Have you ever been told you're 'too sensitive' or that you need to ‘get over it,' or ‘don't worry about it,' but that only causes you to worry more, or feel less connected to others, or even yourself? Or have you been told that your sensitivity must mean you're on the autism spectrum? Or are you on the autisim spectrum and can you also identify with many of the characteristics of Highly Sensitive People? With over 2.2 million views and hundreds of comments on recent viral videos about Highly Sensitive People (HSPs), it's clear this topic strikes a nerve. Drawing from his experience working with both HSPs and individuals with ASD, Tony dives deep into why these distinct experiences are often confused - and why understanding the difference isn't just interesting, it's essential for creating a more empathetic world. Through viral video statistics, personal anecdotes, and real-world examples, he breaks down how HSPs (representing 15-20% of the population) and individuals with ASD navigate life differently. From sensory processing to social dynamics, discover why that deep emotional processing might actually be an evolutionary advantage rather than a disorder. Along the way, the discussion explores how ADHD and NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) intersect with these experiences. This episode provides crucial insights into recognizing, understanding, and supporting both HSPs and individuals with ASD. Whether questioning your own experiences or trying to better understand someone else's, listeners will find the clarity and validation they've been seeking. The Gentle Rebel Podcast

In this special episode of The Gentle Rebel Podcast, I'm thrilled to unveil the first issue of Coming To Our Senses. This online audio/visual zine for Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) is an immersive exploration of the intersection of high sensitivity, creativity, and culture. The zine's launch coincides with the 10th Anniversary of The Haven, which started in June 2014. While it looked pretty different back then, its underlying essence has always been the same - providing a space for gentle rebels to gather and grow together. I hope that Coming To Our Senses will become an ongoing collaborative heartbeat of our community. It reflects the spirit of The Haven, with members providing inspiration, suggestions, and creative contributions to the content. https://youtu.be/OBS6AMGdBfU Why a Zine For HSPs? The underlying vision is to integrate and normalise high sensitivity in everyday life. I want to create space to slow down and show how highly sensitive lenses offer a valuable and transformative way of seeing and holding ourselves, one another, and the culture we swim in. But also to invite a playful spirit that helps us hold on to life with lightness and humour. I firmly believe that by creating an environment that allows sensitivity to flourish and express itself, we can catalyse profound personal and societal transformation. This approach to change is not a grand, booming endeavour, but a subtle, infectious one. As we embrace our own sensitivity, we naturally grant others permission to come to their own senses, leading to new ways of seeing, feeling, and engaging with the world that reflect their unique sensitivity and potential. I'm currently unsure how often I will publish the Coming To Our Senses zine. My initial desire is monthly, but every two or three months might be more sustainable. All editions (and versions) are available to download in The Haven membership. Non-members can read and listen to the latest issue here. The First Issue of Coming To Our Senses You can hear the first issue (Tranquility) in this Gentle Rebel Podcast episode. Read the written edition here, and watch the video/audio version on YouTube. I hope you enjoy it! I'd love to know what you connect with and would potentially like more of in this zine of HSPs. Leave a comment or drop me a message. And if you like it, please do share it with others!

If you've been a part of my community for a while, you know that intuition is one of my favorite topics to discuss. This is why I'm so excited to sit down with Jill L. Ferguson, serial entrepreneur, best-selling author, and international speaker, to talk about embracing your intuition and following a non-linear path in business and, perhaps even more importantly, life. Jill started her first business at the age of eighteen and has been in-and-out of self-employment ever since, authoring dozens of books and exploring different passions, from painting & photography to consulting & coaching. She learned early on that there's no straight path to entrepreneurship, but along the way she has learned the importance of following your gut, saying yes to opportunities, and learning to trust yourself. Jill believes that all of us - especially Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) and empaths - were born with divine creativity within us. Yet, in a world that's so focused on “staying on track,” cultivating a strong sense of self and giving yourself permission to explore is no easy feat. Jill and I have a vulnerable and insightful discussion today about unpacking people-pleasing, taking creative action, and living authentically. If you find it hard to give yourself permission to do things your own way, you'll undoubtedly learn a lot and walk away inspired from this episode.    Topics: The idea that we're put on a linear path as small children and that even though many linear notions are ingrained in our brains, entrepreneurship, life, religion, education, relationships - none of it has to be linear  Recognizing when you're making choices to fulfill other people's expectations vs. your own and learning to trust yourself  Giving up on the notion that you have to run your business a certain way to be successful and building processes that feel authentic to you  Living as a human being, not a human doing, and embracing passion, openness, and creativity  Learning to block out the noise around you, connect deeper with your intuition, and approach life playfully     Episode Resources: Join us on April 15th at 12pm ET for our monthly Non-Networking Power Hour for Empath Entrepreneurs with our UNBOUNDED Mastermind Community for deep connections and meaningful support.   Connect with Jill: Website  Facebook  Instagram: @ferguson4473 LinkedIn     Connect with Catherine: Apply to join the free Unbounded Mastermind community, a vibrant group of empathpreneurs who are passionate about supporting each other on our entrepreneurial journeys.  Website LinkedIn Instagram YouTube Sign up to receive my weekly digest on empathic entrepreneurship and hear from voices committed to spreading this message, sent straight to your inbox every Friday since 2016, here.    Work with Catherine: Interested in working 1:1 with a certified coach on Catherine's team, or joining her in one of her premium mastermind programs? How do we hear God's voice? Perhaps the best way to describe the forms of Holy Spirit communication is by starting with the human forms we're familiar with. This includes all of our senses! So we can hear God's voice, but we can also see it, taste it, smell it and feel it! On this episode of the show, we focus on hearing God through our “spiritual senses” with prophet and pastor Maria Mason. You'll learn about: Maria's back story, from being raised in a Catholic family to walking away from God and later, coming to terms with her experiences of seeing in the Spirit realm from the age of five. The variety of sensory ways we can hear from God. Just as we have sight, hearing, touch, taste and feeling as our five natural senses, we have five senses in the spiritual ream - spiritual eyes, spiritual ears, spiritual taste, spiritual smell and spiritual touch. “God is a god of variety. It is the Father's intention that each person has their sensory realm opened up.” How God uses “Spirit feelings” to communicate. For example intercessors can receive "intel" from God through their emotional selves by tuning into God's heart for a situation. There are plenty of examples of this in Scripture, such as with Jeremiah - the weeping prophet, and Isaiah who felt the groans of God. Prophetic people who are tuned into their senses can feel for other people and receive information about them. The importance of emotional healing to sharpen our spiritual senses. “Wounded emotions struggle to feel in a clean way. You get mixed intel…” The profound connection between hearing God's voice and healing. Maria says we need to become "students of our own hearts." She reminds us of the proverb to “watch over your heart with all diligence because from it, springs life” (from Proverbs 4:23). Watching over our hearts includes noticing trigger points that come up and present an opportunity for the Holy Spirit to bring healing. As Jesus said, the Spirit is present to heal the broken-hearted (Luke 4:18). Prophecy is not just for revival - it is one of the tools that God uses to bring emotional healing. “The more our hearts get healed by the Father, the more we can be confident that we are experiencing clear communication in our human relationships and our relationship with God.” The value of “Highly Sensitive People” (HSP). Neuroscientists have discovered that there are some brains (approximately 25% of the population) that are particularly sensitive to stimuli. That is, highly sensitive people are quicker to discern things when they walk into a room. They can be hyper aware of what is going on in relationships and can even sense the presence of demonic forces. HSP people are almost pre-wired to be prophetic! Subscribe to God Conversations with Tania Harris and never miss an episode! About Maria Maria describes herself as a “cultural architect,” who lives to see the Church become powerful in God's presence. Together with her husband Phil, Maria pioneered a community in northern NSW, Australia in 1998 called Tribe Church. She is a recognised prophet and speaks on the subjects of church culture, relationships, leadership, prophetic ministry, worship, community and revival. Maria loves to coach leaders and is an ordained pastor in the Crosslink Network and a member of the Australian Prophetic Council. Her books, “The Glory Community; Building Heaven's Culture on Earth” (Part 1 and 2) and “Heart Prophet: a manual for feelers, seers and heart restorers” are designed to inspire the church to live in the realm of God's glory here on earth.

Drama queens, crybabies, whiners, wet blankets – Highly Sensitive People (HSP) have been labelled all of these things and more, when the truth is, there's a lot of things most people fail to understand about the concept. HSP was originated by Dr. Elaine N. Aron (1996), and it refers to an inherent, biological predisposition some people have to process and perceive information on a much deeper level. If you're an HSP, then you think and feel things with greater intensity, in a way that many others can't understand. Sometimes, HSP are mistaken as empaths. Do you know someone who might be an HSP? Were you told as a child "stop being so sensitive", or felt the need to apologize for your sensitive + soft Nature? In a world that does not revere + respect sensitivity, this can leave those of us who are to experience micro-traumas (or as we talked about in Ep. 71, covert traumas) and feelings of aloneness, anxiety, and frustration in not feeling understood and accepted as you are. In a beautiful conversation with Alissa Boyer of the Sensitive and Soulful podcast, you will learn how to overcome this shame of being sensitive and learn how to harness your HSP powers which is the joy and divine gift of deeply experiencing life. As Alissa speaks about, being highly sensitive is a missing barrier between you and the rest of the world, but what if that missing barrier allowed you to access portals that create the visionaries and luminaries of life? For those listening that are not highly sensitive, Alissa also shares guidance for being an ally and how to help those in your life that are highly sensitive feel loved, respected, and accepted for their sensitive nature without being ostracized. By the end of the episode, you will truly be feeling the embodiment of Alissa's teachings which is an "I have my own back" kind of energy to surrender the feeling of being a "canary in a coalmine" (which is one of my fave Police songs, fyi!)  - listen here! In fact, my highly sensitive soul is even crying now writing this listening to this song, LOL. You're too sensitive. You're overreacting. Grow a thicker skin. You take everything so personally. We hear these comments all too often. There's no denying sensitivity is surrounded by stigma. We discourage it in our children, judge it in our peers, and ultimately weaponize it in our relationships with colleagues and family members. While it's not widely understood by the public, sensitivity is an essential human trait. In fact, nearly 1 in 3 people are highly sensitive individuals, and without them, we would not have the theory of evolution, the Declaration of Independence, or Netflix.  Jenn Granneman and Andre Sólo are the force behind the world's largest online communities for sensitive people and introverts, Sensitive Refuge and Introvert, Dear. And they're on a mission to break the negative stigma surrounding sensitivity in their forthcoming book, SENSITIVE (on sale 2/28), unveiling the hidden power of highly sensitive people (HSPs) in our loud, fast, and too-much world. Weaving together actionable advice, relatable anecdotes, and the latest scientific research, SENSITIVE shows readers how leaning into their sensitivity can unlock a powerful “boost effect” to launch them ahead in life. Presenting the empowering idea that sensitivity gives you access to five distinct gifts, Granneman and Sólo offers the tools and insights you need to embrace this undervalued strength and leverage it across the most important areas of your life. In this episode Jenn is revealing: - A clear picture of what it really means to be sensitive and what strengths sensitive people bring to the world - What makes the sensitive brain different — and how it's wired to go deep - How the needs of sensitive people differ from those of less sensitive people and people with autism  - How to transform one of the misunderstood gifts of sensitive people—empathy into a source of world-changing strength - The common misconceptions about sensitive children—and their secret advantage - The powerful traits of sensitive leaders, who are often the most effective leaders of all Are you highly sensitive? ABOUT THE BOOK: A paradigm-shifting look at a long-undervalued yet hugely beneficial personality trait, from the creators of the world's largest community for highly sensitive people   “Don't be so sensitive!” Everyone has a sensitive side, but nearly 1 in 3 people have the genes to be more sensitive than others—both physically and emotionally. These are the people who pause before speaking and think before acting; they tune into subtle details and make connections that others miss. They tend to be intelligent, big-hearted, and wonderfully creative; they are wired to go deep, yet society tells them to hide the very sensitivity that makes them this way. These are the world's “highly sensitivepeople,” and Sensitive is the book that champions them. By the creators of the world's largest community for sensitive people, Sensitive teaches us how to unlock the potential in this undervalued strength and leverage it across the most important areas of our lives: in friendships and relationships, the workplace, leadership, and parenting. Through fascinating research and expert storytelling, Jenn Granneman and Andre Sólo show readers that the way to thrive as a sensitive person is not to hide their sensitivity, but to embrace it—and they demonstrate how to do that in each area of life. Weaving together actionable advice, relatable anecdotes, and the latest scientific research, Sensitive shows readers how leaning in to their sensitivity unlocks a powerful “boost effect” to launch them ahead in life. It hands them the tools and insights they need to thrive as a sensitive person in a loud, fast, too-much world. A powerfully validating, destigmatizing, and practical book, Sensitive plants a gently fluttering flag in the ground for sensitivepeople everywhere. This inspiring book has the power to change—once and for all—how we see sensitive people, and how they see themselves.
