An episode from East River Baptist Church, a conservative, independent body of King James Bible believers located on the Northeast side of Houston, Texas. East River Baptist Church's (ERBC) mission as an assembly is threefold: - To Exalt the Saviour! Eph. 3:21 - To Edify the Saints! Eph. 4:16 - To Evangelize the Sinners! Lk 24:47 What ERBC believes about the Scriptures: “We believe that the scriptures of both Old and New Testament are verbally inspired of God, that they are the supreme and final authority for faith and practice, and are preserved in the Authorized Version (KJV 1611) of the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16. Psalm 12:6-7.” What ERBC believes about God: “We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. That God is supreme in His person, absolute in His attributes, glorious in His perfection, and eternal in His being. 1 John 5:7.” What ERBC believes about Jesus: “We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ. His conception by the Holy Spirit, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His death on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, His bodily resurrection, His exaltation at God's right hand, and His personal imminent, pre-millennial, and pre-tribulation return. Matthew 1:20. 2 Corinthians 1:21. Ephesians 1:7. Luke 24:6, 39. 1 Timothy 2:5.” What ERBC believes about Holy Spirit: “We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, one with the Father and the Son, the indweller of every believer to enlighten, guide, and enable him in life, testimony, and service, and seal each believer until the day of redemption of the body. John 15:26. John 14:7” What ERBC believes about man: “We believe that God created man in His image and likeness (a triune being: spirit, soul, and body) in a state of innocence's, but through temptation, he willingly transgressed, became dead in trespasses and sins. As a result, his posterity (all men) inherited a corrupt nature, are born in sin, and are under condemnation. Genesis 1:26. Psalm 51:5. Romans 5:12.” A message from ERBC to you: “If you are looking for a church in the Houston Texas area that preaches the Truth from God's Word, reach out to us at any time. Catholic Church CatechismArticle 8 The Eighth CommandmentTHE EIGHTH COMMANDMENTYou shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.252It was said to the men of old, "You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn."2532464 The eighth commandment forbids misrepresenting the truth in our relations with others. This moral prescription flows from the vocation of the holy people to bear witness to their God who is the truth and wills the truth. Offenses against the truth express by word or deed a refusal to commit oneself to moral uprightness: they are fundamental infidelities to God and, in this sense, they undermine the foundations of the covenant.https://www.vatican.va/content/catechism/en/part_three/section_two/chapter_two/article_8.html#:~:text=You%20shall%20not%20bear%20false%20witness%20against%20your%20neighbor.&text=It%20was%20said%20to%20the,Lord%20what%20you%20have%20sworn.%22&text=2464%20The%20eighth%20commandment%20forbids,in%20our%20relations%20with%20others. The Catholic Bible includes several scriptures that relate to the Eighth Commandment, including Exodus 20:15 and Exodus 20:16: Exodus 20:15 "You shall not steal". This verse is interpreted to mean that taking something that belongs to someone else, or withholding something that is owed, is a violation of the Eighth Commandment. Exodus 20:16 "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor". This verse is interpreted to mean that one should explain things to their neighbors in a kind manner. Ephesians 4:28 "Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need". This verse is interpreted to mean that the Eighth Commandment includes principles of integrity, industry, and giving to others. The Eighth Commandment is interpreted to have a number of implications, including: Property ownership The Eighth Commandment provides a foundation for private property ownership, accountability, and stewardship. Misrepresenting the truth The Eighth Commandment forbids misrepresenting the truth in relationships with others. Confidentiality The Eighth Commandment requires confidentiality in some situations, such as when medical records or internal government information need to be kept private.

The operation, called Big River Services International, sells around $1 million a year of goods through e-commerce marketplaces including eBay, Shopify, Walmart and Amazon AMZN 1.49%increase; green up pointing triangle.com under brand names such as Rapid Cascade and Svea Bliss. "We are entrepreneurs, thinkers, marketers and creators," Big River says on its website. "We have a passion for customers and aren't afraid to experiment." What the website doesn't say is that Big River is an arm of Amazon that surreptitiously gathers intelligence on the tech giant's competitors. Born out of a 2015 plan code named "Project Curiosity," Big River uses its sales across multiple countries to obtain pricing data, logistics information and other details about rival e-commerce marketplaces, logistics operations and payments services, according to people familiar with Big River and corporate documents viewed by The Wall Street Journal. The team then shared that information with Amazon to incorporate into decisions about its own business. ... The story of Big River offers new insight into Amazon's elaborate efforts to stay ahead of rivals. Team members attended their rivals' seller conferences and met with competitors identifying themselves only as employees of Big River Services, instead of disclosing that they worked for Amazon. They were given non-Amazon email addresses to use externally - in emails with people at Amazon, they used Amazon email addresses - and took other extraordinary measures to keep the project secret. They disseminated their reports to Amazon executives using printed, numbered copies rather than email. Those who worked on the project weren't even supposed to discuss the relationship internally with most teams at Amazon. An internal crisis-management paper gave advice on what to say if discovered. Kiting is the fraudulent use of a financial instrument to obtain additional credit that is not authorized. Kiting encompasses two main types of fraud: Issuing or altering a check or bank draft, for which there are insufficient funds and Misrepresenting the value of a financial instrument to extend credit obligations or increase financial leverage.kiting typically involves passing a series of checks at two or more banking institutions, using accounts that have insufficient funds. Relying on the float time required for a check deposited at one bank to clear at another, the kiter typically writes a check at the first bank against an account at the other. Before that check clears, they then withdraw the funds from the second bank account and deposit the funds back into the first. The process may then be repeated in the opposite order, sometimes repeatedly. The net result is a series of fraudulent withdrawals that rely on being a step ahead of the fraudulent check on which they are based having cleared.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/investment-terms--4432332/support.

Back from a mini-sabbatical as I write my NMSU Basketball book to get it out ASAP. I discuss Bank of America's role in Don Van Natta's AWESOME story about the turmoil with the Washington Commanders team and the beef minority owners had with the main owner, Dan Snyder. At the center is a $55 Million Loan that Snyder took out with the NFL's backing without informing his partners, which is leading to an even bigger beef, and also has the feds looking into Snyder for falsifying information. Don can handle the NFL side of things, but I wanted to give my two cents worth on BofAs role, and how they likely felt pressured to do the loan without proper paperwork justifying the loan as to not lose trust in Snyder, his team or the NFL as a whole. I explain why the paperwork matters. I give an example of how an LLC signer can theoretically steal from his partners by creating another LLC and move money elsewhere, and the bank would not be on the hook for it. Plus, I talk about a lawsuit that alleges BofA gave incorrect information to business owners who applied for PPP Loans in 2020. American Banker has the story. (Paywalled, but you can read it for free with an email address) It was said in the complaint that the business owners were told 1099 employees were included in the calculating of PPP Loans, when they are not, leading to people not getting their whole loan forgiven as a result of information. I explain why businesses have an uphill battle to fight on this one, although I explain how BofA used branch employees working from home during COVID to test PPP Loans, when that was not their field of expertise. I also explain how goals/high sales pressure tactics likely had a hand in it as well. Sofia Gavrilova's Russia's Regional Museums: Representing and Misrepresenting Knowledge about Nature, History and Society (Routledge, 2022) presents the results of extensive research into the very interesting phenomenon of local museums—kraevedschskyi museums—in Russia's regions. It outlines how numerous such museums are, how long they have existed, what they display, and how this has changed, or not, from Soviet times up to the present. It shows how the museums' displays often are about nature, history, and society. It goes on to discuss how what is portrayed represents particular interpretations of knowledge— including the heroism of the Soviet past, a colonial-style view of Russia's very many non-Russian people, and the failure to mention things which might present Russia in a critical way. The book is much more than ‘museum studies': it sheds a great deal of light on how Russians think about themselves and about how this self-view is fostered, and it also highlights the vast regional differences which exist in Russia. What Does the Bible Say? every Sunday 6pm on AcceleratedRadio.Net
We discuss the individual and collective consequences of misrepresenting God whether it be his word or nature.
Declining response rates for polls mean we must rely on the shrinking minority of Americans that agree to be interviewed to represent the broader public. Josh Clinton finds that Democrats were more likely to agree to be interviewed than Republicans or Independents in 2020. Common corrections could not compensate, as the partisans who do respond aren't representative of those who don't. Amnon Cavari finds that the people who refuse to participate in polls are less educated and less interested in politics. This means our measures of polarization overestimate partisan differences by speaking only to the highly engaged. We rely on public opinion surveys, but small response biases can paint a misleading picture. Guests: Josh Clinton, Vanderbilt University; Amnon Cavari, Reichman University Studies: “Reluctant Republicans, Eager Democrats?” and “Survey Nonresponse and Mass Polarization.”
What science? - Misrepresenting science - No end to silliness - Real science - Science fiction - Is it science? The swamp, the cesspool
