What happens when a digital strategist stops fighting reality and starts leading from it.There are conversations that feel like a strategy session and a therapy session at the same time. This one was both. Mary Brodie came into the Power Lounge and did something rare. She made acceptance sound like the most powerful leadership move you can make.If you work in digital, lead a team, or run your own business, you know the pressure to chase the aspirational audience, the perfect product, the frictionless experience. Mary has spent over 20 years helping companies stop chasing and start seeing. And what she has found is that the women in digital who thrive are the ones who learn to work with what is, not just what they wish were true.Mary Brodie is the Founder and Digital Experience Strategist at Gearmark, a consultancy she has built over two decades across apps, websites, content strategy, lead generation, and full digital experience design. She holds a BA and MA from Simmons College, a certificate from MIT, and an Executive Master's in Corporate Communications from IE University in Madrid. She is currently pursuing her doctorate at Case Western Reserve University, where her research explores how B2B buying teams build relationships with supplier salespeople.Key TakeawaysAcceptance is not passive. It is the foundation of every smart business decision, from knowing your real customers to building a team that actually trusts each other.Your digital experience reflects your internal experience. If your employees are disengaged, that bleeds into every customer touchpoint, every chatbot, every support call.Women in digital and female entrepreneurs online often chase aspirational audiences instead of maximizing the ones they already have. The brands that win know exactly who their customer is and own it.AI is a tool, not a replacement. Using it well means knowing what question you are actually trying to answer and what data you are feeding it.The most underrated skill in women leadership and digital marketing for women is listening. Not the performative kind. The kind where you feel something shift in the room.Mary Brodie said, "Accept yourself and make sure that you're happy with what you're doing and what your output is. Not your perfect foot. Your best foot."Mary Brodie said, "Once you accept that we don't all share the same values, the world becomes a very different place. And it's not a scary place. It's just a different place. And a lot of the world becomes a lot clearer."Timestamps00:00 Welcome to the Power Lounge.01:51 Twenty years of entrepreneurship. Sometimes the moments that challenge your identity the most end up reshaping your entire relationship with money. In this episode of Money Tales, Bobbie LaPorte shares what it looks like to navigate financial highs and lows with humility and resourcefulness. After years of corporate success, Bobbie found herself asking a very different question. What do you do when the path you expected disappears and you still need to move forward? Bobbie's story is candid and full of hard-earned perspective and thoughtful generosity. Bobbie is a leadership advisor, executive coach, Founder and CEO of Bobbie LaPorte & Associates, where she helps leaders navigate volatility, complexity, and constant change. She works with Fortune 500 companies, global organizations, and high growth start-ups to build confident leaders who can think and perform at their best when the ground is shifting. Bobbie brings rare credibility to the conversation, having served as a CEO, COO and CMO in multiple Fortune 50 companies, including IBM, GE, and UnitedHealthcare, as well as leading two healthcare technology start ups. Bobbie is the and author of When the Curveballs Keep Coming. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Master's in Positive Leadership and Strategy from IE University in Madrid. Known for blending real world executive experience with science-based insight, Bobbie helps leaders strengthen personal agency, confidence and decision making under pressure. Her work spans keynote talks, leadership workshops, enterprise learning programs and one on one executive coaching. When she's not working with leaders, Bobbie is training for her seventh Ironman triathlon—often alongside her two Golden Retrievers on Bay Area trails. Here are three money conversations this episode will help you navigate: 1. How your relationship with money is shaped early and evolves over time. Growing up between abundance and scarcity, Bobbie learned to be self-sufficient and still carries that lens into how she saves, spends and supports others today. 2. What it really takes to get through financial uncertainty. Bobbie shares the reality of starting over, including the humbling decision to take any job available while building something new, and how that shaped her confidence and independence. 3. How to define “enough” when success keeps raising the bar. Through her work with high-earning clients, Bobbie brings a grounded lens on balancing ambition and wealth with the relationships, health, time and everyday experiences that often get pushed aside in the pursuit of more. Follow Money Tales on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or YouTube Music for more real stories that inspire thoughtful, intentional decisions about money.

The recent election result in Hungary has been seen as a welcome relief within the European Union. The bloc of 27 nations has, at times, felt frustrated with the country for blocking what the other 26 members have agreed to do, especially regarding financial support for Ukraine. Now the EU has been able to push through a loan to Ukraine of more than US$100bn, and some observers believe the union's turbulent years are behind it. As it marks 10 years since the United Kingdom voted to leave, and with Montenegro expected to soon join, this week on The Inquiry we're asking: ‘What is the future of the European Union?'Contributors: Dr Monika Sus, professor at the Polish Academy of Sciences and at the Robert Schuman Center of the European University Institute in Florence, Italy Michael Geary, professor of European history at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway Catherine E. de Vries, author How Europe Survives: The Adaptability and Resilience of a Continent in Peril, vice dean of the school for politics, economics and global affairs at IE University of Madrid, Spain Dr Andi Hoxhaj, lecturer in law and director of the European law and LLM programme at King's College, London, UKPresenter: Daniel Rosney Producer: Jill Collins Researchers: Evie Yablsey and Amelia Cox Editor: Tom Bigwood Technical Producer: James Bradshaw Production Management: Phoebe Lomas and Liam Morrey(Photo: European Union flags. Most entrepreneurs will tell you their business started with a plan. Jacquie Mahan will tell you hers started with a hunch, a deep affection for the autism community, and what she admits was an almost irresponsible amount of self-confidence. Jacquie is the founder of The Awesome Company, a Grove City-based custom screen-printing business that employs autistic adults and is about to turn 10. Her path to running it is a slightly chaotic one that includes an art gallery in the Short North, a brief and miserable stint as a stay-at-home mom, a Pilates studio, an in-progress EMBA through Brown and IE University, and a small herd of animals on what she lovingly calls a “fake farm” — including two pigs named Doc and Marty. If you've ever found yourself thinking: “I came to mindfulness to feel better… so why am I noticing more?”, then this episode is for you. In Episode 6 of ‘Getting Real with Mindfulness', Claire Kelly and Victoria Fontana explore a question that comes up again and again in mindfulness courses: What's the point of noticing if we're not being asked to fix anything? Together, they reflect on why noticing can feel uncomfortable, overwhelming, or even frustrating at first, and why it's also a crucial foundation for change. From trust and patience, to kindness, choice, and agency, this conversation gently unpacks what's really being trained when we “just notice”. This is a grounded, honest discussion about: Why awareness often comes before change How noticing isn't passive even when it feels like “doing nothing” What mindfulness is training beneath the surface And how compassion, rather than striving, opens new ways of responding If you'd like to get in touch to share your thoughts, reflections or ideas for future episodes, we'd love to hear from you.

Sanchez will wrap up his tour on Wednesday. Noting that today's turbulent world faces the struggle between right and might, Xi called on both China and Spain, as countries that value principle and moral integrity, to enhance communication, consolidate mutual trust and strengthen cooperation to oppose the world's regression to the "law of the jungle", and jointly uphold true multilateralism. How a country approaches international law and the international order reflects its worldview, its conception of order and values, and its sense of responsibility, he said. He emphasized that both countries should safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based,on international law, promote an equal and orderly multipolar world and universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, and advance the building of a community with a shared future for humanity. Regarding bilateral relations, Xi said that an important lesson from the steadily growing bilateral ties is that both sides have made the right decisions based on shared interests. Facts have proved that deepening cooperation serves the interests of both peoples, and enhances the strength and confidence of both sides in pursuing a path of independence and self-reliance, he said. Xi called for Beijing and Madrid to place the development of bilateral relations in an important position in their respective foreign policies and support each other in defending sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also called on the two countries to seize opportunities and seek innovation-driven development, enhance cooperation in fields such as trade, new energy and the intelligent economy, and encourage exchanges in culture, education, scientific research and sports. Sanchez expressed willingness to communicate and coordinate with China to jointly address challenges such as those in international geopolitics, trade protectionism and climate change. Spain opposes a new Cold War as well as attempts to decouple and sever supply chains, he said, adding that the country supports Europe and China in enhancing their communication, mutual understanding and cooperation. The sound development of European Union-China relations serves the common interests of both sides and contributes to global peace and stability, he said. Miguel Otero-Iglesias, a professor of practice of international political economy at Spain's IE China. Decoupling from China and containing China is a "strategic mistake", said Otero-Iglesias, who is also a senior analyst of international political economy at Elcano Royal Institute in Madrid. In a meeting with Premier Li Qiang on Tuesday, Sanchez said that Spain supports enhanced dialogue and end.

Half a million people are in Spain without official permission. They come mainly from Colombia, Peru, Honduras, Paraguay, and Argentina. It's thought that most outstay their work, student, or tourist visas. An amnesty to grant them legal status to remain and work is due to start within weeks. It's a very different approach from most other countries in Europe that have been tightening controls on migration. The prime minister has admitted “Some say we've gone too far, that we're going against the current”.Opposition parties argue that this policy puts pressure on public services. This week on The Inquiry, we're asking: “How will Spain's migrant amnesty work?”Contributors: Ismael Gálvez Iniesta, assistant professor, department of applied economics, Universitat de les Illes Balears, Spain Donna Cabrera, independent researcher, international migration lecturer, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Colombia Alana Moceri, international relations professor, IE University, Spain Joan Monràs, economics professor, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, SpainPresenter: Charmaine Cozier Producer: Daniel Rosney Researcher: Evie Yabsley Editor: Tom Bigwood Technical producer: James Bradshaw Production Management: Phoebe Lomas and Liam Morrey

In this episode of 'Getting Real with Mindfulness', Claire Kelly (Oxford Mindfulness) and mindfulness teacher Victoria Fontana unpack boredom in mindfulness practice – why it can show up, why it feels so uncomfortable, and how it might actually be a doorway into creativity and awareness.    The function and roots of boredom are explored, including its evolutionary role as a motivator and the neuroscience behind it. Claire and Victoria emphasise not judging feelings of boredom, but using it as a signal to practise mindfulness more skilfully.
