Today, I'm going to share some of the not-so-common reasons why you might be struggling to lose weight. Insulin is at the heart of a slow metabolism. Insulin is triggered by sugar and other foods that act as sugar in the body. Ultra-processed foods like chips and Cheez-Its have 0 sugars but contain carbs with very little fiber. They also contain starches—strings of sugars connected together. Starches act like sugar in the body, but worse! They are higher on the glycemic index, so they cause a higher blood sugar spike than sugar. Seed oils can also cause problems with insulin, affecting weight loss. Stress and lack of sleep can also affect weight loss. So, how do you fix an insulin problem? •Reduce sugar and starch consumption •Stop snacking •Exercise •Get more sleep It takes 24-48 hours to get into ketosis. If you have a glass of wine one night and then just one piece of bread the next, you are not going to be in ketosis. Sometimes, your eating plan is working, and you just don't know it yet. If your hunger is gone and your energy levels are high, your diet is working; you just need to give it more time. Overtraining, poor sleep quality, and certain medications can also interfere with weight loss. The following natural solutions can help reduce insulin and boost weight loss: •Berberine •Apple cider vinegar (ACV)–1 tablespoon in a glass of water •Vitamin D–10,000 IU or a half hour of sunlight daily •Healthy Keto diet with intermittent fasting Once you've adjusted to 16-hour fasting and an 8-hour eating window, try switching to an 18-hour fasting window with a 6-hour eating window. You can even work up to 23 hours of fasting with a 1-hour eating window to boost weight loss. Dry fasting can also speed up weight loss. Don't eat or drink anything from sunrise to sunset for 12 hours of dry fasting. In this podcast, I'm going to share some tips to help you look younger instantly! Many people try to look younger by working from the outside in, but the best way to look younger is to work from the inside out. A proper diet is essential for a youthful appearance. Advanced glycation end products are a combination of sugar and protein. As these compounds accumulate in the body, they can make you appear older. AGEs can also lead to chronic inflammation and chronic disease. Advanced glycation end products can be found in foods like ribs, meatloaf, and junk foods. Sugar consumption can also create these compounds inside of your body. Similarly, advanced lipoxidation end products are the result of fat bound to glucose or sugar. If you want to look younger, avoid AGEs and ALEs. These compounds can cause oxidation in the body. Too much oxidation and not enough antioxidants lead to oxidative stress. To increase antioxidants, try the following: •Consume animals that are grass-fed •Consume cruciferous vegetables •Start fasting •Exercise •Get plenty of sleep Autophagy is a state in which your body starts recycling old, damaged cells. Autophagy can help you look younger! Frequent eating, high sugar consumption, high grain consumption, and the consumption of ultra-processed foods all stop autophagy. Ultra-processed foods are foods that are altered or modified in an extreme way. The more of these foods that you eat, the older and unhealthier you will look. A healthy liver and adequate bile are essential for youthfulness. Bile is necessary to extract fat-soluble vitamins from your food. Consume healthy, stable saturated fats and avoid highly inflammatory seed oils like soy, cottonseed, canola, safflower, and sunflower oils. Cholesterol plays an important role in making hormones and cell membranes. If you want to look younger, consume plenty of omega-3 fatty acids. Healthy amounts of sunlight can also help you look younger and healthier.
Happiness goes by many names for each of us. Some call things, possessions, happiness. Some call happiness travel and adventure happiness. Some find happiness in stillness and being in a state of peace. Whatever you call happiness, there's always room to increase your happiness, especially when it comes to the small habits you do each day that may impact your overall happiness. If you receive the Get Your Life Together, Girl newsletter each Tuesday morning, you may have seen today's mindset reset as the tool of the week! Today, we're taking it a bit further and expanding upon it. It seems fitting to talk about how our habits run against our happiness because I've received many questions about genuine happiness and how to be happier in the last few weeks. So, that's what you're diving into in today's mindset reset. Now, let's start with a quick assessment. Where do you fall on the happiness scale? From one to 10, one being not happy at all, life is hard, things are far too heavy, and ten being you are at your happiest, where would you fall? Allow yourself to answer honestly and without judgment. No one is judging you—so just be honest. You should probably always know that when people sit with me, and I ask that question, most people's answers fall between a 5 and 7. That's the average ranking of happiness. Now, a five is considered neutral. You aren't necessarily unhappy, but you aren't super happy. A 7 is pretty great—there's a baseline level of happiness and room for improvement. That's precisely our focus today—the room for improvement! So, let's break down how to stop acting from unhelpful habits, and then I want to give you actual practices that build happiness. We can put in place healthy habits that serve us and help us be present and aware. Step 1: PRACTICE NOTICING! What is noticing? It is focus. When we practice noticing, we focus on how we feel, what we think, our reactions and responses, and what causes us to act. Great focuses when practicing noticing come down to asking yourself questions: What triggers me? How am I acting and showing up in my life? How do I feel daily? Where am I feeling these things, and who am I with when I do? What thoughts are centered in my life right now? Step 2: Stop & Access When we stop, we don't immediately react. When we slow down, we realize how much our response has a massive impact on our happiness. When we stop and access, we can slow our thought process. How do we do so? We can stop and be silent. We can go to paper and pen and write out our thoughts. Remember, we can't change what we don't witness. Step 3: Reassess and Respond Ask yourself: What do I want to happen from here? What's my intention, and how can I deliberately create new action? How can I choose a new response? So, in the beginning, I spoke about habits that build happiness. A few are: Exercise Get plenty of sleep Practice gratitude Deep breathing Acknowledge the unhappy moments Keep a journal Face stress head-on Avoid comparing yourself to others Declutter each week See friends and family. Remember we are social community-based beings. We need one another. Plan your week Ditch your phone – seriously unplug when needed Get into nature Meditate —many meditations here sprinkled through the podcast episodes, or you can join me on Insight Timer for meditations. Welcome to another Q&A show! If you've ever wondered how much water is too much water, we're talking about it in this show, along with a few other topics, like what I think about the Kataylst EMS suit and innovations in exercise, if eating more food can actually help you get leaner, and more! TIMESTAMPS: Walking and running are two entirely forms of locomotion. [00:49] You always want to keep a straight and elongated spine for all your activities. [03:01] Mike Catlin talks about how listening to Mike Mutzel, he was able to change his point of view about fasting. What we need are more nutritious sources of energy, and more movement throughout the day. [06:42] The rate of conversion of fat to energy is slower than the conversion of glucose to energy. [09:29] Our paleo ancestors didn't work out three to five days a week so they didn't need to fuel up for frequent peak performances the way modern people do. [13:05] When power lifting be careful to protect your spine. Know what you are doing. [16:30] If you properly design a high intensity workout, you're not out there for too long draining your tank and getting exhausted and depleted and suppressing your immune function and your stress hormone. [21:43] Mike is asking about circadian rhythm. Of course, we need much more sleep, but it is said that between midnight and 3 AM are the most important times to be down in the dark getting your sleep. Anything that takes us out of that circadian rhythm has an adverse effect on us. [26:46] You get your dopamine triggers from many aspects of your activity flooding the receptors in our brain. [28:53] Eric Frohardt writes in about recent theories on the energy-balance concept talking about adding fruit to his carnivore diet. Autophagy is the natural internal cellular detoxification. [33:33] Constrained model of energy expenditure contends that humans bump up against an upper limit a ceiling of our total daily energy expenditure essentially no matter what. During this time you could read, spend time Spiritually, meditate or journal. It has been said this is the one time you can spend time on yourself. Remember if we don't take care of ourselves, we can't take care of others. Gratitude: Gratitude is the experience of counting one's blessings. It is the feeling that embodies the word “Thank You”. It is the unexpected reward of a kind deed that is magically produced by your brain. A 2003 study by Emmons and McCullough found that keeping a daily gratitude journal leads to not just an increased sense of well-being but also better sleep, willingness to accept change and also help and lower symptoms of physical pain. As it turns out, gratitude could be the ultimate magic pill for happiness. Here's the bottom line: Write a journal every morning and every night it's the closest thing to help you find happiness and peace in life. Either get a journal and start to process or if you need help here is my recommendation I shared with my clients this year. It's called “The Five Minute Journal.” You can check it out at fiveminutejournal.com Links Learn more about Gary's Mastermind group at goascend.biz/mastermind/

THRIVE is a word you may hear a lot like why survive when you can thrive..so today I am going to share 6 things you can do to thrive:T: Talk & Plan-yes not the norm for your age but it helps what do you have this week That you need your parents to help you with or drive you to what do you have this week that will require you to study maybe the night before etc.H: Healthy food choices I know you have heard this before but what if you added one vegetable to lunch and dinner and one fruit to breakfast?(maybe you can find some research on this to addd to here)R: Rest from technology. I know I know you all probably want to throw tomatoes at me right now but the reality is is our brains need to rest from all of this technology. So give yourself one hour every day of no technology maybe it's the hour before you go to bed. Give yourself one day a week will you all these take half the day to put down your phone. When you're out with your family or you're out with your friends make a fun bet and put everybody's phone in the middle of the table whoever grabs it first has to pay for dinner or do something silly. And I'm going to challenge you that when you go on a trip this summer with your family give yourself one full day of no technology. See how that changes the way that you feel enjoying each and every moment.I: nvest in your gutProbiotics did you know that probiotics that only help your gut which in return helps your mental health but also helps your mental clarity, energy, and even clear up acne. I'll be giving you guys some information today about the products that I represent they are all non-GMO gluten-free and plant-based we have one that you can take in a capsule form and also a shake. It is really important to make sure you add probiotics to your every day routine because unfortunately we just don't get what we need from our food anymore and our stress and technology makes it hard for our body. Vitamins no matter how hard we try to eat well which I doubt most of us honestly do we are in on the go society so having vitamins to help you to feel and be your best is really important let me tell you a little bit about why I love ours more than any other simplicity.Exercise Get active- why? The many benefits of exercise for teens include a healthier heart, stronger muscles and bones and improved mental health EndorphinsNow this last one is 7 things but it is one for an over achiever who wants to find happiness, peace, and have something that is their pocket always that can change their attitude….Gratitude Daily gratitude if you can just incorporate five things in the morning that you're grateful for and five things in the evening the air grateful for you will see your attitude start to change there's a reason why they say gratitude changes your attitude. There is tons of research on this and to really get the best affects you should write down your five gratitudes in the morning before starting your day and write down your five gratitude the night before you go to bed.Do us a favor..share with any teenager/tween you know. Then let us know if you are implementing any of these, you can find us:Instagram: @blessedmommabosses_FB: @blessedmommabossesFree community: http://www.blessedmommabossesgroup.com

For many, when life gets stressful or overloaded, diet and exercise are the first things to be dropped from a daily routine in subconscious hope that it will counteract the stress or obstacle. Good nutritional habits and exercise are in fact the exact counter measures to being stressed and feeling great on a daily basis, so how do we flip that mental switch. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/tylerkluver/support

If you are feeling the weight of the world polluting your peace and sanity, you're not alone and you're not crazy. Many of us feel the fatigue in our eyes, our skin, and definitely our social media. We are living under a sky that looks like Armageddon, we have hurricanes and natural disasters in the weirdest places, and the police are on an unchecked killing spree. Is it even possible to go through this time with EASE and with our head held high? Yes, but we need to get some pieces in place. This week, Dr. Venus talks about spiritual/emotional/mental fatigue. How to recognize it, move it out of your body, and claim your peace — the ultimate power. Key Takeaways: [4:34] In doing this week's powerful exercise, there is no judgement. The more you can be honest with yourself, the more your own truth will come out of your body and onto the page, and the better you will feel. Exercise: Get a pen and a piece of paper, and make three columns. Name each of the columns: Spiritual Fatigue Emotional Exhaustion Mental Burnout And then under each of the columns, make a list pertaining to that feeling. The key is to write it down. Here are some examples: Spiritual Fatigue: what is making you exhausted? Robbing you of your energy? Making you feel doubtful about your connection with the universe or your own faith? Emotional Exhaustion: How are your emotions? Are they up and down? Angry one minute and hopeful the next? Sad? Mad? Write it all down. Mental Burnout: What is the conversation like in your mind? Are you thinking the same endless chatter? Or judgements like, this shouldn’t be or this is wrong or this should NOT be happening? [9:37] Next, write down the answer to these three questions: Who are you blaming for this? Your mother? Your mayor? Trump? Mother Earth? What is it costing you? Peace? Quality time with loved ones? Energy? Confidence? What am I still grateful for, even in this tough time? Good friends to talk to on the phone? Time to rest? Books to read? [12:53] Chances are, most of the things on the list are things you can’t do anything about (besides vote). There are some you can take action on, but for the others, the solution is to surrender. [18:05] We have to be smarter about how we take on the challenges. Much like how our Black ancestors figured out that they had to live through it spiritually, instead of trying to fight their enemy head-on. [20:07] This is a tactic designed to wear us down, called Marketing Stamina in the world of marketing and sales. You see a message so many times that you surrender to it, and it takes up your mental real estate. You can combat this by actually going and enjoying your life, and being present to the miracle of being alive in the moment. [34:58] It may seem confusing why this is all happening, but it’s all in the right timing. We are meant for this. You are meant to take this on, and strong enough. Quotes: “It’s not the circumstances causing the fatigue, it’s the resistance to reality.” “Surrender is when you give up your right to be right.” “You don’t have to have it to be perfect to be peaceful.” “It’s amazing how much freedom, peace and joy that happens when you surrender.” “You can activate your faith through gratitude. The enemy can’t win in a high frequency space.” Mentioned: Dr. Venus Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram “Hot Mess Millionaire” Amazon Series Free Gift When You Join The Truth Tribe The Black Woman Millionaire Hot Mess Edition Join the conversation! We are all familiar with the term, and many of us with the feeling of a hangover. It’s when you have too many drinks and the next day, you feel less than your best. Perhaps a headache, tired, cranky, nausea. Why? Because alcohol disrupts sleep, dehydrates you and usually leads to less willpower - like eating four unreal’s. And you’re detoxing. Unlike alcohol, an emotional hangover is harder to avoid. What is it? An emotional hangover is when you are exposed to something that creates a lasting emotional affect or imprint. It can often cause bad dreams and you wake up with anxiety, dread, worry or don’t even want to get out of bed. What causes it? TV!! Reality tv or things that are really troubling - and we often watch right before bed, which means our subconscious is trying to work through it…..instead of our own challenges, it is trying to solve fictional ones! Consuming too much news with a focus on the “world is falling apart”. An interaction with someone who is negative, passive aggressive or who triggers you. A job you detest (20% of Americans hate their job ). To Cure It: Meditate - clear the mental air! Practice Gratitude - gratitude is the medicine that treats anxiety! Exercise - Get your body moving. When blood flows, energy flows Get Outside - Vitamin D, blue skies and fresh air! Eat Healthy and enjoy it: eating poorly isn’t going to improve how you feel Be creative or joyous: gives you perspective Get in action. Stop spinning your mental wheels. Especially if the hangover is from something that made you feel disempowered (politics or an encounter with a person), remind yourself of all of the ways you own your life. Does this mean you’ll never do anything that gives you a hangover? NO! But it’s about Being aware! Favorite Success Quote “Life is just a battle against your disbelief that's why I'm screaming I'm the greatest of all time like young Ali”~Nipsey Hustle Key Points 1. If Your Mindset isn't Right Your Life Won't be Right Everything in your life, good or bad, stems from your mindset and your internal beliefs. If your mindset is weak, your life will be weak, it's that simple. You must develop the habit of improving the quality of your thinking daily. Stop tolerating weak and amateur level behavior and beliefs from yourself, challenge all of your limiting beliefs that say “I can't do this” or “I'm not worthy.” Quit complaining and making excuses and just get to work, improve your mindset and build the life of your dreams. 2. Begin Your Morning in the Right State One of the habits nearly every successful person follows is a powerful morning routine. How you start your days plays a huge role in the outcome of your days, and your days control the outcome of your life, so if you want to take control of your life, take control of your mornings. Some habits you can begin instilling into your morning routine for rapid results are: 1. Affirmations: Tell yourself that you are the best over and over, and over 2. Meditation: Quiet your mind and get present and focused for the day ahead 3. Read: There is almost nothing as important as educating yourself, read, read, read. 4. Exercise: Get the endorphins going and the blood flowing 3. Eliminate Things That Are Distracting You From Your Goals We live in a digital age where big companies capitalize on creating products that distract us from living our lives. If you want to be truly successful, you must begin to ruthlessly eliminate things that distract you from achieving your goals. Do you really need to spend hours on facebook each day for “Business,” is the next episode of Breaking Bad really more important than your dreams and aspirations? Start eliminating distractions so that you can fill your life with real experiences and real achievement and impact. 4. Read as Much as You Can One of the cornerstone habit of every successful individual is massive self education. The most important investment you can make is in yourself, and reading is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to do that. Begin incorporating an hour of reading or listening to audiobooks into your life every day. Fill your head with the thoughts and life lessons of the greatest people who have ever lived and watch the quality of your life transform. 5. To Get Good Results You Need Good Emotions Your emotions are either helping or hurting you, there is no in between. If you want to see exceptional results in your life you need to have an exceptional quality of emotions. Learn to control how you feel in each moment. Understand the affect that sleep, exercise, posture, diet, and even your clothing has on how you feel in each moment and begin to build a lifestyle conducive to positive emotions. 6. Stop Being a Wimp aka Own Your Situation Whenever you find yourself allowing circumstances and negative emotions to rule your life, or whenever you begin playing the blame game, stop being a little wimp and own your situation. You are where you are because of the actions you have (or haven't) taken. You are responsible for your life, no one else. When you take 100% responsibility for your life, there is no one left to blame, and when there is no one left to blame you can begin living the life that you were born to live.
