politics; don't trust anyone; hide your emotions; make use of your cellmates; use your words carefully; always be polite and respectful to guards and other prison employees; don't be a snitch; don't ask the staff to solve your problems; respect other inmates; do not get involved with a gang; do not do drugs; do not gamble; do not get involved with homosexuals; do not talk to the guards; keep yourself busy with positive activities; and finally, get GOD in your life!
