This week on the show Maine and Miranda recap all the action from the week in professional grappling. We break down the entire WNO 28 main card from FloGrappling, and UFC BJJ Episode 1. We discuss the main event where Mica Galvão put on a dominant performance to capture the WNO Middleweight Championship from Jonnatas Gracie. In the news section of the show, we discuss the debut of the much-anticipated UFC BJJ: Road to the Title, which is now airing daily for free on the UFC's YouTube channel. We analyze the format, a TUF-style reality show featuring two teams of lightweight (155 lbs) and welterweight (170 lbs) grapplers competing in the CJI-style pit and ruleset. We talked about the coaches, Mikey Musumeci and Rerisson Gabriel, and discussed their eventual championship fight at the finale. He's a multiple time Nogi World Champion at the Black Belt level, as well as one of the most experienced competitors on the scene today. On this week's episode Gianni shared some insights into his early training, rising through the ranks in the famed Renzo Gracie Academy, before furthering his training at the equally renowned Marcelo Garcia Academy. We had a great chat about his favourite training methods, how he develops his submission game, as well as how he has managed to keep great longevity in the sport. This week on the show Maine and Josh recapped the IBJJF 2021 GP, Raw Grappling #1 and previewed Grapplefest 10.  Plus discussed new ADCC rules.In the news section of the show we discussed a new rule for ADCC  that banned spiking and slamming from the backpack position. The Gianni Grippo rule a Maine dubbed it has gone into effect to prevent grave injury of competitors from this position after the slam occurred during the trials last week.  Also in the news section we discussed Troy the Night Pigeon Everett receiving his black belt and how much Troy has done for the show as a support over the years.In the recap section of the show we discussed Raw Grappling first event that featured a Heavyweight tournament we discussed the quarterfinals where Josh Hinger took a close decision win over Bradley Hill, Patrick Gaudio winning a split decision over Thomas Bracher, Taylor Pearman submitting Steven Hill with a calf-slicer, and Yuri Simões defeating Jed Hue on points in the 2 minute overtimeIn the semi finals we talked about Patrick Gaudio defeating Josh Hinger via decision, after a deep heel hook attempt from Hinger, and Yuri Simões defeating Taylor Pearman on points in overtime. In the third place match we discussed a return to form from Josh Hinger that saw him submit Taylor Pearman with a modified guillotine.  In the finals we saw Yuri Simões defeat Patrick Gaudio via a close decision. We also discussed the superfight between Lucas Barbosa and Gerard Labinski that saw Hulk set up a mounted armbar and finish, and Rafael Lovato defeating Adam Wardzinski ina very close match decided on 1 penalty.In the recap of the IBJJF GP we discussed both the middleweight and heavyweight GP. In the Middleweight Final we discussed Tainan Dalpra defeating Jonnatas Gracie with a choke from the back in impressive quick fashion, and Josh picks Dalpra to wins this next months upcoming worlds.  In the Heavyweight Final we discussed the controversy over Victor Hugo Aoki lock finish of Mahamed Aly. We discussed the possible outcomes of this match and discussed what possible instructional Gordon would be releasing after the event.  In the main event We discussed Bia Mesquita vs Luiza Monteiro That would Feature A Clash of styles a pressure game versus an aggressive top player, We discussed the rematch between Ffion Davies and Nathalie Ribeiro for the 125 pound title , plus Levi Jones-Leary vs Oliver Taza, a historically Gi player taking on an ADCC trials winner. We discussed Mikey Musumeci  coming off his loss at the last WNO and now taking on Richard Alarcon, plus the prelims Jacob Couch vs Hunter Colvin, and Damien Anderson taking on newly crowned IBJJF No-GI world champ Estevan Martinez.In the EUG 3 event we looked at the 155 pound bracket discussed a rematch of Gianni Grippo and Damien Anderson, and predicted the willer to take on Gabriel Sousa, or Pato in the finals of the event. In Third Coast Grappling Underdogs we talked about the bracket that was loaded with unknown talent in Phoenix AZ, and the frontrunners in Canuto, Taza, Shields, and Downey that filled out the wild bracket. In the outro of the show we discussed ADCC Trials.Recorded 10-18-2021

At heavyweight Pedro Marinho defeating Vagner Rocha by two points, at super heavyweight Devhonte Johnson beating Joe Dierkhising by 2 points, at ultra heavy Roberto Cyborg Abreu defeating Victor Hugo in a rematch from last year by one back take. In the absolute we saw Pedro Marinho win a close decision over Cyborg.In the women's divisions we discussed the roosterweight final where Mayssa Bastos defeated Sofia Amarante by 9 points, at featherweight where Talita Alencar defeated Gabrielle McComb via on two sweeps, at lightweight where Ffion Davies defeated Hannah Sharp on points.  We discussed the middleweight close out between Raquel Canuto and Nathalie Ribeiro, and our thoughts on closeouts. At medium heavyweight we talked at length about Elisabeth Clay greatguillotien over Bridget Grace for the title. At heavyweight Rafaela Guedes decision win over Maria Malyjasiak. This week on the show Maine and Emil recap the Emerald City Invitational, Polaris Squads 3, and Fight to WIn 180.In the news section of the show we discuss the full lineup for the who's number one 185 lb Championship bracket that has been announced for September.   We also discuss a few of the other names in some of the other announce brackets.We kick off the recap section of the show talking about the Emerald City Invitational 3 that featured a featherweight 145 lb tournament for $10,000.  We discussed some of the controversial finishes in the first round of the event including a quick heel hook by Gianni Grippo, And a Kimura throw by Damien Anderson.   We discuss The quarter-final matches featuring Kennedy Maciel vs Frank Rosenthal that saw a neck crank RNC victory for Kennedy.In the Tournament Semifinals We discuss the overtime matches betweenKennedy Maciel vs Keith Krikorian, Gianni Grippo vs Damien Anderson.  Then in the finals, Gianni Grippo defeating Kennedy Maciel In overtime due to fastest Escape.In our recap of fight to win 180 we talked about Rafael Lovato Jr. defeating Gabriel Arges By decision in a match that saw the American continually putting heavy pressure on the variety of guards that Gabriel put up. This week on the show Maine and Zak recap BJJ Bet 2 Whos Next,Fight to Win 179 and preview the Emerald City Invitational 2, Fight to Win 180 and Polaris Squads 3.In the news section of the show we discussed the formation of the B-Team in Austin Texas featuring half of the broken up members of the Danaher Death Squad we also discuss Gordon Ryan and John starting their own School in Austin tx.In the recap section of the show we kick it off talking about the main event featuring Hulk and Leandro Lo.  We discussed the speed in which Hulk initiated the takedowns on Leandro and the hard take down that allowed him to secure back mount and a rear naked choke.  We also discussed the semifinals of the event featuring exciting matchups between Lucas “Hulk” Barbosa and Mauricio Oliveira that saw Hulk go hard for the finish on an arm-triangle choke,  getting the tap almost instantly after changing the angle.  We also talked about Leandro Lo and William Tackett and the rib injury that Tackett had been dealing with.  In the first round we talked about all of the matchups including Leandro Lo dominant overtime victory against Rafael Paganini on points.  We discussed the contrast in Old School vs new school leg lock styles in William Tackett vs Rousimar “Toquinho” Palhares that saw the young American take a clean points victory over the ADCC vetran.  Plus the veteran game planning that saw Mauricio Oliveira defeat Micael Galvao on points. In the new section we talk about how Rafael Lovato Jr took the belt from Gegard Mousasi as well as Meregali and his post fight call out to Keenan looking for a rematch.In the recap for Third Coast Grappling we go through the top matches on the card breaking down the loop choke that Mergali hit on Cyborg. We talked about Craig Jones, Matheus Diniz, and the potential ADCC match later this year between Vagner Rocha and Ethan Crelinsten. We also break down the Edwin Najmi vs Gianni Grippo match, and talk about Gilbert "Durinho" Burns victory. In the recap for SACG the hosts talk about what it was like to do commentary for SAGC Redemption in college park Maryland. We talk about the three man commentary team of Maine, Emil, and Josh. In a true miracle managing not to curse for nearly 4 hours straight. We talk about the unique SAGC endurance format, plus go through some of our top matches on the card. We run through the undercard matches, then move into teh 10 man 155 pound bracket that ended up with 2 contenders that are scheduled to face off for the best at SACG 8. This week on the show we recap King Of Mats Heavyweights in Moscow. Fight to Win 115 in Seattle Washington then we preview. SAGC that the Grappling Rewind team will be commentating, we also preview mid west finishers to the welterweights Fight To Win 116 in Richmond California. Third Coast Grappling 3, and have an interview with the president of the organization Ryan McGuire. First we kick off the news Rodolpho Viera has been signed by the UFC. Josh Hinger and Keenan Cornelius have started making a podcast. Kasai Pro 6 qualifiers have all been completed and the finalists are ready to battle it out. Alex Vianna is going to be on his own episode of the Grappler Union Podcast this week. After that we move into the recap section taking a look at you UAEJJF Abu Dhabi Jiu-jitsu pro tour. Heavyweights king of mats A vent that saw stand out João Rocha, and Kaynan Duarte is a series of matches, along with A few other notable matches. After that we move into the recap of F2W 115. Where we saw Nathan Orchard versus Dustin Akbari end with fireworks. And some outstanding judo matches from Maka Yacapin and Others. This week on the Grappling Rewind Podcast Maine and Emil, recap the weeks pro BJJ and Jiu Jisu events. We start off the show with the week’s news and generally what’s hot in the world of professional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and what’s’ hot is one thing this week; who got invited to the 2019 ADCC event in California. As the invites list gets longer we see many of the staples of ADCC get their slot to the big show. We see Vagner Rocha, Geo Martinez, AJ Agazarm, Dillion Dannis, current Gi world champion Shane Jamil Hill Taylor, in the lower weight classes and top competitors Xande Ribeiro, the current Gi world champ Mahamed Aly, stand out Patrick Gaudio, former ADCC champions Vinny Magalhaes, and Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu. As well as Australian stand outs Kit Dale, and Craig Jones all get invites to the event. Then we close out news speculating about Conor Mcgregor potentially competing in grappling again after his comments during the Polaris Pro 9 promo. Plus we talk about Robbie Lawler vs Ben Askren and debate what it really is to be unconscious. That’s just the news section of the show. We get into the recap section where we take a look at Spyder Korea Qualifier 1, and the outstanding action that was this event over the weekend. We saw a number of Inter-belt matchup’s between purple belts brown belt and black belts all mixed into and under 76 kg division and an under 100 kg division. Taking a close look at Tim Sprigs and Mateus Lutes performances on the stacked event. After that we move into our recap of Fight to Win 103 in Houston Texas with a number of exciting matches and titles being exchanged. Gutemberg Pereira defending his title. Plus CEO Seth Daniels competing his first Judo match in 12 years only one week after neck and back surgery. A man Maine is truly inspired by. As well as a number of other matches on the card for the event. Then we move into the Midwest Finishers inaugural event that culminated in a bout between young stand out Andrew Tackett vs Pedro Serrano. These lightweight grapplers really put a stamp on the inaugural event and showcased the level of talent coming out of the Midwest. Next we get into more talent out of the Midwest as we recap Sub Spectrum 7. This event featured a men’s and women’s 135-pound bracket as well as exciting super fights between Tex Johnson and Matt Leighton. Josh jumps into the show to help recap this event talking about outstanding finishes from Both Tex and Junny Ocasio, and an outstandingly dominant performance from Hannah sharp. After all that we moved to the preview section previewing and Ultimate Mat Warriors 4, a 125-pound bracket that features Finishers 7 tournament winner Austin Daffron a man staging busy on the superfight scene. As well at top rooster weight Marcelo Cohen. As well as superfights from Kyle Chambers and more. We then get into our preview of Fight to Win 104 in Dallas Texas, with a huge headline bout Rafael Lovato Jr vs Yuri Simoes in what is sure to be one of the highest level matchups ever produced by the promotion. This card is stacked with standouts like DJ Jackson, Nathiely Jesus, Formiga, and Tracy Goodell. We preview the inaugural event for SOGI 1 and it’s multiple divisions and superfight card featuring many grapplers we see frequently on the show Junny Ocasio, Sam Micale, Nick Rodriguez, Zach Edwards, and many more.
