In many ways, the media and journalism industry has become almost totally disfigured over the past two decades. Yet inside Clemson's Sports Communication program there are students who find a multitude of ways to distinguish themselves. Grayson Mann is a senior who has spent his time at college starting his own podcast, writing for Tigerillustrated.com, doing video play-by-play for North Greenville basketball, and covering high school games for a local newspaper. Toby Corriston is a freshman who has already developed quite a portfolio of photography, writing and stand-up video he does on his own after Clemson sporting events. Where is the media industry heading? No one can predict that. But Mann and Corriston, who both serve as interns at Tigerillustrated.com, are positioning themselves to be marketable on a multitude of platforms post-graduation. Mann and Corriston visit with The Dubcast to share how they got to this point, and what they aspire to do hereafter.

In today's episode coach Jen and coach Aaron are joined by Ryver Gray, a player on Aaron's team, along with Dawson Taylor and John Michael Feld, who are college players and friends of Slide podcast team member Bryson Mitchell. Ryver is 7 years old and is one of the winners of our Umpire appreciation contest. He loves to catch and play outfield and thinks baseball is a fun way to exercise. Ryver is also playing on another team in Travel Ball, where it's a little faster and harder. His favorite memory of the game is hitting a home run. The best thing about Ryver is that he loves to play anywhere on the team; it doesn't matter which position as long as he's playing. Dawson is a pitcher, while John plays a catcher for the University of North Greenville. They recently won a National Championship together. Greenville is a Division 2 school and played a Californian school in the championship. John started out playing baseball at around 3 years old. The difference between him and other kids was that his parents wouldn't let him play all year in case he got burnt out on baseball. The complete opposite, Dawson played year-round. However, they both played multiple sports. Dawson continued this through high school, whereas John picked one sport to focus on at age 12. When it comes to game prep, they will watch some film and break it down, but it's more often one-on-one with the coach. John and Dawson want kids to understand that it takes a lot of work to be in the big leagues. Don't be upset if you can't be just like them when you start. Practice every day and have fun. In 14 years of marriage, Kelli Staggs has played mom, teacher and coach's wife in seven moves at six universities. Working alongside some of football's most renowned families, including Lou Holtz's and Steve Spurrier's, the Staggs have had a hand in growing football programs at the University of South Carolina, Charleston Southern, Furman and North Greenville.Perhaps the wildest ride, however, is the latest stop on what Kelli calls their coaching carousel: Coastal Carolina University. This "little team that could" was expected to finish last in its conference; instead, the Chanticleers are among the top 15 teams in college football. This week, Kelli will watch as ESPN GameDay rolls into Conway, South Carolina to see it all in person.Naturally, I asked her the important questions: How hard is it to find teal for game days? How old do you feel being around 19-year-old girls who'd have laughed at our tailgate sundresses? We also touch on the importance of putting down roots, even if you only call a city home for a short time; how to build community; what it means to support your spouse's career; surviving a pandemic without losing your mind or your marriage; and Judy Garland's nightmare momager. (I'm not sure how or why that last topic popped up, but I'm hoping it's part of But Not All At Once's charm?)As always, you can join the conversation at @butnotallatonce. Talk to you next week!

The inaugural inagural interview of 123 Inning College Baseball Podcast is with North Greenville head coach, Landon Powell. Powell has turned about the one time cupcake Crusader club into one of DII's top teams as they've won over 90 games over the past two seasons and spent much of 2019 as the top ranked team. Prior to being a coach Powell was a standout college player himself, recieving All American status at South Carolina as helped the Gamecocks reach Omaha and the College World Series three times. He was drafted in the first round by Oakland and spent three seasons in the MLB with the Athletics. However what makes him such an interesting and enlightening interview goes well beyond anything he has accomplished in the dugout or on the diamond. His once promising professional career was derailed as he battled chronic injury and a liver disease. As he was attempting a comeback in the New York Mets organization, his five month old daughter Izzy died from a rare autoimmune disease. Despite the setbacks his character and faith have persevered and he has transformed the obstacles and setbacks he has faced into a driving force which makes him a highly respected coach and mentor to the next generation of ballplayers.
