GOOD DAY HEALTH - DR. JACK - WEEKLY RECAP: Available Thursdays @ 5 AM Eastern GoodDayHealthShow.com Thursday, April 24 -  Dr. Jack Stockwell (www.forbiddendoctor.com & www.jackstockwell.com | Phone: 866-867-5070), a GAPS Practitioner and NUCCA Chiropractor, starts this episode with by addressing a common product on which he receives questions from patients and listeners — energy bars. Many add energy bars and protein bars in an effort to clean up their diet, with row after row of energy bars at health food stores. Here's the thing . . . they're not natural (even when listed as “natural,” and are essentially candy bars made from waste products. Dr. Jack breaks down the ingredients of the most popular energy bars and why they aren't as healthy as you think. Examples of such include the Boulder Bar, Source Bar, Power Bar, Cliff Bars, BioZone Bars, Atkins Advantage Bar (though it's the lowest amount of sugar), BioZone Bar, Balance Bars, and more. Many of these energy bars include excess sugar, sodium, canola oil, ultra-processed ingredients, and soy products, which Dr. Jack advices everyone should stay away from — but, especially men, as it raises estrogen levels. Are any energy bars OK? Well . . . Kind Bar is still processed and sugary, but it's loaded with nuts and is a more doable option should you need to eat a bar. Even Dr. Jack will eat a Kind bar when it's passed out on an airplane. Then, Doug and Dr. Jack discuss the latest work from RFK Jr, why more children and teens are struggling with anxiety and depression, and safety studies for vaccines. Website: GoodDayHealthrShow.com Social Media: @GoodDayNetworks

In this episode, the boys sit down with Justin Silverstein, the Head Coach of USC's Women's Golf Team. We kick things off with Justin's take on where the team is at headed into the golf season, as one of the top golf programs in the USA. Justin touches on the system they use to improve player performance, similar to the idea of money ball in baseball, utilizing data to optimize for key metrics and building mental fortitude. Justin also talks about the challenges working with top athletes and addressing areas of improvements... and some of the interesting aspects of watching some athletes come through the USC athletic program to go on to play professionally and how equipped the school is to help athletes navigate that journey. Born in Los Angeles and migrating to Dallas, Justin was one of a dozen kids that went on in his junior golf program that ended up going on to play Division 1 golf (at the University of Arizona). We have fun with the rapid fire segment of the show (Presented by @criquetshirts) where we learn Justin enjoys his Cliff Bars and the USC Team enjoys their Gold Fish. All that and much more! Jean Wilson is an artist, farmer and urban forager in Detroit. ZAK: Today on The Best Advice Show, I'm dipping into my archives. 13 years ago I got some advice from Detroit farmer and artist, Jean Wilson. She taught me a super effective way to pare down my grocery bills. It's Food Friday. ZAK: It's about 9 o'clock, I just pulled up to a westside, organic market. I'm here with Jean Wilson. So, what are we about to do? JEAN: We're about to dive in a dumpster and look for some fresh produce. ZAK: Are you diving just for yourself? JEAN: I do end up feeding myself and then also my mother who's on an income of $500 dollars/month social security and my friends and then end up cooking large meals for sometimes hundreds of people. ZAK: You're cooking for hundreds of people you just said? Just random people you find on the street? JEAN: Well, like last weekend we cooked up as much food as we could and we took it down to the lower, Cass Corridor area and served people over there. When I see a lot of food, I find a way to get rid of it. I just can't see this food going to waste. ZAK: Let's go. JEAN: This particular place doesn't waste very much at all. ZAK: We're looking inside a big, metal dumpster. It's about a third of the way full, there are probably 10 garbage bags. JEAN: Light ones we toss aside. When it's heavy it's a good sign. I'm gonna hop up inside. Keeps me inside. ZAK: Jean's in the dumpster. I'm gonna stay outside. You just ripped open that bag. I see some Cliff Bars. Empty, though. Jean, you've done this before. You are moving like a super-human right now. You've already gone through 4 bags. What constitutes what's take-able and what isn't? JEAN: I just take stuff that's good. Like, this whole onion looks good. This apple looks entirely good. ZAK: When was the last time you went into a grocery story and paid for food. JEAN: I've probably spent 50 dollars in the last five years. Seriously. ZAK: Whereas most people spend on themselves, maybe 200/month would be a modest estimate? JEAN: My mother spends six or seven dollars a week because she's particular. I'll eat anything. I just pick out the healthiest stuff and I pick out what I have. Sometimes there was just cheese and crackers for a few days, well, that's ok but as long as I continue to dumpster for food the quality and freshness and quantity and choices have been amazing. We should be getting together and making sure that this food doesn't go to waste. We all should be eating all the food. ZAK: What is that a mango? JEAN:Yeah, that's a really good mango. There's a couple good apples. ZAK: How about them apples? Jean, what is garbage? JEAN: Something that can't be used at all. Something that can't be eaten or fed to the worm box in the kitchen or the compost in the backyard. ZAK: But what we just put in my trunk, that's not garbage? JEAN: What do you think? Wanna come over for dinner tomorrow?

All Melissa Boudreau, creator and founder of ItFits Bar, wanted was to be able to have a protein bar that tasted great, used real products rather than sugars and "fillers", could cater to her macronutrient needs and wouldn't upset her stomach and autoimmune conditions. This was a thought she had back in 2017 as she was helping a friend move house and was in a car driving across the country. As any entrepreneurial mind does, it thinks, well if I have this problem others must as well and so she got working on creating a bar that she could enjoy, but that others would enjoy as well.Nearly three years later, 20,000 bars sold and a LOT of ups and downs, Melissa and ItFits Bars is still in business and is looking to launch 4 brand new flavours just in time for Christmas. I had soo much fun chatting with Melissa and hearing her story and I hope you enjoy the chat as well.Melissa has an amazing product and a product that is Vegan, Gluten Free and is filled with quality products that you can taste from the very first bite you take. I want to thank Melissa for today's chat and wish her well on her future endeavours and KNOW that she will continue to strive to get her product in the hands of as many people she can to show that you can have a protein bar that is healthy for you AND tastes great! Run, Logan, Run!  Before we heard Jenny’s cry for Forrest to flee from danger, Jessica was helping the sandman-turned-runner Logan flee from his imminent doom in the 23rd Century.  SuperFriend, Paul Bateman (art director and concept designer) lends his filmatic expertise to the conversation about Logan’s Run as shazbazzar and JediShua face a frightening future in the dystopian movies of the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s.    We Love Our Cereal… …but not necessarily every cereal equally.  Before JediShua, shazbazzar, and the shazlings give their thoughts about the new Dippin’ Dots cereals and a Cold Stone Creamery / Malt-O-Meal mashup, Shane in Grand Rapids chimes in with news that Cliff Bars are dipping their granola into the cereal bowl.  Are they macadamia nuts?  PLUS: Darth Taxus debates his dilemma with an abandoned (?) box of Special K Blueberry with Lemon Clusters.     Logan’s Run Summertime is a funner time when you’re not living in a bleak dystopia.  Still, the ‘Dads are embarking on a voyage into one of science fiction’s shadowy realms this summer by looking back at dystopian movies from decades past.  This week, art director and concept artist Paul Bateman brings his wit and wisdom to the conversation as the projector plays Logan’s Run.  Saul David’s seemingly utopian city belies a hidden dystopian truth as technology encourages the young to placate themselves with peaceful pleasure until some begin to realize that being “renewed” at thirty years-old isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.       Toys in the Attic After several long days in 2074 mixed with the heat of summer, we’re all due for something cold and refreshing, and Snoopy gives us the perfect treat — snow cones!  JediShua and shazbazzar recall, not only their memories of the Snoopy Sno-Cone Machine, but also Kool-Aid and Lemonade stands from the yonder years of youth.  After all, who can forget that catchy tune from the old commercial?   Feedback Andy “Let Me Google that for You” Lindemann sends in an electronic-M with mp3dback because he has music on his mind.  From Rush to Cheap Trick to playing a benefit concert for kids (filled with tunes from the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s), Andy brings a musical flair to graying hair.  Puddingsbane on Discord (#TeamSteve!) reveals the answer to a lingering question about Burger Chef and Burger King regarding Star Wars glasses and the words “only eight million” escape shazbazzar’s lips.   Thanks for tuning in to TechnoRetro Dads, EarBuds!  Don’t forget to rate and review TechnoRetro Dads on iTunes, share us and with us on social media, and join discussions on Discord about toys, cereal, games, movies and/or shows from the ‘70s and ‘80s by giving the ‘Dads your feedback via voice mail at (209) 878-7323 or sending us your mp3dback via electronic-M to podcast@TechnoRetroDads.com.   Share and enjoy.

48 Days to the Work You Love Internet Radio Show

Episode #593 January 05, 2018 –  We all have two choices in life: accept life as it is or accept responsibility to change it. Hi this is Dan Miller – and yes you're listening to the 48 Days Radio show – where each week we take 48 minutes to dive into real life questions about finding your passion, deciding what kind of life you want to live – and then finding or creating work that allows you to show up every day, excited to be able to do something that is meaningful, fulfilling – and profitable.  This is where normal, indecision and ambiguity come to die.  Welcome to the 48 Days Radio Show. Questions: What are some examples of a large financial shovel? Can having goals in your 7 life areas help with my depression? Should I leave my job 3 years before my retirement package starts? I have two degrees in areas I'm not interested in, I don't want to ever work for an employer again, but I need to make money now. Rob: What if you could hang out with seriously talented copywriters and other experts, ask them about their successes and failures, their work processes and their habits, then steal an idea or two to inspire your own work? Joins conversation in progress... Kira: Well, maybe we can start there. We’re not doing an official intro, I don’t think. I want to hear more about your travels and where you’ve been and why you’ve been traveling and what you’ve been doing off the radar. Ry: Yes. Yes, so I’ve been really on the road since mid-February. I’ve been location-independent for three or four years right now. I never really took advantage. I get very romantic about the idea of travel, but in practical terms, I can’t leave my house without packing for Cliff Bars, just because I have this intense fear of starvation. It really took a lot to pull the trigger on that, but it’s something that my girlfriend, Sue, and I were talking about for two years, just even considering relocating to Costa Rica for the winter, because who wants to be in Montreal in the winter? Then yeah, I finally pulled the trigger. I surprised her with this three-week trip, part of it at this mastermind. A few of the things are already taken care of for us and we don’t have to pack too many Cliff Bars. Yeah, we ventured down there in mid-February. It was initially supposed to be on the backend, at the end of the launch I was doing with the Copy Hackers. We were going to launch Copy School. I was going to create my new program within in, and then we were just going to celebrate with this three-week cathartic release in the jungle. As luck would have it, our launch dates got pushed back. I was actually in the jungle trying to get any kind of Wi-Fi possible in any location possible in order to write emails for the launch and just work with that pivot. God bless Joanna for being patient with that. I’m like, “I literally am in the middle of the jungle. There is no Wi-Fi present. The only Wi-Fi providers are three hours away and they really don’t give a crap about my product launch right now.” Yeah,
