Episode 232 of my Curate Your Health Podcast is out! Link below. Dr. Prudence Hall is here to talk about the unique needs of women, specifically during menopause. How you manage your menopause and perimenopause will determine how you will feel for the remainder of your life. It is so important to be proactive in your health. Around the ages of 35-37 perimenopause usually begins.  Some symptoms include: your periods coming closer together, not sleeping well, compulsive behavior, bloating, digestive issues, and mood changes. Around the ages of 44-49 menopause usually begins. It is imperative to handle your symptoms from the beginning and take the time to care for yourself. Women need to manage their hormonal state and keep a finger on the pulse of unhealthy aging. She helps women by measuring all of their various hormones. All hormones start to decrease during perimenopause at age 35. By correcting hormones that are deficient and making these changes will help women feel youthful. Dr. Hall is the medical director and founder of The Hall Center, a holistic medical center specializing in women's health, detox, weight loss, and daily feeling full of life. She started as a traditional gynecological surgeon and transitioned her career to focus on regenerative and integrated medicine. Recognizing the urgent need to tackle stubborn aging symptoms, she focuses solely on regenerative medicine, aiming to address root causes and promote optimal health without relying on pharmaceuticals. Dr. Hall is passionate about guiding clients to attain peak well-being and proactively ward off the expected decline, employing established natural and regenerative approaches. About Dr. Prudence Hall: Dr. Prudence Hall started as a traditional gynecological surgeon and transitioned her career to focus on regenerative and integrated medicine. Her practice is focused exclusively on regenerative medicine, looking into the root causes of conditions and diseases rather than simply treating symptoms. She strives to help clients achieve optimal health and actively prevent disease without the use of pharmaceutical drugs when appropriate. As a health consultant, she strives to help clients achieve optimal wellbeing and actively prevent inevitable decline using proven natural, regenerative methods. She is also the author of Radiant Again & Forever.   What We Discuss In This Episode: In this episode we talk a little today about aging - especially when it comes to women in perimenopause, menopause, or even postmenopause. All of a sudden, it becomes a big topic for us – even something that can keep us awake at night when we think about all of the changes we're seeing Dr. Prudence talks about how integrated the body is and how something as simple as the gut can affect all our emotions and our moods and our future diseases and it just became so exciting to be able to put this together in a different way with the traditional knowledge that I have.  She shares her belief that treating perimenopause and really being aware of what's going on in our body is so important. She comments that when she started this type of work, the perimenopausal age was really more like 50, 51, 52.  Now women are saying, “But you know, my doctor won't even check my hormones because they say I'm far too young for this.” We see women at an earlier age starting their menopausal journey. Because of this, be your own advocate with your doctor - inform your doctor what you think is going on. Dr. Prudence shares that symptoms are absolutely crucial. And especially with some of the other hormones that start to decline. So, in menopause, it's not just the ovarian hormones that decline.  It's very, very stressful to the body to lose your estrogen, progesterone and your testosterone. When you're in menopause, what happens is low estrogen causes high inflammation, high stress, high LDL, generally bad cholesterol, and so stress inflammation, and high sugar. Dr. Prudence shares that when she raises those estradiol levels in the rest of the hormones, including the thyroid, then the body becomes youthful again and whole.  We also discuss what happens to women when they've had a hysterectomy - or even a partial – we should make sure that we know our hormones before and then after. Dr. Prudence discusses how it's not just about taking hormones in the perimenopausal phase, but she shares that at age 73, she is I'm still on full hormones and feels like she's about 45. She believes she would be much more tired and experience much more brain fog without them.  Key Takeaways Perimenopause can start as early as the late 30s and is a crucial time to get hormone levels checked. Symptoms matter more than age. Menopause causes increased inflammation, stress, LDL cholesterol, and sugar, which lead to diseases. Hormone therapy can help prevent this. Hormone levels should be optimized to youthful ranges throughout life to prevent diseases and maintain vitality. Thyroid health is critical for energy, weight, skin, hair, and brain function.   Free Resource from Dr. Prudence Hall:  Free book on Website:  https://drprudencehall.com  Connect With Dr. Prudence Hall: Website: https://drprudencehall.com  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/prudencehallmd/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drprudencehall.com    Connect with Lynne: If you're looking for a community of like-minded women on a journey - just like you are - to improved health and wellness, overall balance, and increased confidence, check out Lynne's private community in The Energized Healthy Women's Club. Historian Richard Godbeer presents a richly layered and intimate account of the American Revolution as experienced by a Philadelphia Quaker couple, Elizabeth Drinker and the merchant Henry Drinker, who barely survived the unique perils that Quakers faced during that conflict. Spanning a half‑century before, during, and after the war, this gripping narrative illuminates the Revolution’s darker side as patriots vilified, threatened, and in some cases killed pacifist Quakers as alleged enemies of the revolutionary cause. Amid chaos and danger, the Drinkers tried as best they could to keep their family and faith intact. Through one couple’s story, Godbeer opens a window on a uniquely turbulent period of American history, uncovers the domestic, social, and religious lives of Quakers in the late eighteenth century, and situates their experience in the context of transatlantic culture and trade. A master storyteller takes his readers on a moving journey they will never forget. Richard Godbeer is Director of the Hall Center for the Humanities and Charles W. Battey Distinguished Professor of History at the University of Kansas Description courtesy of Yale University Press.
