Today, Eric dives into the importance of self-care and focusing on mental health, particularly during times of uncertainty.  Stay tuned as Eric shares practical ways to remain grounded and support your well-being, even when things feel unpredictable. A Late-Night Emergency in Sardinia While organizing a sales meeting for a medical device company in Sardinia, Eric experienced a powerful reminder of why health must come first. In the early morning, as his team was wrapping up video edits for a final presentation, he found a man lying unconscious with blood coming from his head. The man had fallen and hit the corner of a table. Acting Quickly—Even Against Protocol Eric contacted the head of the company, who happened to be a trained nurse practitioner. She warned that moving the man could be risky, but leaving him could be worse. When the hotel insisted on following procedure before calling a doctor, Eric bypassed protocol. He contacted his local partner, who helped him find an ambulance meant for another injured guest and had the man transferred to the hospital. The next evening, the man was back at the bar with a bandage on his head. He had just had too much to drink the night before. The Lesson: Take Ownership of Your Health That incident reinforced something Eric believes firmly: if you fail to take care of yourself, no one else will. In uncertain times, the only thing we can truly control is how we show up for ourselves. We may not be able to influence global events, but we can impact our health, mindset, and those around us. Making Health Your Priority Even though most people know what to do to stay healthy, when under stress, those habits tend to slip away. So, Eric encourages us to follow a morning routine that involves meditation, exercise, or writing. He reminds us that the challenge is not about knowledge. It is about making your health a consistent priority. Start with One Hour a Day In an unpredictable world, a daily routine can provide stability. Eric encourages everyone to block one hour each morning, even if it means waking up an hour earlier, and do whatever you can to support your well-being. That could be meditating, moving, reading, or writing. Eric reminds us that the best way to help others is by taking care of yourself first. What if the reason you still feel stuck… isn't in your mind, but hidden in your nervous system? You are not “too sensitive.” You are not “overreacting.” And you are not broken. You are running a pattern. A loop. A glitch in your system that once kept you safe, but now keeps you small. In this radical and revelatory conversation with Liz Larson, co-creator of CognoMovement, we explore the invisible architecture of your mind-body connection—where trauma hides, how it rewires your perception of reality, and why your body remembers what your mind forgets. Through the lens of nervous system mapping, brain remapping, and somatic pattern disruption, Liz exposes how your triggers, chronic pain, emotional reactivity, and even relationship blocks are not random—they are patterns your brain can unlearn. This is not theory. It's not mindset. It's biology—and it can change in minutes. You'll discover how something as simple as moving your eyes to a certain position can collapse an old trauma loop… how a small shift in posture can pull you out of fight-or-flight… and how rewiring your brain isn't about talking—it's about feeling. If you're tired of repeating the same reactions… If you're ready to feel safe enough to expand… If you're craving a new way to relate to your emotions, your body, and your past… This conversation is your turning point. Because healing isn't a mystery. It's a method. And your body already knows how to find its way home. About Liz Larson Liz Larson is a trailblazer in the field of applied neuroplasticity and co-founder of CognoMovement—a cutting-edge modality that helps people radically shift emotional, physical, and behavioural patterns by working directly with the nervous system. After witnessing her parents face simultaneous neurological decline, Liz became relentless in understanding how the body could heal the brain. Alongside co-creator Bill McKenna, Liz has developed a powerful system that blends movement, eye tracking, and somatic awareness to help people release trauma, break free from long-standing limitations, and experience tangible transformation. Liz is also a master practitioner of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and brings decades of experiential knowledge to her work. Through CognoMovement, she has helped thousands of people around the world step out of pain, anxiety, and self-sabotage—and into a new, expansive way of living. This episode is a fascinating exploration and book review of "Beyond Culture" by American anthropologist Edward T. Hall. We explore Chapter 5 "Rhythm and Body Movement" and how people literally "sync" their movements together whether in close conversation or in large groups. The highlighted points here relate to the dangers of being out of sync together or "out of phase" and how this decreases progress. One of the positives coming out of the Hurricane Helene damage in states like North Carolina is people "group syncing" together and working together in time...there is a rhythm there, and when FEMA and certain government officials came into the mix--they literally ruined the group sync which made locals very MAD! Our own government is out of phase with its own people, so, if you want to rebuild America, and the world for that matter, get "in sync" and get "in phase" with others for the right reasons (First, do NO harm!).References: "Beyond Culture" by Edward T. Do you constantly put pressure on yourself to look a certain way, or weigh a certain weight? Are you willing to do anything just to lose weight while ignoring how your body and mind feel? What if we told you that isn't the best way to honor yourself and it isn't even the best way to reach that goal! Tune in today to understand a different perspective around your activity, self worth and the options available to you. This week Jenn is joined by CEO and Co-Founder of WeShape, Katie Bramlett. After years of having a successful company, Katie couldn't get aligned with what they were promoting, so she decided to take it in a different direction, creating WeShape. Her new business focuses on movement and self worth instead of diet culture. In this episode, she talks about what diet culture tells us about our self worth, and how someone can start finding body liberation. She discusses how to connect with your body to determine what movement is in alignment for you, and how to honor yourself along your fitness journey. Tune in to learn how to determine your individualized fitness journey. The Salad With a Side of Fries podcast is hosted by Jenn Trepeck, discussing wellness and weight loss for real life, clearing up the myths, misinformation, bad science & marketing surrounding our nutrition knowledge and the food industry. Let's dive into wellness and weight loss for real life, including drinking, eating out, and skipping the grocery store. IN THIS EPISODE: [5:14] What is Katie's background and how did she get started with WeShape? [10:22] What are some indications that diet culture is influencing our thinking? [12:32] What does diet culture tell us about self worth? [17:10] How does Katie define self worth? [23:20] Where can someone find body liberation? [26:55] How can you untangle the movement from the desire to change your body?[28:29] How does self betrayal play into our typical diet culture approach to working out?[31:00] How does WeShape work through their four pillars?[36:08] Katie shares her final thoughts around self worth and movement. KEY TAKEAWAYS: Learning to understand what your body needs, what feels good in your body, and what is the right type of movement for you, is so important, as everyone is different and no one fitness routine is right for everyone. Get curious with yourself, start asking yourself hard questions to uncover what you want as an individual. Ask yourself if you are living for you or for someone else's version of what they think you should be?It has been ingrained in us that our value is based on our appearance, however that doesn't have to be your story. You can find your self worth in the ability to express your most authentic self, regardless of other people's opinions. Your weight does not equate your worth. QUOTES: [7:14] “When we look at the data and science around diets, around weight loss and weight gain, and yo yo dieting, we often see that they don't work, and people often gain the weight, if not more, back. I have a theory and belief it's because people are using that vehicle to validate their self worth, and that work is done outside of weight loss.” - Katie Bramlett“I have a theory that people are using that vehicle (weight loss and diets) to validate their self-worth.”  - Katie Bramlett“I'm not saying weight loss is bad. I'm saying when we lead with that, the fruits of that effort are often short-lived.” - Katie Bramlett“What we're really looking for is this self-worth piece and we think that that's connected to this body.” - Jenn Trepeck[17:12] “For me, I define self worth as the ability to express my most authentic self, regardless of other people's opinions.” - Katie Bramlett[36:07] “I just want to offer kindness to everybody because in a lot of ways this was normalized for all of us, and so getting more critical and more judgemental to yourself or participating in it or being in it is not going to help, so kindness can go far and we have choices.” - Katie BramlettRESOURCES:Jenn Trepeck's Episode on Weight Loss and Wellness For RealBecome A Member of Salad with a Side of FriesJenn's Free Menu PlanA Salad With a Side of FriesA Salad With A Side Of Fries MerchA Salad With a Side of Fries InstagramGUEST RESOURCESWeShape Website and 2 Week Free TrialWeShape YouTubeFeeling Lighter Pod YouTube  WeShape InstagramFeeling Lighter Podcast Instagram   The Feeling Lighter Podcast AppleWeShape TikTokWeShape FacebookGUEST BIOKatie Bramlett is the CEO and Co-Founder of WeShape and Host of The Feeling Lighter Podcast by WeShape. We are continuing our focus on movement when it comes to having a beach-ready body. In this episode, we dive into the practical realities if we want to increase the movement in our lives. Too many of us think it is impossible with our crazy schedule. The truth is it can happen with some specific focus.Reality One: You've Got to PlanThe movement required to live with a beach-ready body does not happen by accident.Planning your exercise time and how you add more movement to your life is something that you have to prioritize. The reality is no one can do this for us. We must take personal responsibility for ourselves and our bodies. We can blame society and our schedules but we make time for what's important. If we aren't making time for more movement, we need to be honest and realize we don't prioritize it enough.Reality Two: Consistency is KeyLong-term success is something that we can do regularly. We also want to take into account what is fun.We all tend to stick with things we enjoy more than things we hate.We should look for things we enjoy doing or at least, we enjoy the feeling we have afterwards from having done it.Reality Three: Variety and ChallengesOne of the great things about different types of exercise is it works our bodies in many ways. This keeps things fresh and can help stop the boredom of doing the same thing all the time.We recently challenged men to focus on getting under 30% body fat as a starting point.Challenge: Beach-Ready Body Movement PlanStep 1: Decide the WhatStarting begins when we decide what we will do to add movement into our lives. The best time might be the early morning or at lunch. We may need to experiment to find the best time and process but avoiding the issue won't get anything done. The key point is to start with something. Adjustments will come, but if we don't start we won't be able to figure the rest outStep 2: Forget Past Failures & VictoriesTwo biggest mindsets that hurt us.The first one is where we beat ourselves up for getting so out of shape. We also can't allow our past victories to influence us.The goal of a beach-ready body life is to have a process that we enjoy and can stick with for sustained health.Step 3: Get HelpSometimes the best thing we can do to develop consistency is to get help.Paid coaching, something online, or a combination of the two.Coaching also helps to bring more fun and confidence to our movement plans. When we know what we are doing from our coaching we can enjoy it more.We have a special course Physical Health 101 that is a deep dive into making fitness a reality in our lives. Find it at www.thrivingman.comStep 4: Find CommunityOne of the best ways to make movement part of our lives is to join a community. Many people go to a class at a gym because of the sense of community and fun it brings. We could even get a friend to join us in our new plan. This can bring a challenge and a sense of accountability to both of youMovement-Focused Final ThoughtsThe beach-ready body is something every one of us can have long-term.The key is to develop healthy habits over the long run. This isn't a quick fix and we cannot expect weight to drop off overnight.Start this week! Don't wait until things are perfect or you have a perfect plan. You won't regret it and you will be stronger because of it.RESOURCES TO HELP YOU THRIVE AS A MAN========================

When it comes to our health, it is easy to look for the “one trick” to bring a beach-ready body, but there isn't a trick. There isn't some “magic formula” that fixes our health and keeps us in shape. It always comes down to the little daily decisions in our life. The idea for this series came from a quote that Dr. Layne Norton put on X: "STOP stressing over every single health topic. The majority of ‘optimal' health can be achieved throughRegular exerciseControlling caloriesEating enough protein & fiberPsychological stress managementAdequate sleepDon't smoke or drinkThe amount of stress you spend on individual ingredients in food, meal timing, fasting windows, fad diets, special exercises, etc is killing you faster than getting these small things ‘wrong'"Implementing these priorities is the key to having a beach-ready body year-round. Plus they aren't weird or super complicated. On today's show, we are covering the first of two parts about Movement and its importance in our livesBeach-Ready vs SedentaryWe are a sedentary society. Most jobs today involve sitting in front of a computer.Even jobs that don't involve an office often involve a lot of sitting. This is a reality that we have to understand and work with. The Sitting NormMany of us sit at work and look at screens most of the day. When we get home, we often find ourselves sitting (with our feet propped up of course) and watching something.Sitting is not evil, but the truth we have to recognize is how much sitting we do is excessive. When we go from a sitting job to sitting at home, that can cause us to get used to the sedentary lifestyle.Walking is something we don't do often and our bodies begin to lose their muscle tone. If we don't use muscles, they get weak.A sedentary life won't help us be beach-ready it only helps us be couch-ready.Watching vs DoingWe have a spectator society and that is a bad thing for our health.Instead of doing something or trying something new, we often sit and watch the “experts” do it online.Armchair quarterbacks are a classic example of this.Trained SedationMany of us have grown up and live in a sedentary environment and we need to recognize this and fight against it.As kids, many of us grew up with all kinds of digital games and devices where we could spend hours playing but never move. This gives us a sense of activity while not doing anything active. Our devices don't help us because at any time we can watch videos and be mentally stimulated. We can't let the digital world consume us and force us to become sedentary.Mental Fatigue ReactionThe digital world we live in often drives us to end the day with a lot of mental fatigue. This is real and we do want to learn how to deal with it but we often confuse mental fatigue with physical fatigue. We can be tired mentally, but our bodies will often still need some type of movement. The amazing thing is as we work our bodies, it often stimulates our minds and energizes us mentally.RESOURCES TO HELP YOU THRIVE AS A MANThriving Man Coaching Resources4D MODEL FREE PDFLearn about the 4 fundamentals of a Successful LifeDiscover OUR SPEAKING AND HOW WE HAVE EMPOWERED THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ACROSS THE WORLD

“I'm always looking at the relationship between these arches or these domes and in my eyes or my mind, I'm always connecting the domes or the arches above and below the issue that they may be presenting with." Katie Crane   In this episode of The Pilates Lounge, I delve into the fascinating topic of the arches in the body and their relationship to posture and movement. I have always found this subject intriguing, as it allows me to explore the body in unique ways and uncover underlying issues and idiosyncrasies in my clients.   Many people come to Pilates to improve their posture or strengthen their core. While these outcomes can be achieved through Pilates, it is not simply a matter of actively fixing posture or targeting core muscles. Instead, Pilates teaches the body to move well in all ranges of motion and capabilities, naturally leading to improved posture and core strength.   This episode serves as a reminder of the beauty of Pilates and its emphasis on the arches in the body. By understanding and working with these arches, we can address a wide range of issues and help clients move forward in their Pilates journey.    Join me, Katie Crane, in The Pilates Lounge as we continue to delve into the intricacies of the human body and the transformative power of Pilates   If you enjoy the episode, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share it with your friends and colleagues who might benefit from this discussion. This week I am joined by 4 of the Top Instructors and Body Movement experts in the game. Keith Jarvis is a Lead Instructor at Golf Channel Academy. He can be found in the New York/New Jersey areas and on the V1 app. Keith breaks down Trackman data and helps us understand what smash factor is, what good spin rate numbers are off the driver, how to take a pivot after we strike the ball, and why you should tee the ball lower than what you've been told. Terry Hashimoto is the Founder of BodiTrak Golf and Golf Rehab.com. Terry explains why all good players have 80+% of their weight on the lead leg by the time they get to the top of their backswing. We also learn why golf is a great rehab game for those suffering from concussions, and which fundamentals are no longer relevant. Katherine Roberts is the Top Movement Skills person and Yoga Instructor in the world in my opinion. She's about to begin her 10th season working with the Chicago Cubs. She takes us through how she can help those of us suffering from some sort of injury get back in the game. We hear how ground reaction forces can help us generate more distance, and some stretches we can do to warm up before we go play. TP joins me and shares his thoughts on last week's PGA Merchandise Show, the time he spent working with Jackie Burke Jr., Rory's about-face on yet another LIV issue, and who he's picking to win the Super Bowl.

The program's philosophy rests on the rock-solid belief in our ability to change and evolve as we age. Jonathan learned this firsthand, after stubbornly suffering through three knee surgeries and repeatedly re-injuring himself, he decided to step back to take a good look at how the body works. Injury-free these many years later, he helps people deal with stubborn chronic pain issues, improve athletic performance, and learn how to age gracefully in a modern world where that is increasingly difficult. In this week's episode of Going Pro, Michael sits down with guest Katie Nesbitt to discuss all things yoga, present moment awareness, somatic work, and mindfulness. Katie describes her background shifting from childhood athlete to corporate worker in LA to yoga instructor and wellness consultant.  Katie dives into the elements of present awareness and shares techniques that have helped her on her own journey, as well as with her clients. Katie talks about the three pillars of mindfulness: being in the present moment, being in the present moment with intention, and the hardest of the three… non-judgement. She explains why we cannot and should not judge our mind for whatever emotions arise in the present moment. A place that is often very difficult as we are used to criticizing and judging ourselves, the practice of non-judgement, she says, is where the real work begins. Katie and Michael also dive into practical tools to help oneself when having a traumatic response. They go through the different stages of our response system and talk about the importance of really understanding what our triggers are so that we can support ourselves before, during or after our body enters a trauma response mode. She also ties this into the different parts of the brain and explains what's actually happening on a technical level. Katie emphasizes how the brain's primary purpose is to keep the body alive, which is why we can't judge ourselves for it. We don't have control. Our brain and body are building new neural pathways to create a sense of safety and relaxation that allows us to proceed with life. In this info-packed episode, Katie shares invaluable information on becoming aware of ourselves without judgment and shares tools including shaking and breath work that listeners can use in their day to day lives. Gymnazo started as a childhood dream. Growing up, Michael loved sports and strength training in high school, but was always curious about how to learn to fix injuries and help people get back to what they love. He moved to Fresno State to study Kinesiology. Desiring to live in a coastal community, he graduated college, packed up his room and moved to SLO weeks later. No house, no job, one friend and a strong vision. After standing in Kennedy Club Fitness handing out business cards to generate enough clients to convince the manager to hire him as a Personal Trainer, Michael started to carve out his reputation in San Luis Obispo (SLO). Knowing that Kinesiology and a basic personal training certification wasn't nearly enough education to deliver the best service, he started seeking graduate level education. Starting with just 18 athletes, Michael began to build a small group training program which he eventually named Gymnazo. In 2010, Gymnazo was starting to grow. He started to wear the many hats of an entrepreneur and needed some help. He met Paden and initially sought to hire her to help him run his brand strategy. But after three “business dates” they started actually dating and collaborating on Gymnazo. It worked so well the same year they got married, they incorporated and moved out of Kennedy Club Fitness. Eventually, she left Collaboration Business Consulting to work full time at Gymnazo. Her passion to market and grow businesses into sustainable models allows Michael to focus on innovating new services and building a team of highly skilled coaches. Today, Michael and Paden enjoy collaborating and each focus on different aspects of the business. Both owners share a deep belief that Gymnazo innovative methodology blended with a powerful customer experience advances the fitness industry to new heights. They are determined to bring this model to the masses. https://www.gymnazo.com/

Welcome back to 13 ways to make moving your body consistently EASY part 2, if you haven't yet listen to part 1 I highly recommend going back and listening to that episode either before or after this one.   Moving your body consistently can be hard — whether you're just not motivated or you don't have the energy, or life just feels way to busy. Whatever the reason may be, I have a BUNCH of ways to help you make it easier.   In part 1, I discussed:   Finding movement you love doing Creating a schedule. Treating your workouts like appointments or work meetings.  Having a plan. Setting yourself up for success. Having a back up plan   Okay let's dive in to part 2:   Don't overcommit   Be realistic about what you can actually do weekly and daily. Don't set an expectation for yourself to workout 6 days a week for 60 minutes if you haven't been working out at all.   Be open minded about movement.   Movement isn't just going to the gym, movement can mean ANYTHING and honoring your body with any kind of movement daily will change your relationship with fitness!   Find a way to hold yourself accountable.   Get an accountability buddy or a workout partner, or ask your significant other or your best friend to help hold you accountable.   Track your progress   Sometimes we can't see the changes in the mirror every single day and we think we aren't making any progress when if fact, we are making LOTS of progress. That's why I think it's so important to track your progress so you can see that your hard work is in fact paying off.   Track your consistency   See how many days and weeks you can go honoring your body with movement. You're going to become so motivated to not break your streak!   Set specific and actionable goals for yourself   It's also hard to stay consistent when you don't know what you're working towards. So figure out WHAT you are working towards EXACTLY.   Focus on the process not the results.   If you focus on the results ONLY you're going to struggle to see results.   Links mentioned in this episode:   sale.movementwithjulie.com Episode 267: 13 Ways to Make Moving Your Body Consistently EASY Part 1 Episode 256: 5 Ways To Monitor Your Progress Without The Scale   If you want more from me, be sure to check out: Instagram:  @embraceyourreal | @movementwithjulie Website: www.juliealedbetter.com Free ebook: www.juliealedbetter.com/free-ebook Amazon storefront: https://www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-6bda1ca8?ref=cm_sw_em_r_inf_pub_influencer-6bda1ca8_dp_DgsIam9salgfi

I have been counting my macros for almost a decade. And since I've stopped doing competitions and found a new normal with my body, my body size and shape haven't fluctuated all that much. But here's the thing: I have made nourishing my body a lifestyle and because of that my weight is not continuously going up and down. I don't have to “get back on track” the same way I know other woman need to. But, the difference is that many women are dieting and not making nourishment a lifestyle.   So many women ask me how I have the willpower to stay on track all the time. But here's the thing: I don't need willpower. Seriously, I don't need one ounce of willpower and in this episode I'm going to explain what I do to essentially “stay on track” without needing willpower through making nourishing your body a lifestyle.   What I discuss: I know what my body needs. There is no scarcity in my “diet” I “budget” my food. I know when to chose memories over macros and vice versa to keep my life balanced. I pay attention to how food makes me feel. I prioritize cooking delicious meals.  I honor my body with movement daily I focus on consistency over perfection.   Links mentioned in this episode:   Get my recipe guides: https://www.juliealedbetter.com/recipe-guides Macro Counting Made Simple Online Academy: www.macrocountingmadesimple.com   If you want more from me, be sure to check out…   Instagram:  @embraceyourreal | @movementwithjulie Website: www.juliealedbetter.com Free ebook: www.juliealedbetter.com/free-ebook Amazon storefront: https://www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-6bda1ca8?ref=cm_sw_em_r_inf_pub_influencer-6bda1ca8_dp_DgsIam9salgfi
