You didn't think we'd get through another Minnesota March without a doozy of a snowstorm, did you? Minnesotans across the state woke up Wednesday to several inches of cement-like snow on the ground. Minneapolis, St. Paul and the surrounding Twin Cities region declared snow emergencies and southern Minnesota saw blizzard conditions.Gov. Tim Walz Wednesday morning authorized the Minnesota National Guard to support emergency winter storm operations and help rescue stranded drivers in Freeborn County. By noon, blowing snow was still causing problems on the roads in southern Minnesota. Several highways in the area were closed, including Interstate 90, and no travel was advised for most state highways in multiple southern Minnesota counties.MPR News host Nina Moini talked with MPR News chief meteorologist Paul Huttner for a closer look at the storm and what's next. And Bryan Lillie, maintenance superintendent for MnDOT in south-central Minnesota, shares the latest on road conditions in his region.

When he's not preaching friendly neighborhood socialism, Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Tim Walz was an unfriendly neighborhood fascist when he called out the Minnesota National Guard to ‘light up' regular, law-abiding people in their own homes. In a situation reminiscent of the 2004 attacks on John Kerry, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, is facing Republican criticism over his military service. The Trump campaign has questioned the accuracy of Walz's statements about his service in the Minnesota National Guard, sparking a debate that echoes the "swift boating" attacks on Kerry's Vietnam War record. Background: The "Swift Boating" Strategy The term "swift boating" originated from the 2004 presidential campaign when an outside group, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, questioned Kerry's military honors, including his three Purple Hearts and a Silver Star. The strategy effectively undermined Kerry's image as a war hero and raised doubts about his fitness to lead. Walz's Military Service Timeline Tim Walz served 24 years in the Minnesota National Guard, achieving the rank of Command Sergeant Major. However, he retired as a Master Sergeant for benefits purposes due to not completing certain coursework. His military service included a deployment as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, and his retirement in May 2005 has been scrutinized by Republicans, who claim he retired to avoid deployment to Iraq. Walz's campaign refutes these claims, asserting that his service record is being mischaracterized. Political Implications Democratic strategists argue that the political landscape has evolved since 2004, and such attacks may not have the same impact in today's media environment. The Trump campaign's attempt to revive this tactic, led by adviser Chris LaCivita, who was involved in the original "swift boating" campaign, highlights the enduring nature of military service as a political issue. Key Takeaways Tim Walz's Military Record: Central to the Republican criticism, with claims that he misrepresented his service and retired to avoid deployment. Comparison to John Kerry: The strategy mirrors the 2004 attacks on Kerry, although the effectiveness of this approach in 2024 remains uncertain. Political Landscape: Democrats believe that the changed media environment may blunt the impact of these attacks compared to 2004. #TimWalz #MilitaryRecord #SwiftBoating #JohnKerry #2024Election #TrumpCampaign #Veterans #Democrats #Republicans #PoliticalStrategy #OperationEnduringFreedom #NationalGuardYou can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube. Peter O'Rourke, former Acting Secretary of Veteran Affairs, reacts to the news that Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz declined to deploy to Iraq for combat duty as a high-ranking member of the Minnesota National Guard. “When you're in a guard unit and you get called up by your nation to deploy and to serve in a combat zone, that's the pinnacle of your service especially in a guard unit. And to see your senior enlisted guy decide that his personal ambition was much more important than that unit's ambition, that had to have been a blow to their morale," he says. Today opens with VP Kamala Harris choosing to listen to her anti-Semitic wing of the Democrat Party and ignore selected Governor Josh Shapiro (D-PA) to be her running mate. Instead of trying to lock down a swing state, she chose to run with the self-described Socialist, Governor Tim Walz (D-MN). Since we now have a full slate, it's probably important to look at her choice. Honestly, he is a perfect complement to her radical Marxist designs on our nation. They see eye-to-eye on their disdain for the US Constitution and their desire to fundamentally transform us into their Authoritarian/Marxist paradise. The phrase ‘show me your history and I will show you who you are' comes in handy when we look at Gov. Walz. And, we don't need to go back too far in terms of his positions and how he has governed. But, we do need to go back to just after the terror attack on 9/11 to give you the true, full picture of just who he is. His story with the Minnesota National Guard is a massive disgrace, which is yet another reason Kamala chose him. In the modern Democrat party, you fail upwards. And, if you are fully indoctrinated in Wokeism, you can make it all the way to the top of the party's ticket. Senator JD Vance calls them an interesting “tag team.” In his words, the Governor let people burn Minneapolis to the ground and the few who were arrested got bail assistance pushed by Harris. What a team! State Representative Lisa Demuth (R-MN) has a few things she wants us to know about Walz's accomplishments in his term. He has squandered over $18 billion in state surplus. The cost of living continues to sky-rocket. And, looking at children at the 3rd grade reading level, 53% were not able to read at that level. Tulsi Gabbard commented on the very subject I've mentioned many times before. She warns of the un-elected cabal behind the scenes currently running our government. The Harris campaign is employing fake social media and false ads to fool the American people. One example of that is the X group, Republicans against Trump. Unfortunately, the people claiming to be part of the GOP are nothing more than Democrats who have no problem lying on camera. In a final wrap-up, cackling Kamala told an audience that we all need to go Woke, while Donald Trump tells us that Woke turns everything to crap, a House Panel is expanding it's probe into ActBlue, and the International Boxing Association held a press conference in Paris. Apparently, the two boxers competing as women had two separate tests each and both came back as XY chromosomal individuals. They both had a chance to appeal and both declined. If you are fortunate, you've had the opportunity to know or meet a World War II Veteran. With those still living well into their 90's, these national treasures are few and far between and as part of The Greatest Generation, helped change the fate of the world nearly 80 years ago.Dave Morse was blessed to spend many days of his childhood with his grandfather, who served in World War II. With his father being a Vietnam Veteran, service was something instilled in the young boy at an early age and he knew that he too wanted to serve his country when he grew up.Being from the Midwest, it was only natural that the two elder Morses took young David to the blind and he was bitten by the waterfowl bug not long after he learned to ride a bike. A man of integrity and strong faith, Dave credits his late grandfather for the man he has become as he continues to serve in the Minnesota National Guard. An unexpected deployment to Iraq shortly after his college career began, the then 19 year old grew up in a hurry and is thankful for his time in the desert. Unfortunately, like so many who fought the Global War on Terrorism, too many of his fellow soldiers were lost to suicide after returning home and Morse was led to do something about it.In 2008, Dave began getting some of his friends struggling with PTSD into hunting and fishing and instantly saw the life changing benefits of those experiences. Starting the Wounded Warriors Guide Service in 2009, his passion for the outdoors would lead to an opportunity to start American Heroes Outdoors TV a few short years later. Working as a manager at Grand Forks Scheels, the dots connected quickly and the show continues to impact the lives of the Military, Law Enforcement and First Responder communities today. In the summer of 2022, emails led to phone calls which culminated in an invitation to HHAUSA Mission 24 last month outside of Madison to Dave and three other Minnesota National Guardsmen. The quartet competed and won the team event at The Beastmode Archery Endurance Race. They thoroughly enjoyed their weekend and plan to return in 2024 as their mission grows.I am blessed to now call Dave Morse a friend, a brother in Christ, and look forward to continue working together to make a difference. It sounds redundant but I feel like our respective organizations are just getting started and the sky is truly the limit to what we can do together. To learn more about American Heroes Outdoors TV, visit their website at https://www.americanheroesoutdoors.com and check them out on Bally Sports North, Midco Sports, Waypoint TV, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. For more information about HHAUSA and how you can support our mission, visit www.hhausa.orgTo purchases HHAUSA hats, shirts, challenge coins and tumblers, visit www.hhasports.com
