Peacekeepers avoid conflict at all costs, minimize problems, and often sacrifice their own needs for artificial harmony. Meanwhile, peacemakers have the courage to engage with difficult issues while maintaining compassion and respect.Through my own journey recovering from betrayal, I discovered that my so-called peacekeeping was actually preventing genuine healing and connection. I share the telltale signs you might be a peacekeeper, including feeling responsible for managing everyone else's emotions, walking on eggshells to avoid triggering others, and suffering in silence rather than addressing problems directly.Most importantly, I offer practical guidance for shifting from peacekeeping to peacemaking: identifying your triggers, setting healthy boundaries, practicing difficult conversations, and creating safe spaces where vulnerability is welcomed rather than punished. Over 200 Kenyan police officers have been deployed to Haiti over the weekend. This is the third batch of police from Kenya under the United Nation's Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti. Kenya's interior ministry said the additional officers will help fight violent gangs that have taken over the troubled Caribbean nation. Maureen Ojiambo reports

The chief of staff of Ireland's defence forces has said Irish troops will "stay strong" in the face of Israeli orders to leave their positions following a spate of attacks on UN outposts. President Biden asks Israel to stop firing at UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, after the IDF said its troops were responsible for an incident in which soldiers were injured. Also: Boeing to cut 10% of its workforce.

The UN Secretary General António Guterres has condemned Israel's firing on positions held by UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon. The United Nations said its peacekeeping forces in southern Lebanon came under attack by Israeli forces. Israel invaded last month to press its military campaign against Hezbollah militants. The UN peacekeeping force is charged with keeping the border between Lebanon and Israel quiet and demilitarized on the Lebanese side. Special correspondent Leila Molana-Allen reports.
