Welcome back to another episode of Loving Later Life! This episode is another first! My conversation is with a couple. In their 80's! And, they're not just any couple! They are nationally recognized relationship therapists Dr. Gloria Horsley and Dr. Frank Powers. Gloria and Frank are currently serving as spokespersons for the dating app Silver Singles (they actually met online with this app). They were recently featured on NBC Tampa Bay's Bloom TV, Yahoo! Life, Men's Health, The Most Dramatic Podcast Ever with Chris Harrison, and Whine Down with Jana Kramer, among others. He served as the chairman of the Psychiatric Security Review Board for the State of Arizona and is a past psychology professor at Scottsdale Community College. Gloria and Frank have written a book together called, OPEN TO LOVE: THE SECRETS OF SENIOR DATING. Writing a book together was the last thing they thought they'd be doing at this stage of their lives, but the magic that came with finding each other later in life compelled them to share their story. And they wanted to do their part in making things a little bit easier and more fun when tackling the world of dating. You will not be able to listen to this without smiling the entire time. We had so much fun, and we also had fun navigating some internet issues including my power going out in the middle of our conversation! Come join us in the fun!

Frank Powers was shot down over Russia while flying the iconic U-2 airplane on a reconnaissance mission in 1960. He was convicted of espionage and sentenced to 10 years in Soviet prison but was eventually exchanged for a Russian spy captured several years earlier. Upon returning home, Frank was both privately and publicly praised and denigrated for his conduct while in Soviet custody. He died when his son was 12. It wasn't until he was in college that his son decided it was time to dig into the official record and see what the truth was. Is his father a hero or a villain? This week's Ghost of Arlington is: Air Force Captain Francis Gary Powers (Section 11, Grave 685-2) Claudia "Sue" Edwards Downey Powers (Section 11, Grave 685-2)Also, a very special thanks to Mountain Up Cap Company for its continued help to spread the word about the podcast on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/MountainUpCapCompany Climb to Glory! For more information about the podcast visit: · The GoA website: https://www.ghostsofarlingtonpodcast.com · Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ghostsofarlingtonpodcast· Twitter: https://twitter.com/ArlingtonGhosts· Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ghostsofarlington/
Special guests Daniella and Frank Powers come on the show this week to talk about GhostS!!
Unless you are from South Korea, you probably don't know about Frank Powers. Frank loved acting from an early age. Unfortunately, life got in the way and he joined the Army so he could pay his bills. It was during one of his military assignments in Korea that he was able to get into acting on a big scale. Frank landed the role of Lt. Birtch, a US Army CID Agent, on the highest rated TV show in South Korea to date, "Yain She Dae". After his rotation back stateside to Fort Bliss, TX, he was able to get roles on lots of big productions such as Terminator Salvation, Book of Eli, The Avengers, Sole Survivor, and Maze Runner to name a few. If you are local to the El Paso, TX area you have undoubtedly seen him in TV commercials for local businesses. Being in front of the camera was only part of Frank's Hollywood dream. He has also done his fair share of work behind the camera. His self-made humorous Western, Brothers James: Retribution has been a long time coming, but we should be seeing it released soon from a major distributor (Nondisclosure Agreement kept Frank from telling us which one). Having been in front and behind the camera, Frank is now scratching his entrepreneurial itch by opening a retro-clothing store. This store will specialize in retro and street wear. Frank is a many faceted talent and I can't wait to see what he decides to put his energy towards next! SUBSCRIBE to watch more videos like this one! He's unmistakably visible. His suit is covered with comic expressions like bam and kapow. His hat is orange, his cape is red and his sneakers flash green with every step. His superpower is lack of embarrassment and he plunges into the dangers of artistic apathy. While other superheroes are summoned by a bright light in the sky, Frank Powers summons the light and shines it what he calls the underdog- Comic Art. His current vision is bring the art to the people. To get this idea going he has closed his brick and mortar shop - which was called Constant Con- and is now pivoting the business to a bus - he calls The Comic Bookmobile... bringing local art and art education to kids through comics and super heroes. The bus will visit schools and put on assemblies as well as class to class visits advocating literacy and art programs to all of Tucson, and eventually the state of Arizona. We sat down with the man, the myth, the legend that is Frank Powers and got a little insight as to why a comic bookmobile is needed and where he is in the development stage. I think if Frank can overcome his shy quiet demeanor he could do well in show biz. It happened to be one of my longer interviews and took several detours, which we will be able to air on future shows. Today, however, it's about the bus. We'll link to the Gofund me site- busbusbus so you can see a composite video of the presentation Frank and his partner, Natalia, put together to win Startup Tucson's Thryve competition. I don't know if Frank will end up being the Krusty the Clown of Tucson, the mister rogers of his neighborhood, or the superhero saving schools, but I do have complete faith that Frank will continue to be celebrity using his powers for good.
