Happy Birthday to us! To celebrate, get strapped and iamb your pentameter as we revel in Baz Luhrmann's deliciously over-the-top Romeo + Juliet (1996), one of the first episodes we ever recorded—and producer Randall's personal white whale. Did this soundtrack ever leave your Discman? Are we the biggest Shakespeare dorks who ever lived? Is Harold Perrineau's Mercutio pure sex in platform heels? (No question he carries this film.) Or is John Leguizamo's Tybalt the true snack? Don't get us wrong, Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes are adorable portraying young love, but we could do with less screaming. Now please excuse us as we listen to The Cardigans on loop. Read Randall's full episode notes at yourenofun.com.And follow us on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter.
This week we watched Dead Sexy. We talk about what this ghost is doing exactly, we want a ghost that cleans and makes coffee, strange wall art, and the twist ending! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/matt-mike-john-bubba/support
There is a constant pressure of being valued for the way that we look. There is a constant barrage of expectations for keeping your body a certain way. And yet we have so much to give beyond the way that we look. That's why I want to share with you my conversation with Elena Davies, who was always the “bad girl” growing up in Texas, then became a radio personality, reality TV star (you may remember her from Big Brother), and now hosts her own podcast. After feeling like her only value was in her looks... Now, Elena believes that the hottest girl in every room is the one that is the most confident.
Following on from Episode 11, we look at how the symptoms of tuberculosis became the gold standard for Victorian beauty, then we jump to Gilded Age New York for some skin care tips from “The Ugly Girl Papers.”
This week, Matt, Rio, and Reuben are joined by connoisseur of f**ked-up films, Alison Taylor, to discuss Georges Bataille's seminal (or perhaps that should be "urinal"?) pornographic opus, Story of the Eye, as well as Jörg Buttgereit's cinematic ode to necrophilia, Nekromantik.

About: Multimedia artist Korey Luna began performing music in 1999, with Midnightmare. Quickly he transitioned from Bass Guitar, Electric Guitar, and Keyboards. He spent a year with Dead Sexy, and eventually was enlisted into Red Youth, where he met long time collaborator Lenny Hamaker. Being a life-long congenital heart disease patient, Korey had a fourth open-heart surgery, which atrophied his strength. Premeditatedly, he began a journey into Modular Eurorack synthesizers. During recovery he and Lenny formed the duo “Imitation Growth”. Their premier public performance was April 1st 2018 for Resonant Frequencies in Oakland, CA. In 2019 Korey partnered with Rich Hogben to create a new live show called “Piqued” which features two Electronic music artists per month, before a live audience, with a Q&A session. This show has continued as a virtual event. From spirits to hand sanitizer. The world has changed since our last episode just two weeks ago. Today, we’re going to talk about how a couple of local New Orleans businesses are working to help the city respond to the COVID19 pandemic. Join me as I talk with Sal Bivalacqua of Seven Three Distilling and Jess Bourgeois of Lula Restaurant Distillery. These two business owners essentially used their expertise to create a new business in four days, shifting from the manufacture of spirits for drinking to the production of hand sanitizer. We talk alcohol, hand sanitizer, Bourbon and more in this episode of the Beyond Bourbon Street podcast. Resources Check out Seven Three Distilling Company, then be sure to visit when you can. Their website talks about their company name, product offerings, and tour. We'll be doing a Beyond Bourbon Street event there once life returns to normal. Lula Restaurant-Distillery is a unique place to enjoy excellent cuisine with views of a working distillery. We will work with Jess at Lula to host a Beyond Bourbon Street event in the future. Both Lula and Seven Three are currently open for to go purchases. If you are in New Orleans, consider placing an order and supporting them. Here are several articles discussing New Orleans neighborhoods. This is probably worth doing an entire episode about in the future! The Up For Debate Podcast discusses the best possible replacements for Willie Taggart at Florida State along with what is going on with Dan Mullen's wife. We talk about what the Georgia win over Florida means to the SEC and give our new top 6. Next week's biggest NFL and CFB games are discussed and predicted as well as who we believe is the best team in the NFL. The podcast goes over what the win for the Ravens means for the playoffs and the future in New England, along with why Minshew Mania is very dead. We finish off the show giving our sexy spreads and underdogs of the week on the weekly betting segment. All of this and more can be heard on this episode of Up For Debate.
While Nate is continuing his booze break we decided to do another episode of interesting news and funny stories. Look out for next weeks episode when we will have our first guest! And a potential long awaited return of a (maybe) drunk team while we cover the notorious grain alcohol, Everclear.
Episode 49: Chivalry - is it dead? sexy? or just dead sexy? by Pint Glass Preachers
This BONUS mini-episode is for anyone who's going through an EPIC fail right now in life. (umm, I think that's ALL of us, at some point, eh?) Running short on time? These mini Thought of the Day episodes are where I tackle big thoughts in simple, short spurts to spin you in the right direction. (try saying that 5 times fast) ——— Today's SUPER Thought of the Day is this… How do you bounce back when you have an EPIC fail in life? It's NOT about what happens to you in life. It's ALL ABOUT how to react to it. Are you going to give it the power to control you? To dictate your next 5 or 10 steps in this tango we call life? When you zoom out and look at the big picture of what's going on, the TANGO is DEAD SEXY on you! Just keep taking the next step and the next one after that. Over and over again. Don't give up. If you're still suffering with the butt-hurt of epically and gloriously failing in your business or in your life, here are 3 simple things I do to help myself bounce back: • Give it 48 hours. - Give yourself the permission to mourn the loss or feel angry or embarrassed. Feel it fully. Binge on Netflix and La Croix… stay in your PJs and be present in your heavy, heavy feelings. Acknowledge these feelings, journal them out, but most importantly, get it out…but only for 48 hours. • Phone a friend - Once you realize you're getting into a funk, immediately text your very best girlfriend and tell her what's going on. And the pact is that she will ping you here and there in the first 48 hours… but more importantly, she promises to connect with you once the 48 hours has finished to pull you out of the muck and whip you back into shape. Because sometimes, you just need that friend who's going to pull you up by your bootstraps when you don't have the strength to do it yourself. • Choose wisely. - So now that your 48 hours has passed, it's time for you to take a hot shower and like Rachel Hollis says, “GIRL, wash your face.” It's time to start anew. You now have a choice… Are you going to let this thing have power over you…or NOT? Choose wisely because it's all up to you. While it may still hurt your heart, your mind, your body, your soul right now… hear my words, friends: You can do this, I totally believe in you. This moment does not define you. This thing has no power over you. LOOK HERE: You have a 100% survival rate of EVERYTHING that's happened to you so far in life. You will survive this too. It just requires you to believe it, as well. Just take the next step that's been divinely lit for you. And the next one after that. I see you. Even here, even now… you're doing the thing.
