However, while attending these workshops, she was manipulated into doing many perverse and corrupt sexual activities she did not want to do. These experiences left her deeply traumatized. In early 2022, Heidi decided to speak out to the community about her experiences. Immediately, former participants began writing to her about their own stories of sexual exploitation and manipulation at these Quodoushka sex workshops and other Deer Tribe events. She hopes that by speaking out publicly, it will help others avoid and walk away from destructive high-control groups. Today, she is recovering and rebuilding her life with her husband. In this revealing and courageous conversation, Heidi shares her story of religious and sexual trauma for the very first time, explaining to Rachel the generational family dysfunction that primed her for seeking healing in a faux Native American organization, which turned out to be an abusive sex cult. Heidi succinctly articulates the complex emotional turmoil of her familial relationships as well as her yearning for healthy spiritual practice. Mindset Series Episode 2: Gratitude

Let's Book Clients!

Play Episode Listen Later May 19, 2022 7:34

We started this mindset series by talking about what mindset really is, then I promised you we would explore 4 elements of mindset.Mindset is something I sprinkle in often, because it's something that is so important and really makes a difference in our businesses and our lives, and really the way they work together in harmony. This series is a little more than that, it's more about being aware of our mindset. The first element we're exploring, if we have to pick favorites, is my favorite. It's gratitude. Feeling gratitude and expressing gratitude are really 2 different things but they do go hand in hand. Both are important in their own way.We can get so caught up in every day things that sometimes we don't even stop to feel grateful for anything at all. (Hang on, I've got you on the hot tip for this one.)But it's the showing gratitude that sometimes is so much more difficult. It can be awkward for sure.Just going up to someone and saying “I'm so grateful for you.” feels a little uncomfortable, right?Think about this. Imagine someone you love or admire or respect just coming up to you and saying “I'm so grateful for you.”How would that make you feel? I don't know about you but I love that! It's also something as powerful as a little thank you note.I'm big on a thank you note.Again, easier to say than do. It's really a simple and easy practice, but it's another thing to actually do.I'm sitting here now with a list a mile long on thank you notes I need to send out.Consider grabbing a box of blank note cards and sticking one in every time you have an interaction with someone.I was on my friend Heidi Thompson's podcast, Evolve Your Wedding Business, yesterday. We were discussing social proof. We'll discuss it here another day, but one of the tricky things about social proof is feeling uncomfortable about putting yourself out there, because it can feel like you're showing off or bragging. When you're coming from a place of gratitude in your social proof, it completely removes that discomfort or look of being like you're showing off.Let's say you land on a preferred vendor list that you've been dreaming of making a connection with. You post on Instagram that you're so grateful and excited to have a partnership with, let's say, the love shack venue. You tag the love shack, they're also grateful to have an amazing vendor like you to do business with, so they share the post on their account too. That's social proof to anyone who sees either of your accounts, that you're well connected, respected, and a team player. But you weren't on there saying, “oh look at me, I'm so cool for getting on the love shack's preferred vendor list”.That's not effective at all.But coming from a place of genuine gratitude not only shows that you're a team player and well connected, it also shows that you're thoughtful and humble, and coming from a place of service. Here's the deeper thing, it not only shows that to your future, current, past clients on your social media, it also strengthens your relationship with the love shack and shows them these things about you too.Now take it a step further and send a thank you note to the love shack and tell them how grateful and excited you are to work with them. You'll be the one they remembeDo you wish you could fill your calendar faster and easier? It's always easy to do on your own, so I've created a free challenge for you, where we'll walk through it together. The challenge starts on September 21, when you sign up right now you'll get an action item that will have you starting with the right foundation!Just go to www.letsbookclients.com/referralschallenge to sign up today!

As the economy rebounds, the question remains, “What about inflation?” According to Joel Naroff, Chief Economist at Naroff Economics, LLC, “We are transitioning to a higher period of inflation and interest rates than we've had over the last 20 years.” This transition is projected to last longer than expected with hiring challenges, supply-chain bottlenecks, and other disruptions caused by the pandemic. In fact, we could see about 2% in the coming months as the CPI (consumer price index) jumped 5% in May. What do we do if inflation continues to go up and up? Heidi Thompson introduces herself as a Washing-Flori-Virgi-Texa-Cali-Zonian, because she's lived all over the country.    As a former counselor and educator turned attorney, Heidi specializes in conflict avoidance, by helping families with wills and trusts.  She's a published author, engaging presenter, and talented performer. Her karaoke go-to is “Love Takes Time” by Mariah Carey. She spent a few years in Hollywood momaging my son's career and got to do some of her own acting and extras work, including in the very unlikely movie “Straight Outta Compton.”    A mom and grandmom who's been married for 29 years, she's known her husband since she was 11 and their moms did aerobics together when they were in middle school.   Fun facts about Heidi, she's ridden about 90% of all the roller coasters in America and at the time of our conversation, she was days away from embarking on her latest adrenaline rush of jumping out of an airplane.   I'm eager for you to hear Heidi's unusual philosophy on life, which has contributed to her actually never having had the experience of being stuck at fine.   Heidi's hype song she shared for this episode was Roar by Katy Perry https://youtu.be/CevxZvSJLk8 (https://youtu.be/CevxZvSJLk8) You can get a free copy of Heidi's book, Lifeguard Your Legacy, which provides an easy blog-style read of what every person should know about estate planning at http://www.lifeguardinglegacies.com/book-freebie (www.lifeguardinglegacies.com/book-freebie).  Find out more about Heidi here: http://www.lifeguardinglegacies.com/ (www.lifeguardinglegacies.com)  http://www.facebook.com/lifeguardinglegacies (www.facebook.com/lifeguardinglegacies)  http://www.instagram.com/drjosi (www.instagram.com/drjosi)  http://www.pinterest.com/mtmailbox (www.pinterest.com/mtmailbox)  http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2D7WpEhjD7tYYJtGh9ePQg (www.youtube.com/channel/UC2D7WpEhjD7tYYJtGh9ePQg)  http://www.linkedin.com/in/heidithompson (www.linkedin.com/in/heidithompson)  Come join us in the https://www.facebook.com/groups/fineisa4letterword (Fine is a 4-Letter Word Facebook group). What are some of the challenges you're running into when marketing your business? For many of the wedding pros I talk to, it’s that there are just so many different places that you could spend your time and money - is it in social media? Which platforms? Is it in networking? Is it paid media like Google ads? Is it redesigning your website? Is it Clubhouse? Maybe you want to think about who your ideal client is and where they tend to show up. But then….how do you figure out who your exact client is? Heidi Thompson's Book More Weddings Summit Evolve Your Wedding Business The Evolve Your Wedding Business Podcast   This episode is also brought to you by The Planner's Vault, my online membership site for wedding planners who are hungry to grow, ready to hustle, and actively seeking community and education.
