Jay takes us through the grueling journey to join these elite units—from passing the legendary Cooper Test to mastering high-pressure scenario training. His insights reveal how martial arts, mental sharpness, and evolving tactics shape what it truly means to be part of these specialized teams. But this conversation goes beyond the badge. Jay stresses the importance of continuous education and rigorous testing to keep officers at their best, a principle I strongly support for all healthcare and wellness professionals. He also shares his deep commitment to mental health, detailing his work with outreach programs tackling substance abuse and homelessness—reminding us that wellness isn't just physical, but also mental and community-centered. Together, we dive into holistic wellness approaches, the role of training regimens, and how modern policing must adapt to new technologies and social dynamics. Whether you're curious about law enforcement or passionate about health and resilience, this episode offers valuable lessons on discipline, self-care, and the evolving nature of service. Wellness and Training: Advocates for a structured fitness regime combined with combat training and the integration of mental health strategies for enhanced performance. Future of Law Enforcement: Predictions about technological advancements in policing, potentially involving drones and robotics amid a declining workforce interest. Community and Mental Health: Describes his role in the mental health outreach initiative and his dedication to supporting peers and community members with mental health challenges. Can fish oil really transform your health? In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Charles Sefcik, a board-certified chiropractic neurologist and certified clinical nutritionist, to explore one of the most powerful and underrated tools in functional medicine: omega-3s. We break down how EPA and DHA support your brain, hormones, metabolism, and inflammation pathways—and why most people aren't getting nearly enough from food alone. We also share what to look for in a quality fish oil supplement, how to avoid common pitfalls like oxidation and poor sourcing, and why testing your fatty acid levels can make all the difference. Packed with clinical insight and real-world advice, this conversation is a must-listen for anyone looking to use nutrition as a foundation for long-term health Key Takeaways: Omega-3 fatty acids are critical for cell membrane fluidity, reducing inflammation, and enhancing cognitive function. Fish oil quality matters; choose supplements devoid of contaminants like mercury and PCBs and go for third-party certified products. Omega-3s have a profound impact on reducing neuroinflammation and supporting hormone function, influencing overall brain health and longevity. Regular testing, like the OmegaQuant, can provide valuable insights into your fatty acid balance, guiding effective supplementation and dietary adjustments. Combining omega-3 supplements with a healthy diet and lifestyle can prevent chronic diseases, promote muscle synthesis, and ensure optimum brain health.   More About Dr. Charles Sefcik: Dr. Charles Sefcik is a board certified chiropractic neurologist, certified clinical nutritionist, founder and clinical director of the Life Enhancement Clinic in Bismarck, ND. He is a faculty member of the Continuing Education Department at Northwestern Health Sciences University. Title:  During this episode of Fast Lane with Sara Jayne, Sara talks with Josh Kauder at NutriDyn. Sara and Josh talk about the benefits of supplements, but also the importance of knowing what you are taking, ensuring quality and effectiveness, and meeting your health and wellness needs. Also, Josh discusses the process NutriDyn goes through when introducing a new product and how each supplement is tested before being sold. Episode Highlights: NutriDyn is a family-owned business founded in 1973 that focuses on healthcare practitioners and using clinically-effective formulas. It is based out of Minnesota but is a worldwide company. How is NutriDyn different from other supplements?Often, supplements found in stores do not meet their label claims or contain added ingredients.Sara recommends a fish oil supplement to most of her patients. The Omega Pure fish oil supplement is one of the most popular NutriDyn offers.NutriDyn runs third-party tests, not internal tests, on every single lot of their Omega Pure line. How do you come up with a new product?Josh notes that people should not expect “quick fixes” or immediate results. Conditions often build over a long time, and you can’t expect it to get better overnight.Prescription medications have their place, but long-term may just be “masking” the problem instead of fixing it.The soil is different now than it was 40-50 years ago, which has also affected the nutritional value of the foods we eat.Sara notes that she wants to help people be better, but also doesn’t want to put down the things people are already doing.Josh brings up how people with pre-existing conditions are at greater risk of Covid-19, but that this also applies to many more things.Josh reiterates that every product they sell is third-party tested, and coming out with new products is a very lengthy process.Josh shares a brief story about how the purity of the supplement can really affect the results on someone’s health. What do you think about kids taking supplements? What do you think about when people see promotions along the lines of “All women/men need this!”? 3 Key Points:When choosing a supplement, it’s important that the ingredients are pure and that it contains a therapeutic dose. Some nutrients have different forms, and many companies will use the cheaper or less pure one in their formulas. When it comes to kids taking supplements, do what you can when you can and try to create healthy habits they can carry into the future.Resources Mentioned: Fast Lane FacebookFast Lane on Apple PodcastsNutriDyn WebsiteNutriDyn Omega PureJosh's LinkedInOmegaQuant TestingKlein Chiropractic & Wellness, P.C.Klein Chiropractic Facebook
