Ρατσισμός, το μεταναστευτικό και τα παιδιά μας / Ο Etinosa Erevbenagie Johnbull είναι ένας από τους ιδρυτές του ΜΚΟ Generation for Change, ενός οργανισμού που κάνει απίστευτη δουλειά για την ενσωμάτωση ευάλωτων ομάδων στην κοινωνία. Ο Eti ήρθε στο στούντιο για να μιλήσουμε για το σημαντικό αυτό έργο αλλά και για τις διακρίσεις και τον ρατσισμό, και πιο συγκεκριμένα για το πως μεγαλώνουμε παιδιά που να έχουν επίγνωση για το θέμα και πως μπορούμε να τους ενδυναμώσουμε έτσι ώστε να γίνουν αντιρατσιστές. Συζητούμε το μεταναστευτικό, τις πολύ λανθασμένες απόψεις που έχουν κάποιοι και την ανάγκη που υπάρχει να αλλάξει το αφήγημα γύρω από το θέμα αυτό για χάρη των παιδιών μας. Μια συζήτηση της Άννας Κουκκίδη-Προκοπίου με τους Etinosa Erevbenagie και Mazlum Aksu για τη ζωή των μεταναστών στη χώρα μας. Ενώ η Κουρδική καταγωγής οικογένεια του Mazlum φυλακίστηκε στην Τουρκία για πολιτικούς λόγους, ο Νιγηριανής καταγωγής Eti εξηγεί γιατί και η φτώχεια, για όσους τη βιώνουν, μπορεί να αποδειχτεί μια φυλακή χωρίς ευκαιρίες, από την οποία προσπαθεί κάποιος, επίσης, να αποδράσει. Μιλώντας για το πως κατέληξαν να ζουν στην Κύπρο, οι δύο νέοι συζητούν για τις θετικές εμπειρίες που αποκόμισαν αλλά και τον ρατσισμό που βίωσαν στην χώρα μας. Τελικά το να είσαι φτωχός και ξένος σε μετατρέπει σε δεύτερης κατηγορία πολίτη; Γιατί οι ξένοι θεωρούνται από πολλούς ως βάρος για την κοινωνία που τους φιλοξενεί; Πόσο επικρατούν τα αρνητικά και τα θετικά στερεότυπα όταν κατηγοριοποιούμε τους οικονομικούς μετανάστες ή τους πολιτικούς πρόσφυγες στη χώρα μας; Μπορούν να αλλάξουν καθόλου τα πράγματα και πως;

Like most Black people in America, our hearts are filled sorrow. We have been met with this painful yet unfamiliar feeling once again. Within the past few months, we have lost so many black sisters and brother to police brutality. Protestors have taken to the streets to seek justice for our innocent loved ones. As two Black women, it was imperative for us to use our platform to speak up and express our exhaustion. We are tired of our blackness being used as a justification for murder. We are tired of being viewed as unequal simply because of who we are. We are tired of our sisters and brothers being robbed of their futures because of this unjust, white supremacist system. In this podcast, we will be discussing our frustrations with the racist systems that were created without us in mind. We wish that we could list every black life lost in this episode, but we unfortunately ran out of time. We wanted to make sure that we mentioned a few more names: Sean Reed: An innocent young man who was shot and killed by police in Indianapolis, Indiana. Tina Ezekwe: An innocent 16 year old girl who was shot and killed by police in Lagos, Nigeria. Uwa Omozuwa: An innocent 22 year old woman who was raped and murdered in Benin City, Nigeria. Davis McAtee: An innocent man who was killed by the Kentucky National Guard. There are so many more names to list, which saddens us to even say. We want justice for you all and we are fighting for you. Our deepest condolences, Etinosa & Charlene
