On this episode, Sean and Marc are joined by Jens Dietrich as he gives his thoughts and impressions of his time with Hogwarts Legacy. Does it live up to the hype brought on by the mammoth franchise? Is it unique for fans of the series? Could non-fans play it as well? Jens answers these questions, and much more. (* Writer's Note: We are fully aware of the issues brought on by the creator and author of the Harry Potter IP against the LGBTQIA + community, specifically comments that have been made against Trans and Jewish persons. We are vehemently against and DO NOT condone those statements and words by said person. Jens is discussing his playtime with the video game and making judgments based on solely on it being a video game. There is no ill will meant towards ANYONE for merely discussing Hogwarts Legacy. *) Sean also spent some time with the newly released Sea of Stars Demo and he gives his thoughts on the highly anticipated JRPG inspired by Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI. Plus, Marc has finished Forspoken and gives his final thoughts on the game. Jens also discusses the Third-Person Shooter Evil West as well. The guys of course also breakdown and discuss their favorite announcements from the recent Nintendo Direct. How shocking is it that Metroid Prime Remaster was shadow-dropped and at $40? Is anyone wowed by the latest trailer for Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and that it will be $70? What about Pikmin 4, Bayonetta Origins, and the other games were shown off? Also, Nintendo says it is now in uncharted territory with the Switch, could it finally be time for a new system? SEGA goes Neptunia in their new mobile game with Yoko Taro, and much more. In this episode of Boku No Stop! we discuss episodes 4-6 of Flip Flappers. Content warning: dementia + rough family stuff with a side of questionable fanservice. This week, the show is firing on all cylinders with some heart-wrenching content, questions about the metaphysics of the Flip Flap world, discussions of art itself, a dive into the yuri genre's tropes and history, and also: casual violence! Cocona, Papika, and Yayaka have gotten themselves in trouble again... Show Notes Apparently Discovery Zone (https://discoveryzone.com) returned from the dead at some point, by which I mean someone bought the name and made a few of them out in Ohio. It's still cool to see it live on, though, and the website will give you a good idea of what this whole concept looks like. I (Sibyl) will never back down from my love of the Neptunia series, and yes, they did just release a JRPG based around the concept of a Sega expy teaming up with Japanese Vtubers in combat (https://ideafintl.com/nep-virtual-stars/). It's fun. Matt gives a good summary of it, but if you want a more detailed take on episode 5 and "Class S" yuri, Anime Feminist has you covered (https://www.animefeminist.com/escape-yuri-hell-flip-flappers-critique-class-s-genre/). If you're listening to an anime podcast, there's a 99.9% chance you've SEEN Pop Team Epic (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_Team_Epic) in passing via memes, if you're unfamiliar. It's either extremely your style or going to push you away with force. I refer to AC-bu as "animators who are talented enough to deliberately make the mistakes they choose" and if you want an excellent summary of their work in passing, this music video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJE1HoHabMw) will explain everything. And Todd talks about FINALLY being able to dive into PC gaming again, and replaying the Batman Arkham series! Then, in the news, Live A Live gets three new character trailers, Astral Chain 2 might be coming next year, Reggie Fils-Aime discussing the lack of online dominance by Nintendo, Sonic Frontiers may be going for a different kind of "goal" with their game quality, and more! And in the main event, the guys do 3rd party hopes on the Nintendo Direct that they hope comes next month! What titles do they NEED to see 3rd party-wise? Dive in and find out! So sit back, relax, and enjoy the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast!
On this week's Pixels & Ink Podcast: Chris, Jordan, and Khari sit down to talk about Netflix losing 200 thousand subscribers and they're placing the blame squarely on you; the viewer. This leads to a discussion about what caused this massive hit to Netflix and how it compares to other streaming services. Afterwards, the gang talks briefly about Amy Henning and Skydance media announcing a new Star Wars game; and they also talk about the reveal trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder—which leads to much speculation about the film, and incredible tangents about the MCU. To bring the news section to a close, the gang talks a bit about the reveal of Sonic Origins—a four-piece remaster of classic Sonic games (the forget to talk about all the ridiculous "special edition" nonsense.) In the review section, Khari has thoughts about The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and Chris has thoughts about Neptunia x Senran Kagura.
For the third time since the pandemic began (and feigned being over) we return to The Stand Comedy Club in Manhattan for a riotously funny live panel in front of a sold-out crowd. Hopefully the third time is a charm re: Covid finally leaving us alone. Guests include comedians Joe DeRosa, Justin Silver, Natalie Cuomo and Sean Patton. What we're drinking throughout is Neptunia, a brand new expression from Hendrick's Gin, and what we're doing throughout is bringing the funny and the raunch.
This week, Sibyl and Garrett just chat for a while about some tokusatsu materials, some toku-adjacent materials, and then, because nobody left an adult in charge, it eventually turns into Hyperdimension Neptunia chat. Do we think that the HDN series counts as toku-adjacent enough to be a backup series? Find out! Show Notes No, Sisters vs Sisters (https://www.gematsu.com/2021/11/hyperdimension-neptunia-sisters-vs-sisters-announced-for-ps5-ps4) isn't anything cursed. It's the new Neptunia game. If you're interested in Sibyl and two other jokers discussing anime, the podcast covering Naoki Urasawa's Monster can be found behind this link (https://www.bokunostop.com/?season=4). Seriously, Stonebot Comics (https://www.stonebotcomics.com) feels like a temporary website on someone's computer in a made for TV movie, but somehow they have multiple Kamen Rider licenses in the west? What the hell?
Was ist mit Call of Duty? Was passiert mit Bobby Kotick? Wie reagiert Sony? We've been hearing rumors of this for months: a remaster of Chrono Cross is in the works. What's the evidence for this and is it real? I'll discuss what facts we do know and speculate when this might happen, if it all. It was a light news week, hence the dive into internet rumors. In actual news we have some first details about last week's lead, Hyperdimension Neptunia: Sisters vs. Sisters. It sounds like a worthy spin off to the Neptunia series. More characters details have surfaced for Atelier Sophie 2 so I'll share them. At the end I'll go over some more details about what's coming for the podcast in 2022 and how subscriptions are going to work. Nothing is changing far as every week content. But if you want more and want to support the JRPG Report, subs and Patreon will allow you to do so. It will be a fun ride I promise. Something to be thankful for: a new podcast and a new Neptunia game is coming next year. Announced for 2022, Hyperdimension Neptunia: Sisters vs Sisters is an action rpg featuring girls old and new. I'll give what little info we have about the game from Compile Heart. It's the day before Thanksgiving here, but we still had plenty to talk about even on a short week. Two new trailers dropped for Atelier Sophie 2 featuring the two main characters: Sophie and Plachta. An 8 eight trailer for Relayer came out today, all about the giant robots you'll be piloting in early 2022. A ton of screenshots for Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness came out this week as well as some info about the game. Check the links below to see them all. I'm really excited for the new mobile entry in the Bravely series (yes I know that's a dangerous game of hope to play). It's not gacha and features new and old characters alike. A full Bravely experience in the palm of your hand could be amazing if done correctly. I'll share what we know so far. I talk about a few more games and the results of the Tales of poll, including who fans like the most and best mascot. Back to Thursday next week!
