Yes, it may be dated, but it's often interesting to go back in time to find out where & what we were at any given moment. When this aired we were waiting with bated breath to find out if there was going to be the predicted Blue Wave. And if that was to be, what, if any, role would America's religious values of both the Left & Right have to do with it? We were blessed with that wonderful wave. It did a soul good to see it. In these episodes we talk with Mark Silk, a great observer of religion in the public square. So let's hearken back to those days of anticipation, as we begin to see the slow demise of The Donald.

As we do every week, newsman Matthew Cooper and Halli engage in their weekly snap, crackle and pop political conversation. And what a week it has been. Since Matt and I recorded last evening The New York Times broke a huge story: President Trump Wanted to Order the Justice Dept. to Prosecute former FBI Director James Comey and his longtime nemesis Hillary Clinton, if carried out a blatant abuse of power; in a surprise move, Rep. Marcia Fudge endorsed Democratic leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi for Speaker in the next Congress, abandoning the idea of challenging her; Sen. Lindsey Graham, one of President Trump's staunchest allies, warned the president on Tuesday that ignoring Saudi Arabia's bad behavior would risk America's moral leadership on the world stage. And, finally, and I really mean finally, Trump sent his answers to Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller, just another week in the storied presidency of Donald J. Trump. Welcome to The Halli Casser-Jayne Show and that's just the beginning. Here we go…

The Democratic victories in the House of Representatives on Tuesday night have obvious policy consequences. But it could have lasting implications for the health of America’s democracy too. Democratic backsliding refers to the subtle, gradual deterioration of democratic institutions and practices, the erosion of elements like free and fair elections, freedom of speech and association, and the rule of law. The Trump administration and its Republican allies have contributed to backsliding, especially by undermining competitive elections and the rule of law. “The checks imposed in the government are much weaker than they were two years ago,” Aziz Huq, a University of Chicago law professor, told me, citing the failure of inspector generals to hold Cabinet officials to account, President Donald Trump’s partisan attacks on prosecutors, and the disinclination of congressional Republicans to meaningfully challenge the president. It’s natural, then, to wonder if the Democratic victory will provide a meaningful check on those trends. The Democratic House would, most obviously, curb Trump’s worst impulses through investigations. Whatever happens in the midterms, the aftermath will be ugly. But the elections are nonetheless a fork in the road. If we take one path, it will offer at least a chance for political redemption, for recovering America’s democratic values. If we take the other, we’ll be on the road to autocracy, with no obvious way to get off. And even if Democrats do climb that tilted slope, anyone expecting Republicans to accept the result with good grace hasn’t been paying attention. Remember, Donald Trump claimed — falsely, of course — that millions of immigrants voted illegally in an election he won. Imagine what he’ll say if he loses, and what his supporters will do in response. And if and when a Democratic House tries to exercise its powers, you can be sure it will be met with defiance, never mind what the Constitution says. Former Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, Brian Peckford, wrote an in-depth blog post on these two issues. He joins the show to elaborate on what he wrote, and the question of what ordinary Canadians can do in the face of these circumstances. Judy Munro-Leighton publically accused Justice Brett Kavanaugh of raping her. She now says that she was lying, that she has never met Kavanaugh. Senator Check Graddley, chairman of the Judiciary Committee has asked the FBI and Department of Justice to prosecute Munro-Leighton for lying and obstructing Congress. The migrant caravan from Central America is making its way toward the Mexico-U.S. border. President Donald Trump is deploying the American military to stop the caravan. Colonel Peter Mansoor shares his thoughts on if this is the right move. In less than 48 hours, the American mid-term elections will begin. #149: Changing the Political Landscape with Ron, Garnet, and Jerry The local political discussion continues with Cellar Door Skeptics as they interview politics at the local level who will help make a difference in our society. The GOP continues to want to claim states rights is the only way to go. Well we feel we need to fight back by taking local politics back while moving Michigan from a hazy red toward a strong blue. The wave is coming and without your voice, we can not change society to be more progressive without you. This week we talk with Ron Draayer running for office in the 72 district, Garnet Lewis in the 26th District, and Jerry in the 89th district. The common theme we talk about is helping the populous of Michigan, while continuing to help those in need. Each candidate focuses on how they can help shape Michigan to be more humanistic in their values while protecting minorities and creating as fair a landscape as possible. Charlotte Clymer, a military veteran based in Washington DC, has come out as trans in a lengthy series of tweets. We’re reprinting the text from the tweets below so you can read her entire story. She also has advice for others on a similar journey, or those who want to know more about trans issues. https://twitter.com/cmclymer/status/936075166072950784 ‘Well, I’m not sure there’s a “right” time to announce something like this, but I’ve reached a point in my life where I finally feel comfortable, for various reasons, to be my true self, and were the world to end tomorrow, I don’t want that truth being buried with me. ‘I’m transgender, which means that although I was assigned “male” at birth based on anatomy, I’ve always felt that, at least on the inside, I’m female. Your “sex” is your designation at birth based on some biological factors; “gender” is how you express your identity. ‘I would love to live in a society that doesn’t have the concept of gender. Sounds like heaven. Be whoever you are, and that’s how people will acknowledge you. But we don’t. We’re given a binary: male or female, boy or girl, man or woman. It’s a system and chosen for you. ‘I want that system to change but in the meantime, for the purposes of navigating it with a sound heart + mind, I have arrived at a place where I can no longer attempt to bend myself into a pre-fabricated shape that looks nothing like who I really am. http://www.gaystarnews.com/article/military-veteran-trans-twitter/#gs.7r67aXc

Normally, Lafayette Park is one of those pretty, history-drenched spots in Washington, where you walk around wondering whose footsteps you might be following. You’re right across from the White House, close enough that you can practically see into the front windows. Now, though, the most important thing to know about this D.C. spot is what Occupy Lafayette Park is?—?because the square might just be full of anti-Trump protestors. Courtesy, @bustle The elections held on Tuesday, November 6, are the first midterms under President Donald Trump, and the stakes for both parties are incredibly high. A fired up Democratic base threatens Republicans’ unified control of federal government?—?and the outcome could have lasting consequences for the remainder of President Trump’s presidency and his legacy. If Democrats do well and flip one or both chambers of Congress, they could slow down Trump and the Republicans’ legislative agenda?—?or open up serious investigations into Trump, his administration, and his associates. But if the GOP retains control of both chambers, they’ll have a shot at introducing sweeping policy changes that could impact our nation for decades to come. Courtesy, @voxdotcom

Power is up for grabs in Washington. A controversial President, an unpopular Congress, and a midterm election all make 2018 a battleground for political control. Who will win? How will they do it? And what role do you play? This is story of the most consequential game ever played, and it’s told by one of the leading Congressional experts of our time. In this episode, Jeffery A. Jenkins teaches us the strategy of legislative power: who has it, how they get it, what they do with it, and why we should care. For more, check out the showpage.

"It's Time to Find a Voting Buddy or What I did On the One Year Anniversary of the Mueller Investigation" We know it's been a while, but we are back talking a bit of history of American voting patterns, third party attempts and why they don't work, what's going wrong in the American political/government system and, of course, the Mueller Investigation because, well, it's his one year anniversary. We look at presidential investigations from the past to see just how long this one is "dragging on!"

Paul Ryan announces his retirement from Congress. He'll serve the remainder of his term, but not seek re-election. This means a new Speaker will be selected in 2019. Democrat or Republican. The narrative is that Ryan jumped ship because Republicans are going to lose the House. Are we too jaded to think he really may just want to spend more time with his family while his kids are still home? White Sox game easily confused with a Hillary rally. Trump tweet about Syria & Russia at the conclusion of this program yesterday. The Left's ideas on how the government can save Facebook. Give me a break. Facebook police. Liability for "objectionable content." And my favorite: ethics review boards! Who thinks the government should be the arbiter of all things ethical?

Go... got a new window, positive forward. Thank you, Lord... this bodes well for pushing ahead... shaming those who oppose Trump, infrastructure, tax reform, healthcare, immigration, and all the rest the democrats oppose. More on the shooting, the failed QAnon and the rest of the irrelevancies. I.e. the Extreme Gun Grabbing Left overplayed their Marxist drivel hand. Hogg is seen as a total asshole, a leftist dupe fool. Who has zero regard for the slain fellow students. Shame all around.Follow The Zeph Report on Facebook To Stay Current With The Latest News and Updates. https://www.facebook.com/ZephReport/ Official WebsiteWWW.ZEPHREPORT.COMhttps://zephdaniel.podbean.com
