We dive into breaking news, including Amazon offering Jared Leto the role of Skeletor in the upcoming Masters of the Universe film, and Josh Brolin's decision to pass on the role of Hal Jordan in HBO's Green Lantern series. Also, Judd Apatow is set to direct, with Steven Spielberg producing, Cola Wars for Sony, chronicling Pepsi's battle to dethrone Coca-Cola. We also touch on director Gary Dauberman's remarks about Stephen King's crucial role in ensuring the release of Salem's Lot, which finally arrives on Max after multiple delays. In our "Coming Soon/Preview" segment, we take a look at trailers for Wolf Man, The Radleys, and Venom 3. In a move that may destroy this podcast, Brandon and Steve give their instant reactions to the first Presidential #Debate2024, which appears to be the sixth-consecutive contest between Giant Douche and Turd Sandwich, thanks South Park. And nooowww...Hell Comes to Frogtown: In a post-apocalyptic world, women rule and men are judged not by the content of their character, but by the quality of their spermatozoa. Enter Sam Hell, a man with stronger swimmers than the US Olympic Team. A scavenger, drifter, and criminal-type, he opts to work with the government after he's captured, rather than face prison. His mission? To first rescue, then procreate with, a group of women who were taken captive by a race of Frogpeople. The human race needs more babies to survive, and only Sam Hell has the balls to save humanity. Is this setup stupid? Probably, but let's not got too teste. Hell Comes to Frogtown final grade: Steve maybe wasn't in a receptive mood for this one, but he calls this one "meh." Rowdy Roddy Piper misses as a leading man and bad #science knocks this one down several pegs. 2.69/5.0 Brandon This movie was ribbeting. Not a good movie, the nostalgia of a 1980s WWF icon and the low-brow humor hits in his soft spots. 3.45/5 Cocktail of the Week: Feeling Froggy? It Ain't Easy Being Green? Who knows... 1 oz vodka 1 oz Midori Melon Liqueur 1/2 oz Orange Liqueur 1/2 oz Coconut Rum 1 oz Pineapple Juice Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Strain over cherries in a frosted martini glass. Cocktail Grade: Brandon takes another shot at creating a cocktail. This one misses the mark, but it might be better if something about it were changed. 2/5 ------------------ Contact us with feedback or cocktail/movie recommendations to: boozeandbmovies@gmail.com X: @boozeandbmovies Instagram: @boozeandbmovies Threads: @boozeandbmovies www.facebook.com/boozeandbmovies --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/boozeandbmovies/support

Get cozy, ghouls! This week's episode is all about Roger Corman's cozy spin on HP Lovecraft starring Vincent Price; The Haunted Palace (1963). From wiki: “The Haunted Palace is a 1963 horror film released by American International Pictures, starring Vincent Price, Lon Chaney Jr. and Debra Paget (in her final film), in a story about a village held in the grip of a dead necromancer. The film was directed by Roger Corman and is one of his series of eight films largely based on the works of American author Edgar Allan Poe.” But first: Josh and Dru go to the West side! Drusilla is Lovecraft's great great grandniece or something. Drusilla watched The Erl King (1931) directed by Marie-Louise Iribe on Criterion. Josh watched the first film by an obscure director named Steven Spielberg called Duel and became a men's rights activist. (Kidding!) Also mentioned: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Häxan, Jean Cocteau, Hell Comes to Frog Town, Guy Maddin, Kenneth Anger, Road Games, The Vanishing Point, Death Proof, Jaws, Tenebrae, Scooby Doo, Elisha Cook Jr., Lair of the White Worm, The Haunting of Julia, cozy horror, Joe Dante, Alan Arkush, The Sentinel, and more! Justin and Paul are back! This week they talk about what could very well be the best movie on TUBI! No, not Hell Comes to Frogtown. It's the Hughes Brothers masterpiece, DEAD PRESIDENTS. A movie that never got enough praise . . . until now!
Denise Richards rides on the back of a mechanical dino housing Paul Walker's brain. Well that sound preposterous! Well it is and its great. Tammy and the T-Rex steps in as a refreshing breath of absurdity and pure entertainment. This 1994 masterpiece (yes, masterpiece!) takes a giant leap away from the conventional somber depths of remakes of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, instead bringing us a low-budget, high-energy romp that defies all logic and embraces its own delightful brand of ridiculousness. While Mary Shelley's Frankenstein may be lauded for its literary merits and complex themes, Tammy and the T-Rex boldly goes in the opposite direction, serving up a heaping portion of hilarity that will have you chuckling from start to finish. Denise Richards leads the charge, effortlessly transitioning from the realms of serious acting to embody the vivacious and determined Tammy. It's as if she's giving a sly wink to Frankenstein's brooding creature, saying, "Hey, let's have some fun!" Richards infuses the film with her infectious charm, reminding us that not every movie needs to take itself so seriously. And let's not forget Paul Walker's comedic brilliance as Michael. While Frankenstein may be brooding in a castle, Michael is romping around as a T-Rex, and Walker embraces the absurdity with gusto. His comedic timing is impeccable, and his physicality is on point. From the slapstick moments to the witty one-liners, Walker effortlessly injects the film with a contagious energy that keeps us laughing throughout. Testicular standoff! Tammy and the T-Rex may not be a financial success like the Naked Guns or Hot Shots from the same era, but that's precisely why it's so enjoyable. It's a wild and wacky ride that revels in its own absurdity, reminding us that sometimes, it's okay to let loose and have a good laugh. So, if you're in the mood for a low-budget gem that defies logic, Tammy and the T-Rex is a true contrarian budget masterpiece along the lines of "Hell Comes to Frogtown". Sit back, relax, and let the T-Rex take you on a delightfully outrageous adventure you won't soon forget!

Jeff Drake - The Joneses - in conversation with David Eastaugh https://hozacrecords.com/product/guilty/ The Joneses were a punk band from Anaheim, Southern California. In 1981 guitarist and singer Jeff Drake and professional skateboarder, Steve Olson, formed its nucleus but over the years the Joneses included numerous players with Drake being the only constant member. The Joneses' first seven-inch, 45 rpm single was "Criminals in My Car" b/w "Jonestown". They next released a pair of songs, "Graveyard Rock" and "Pillbox", on the 1982 BYO Records compilation, Someone Got Their Head Kicked In. The EP, Criminals, was the Joneses next released recording. Hell Comes to Your House Volume 2, included the two Joneses tracks: "I'm Bad" and "She's So Filthy".
Good Brews Bad Views treks through the post-apocalyptic future that is riddled with mutant frogs, a lack of fertile males, and really cool looking converted jeeps in the surprisingly charming Hell Comes to Frogtown. Hope over to 1:25:17 for our final thoughts on Hell Comes to Frogtown, our accompanying beverage, and other post-apocalyptic media you shouldn't be sleeping on.

Dragon on The Couch: The Dragon watched The Trouble with Harry (Rent), she thought it was a good comedy, particularly for its time. Next she watched Killer's Kiss (Tubi) and The Killing (Rent), both Kubrick films. She thought they were ok, but she isn't a fan of noir films. She next watched Orphan: First Kill (Paramount+), she enjoyed it and thought the twist in the film was good. Finally, she watched Vamp (Tubi), she thought it was a fun 80's horror film with good acting. Berto on the Bed: Berto starts with The Real Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist (Netflix), he thought it was a great, fun documentary and highly recommends it. Next, he watched Untold: The Rise & Fall of And1 (Netflix), which he thought was ok. He saw Untold:The Girlfriend Who Didn't Exist (Netflix), about Manti Te'o. He loved it and thought it was amazing and very enlightening. Next, he watched Role Models (Prime), which he thought was a great comedy from the 00's and most of the jokes could not be done today. Berto watched Free Guy (HBO), which he thought was a fun comedy and he enjoyed very much. Next he watched Hell Comes to Frogtown (Tubi), which he thought was an insane 80's Scifi that was somewhat fun to watch. He next watched The Torture Chamber of Dr. Sadism (Prime), which he said was not good and boring. Next, he watched Pumpkin Pie Wars (Prime), which was a hallmark autumn love drama… no other description is needed. Finally, Berto went to Joe Bob Corner. He watched Day Of The Beast (Shudder), which he found fun. And the original Little Shop of Horrors (Shudder), which he thought was passable. In this week's deep dive we watched the 2017 horror comedy The Night Watchmen, currently streaming on Amazon Prime.
On episode 58, we first ventured into the world of Roddy Piper acting when Andrew's brother Jacob joined us as we discussed They Live. During that episode, we discovered that Piper was in another movie during that time in his life, and this one might be a bit wacky. Hell Comes to Frogtown is the story of Sam Hell, who, after a devastating nuclear war, is tasked with repopulating the earth with humans during their war against frog/human mutant hybrids. It's sexier than it sounds. First, we discuss the Jurassic Park franchise and Kevin Smith's entire career because we don't get Jacob very often and he's the only one capable of scratching Dusty's cinema itch. For anyone who hasn't seen it, Clerks 3 is discussed but spoilers were mostly avoided because Andrew hasn't seen it yet. 00:00 - 50:23 - Dusty got married, Jurassic Park, Kevin Smith 50:23-2:24:20 - Hell Comes to Frogtown Follow us on Twitter and Instagram @SnarkMarksPod, follow Dusty on Twitter @SnarkMarkD, and subscribe to our YouTube channel!
