Just My Imagination. In this episode, we read Eugene Peterson's book, Under the Unpredictable Plant, and discuss theological imagination at length. What are the consequences when the church takes its cues from a culture with no imagination? Can Christians tell biblical stories without a theological imagination? What happens when the earthly and heavenly are divided by a lack of imagination into merely rationalized explanations? Hey, what's going on, or should I say oye como va? It may be just another day, but sit yourself down and stay awhile. For all we know, it is just my imagination, but I think the Billboard Top 40 from the Week of April 3rd, 1971 is pretty neat. Maybe it was due to the soul power, but me and Bobby McGee both liked it. "It Was Just My Imagination Running Away With Me" In 1971, The Temptations hit song "Just My Imagination" reached #1 on The US Billboard Top 100, and became one of their signature songs. The lead singer dreams of being with the love of his life, but wakes up to the reality that she doesn't even know him. As I listened, I wrestled with the "temptation" of seeing a runaway imagination as a bad thing. In reality, this can be the key to your success. Listen NOW as we unpack this in a way that will leave you shouting, Thank God It's Monday --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/30minutehour/support

Label: Phil. Int'l. 3521Year: 1972Condition: M-Last Price: $15.00. Not currently available for sale.Listening to this Philly Soul classic again today, I was thinking that the spark of genius at work here, in the collaboration among Kenny Gamble, Leon Huff and Bobby Martin, is precisely the same as that which gave life to the Motown genius of producer/writers like Norman Whitfield & Barrett Strong, with miracles of Soul music such as "Just My Imagination" by the Temptations. Anyway, what I mean is... I love it! Not on the Rolling Stone, Dave Marsh or Kev Roberts lists? I think I'm hearing something those guys don't, cause to me this is a 2-star recommendation (our highest)! Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Philadelphia Int'l Records factory sleeve. Now it's time for a visit with Midday theater critic J. Wynn Rousuck, who joins us each week with her reviews of the Maryland stage. Today, she spotlights the new touring company production of Ain't Too Proud – The Life and Times of The Temptations, lighting up the stage this week only, at Baltimore's historic Hippodrome Theatre. The smash-hit 2019 Broadway musical — nominated for 12 Tony® Awards and the winner of the 2019 Tony Award for Best Choreography — follows The Temptations' extraordinary musical careers from their Detroit roots to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. During a decade of civil unrest and political turmoil, their smart-stepping, smoothly harmonized performances won the group 42 Top Ten Hits — with 14 reaching number one. Ain't Too Proud was written by three-time Obie Award winner Dominique Morisseau, is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys), and features the Tony-winning choreography of Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys, On Your Feet!). The musical also features many of the group's greatest hits, including Ain't Too Proud to Beg, My Girl, Just My Imagination, Get Ready, Papa Was a Rolling Stone, and others. Ain't Too Proud - The Life and Times of the Temptations continues at the Hippodrome Theatre through Sunday, May 8. For showtimes and ticket info, click here.
