Picture this: a quiet night in Bethlehem, a humble manger, and the miraculous birth of Jesus, a tale told for centuries. Join me as we pause our journey through 2 Corinthians to revisit the Christmas story's profound beauty. This special episode invites you to reflect on the timeless narratives from Luke 2 and Matthew 2, where shepherds receive the angelic announcement of Christ's birth, and Wise Men embark on a determined quest to worship the newborn King, despite King Herod's ominous intentions. With a nod to the cherished Charlie Brown Christmas special, we cherish the traditional King James Version's phrasing, allowing these stories to echo with their original resonance. As we celebrate this season of hope, let's channel the spirit of unity and gratitude inspired by President Harry S. Truman's 1948 Christmas address. Truman's words remind us of the strength found in family and community amid trying times. In a world often striving to separate faith from daily life, we explore how the enduring promise of eternal life with Christ can anchor us in peace and joy. This episode is a heartfelt prayer for nations, families, and marriages, extending our wishes of blessings and Merry Christmas to all, with a hope to reconnect soon and continue spreading goodwill.Support the showThe American Soul Podcasthttps://www.buzzsprout.com/1791934/subscribe

We have been given ETERNAL LIFE in Christ! What great news! Let's be nourished on this word today.yourdailymeds.org@yourdailymedspodcast
Morning Worship Sermon with Rev. Bud Hance Scripture reference 1 John 5:13 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.. This last paragraph of John's letter is what we would call a postscript or addition. The letter ends with a statement of the very essence of the Christian life. The essence of the Christian life is eternal life. What is eternal life, and what are its gifts and characteristics? The Greek word for eternal *(aionios; Pron. ahee-o'-nee-os) means more than simply lasting forever. A life which lasts for ever might well be a curse rather than a gift. There is only one person to whom the word eternal *(aionios; Pron. ahee-o'-nee-os) may properly be applied, and that one person is God. In the real sense of the word it is God alone who possesses and who inhabits eternity. So then, eternal life is nothing other than the life of God Himself. What we are promised is that here and now we can be given a share in the very life of God. Someone say, “All praise be to God”! We live in a world, where everyone longs for, and is in need of peace. Real peace! It can be found. In God there is peace, and therefore, eternal life means serenity (peace of mind, composure, calmness, patience). Eternal life means real peace! We live in a world filled with fear. Eternal life means a life liberated from the fears which haunt the human situation. “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me.” (Psalm 23:4) He Himself is our peace (Eph. 2:14). God's peace is not just a sense of well-being, but well-being itself, given to the believer from God himself. God's peace is “the peace that surpasses all understanding [which] will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:6). Eternal life is knowing God's peace. We live in a world where there is an insatiable desire for power. But the power sought by the world (unbelievers) is selfish, and demonic. God is all-power! “Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all.” (1 Chron. 29:11) Eternal life in Christ means a life filled with the power which is the power of God, a life victorious over sin, and over circumstance. In God there is holiness, and therefore, eternal life means the defeat of sin. Eternal life means a life clothed and covered with the purity which is the purity of God. A life armed with a sure defense against the soiling, corrupting infections of the world. In God there is love. Eternal life means the end of bitterness and hatred. It means a life which has the love of God in its heart. In God there is life. Eternal life means the ultimate defeat of death. It means a life which is indestructible, because it has in it the indestructible life of God Himself. Eternal life comes through Jesus Christ and in no other way. We can only possess eternal life when we know God, and when we are enabled to approach God, and to rest in Him. We can only do these two things in Jesus Christ. Why? Because the Son alone fully knows the Father, and therefore, only Jesus Christ can fully reveal to us what God is like. God's Word clearly states this: John 1:18 18 No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. Jesus Christ alone can bring us into the presence of God. It is in Jesus that there is open to us the new and living way into the presence of God. Hebrews 10:19-23 19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. ILLUSTRATION: If we wish to meet someone whom we do not know, and who moves in a completely different circle from the circle in which we ourselves move, we can only achieve that meeting by finding someone who knows that person, and who is willing to introduce us to him/her. That is what Jesus does for us in regard to God. Eternal life is the life of God; and we can only find that life through Jesus Christ. It is important that a believer have real assurance of eternal life, and our text indicates that this was John's very purpose in writing his epistle. It is dangerous, however, to use this verse as a “proof text” apart from the whole context of “these things” that John had written to give such assurance, because the question must be faced as to what constitutes real belief “on the name of the Son of God.” For it is only real belief “on the name of the Son of God” that will save us unto eternal life. Many professing Christians may well have a superficial assurance of salvation because of a superficial (outward, shallow, quick-fix) faith. According to the apostle John, genuine belief in the Son of God can be tested by “these things” that he had written. So what are “these things” that John writes about that will are the evidence of eternal life? There are actually many things. But let's consider the following today. 1 John 2:5 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. John has clearly made the link between our obedience and our love for God here. A perfected love for God will show itself in obedience, and the presence of this obedience and love gives us assurance that we are in Jesus and gives the assurance of eternal life. To “keep” God's Word means to guard from loss, keep your eye upon to prevent escaping. It means to detain, to keep in our custody, to maintain, hold fast, keep, serve, and watch. In keeping God's Word, His love will be perfected in us. This term “perfected” means complete, accomplish, consummate (in character): consecrate, finish, fulfill. This indeed is assurance of eternal life. When a person becomes a Christian, there is a change in their relationship with sin. A Christian no longer loves sin as he once did. A Christian no longer brags about their sin as he once did. A Christian no longer plans to sin as he once did. A Christian no longer fondly remembers his sin as he once did. A Christian never fully enjoys his sin as he once did. A Christian no longer is comfortable in habitual sin as he once was. Next, John speaks to personal righteousness as evidence of eternal life. 1 John 2:29 29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him. Here “righteous” means equitable in character or act. It clearly implies innocence, holiness and that which is just and right. Abiding in Jesus means that we will practice righteousness in our lives, because we are born of Him. Being born again has changed our lives from a disposition to sin to a disposition to righteousness. This is evidence of eternal life. This is a test of our abiding in Him, the same kind of test John mentions in 1 John 1:6; 1 John 2:4; 1 John 2:9. There is something wrong if someone claims to be born of Him and they do not practice righteousness. When someone is born of someone else, there is a family resemblance. We say, “look, she has her mother's eyes” or “he has his father's nose.” Well, the children of God have a family resemblance to their Father in heaven. And we should be able to say, “Look, he/she practices righteousness like their Father.” One theologian put it this way: “God has no children destitute of His image, or who resemble Him not.” (Poole) We can practice righteousness right now, as we are born of Him. This is evidence of eternal life. Next, John says that our love for one another is evidence of eternal life. 1 John 3:14 14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. To understand the Biblical idea of love, we should begin by understanding the vocabulary of love among the ancient Greeks, who gave us the original language of the New Testament. Eros was one word for love. It described, as we might guess from the word itself, erotic love. Storge was the second word for love. It referred to family love. Philia/Phileo is the third word for love. It spoke of a brotherly friendship and affection. Agape is the fourth Greek word for love. And this is the term John uses in verse 14. It described a love that loves without changing. It is a self-giving love that gives without demanding or expecting re-payment. It gives because it loves, it does not love in order to receive. Many people confuse the four loves, and end up extremely hurt as a result. Scripture clearly informs us that loving (agape) others is practical (lived out) demonstration of loving God (1 John 3:10,17; 1 John 4:20-21). “We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren”. (1 John 3:14) This is infallible evidence of eternal life if we love the followers of Christ as such. John says, in carrying out this agape love, that Christians, by this test, may know “among themselves” whether they have salvation and eternal life. Jesus said, John 13:34-35 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” Agape love for one another is evidence of eternal life. Next, John writes that we have evidence of eternal life by the Holy Spirit whom God has given us. 1 John 3:24 24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. Jesus promised in John 14:23 that He would come and make His home with His people. The Holy Spirit is proof that he does this and is evidence of eternal life. We can be certain that the Spirit of God is with us from the “fruits” of the Spirit which He produces in the lives of men and women. (Gal. 5:22-23). The Fruit of the Spirit is evidence of eternal life. And finally, Conclusion: John gives evidence of eternal life being present when he writes: 1 John 5:18 18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. This does not mean that we “cannot” sin. But it does mean that we cease to be a willful, and habitual sinner. This is evidence of eternal life. We read in Hebrews 10: Hebrews 10:26 26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, Hebrews 6:4-8 4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame 7 For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God; 8 but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned. Invitation: Knowledge of Jesus, participation in the Spirit, and foretastes of eternity merit (deserve) absolute loyalty and commitment on our part. We are clearly warned in Scripture, as we just read, against taking this obligation lightly, and against jeopardizing our relationship with God for the sake of temporary advantages in the world. Those who would insult God by denying Jesus with their lips or lifestyle can never presume that another opportunity to repent will be granted. For those who now walk in grace, having eternal life, it is far better to maintain that walk and that relationship with Christ, whatever the cost in terms of friendship with the world. Christians who are comfortable in a nominal profession of faith, with little outward evidence of that faith, would do well to examine their faith in light of John's “tests of faith,” whereby we may “know that [we] have eternal life.” QUESTION: Do pass the the test today? Do you know, that you know that you have eternal life? Is your faith more than a mere nominal profession? If you struggle, or simply cannot answer yes to these questions today, I invite you to come to an altar of prayer, and to place your faith, and full belief in Jesus Christ. With heads bowed, and eyes closed….

This Writing was donated by Alfred Corduan Title: Human Destiny by Sir Robert Anderson Most articles by this author were gleaned from Plymouth Brethren Writings. Here is a clip from the forward by Alfred Corduan “Universalism” - the teaching that God guarantees heaven for everyone – has been promoted to one degree or another for millennia. For my part, I have summarily dismissed it my entire life as the wishful thinking of guilty people, failing the simplest of Biblical tests. In the last few years, I have suddenly had to deal with it up close and personal when several dear fellow believers came forward as having embraced it. Then, in the last year, a well-known “megachurch” pastor – Rob Bell – came out as a Universalist, writing a book called “Love Wins,” which catapulted him into the national spotlight. For me, something previously ignored has roared to the forefront as one of the most dangerous spiritual errors I have ever encountered. A Bible-based position that does away with the unspeakable horror of hell would capture the attention of any believer who has any feelings whatsoever for lost relatives and friends. Yet this hopeful friendliness covers the most insidious of poisons, one that, in its end, strips the fear of God out of the heart and the Savior and His unimaginable death on Calvary of eternal meaning. This is the oldest of lies - the Devil again calls out to the troubled heart of man as he did to Eve: “Ye shall not surely die.” Once the bait is taken, he has us and will destroy us.
Jerry, Josh, and Grant finish Romans 6 discussing how sin never satisfies and yet we have been rescued from our past self and been united with Christ.

Rev. Dustin Beck, pastor at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda, TX, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Acts 13:42-14:7. The people respond to Paul's sermon at the synagogue in Pisidian Antioch by begging him to return and speak again. However, when almost the entire city came the following week, the Jews were filled with jealousy and began to contradict Paul and Barnabas. The apostles' response was direct; the Jews had judged themselves unworthy of eternal life, so Paul and Barnabas would go to the Gentiles, as the Scripture had said. The Gentiles heard this with joy, for the Lord was at work through His Word to bring sinners to eternal life. Jewish persecution sent Paul and Barnabas on to Iconium, where the response to their preaching was again divided. They remained there for some time, until an attempt to stone them sent them on to Lystra and Derbe. “To the End of the Earth” is a mini-series on Sharper Iron that goes through the book of Acts. In his second volume, St. Luke records all the things that Jesus continued to do through the ministry of His Church. By the end of the book, the proclamation of the Lord's Word that began in Jerusalem grows all the way to Rome. By God's grace, even now, that same Word is proclaimed to us.
Rev. Kevin Parviz, pastor of Congregation Chai v'Shalom in St. Louis, MO joins Rev. Brady Finnern to study I John 1:1-4. John preaches to the saints who were struggling in faith. This epistle is for us as we struggle in faith. From the beginning, Christ was the word of life that would be the one to unite us with the Triune God. We can knit-pick many details, but it comes down to the Truth of Christ's life giving blood for you. This fellowship with the LORD extends to the joy we have with one another as the body of Christ. He has brought us together in joy for our joy is complete in Christ. “Lord Jesus Christ, as You are the vine and we are the branches, keep us connected to You and fill us with the joy that only comes through Your joy of saving us. Send Your Holy Spirit that others may believe in Your forgiveness and that our joy may be complete. In Your name, Amen”

In this episode of the Open Hearts Podcast Erin and Brooke discuss 2nd Timothy 1:1-2 in detail. They look at how Paul addresses Timothy as both a friend and apostle and what true biblical friendship should look like in our lives as women. They talk about how to stand for Christ unashamed in this time with the persecutions that face our world both abroad and in the local church. Erin and Brooke break down verse 1 on what is the will of God and the promise of eternal life in Christ Jesus and what that looks like for us as believers in Christ. They cover the danger of young women who “teach” on social media as bible teachers and end with verse two talking about the definition of grace, mercy, and peace and how to apply this in our life.Follow Erin on social media here: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/erincoates80/Women's Ministry: https://www.instagram.com/womenofgrace_glc/Find Brooke's book, or follow her on social media here:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/justbrookebartz/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/526836121526587Chronic Love: https://www.amazon.com/Chronic-Love-Trusting-Suffering-Illness/dp/1620209241Open Hearts is so thankful for our graphic designer! The Prism: "NI, Covid Passports and the Free Offer of the Gospel.Joining other countries around the globe, Northern Ireland is to have Covid Passports. On Thursday a high ranking medical official publicly called for this measure to be extended to churches. How will the churches respond? Is there a Biblical issue here? In this podcast, Bob McEvoy will note that* Covid passes segregate society into two classes, the vaccinated and the unvaccinated - right a time when we need LESS division, not more,* The government does not have the right to place you in the position that you MUST have medical intervention in order to enjoy a normal life. Your responsibility for bodily integrity is a matter between you, and the God who created you and redeemed your body, and who by his Holy Spirit, indwells the believer. We are to GLORIFY God in our bodies.* Covid Passes are - statistically, pointless. We have empirical evidence from other countries. And to refuse entry to a church, on the basis of their 'vaccination status' and thus prevent them from hearing the Gospel of Eternal Life in Christ is something that must bring the churches into direct conflict with the authorities... We are continuing our series of reflections on the Psalms. Each day we will upload a new reflection to the website. We hope and pray that you will find them helpful and that they bring hope during this season. Click on these buttons to read the text of the psalm or listen to a recording of it. You can also listen to the reflection using the audio player below. Read Psalm 49 Listen to Psalm 49 This psalm was possibly written by one of the sons of Korah, who was thought to be a rich powerful man. The son is believed to be the chief musician. The psalm addresses the age-old question of prosperity and wealth, and was intended for all men, ‘Listen, everyone, listen earth dwellers, don't miss this' (MSG). But, how can we apply it to our lives now in the 21st century? How can we take this and live as God would desire us? The psalm reminds us to neither trust in our riches nor to judge others by their poverty or wealth. This is a continuing problem whatever the century. Our culture values those who have wealth, and who demonstrate it, we often see wealth as a form of power. We live in a society where we put our trust in money. During this time of COVID-19 it has made many people evaluate and reflect on where our priorities lie. However if we return to a more social society after COVID-19 will we continue questing for wealth and the status it brings over our relationship with God? The psalm is a testimony of the writer's faith in God. In the Living Bible verse 5 says, ‘God will redeem my soul from the power of death, for he will receive me', it encouraged us, ‘so don't be dismayed when evil men grow rich'. Eternal life in Christ has riches abound. Yes, we need to pay bills, and live in this world, however, Colossians 3:23 reminds us to centre our work on the Lord. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord. Philippians 4:19 says “my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Trusting God in our financial circumstances, whether we are struggling or comfortable financially, is the true key. The psalm helps us focus on our financial priorities in a blunt and straightforward manor reminding us not to value others by their riches, prompting us that ultimately whether rich or poor we will die, our wealth will be left to others. We have hope as Christians that God will give us eternal life through Jesus's ultimate sacrifice for us. Thank you, Lord, for the riches and blessings you have given us. We pray for wisdom especially in our financial management, putting your will over ours. We pray for those who don't know you and value prosperity over relationship with you. Keep reminding us how to prioritise your will over our materialistic desires.

Pastor Mike continues the series in Romans, preaching on Eternal Life in Christ.
FROM THE BOOK: THE SOLE BALM Warning, No Lines Painted As I was driving home to Phoenix this past weekend late at night, a flashing road sign alerted me that road construction was ahead and that no lines were painted on the road. The yellow and white lines on the road are important because they tell us the lanes that we are in on the highway, set the boundaries, and tell us when we can pass. It was interesting and at times scary to be traveling down a highway late at night with no boundaries and no guidance. It made me realize how important those lines and boundaries are for protection and for safety for myself and others. I had taken those lines for granted. I thought about the lines and boundaries (laws, regulations, orders, ethics) that are the boundaries, the painted lines that govern our lives. The purpose of those lines is to protect me and to protect others. Without those lines in my life, my life would be without order; rather, it would be chaos. Proverbs 2:6-8 states, “For the Lord gives wisdom and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.” We need to ensure that our lines are based on God's wisdom, because that will create balance in our lives and guide us in the direction that God wants us to go. Without that guidance and balance, we will get off of the road that we should be on and lose our way. Let us remember to look to the true source of guidance to make sure that we are walking within the right lines. Blessings to all, Chaplain Krupnik
