This week, Sibyl and Garrett just chat for a while about some tokusatsu materials, some toku-adjacent materials, and then, because nobody left an adult in charge, it eventually turns into Hyperdimension Neptunia chat. Do we think that the HDN series counts as toku-adjacent enough to be a backup series? Find out! Show Notes No, Sisters vs Sisters (https://www.gematsu.com/2021/11/hyperdimension-neptunia-sisters-vs-sisters-announced-for-ps5-ps4) isn't anything cursed. It's the new Neptunia game. If you're interested in Sibyl and two other jokers discussing anime, the podcast covering Naoki Urasawa's Monster can be found behind this link (https://www.bokunostop.com/?season=4). Seriously, Stonebot Comics (https://www.stonebotcomics.com) feels like a temporary website on someone's computer in a made for TV movie, but somehow they have multiple Kamen Rider licenses in the west? What the hell?

Apparently that just kind of decided to kick my butt today. I am The Hipster Snek here with my dear, beloved companions and I apparently sound awful. Going to preemptively apologize.Dietaku: [00:00:21] You sound fantastic, my friend. You should get head colds more often.Cog: [00:00:25] You do, actually. You should do this more often and actually, everybody else normally has really crappy voices when they sound ill. You sound like an octave deeper.Dietaku: [00:00:36] Yeah, you sound fantastic. The Hipster Snek: [00:00:39] Actually, I would normally take that as just like, oh, hey, that's a good tradeoff. But no, I actually just wake up like every two hours during the night coughing. I already took the last Friday off for hopes that I would just get over this. And it just seems worse now. So as I was saying, I'm the Hipster Snek and these are my beloved companions with me today is, of course, world tree cycles.Dietaku: [00:01:09] Or Dietaku whichever. I answer too many names. The Hipster Snek: [00:01:14] Oh, I've introduced you my videos as world tree cycles due to your Twitter handle.Dietaku: [00:01:20] But I am also the Dietaku. I will answer to that, too.The Hipster Snek: [00:01:23] Over here we have Cog of Cog Sound Engineering Links now and all of my videos for the amazing sound editing work this man has put forth.Cog: [00:01:37] I appreciate that.Dietaku: [00:01:38] You know what? You know what? You better be careful after if you put your voice in now into his protocols with your sexy filter, you're just going to be like, it's just going to have the careless whisper. So you better be careful. I'm just saying. The Hipster Snek: [00:01:56] Ladies the Snek is single.Cog: [00:01:58] Oh, man. We're off to a banging start today.Dietaku: [00:02:01] Speaking of banging Neptunia. Yeah? What is it about? The Hipster Snek: [00:02:07] Hyperdimension Neptunia, the full official title. I actually double checked the official title of this. Anime is actually Hyperdimension Neptunia The Animation.Cog: [00:02:15] Probably for best results.Best to have already watched episodes one through twelve. Plus the episode 13 OVA which is the entire series right now.Dietaku: [00:02:29] There's actually David Productions is starting a new series based off of V2.Cog: [00:02:34] Really?Dietaku: [00:02:35] But right now this is the entirety of the Neptunia animation experience. So what is Neptunia? What is Neptunia? Is it a game? Is it a visual novel? Is it a deep sense of shame that your parents feel whenever they're like, hello Son!...Oh, and they walk away? The Hipster Snek: [00:02:52] The best part is, it's all that and so much more. You see Neptunia actually started off as a series of PS3 exclusives of JRPGs and the thing that's really maybe not great, but interesting is that first game in particular pioneered a lot of really previously unseen mechanics and how an RPG will run. And I'll talk more about that in the after hours. But to put a fine point on it, it wasn't really what one might accidentally call a good game on account that it wasn't.Dietaku: [00:03:30] Oh, I think you could accidentally call it a good game because that's not something you intend to do.The Hipster Snek: [00:03:36] Yeah, it's it wasn't really a good game. Now, what it was, was a thing of interest and clearly.Dietaku: [00:03:43] Extremely marketable. The Hipster Snek: [00:03:45] They saw something there that if they polished it and ran with it, they could make something much, much better. In fact, one of the game devs that vouched for Neptunia's authenticity very early on in its life was Keiji Inafune the Megaman guy.[00:04:02] Yes, because the next game in the series and I'm not I'm not pooping on anybody effectively is Breath of Fire 6 before a Breath of Fire 6 became a thing. It used the same battle system as Breath of Fire 5. And you replace the main characters with dragon people. I mean, that's basically what it would be. The main thing is transformation and using a movement based weird hybrid action RPG standard JRPG thing. The Hipster Snek: [00:04:34] The thing of beauty is that every game improves upon that which came before it.Then when it got to its third major game Victory, they ended up having a series of rereleases called the Rebirth series. And those are on steam for those who actually want to play them.Am I going to cover Neptune here on the Snek channel? Eventually, but not immediately. Maybe in 2020. However, after those games are released. David Animation's spend all their money making Jojo part 1 and 2 as awesome as possible, so they had to get cash in the direction as minimal effort as possible. So of course, lowest common denominator equals Hyperdimension Neptunia. Now I'm I'm being half facetious, half facetious.Cog: [00:05:23] It definitely comes across as a budget title.Dietaku: [00:05:25] I wish I could find it because the backlash after David Productions, you know, hit it out of the park with Jojo and then they saw that they were doing Neptunia to the next season. There were people who were butt hurt. And it wasn't just like the Jojo guys. JesuOtaku I remember this very vividly was like extremely put out by it. She's like, I'm not going to watch this anime porn. Like it looks like cute girls doing cute thing anime. I knew nothing about it at the time. And I mean, I was more or less right. Which just proves to you how how high my power level really is. And, you know, actually having got into this series, because here just for point of reference, I have played all the Rebirth games and V2. I have not done anything else. I did not play the original game, nor really am I going to, because going back to the Rebirth games after playing V2, it's like. I really miss V2's battle system. It's just it's so much better. The Hipster Snek: [00:06:33] A thing that does help with context a bit is I'm responsible for these guys knowing that an Neptunia exists. And that's because a friend of mine told me about it. And then I complained at great length that Jojo was being put on hiatus on its account to which I was.Dietaku: [00:06:54] So you were one of the butt hurt guys! The Hipster Snek: [00:06:55] I was! On the onset, I'll be honest from the onset.I was. And that's when my friend challenged me. And he said, Snek, you have to play it before you knock it. You can't just take a swipe at the series that you know nothing about, or you become just another one of those whining internet guys who doesn't have a basis to stand on it. And I said, fine, that's fair.Dietaku: [00:07:20] Yeah. He's got you there, dude. The Hipster Snek: [00:07:22] No, that's fair. That's fair. And then I. And I accepted it. I ran out to GameStop like two days later after that conversation, and I picked up a copy of the first game. I played it. And I was like, that wasn't a great game. This is in no way competition for Monster Rancher 4. But it had my interest and I felt that there was a lot of potential, especially since there are already sequels out. I'm telling the story a little bit of order. I actually play the second game first. The first game I wasn't able to play into later on. And that that puts things in context because like I said mechanically, the first game. It's not exactly great. Mark 2 I played first and I was about halfway through Mark 2 when I got the first.Dietaku: [00:08:08] Which introduced my favorite girl, which is a very important thing I feel right now. We need. Just before we go, because it's such a central aspect of the series. It's time. It is time for the Dietaku Power Hour. This week the gang are talking JRPGs, or Japanese role-playing games to use words. Does a game have to be made in Japan to be a JRPG? Or does it just need bright colours and turn-based battles? We seek to understand the true meaning of the genre by stumbling over dozens of games and deciding whether or not they’re allowed into the JRPG treehouse. Katharine reckons if it isn’t made in Japan, it can get out. Adam thinks the US-made Anachronox counts. And Brendan is happy to apply the label to Undertale, or anything with lots of townspeople to speak to. We conclude our viewing of "Hyperdiemsnion Neptunia" by talking about the series finale. While the 'big boss' of this last arc wasn't anything to write home about, the conclusion of the battle was amazingly satisfying. We talk about the loose ends, what we would have changed, and bounce around some alternative endings. Next up: "Girls und Panzer: der Film!" Lunch Hour Anime Special is a Night of the Living Geeks podcast. Go to www.NOTLG.com for other great shows or show your support for this program at patreon.com/NOTLG.
Today we're talking about episode 11, the penultimate installment, of "Hyperdimension Neptunia." The BIG BAD has finally revealed herself, and we talk about how this show built up the excitement. Or has it, really? And does the video-game-industry allegory still hold true in this final character reveal? Plus, we take some time talking about kind of ending we'd like to see in episode 12. Lunch Hour Anime Special is a Night of the Living Geeks podcast. Go to www.NOTLG.com for other great shows or show your support for this program at patreon.com/NOTLG.
Wait, that story arc just ended? We talk about episode 10 of "Hyperdimension Neptunia" today! After finally getting to see a country at war, the story kinda just ends. We talk about all the other stuff we'd liked to have seen in the Eden War and discuss the resolutions of P-ko and Plutia. Lunch Hour Anime Special is a Night of the Living Geeks podcast. Go to www.NOTLG.com for other great shows or show your support for this program at patreon.com/NOTLG.
We're ready for that last big story arc as we head into episode 9 of "Hyperdimension Neptunia." We talk about the grand reveal of YELLOW HEART who is super powerful because she represents... a system we've never heard of? Alex explains the early Japanese console wars and we debate whether or not the Four Goddesses know what's going on. Lunch Hour Anime Special is a Night of the Living Geeks podcast. YES! IT'S A BEACH EPISODE! At episode 8, we're 2/3 of the way through "Hyperdimension Neptunia." We talk about watching mandatory fan service and beach episodes of anime in the workplace: just how much fan service can get you fired, anyway? Also, with only five episode left, HDN chooses to plop in some filler. When does fan service get in the way of good story? And are we really supposed to care about P-ko? Lunch Hour Anime Special is a Night of the Living Geeks podcast. Go to www.NOTLG.com for other great shows or show your support for this program at patreon.com/NOTLG.
We talk about episode 7 of "Hyperdimension Neptunia" just as soon as Andy stops being totally psyched about the upcomig obligatory beach episode. From that awkward vegetable-related oral scene that took the joke just a little too far all the way to Plutia's complete transformation into a dominatrix, this episode is full. We also talk about the return and transformation of Arfoire as a character before reminiscing about the Sould Calibur franchise. Lunch Hour Anime Special is a Night of the Living Geeks podcast. Go to www.NOTLG.com for other great shows or show your support for this program at patreon.com/NOTLG.
We watch episode six of "Hyperdimension Neptunia," which starts a new arc that seems to center around perving out on women. Hooray, anime! We talk about Vert's creepy behavior with Nepgear, discuss anime's ability to get abstract, and go on a big tangent about One Piece. Lunch Hour Anime Special is a Night of the Living Geeks podcast. Go to www.NOTLG.com for other great shows or show your support for this program at patreon.com/NOTLG.
In episode 5 of "Hyperdimension Neptunia," piracy has been defeated for all time! Yeah, right. We talk about Arfoire's justfications for piracy, Ninento's console experimentation, and Microsoft's quasi-ability to claim PC gaming as its realm, too. Plus, Japanese anime is really perverted! Lunch Hour Anime Special is a Night of the Living Geeks podcast. Go to www.NOTLG.com for other great shows or show your support for this program at patreon.com/NOTLG.

Breakdown: This show is just a week late, not a dollar short. Very sorry for the delay, but it’s part of a double feature! Enjoy! We have guests Justin Graffius and Jarrett Green this week, to discuss literally every JRPG ever. Game talk this week is MASSIVE. There is Tales of Xillia 2, Hyperdimension Neptunia, Sword Art Online, Fire Emblem, Diablo 3, Cave Story, and much more. A little bit of something for everyone. We skip news completely this week, because there wasn’t any really. In emails/voicemails we have a fun little divergence, and discuss all the amazing dumb movie-related stories that we have to share. Then we cast the IP movie universe. The last of this year’s Korra Talk takes its spot at the end of the show. Thank you to all who’ve participated! NewsRicapitoliamo la situazione degli anime al cinemaRicapitoliamo la situazione dello streaming gratuito (e legittimo)Due Top5 non fanno 10 titoliThe Garden of Words (Sarulandia)Wolf ChildrenDragon Ball Z: La battaglia degli DeiKyoukai no Kanata (FairyTail Fansub)Arpeggio of Blue Steel (AnimeForce)Saint Seiya Ω (Naruto Shippuden Storm)Magi: The Kingdom of Magic (Naruto Italian Team)Kill La Kill (Daisuki)Silver Spoon (PopcornTv)Tanto per citare altroPsycho Pass (PopcornTV)Gatchaman Crowds (PopcornTV)Monogatari Series: Second Season (Akuma Subs)Time of Eve (Crunchyroll)Pokémon: Le originiCoppelion (PopcornTV)Watamote (AnimeDreamland)Hyperdimension Neptunia (FairyTail Fansub)High School of the Dead (Yamato Animation)Capitan HarlockSword Art Online (PopcornTV)Tokyo Ravens (Anime Magic Fansub)Log Horizon (AnimeForce)Strike The Blood (Anime Magic Fansub)Unbreakable Machine Doll (AnimeForce)Golden Time (AnimeForce)Yuusha ni Narenakatta Ore wa Shibushibu Shuushoku wo Ketsui Shimashita (AnimeForce)Abbonati direttamente da iTunesSeguici su Google CurrentsConsulta la produzione di VGNetworkLink Diretto all'MP3La nostra pagina di FacebookI nostri accunt Twitter @DjPralla @PsykoTiaScrivici passioneanimemanga@gmail.com
