On Saturday, November 2, 2024 15-year-old Tripp Brazeale headed out of his house in Forrest City, Arkansas on a four-wheeler. After dark and into the early morning hours of Sunday November 3, Tripp, two family members, and a friend were hanging out in a part of the woods called Crow Creek, riding ATVs. Now it’s mostly illegal to ride four-wheelers on paved roads in Arkansas and in many other places, but out there in the country, it’s a common mode of transportation for teens. There were police officers nearby that night. Deputy Trey Bynum and Sgt. David Kinney from the St. Francis County Sheriff’s Office were responding to a call regarding with a missing girl and boy from Cross County. Deputy Bynum wrote in his report that while they were checking out a residence in the woods, they heard ATVs driving around erratically. When they finished up and got back into their vehicles, Sgt. Kinney went to go find them. He was the first one to make contact; he was talking to the people on one of the four-wheelers, basically telling everyone to slow down. As Deputy Bynum approached, he saw one of the four-wheelers slow down like he was about to stop but then, he said, take off and pass him at “a high rate of speed.” The driver of that ATV was Tripp Brazeale. At that point Deputy Bynum started his pursuit, trying to pull Tripp over. The high speed chase went on up a hill and back down a hill, and that’s when something happened...something that caused Tripp to abruptly stop and jump off his four wheeler at 12:42 AM and run into the woods. He didn't come back after Deputy Bynum called after him. He fled into the woods and kept running. And then, he disappeared. RADICAL OR NOT, HERE I COME: One Man's Search For Spiritual Affirmation And To Understand Radical Islam by E. Leroy NealI never set out to write a book. The book found me. Hearing a sermon based on Acts 9:1-19, the conversion of Saul on the road to Damascus was very unsettling. This was radical. It caused me to question my own conversion and to wonder, what do we mean when we use the term, “radical”? It led me to formulate six questions I needed answers to relative to my own faith and to understand “Radical Islam” in comparison. I decided to write a book as a means to answer these questions. The questions are:1. What are the similarities and differences between Islam and Christianity?2. What are the similarities and differences between the Qur'an and the Bible?3. Is Islam truly a religion of peace”? Is Christianity more militant and violent than commonly professed or admitted?4. Was my quiet, almost unnoticed, conversion as powerful as Saul's or other dramatic conversions?5. Why was I so unprepared to rationally discus these comparisons with my counterpart, a sincere Muslim?I used my personal life journey to accepting Christ as the vehicle to discuss these and other questions.Author Bio - Born July 22, 1941, in San Diego, CA. However, a good fitness program doesn't start in the weight room, or on any piece of cardio equipment. It starts with simple core exercises and stretches with no equipment needed that will put the “feel good” back into your fitness program. Whether your goal is to add muscle, lose weight, or get rid of your back pain, the foundation is the same. My mission is to help people achieve their fitness goals without having to "work" so hard. "No pain no gain" is DEAD!! You want your health and fitness to fit into your life, not the other way around. You can get fit WITHOUT being sore for five days. You can lose weight without starving yourself. This week I had the pleasure to talk with Kenny Henry, the head Cross County and Boys Track Coach at Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho. Kenny comes from a running and coaching background and has established himself as one of the top New Mexican coaches with multiple Cross Country and Track Championships. We talk about his own running and where he stands now. We also talk about the previous cross country and track seasons, as well as the recent third place finish for his boys and girls in cross country and what we can look forward to in this upcoming track season. It was great to hear his insight about his runners, how differently he looked at the boys' and girls' teams heading into cross country and how it turned out for both of them. His love of the sport and for his athletes is something I really enjoyed hearing. We talked about recruiting kids into distance running; it's not as easy as it looks. And how the most important person on the team isn't always the top runners. I really enjoyed this conversation with a fellow coach and I hope you do too. It was great to touch base with Coach Henry as we enter the track season. It's such a fun time for kids and we get to see so many different disciplines. If you can make it out to meets to support our young athletes, I would highly recommend it. I hope you enjoyed some of the warm weather and that your training is going well. Stay safe, stay hydrated, and keep running, New Mexico.

Those are the kinds of stories I'm trying to collect in this podcast. One example is my friend Amy Jacobson. She is a fellow life-long Cubs fan who really wanted to see the team play in the 20-16 playoffs, despite the fact that she would need to travel across the country at the drop of a hat to do so. You could also take a look at my friend Liz Biddle. She suddenly found herself at the Hollywood premiere of Avengers End Game thanks to some clever guesswork by her husband and some intervention from Ryan Reynolds.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-greatest-story-ever-podcast6760/donations

We have a lot of ground to cover today. If you live in northwest Baltimore City, if you live in central and east Baltimore, we’re bringing you the candidates for City Council from your part of town. In this podcast:District 5 is northwest Baltimore -- that is, Pimlico, Howard Park, North Roland Park, Fallstaff, Cross County. Rochelle "Rikki" Spector has been the City Council member for that district since the 1970s. She’s retiring. A woman named Elizabeth Ryan Martinez and two men, Isaac “Yitzy” Schleifer and Christopher Ervin, are hoping to replace her. There are other Democratic candidates in the District 5 primary, but they didn’t RSVP Roughly Speaking.2:08: Elizabeth Ryan Martinez is an attorney who works in the Baltimore City law department.17:18: Isaac "Yitzy" Schleifer is a young entrepreneur and community association leader.36:37: Christopher Ervin is a 47-year-old former Marine who served time in prison on drug charges. Since his incarceration ended, he has worked in offender rights and restorative justice. We had a much better response from candidates for the 12th District. That’s in central/east Baltimore, including neighborhoods such as Station North, Collington Square, Old Goucher, Greenmount West, Middle East and Oliver. Veteran City Councilman Carl Stokes decided to run for mayor this year, leaving his council seat up for grabs. Today, we’ll have Gary Crum, Kelly Cross, Gordon Stick -- whose slogan is "Stick with Stick Because Stick Will Stick With You" -- as well as Ertha Harris, Rashad Staton and Jason Pyeron.51:30: Kelly Cross is a legal consultant who moved to Baltimore from Washington six years ago and became active in the Old Goucher neighborhood.1:15:09: Gary Crum is from East Baltimore’s Oliver neighborhood and works as a property manager.1:28:30: Ertha Harris is a businesswoman and entrepreneur who has been politically active in the 12th District for years.1:40:44: Gordon Stick is a Bolton Hill native and gemologist whose campaign is based on the concept of incentives -- providing rewards for student achievement and good citizenship.1:51:41: Jason Pyeron is a software contractor who lives on 24th Street, between Old Goucher and Charles Village; he’s a civic activist who decided to run for City Council because he found all other candidates too accepting of the status quo.2:10:00: Rashad Staton is a young educator and entrepreneur who lives in Perkins Homes.Next episode: Our series of interviews with candidates ends on Friday with five of the 7th District candidates.
