In the first half, Michael Cremo, an authority on archaeological anomalies, discussed the complex history of human evolution and the coexistence of various hominid species. He reported on the recent discovery of Homo Juluensis-- a new species of ancient human found by archaeologists in China. From skull fragments from around 200,000 years ago, they have calculated that this species' brain volume or cranial capacity was higher than that of modern humans. Though the beings were believed to be around six ft. tall, Cremo pointed out they may be genetically linked to the much smaller Homo floresiensis out of Indonesia, who have been nicknamed the "Hobbit."Cremo expressed skepticism about the linear progression of human evolution often taught in schools, stating, "the real pattern added up to coexistence of various types of hominids." Up to about 800,000 years ago, humans coexisted with other species like Homo erectus and the Denisovans, he said, suggesting that these interactions may have led to interbreeding, as evidenced by the DNA remnants found in modern humans.Cremo also shared intriguing archaeological finds that challenge our understanding of human history, including a reportedly 50-million-year-old object discovered in a mine in France in the 19th century that was possibly used as a weapon, similar to a slingshot. These types of findings indicate a very ancient human presence going back millions of years, he said, emphasizing that such artifacts are typically associated with anatomically modern humans, not earlier hominids.--------------In the latter half, the President and co-founder of a leading online obituary website, Mandy Benoualid, discussed her passion for honoring legacies and the evolving landscape of the funeral industry, including new technology forms. She recounted the inspirations that led her to create Keeper, an online platform allowing families to document and share their loved one's stories. This initiative has grown, particularly post-COVID, with increased interest in "living memorial pages," where individuals can share their stories before passing.Discussing the shift in funeral practices, Benoualid declared that "cremation has just completely changed the way that we have funerals today," with far fewer of the bereaved choosing open caskets and viewings. She highlighted the growing trend of direct cremation and the competitive pricing that has emerged in the industry. She also touched on how the funeral industry has seen a great deal of consolidation, with larger companies buying out the "Mom & Pop" funeral homes. Regarding the financial aspects, she revealed that a full-service funeral can average around $10,000, excluding plot costs.Speaking of the transformative impact of technology on funerals, she noted how the process has shifted online. "You can plan a full cremation service without ever going anywhere," she explained, pointing out the convenience of digital platforms for managing funeral arrangements, including services held over Zoom. Further, QR codes can be placed on tombs and monuments in cemeteries, allowing people to learn details about the lives of the departed.

In this episode of Mapping Bigfoot, host Scott Tompkins takes us on a journey through the scientific and ecological factors that could explain Bigfoot's elusive nature. With his expertise as a GIS specialist and naturalist, Scott uses data, maps, and real-world examples to explore Bigfoot's potential habitat, behaviors, and survival strategies. We begin by looking at the striking overlap between Bigfoot sightings and bear habitats, suggesting that both creatures may share similar preferences for remote, rugged forests. Scott also dives into the environmental factors—like high rainfall and dense forests—that make certain regions ideal for Bigfoot to thrive, from the Pacific Northwest to the Appalachians.Scott further explores the vast wilderness of North America and how its scale could explain the rarity of Bigfoot evidence. He also highlights key ecoregions, like the Southern Unglaciated Allegheny Plateau and the Pacific Lowland Mixed Forest, where Bigfoot sightings align with rich ecosystems and remote terrain. The episode wraps up with a closer look at Chestnut Ridge in Pennsylvania, one of the most active Bigfoot zones, where sightings often follow natural wildlife corridors and waterways. Could Bigfoot be using these paths to stay hidden in plain sight?Join Scott for a data-driven exploration of Bigfoot's possible existence, where science and mystery meet in the wild landscapes of North America.
Lee Berger, National Geographic Explorer in Residence and real-life Indiana Jones with tales of his hominid discoveries, many of which have rewritten the story of palaeoanthropology. (R)National Geographic Explorer in Residence, Lee Berger, entered the field of palaeoanthropology when there was an infinitesimally tiny chance he would discover anything, while digging around South Africa. But this real-life Indiana Jones kept bucking the odds.He kept unearthing previously unseen parts of hominids - the group known as the Great Apes; comprising modern humans, chimpanzees, gorillas and orangutans plus all their immediate ancestors.First, he found a pair of hominid teeth in southern Africa. Then after a fossil hunting dry spell, his 9-year-old son Matthew found the jawbone of an entirely new hominid species.A few years later came Lee's most extraordinary discovery yet: a nearly inaccessible cave filled with skeletons of another new hominid species which seemed to be violating all the rules. The story of what happened in this cave revolutionises what we understand about the origins of our own human species. This episode of Conversations discusses the origin of human life, archaeology, science, research, caving, adventure, Indiana Jones, human species, evolution, Charles Darwin, theories of evolution, Africa.
Join us for Episode 5 of Mapping Bigfoot, where we dive into the fascinating world of Bigfoot research with Brad Gibson. In this episode, we discuss Bigfoot's evolutionary role, its movement across landscapes, and how citizen science is advancing the field of Bigfoot research. Brad also shares personal stories from his time studying red fox and coyote dispersal in urban landscapes, offering intriguing parallels to Bigfoot's behavior and movements. Plus, Brad recounts his own personal and chilling encounter with Bigfoot, giving us a firsthand account of what it's like to experience the unknown. Tune in for an enlightening conversation that blends science, anthropology, and Bigfoot research!

My guest tonight is Pete Breidahl. Pete is a modern-day "wannabe" Indiana Jones type character whose treated much of his adult life as an adventure. In 2008 Pete was a soldier serving as a “Peacekeeper” on Guadalcanal in the Solomon Island chain, when on a long-range patrol deep into its impenetrable jungles, Pete met a terrified young man that had never met a white man before. But he wasn't scared by the soldiers, he feared the creature he had encountered that morning while hunting. He described a classic “Bigfoot” type creature, and after a quick google search back at base Pete soon realized that Bigfoot and “Giant” sightings on Guadalcanal were very common indeed. Pete never forgot this encounter and returned in search of the creatures as soon as he had left the military.Pete not only shares his encounters and research here, but also the tragic realities of life in the developing world and the harsh truth that these creatures, which he believes wholeheartedly exist, will be gone before they are ever documented. The Solomon Islands, also known as the “Land That Time Forgot” hold many secrets and myths, and this book hopes to explore these as scientifically as possible without using the word "Squatchie."Sasquatch Odyssey YouTube ChannelVisit Our WebsiteParanormal World Productions Merchandise Store Pete's WebsiteCheck Out The Shows Sponsor Vitalis Sleep And Support Our Sponsorshttps://vitalissleep.comUse Promo Code ODYSSEY20 at check out for 20% Off Your Entire Order!Sasquatch Odyssey Podcast YouTube Channelhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCrIzUVxqM4a98whCBYBvgwSupport The Showhttps://www.patreon.com/paranormalworldproductionsAll The Socials And Stuff/Contact Brianhttps://linktr.ee/ParanormalWorldProductionsbrian@paranormalworldproductions.com Send Brian A Voicemail Or Tell Your Storyhttps://www.speakpipe.com/SasquatchOdysseyPodcastFollow The Show On Instagram https://www.instagram.com/sasquatchodyssey/Follow The Show On TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@sasquatchodysseypodcast?_t=8XRHQxPMFYo&_r=1

Evolution is a marvel, but - bad backs? Crooked teeth? Allergies? What gives?ALEX BEZZERIDES is a professor of biology at Lewis-Clark State College in Idaho, where he teaches a wide range of biology classes, from human anatomy and physiology to entomology. He has a bachelor's degree in biology and a PhD in neurobiology and behavior. MARK from Evolution Soup discusses Alex's new book 'Evolution Gone Wrong: The Curious Reasons Why Our Bodies Work (Or Don't)', delving into why the evolutionary process rewarded us with successes as well as lumping us with some pretty annoying failures! BIGFOOT Witness Interview with Man who Claims to have had Sasquatch and other Creature Encounters Throughout his lifeBigfoot, also commonly referred to as Sasquatch, is a purported ape-like creature said to inhabit the forests of North America. Many dubious articles have been offered in attempts to prove the existence of Bigfoot, including anecdotal claims of sightings as well as alleged video and audio recordings, photographs, and casts of large footprints. Some are known or admitted hoaxes. Tales of wild, hairy humanoids exist throughout the world, and such creatures appear in the folklore of North America, including the mythologies of indigenous people. Bigfoot is an icon within the fringe subculture of cryptozoology, and an enduring element of popular culture. The majority of mainstream scientists have historically discounted the existence of Bigfoot, considering it to be the result of a combination of folklore, misidentification, and hoax, rather than a living animal. Folklorists trace the phenomenon of Bigfoot to a combination of factors and sources including indigenous cultures, the European wild man figure, and folk tales. Wishful thinking, a cultural increase in environmental concerns, and overall societal awareness of the subject have been cited as additional factors.Other creatures of relatively similar descriptions are alleged to inhabit various regions throughout the world, such as the Skunk ape of the southeastern United States; the Almas, Yeren, and Yeti in Asia; and the Australian Yowie; all of which, like Bigfoot, are engrained in the cultures of their regions.bigfoot, sasquatch, sasquatch sightings, bigfoot sightings, bigfoot reports, sasquatch reports, yowi, the momo, the yeti, primate, hominid, hominoid, the hairy man, monster, bigfoot research, sasquatch research, cryptid, cryptozoology, bigfoot gifting, sasquatch gifting, bigfoot tree breaks, bigfoot whoops, bigfoot screams, sasquatch screams, bigfoot documentaries

Welcome to part 2 of our Minnesota Iceman deep dive! In December of 1967, Zoologists Ivan T. Sanderson and Bernard Heuvelmans would visit a strip mall exhibit that had the potential to change everything we know about Anthropology. The curator, a man by the name of Frank Hansen had a large hairy Hominid frozen in a block of ice. Today we're thawing out the legend of the Minnesota Iceman! Hypersensitive agency detection and promiscuous teleology in human brains make a powerful religion-making machine Millions of years of evolution have produced a powerful neural reflex within animals: we immediately assume there’s a being behind every rustling in the grass. We see faces in puffy clouds and random patterns on the ground. If we hear a […]
All animals communicate, but only humans have language. Why only us? Why has language been more important to human success than have our genes?
My special guest is Bill Munns, who worked in Hollywood during the 1970s as a top creator of monster costumes and has studied the Patterson-Gimlin Film for years. In the Patterson-Gimlin Film, the Hominid's stackable intense debate provokes the remark and the solution to the mystery. This book offers a genuinely unique analysis of the famous Patterson-Gimlin Film (the “Bigfoot” film, as it is also known), addressing the question of hoax or fraud from the perspective of a professional makeup and creature effects designer, as well as the perspective of a vintage filmmaker. The film itself is truly the best evidence, far superior to any testimony, recollections, and similar descriptive accounts, and this analysis relies upon that best evidence only for the definitive study in the 47-year history of this mysterious piece of film footage. This book is primarily written for the people who have not made up their minds, are curious about this bizarre film, and have not yet formed an opinion about its authenticity. Hopefully, this book will also be valuable to scholarly people willing to evaluate this film with an academic and factual approach. The film is a remarkable mystery, and its controversy is a fascinating commentary on human nature. The truth of the Patterson-Gimlin Film is quite an extraordinary story.
