Want to help your small firm flex its muscles? Think tech. Guest John K. Phoebus is a highly regarded personal injury and criminal defense attorney practicing on the eastern shore of Maryland. He is a founding partner of the Anthenelli, Phoebus & Hickman, LLC boutique law firm that he turbocharges with the latest technology.    Hear how Phoebus struck out at first on his own, then partnered with trusted colleagues and built a reputation so strong in their region they are known largely either by their last names or by Phoebus' nickname, “The Crab Lawyer.”    To manage a heavy case load in a boutique firm and sift through massive piles of evidence, even decades of medical records for a single case, Phoebus leans into tech, often tinkering with new products and pushing for greater capabilities when taking his small firm into battle against much larger, deep pocket firms.    Technology can help you market online, take clients from inquiry to retainer, and create repeatable, dependable case management systems that deliver a consistent experience to clients, build your reputation, and maximize outcomes time after time.    Questions or ideas about solo and small practices? His musical theatre credits include performing the roles of Schroeder in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Japheth in Two by Two, Thomas in Emmanuel the Musical (New York City), Barnaby in Hello Dolly, Shrek in Shrek Tateh in Ragtime, The Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz, and Dickon in The Secret Garden among many others. As a soloist, Manuele Adrian Mizzi has performed with The Neapolitan Connection, Vocal Horizons Chamber Choir, Greater Toronto Philharmonic, All the King's Voice's and the Burlington Civic Choir among others.Manuele Adrian Mizzi also has a long career of teaching under his belt. As an avid pianist, accompanist, musical director and director, he has been working with all ages from 3-99 for the last 23 years. His directing and musical directing credits include musicals, plays, pantos and recitals. Doctor Bird Productions is his next foray into the performing world - a place to bring his love of direction, performing and colaboration together. The doctor bird is Jamaica's national bird and his love of his heritage and love for the beauty of the animal world helped him bring this new company to life to soar like the great hummingbird.  Carlos Bastarrachea is playing Jekyll/Hyde in Doctor Bird Production of Jekyll and Jyde the musical as well as "Phoebus" in The Hunchback of Notre Dame and “Pirelli” in Sweeney Todd. This is his second show after moving to Canada from his hometown in Mexico City. Prior to Doctor Bird, his previous roles include Speing Awakening (Melchior), Once on This Island (Daniel) and Lion King (Timon). Carlos and his darling wife Emilia would like to thank Manuele and Ethan for a second chance at making magic and encouraging representation from people with disabilities. Doctor Bird Productions is looking to bring something fresh and new to Toronto's performance world.   We want to put on productions that stretch the imagination, that bring smiles to peoples faces and help to make people walk away with new thoughts and new ideas.  We hope to put on new productions in Canada and hope to reimagine shows that have been so important to the makeup of Torontos performance world.  We are committed to the practice of color-conscious casting. We recognize that considerations of race, including how race and ethnicity shape society and the stories we tell, are vital components to the casting process. Also critical to the casting process are audience perceptions of race on stage and in film.

Apollo, the favourite son of Zeus and twin brother of Artemis, was a Greek God with many faces. Perhaps most famous as Phoebus, the God of the Sun, he was the patron of poetry and prophecy, of music and dance. And yet he also possessed a darker side. A century ago, businessmen from around the world gathered in Geneva, Switzerland, to form a shadowy international organisation called the Phoebus Cartel. Their purpose? To control the production and distribution of lightbulbs across the world - and also, it's alleged, to deliberately shorten their lifespans to make them burn out quicker in order to sell more. It's a manufacturing tactic called planned obsolescence and it's claimed the Phoebus Cartel invented it. In this documentary, Shaun Keaveny goes in search of the mysterious Phoebus Cartel, a journey which takes him from the Industrial Midlands to Switzerland, a testing laboratory in Belgium, and the bizarre story of an immortal light bulb called Byron. Shaun investigates the rise of today's throwaway culture and looks at its enormous environmental impact, with millions of low-cost, poorly-made products ending up in landfill within a year of being bought. Is this a legacy of the Phoebus Cartel? Where does the conspiracy theory end and reality begin?Shaun also hears from the repairers, the activists, the campaigners and the designers who are fighting back against today's culture of accelerating obsolescence.Featuring contributions from: Chris Setz and the team at Haringey Fixers, Helen Peavitt (Science Museum), Catherine Shanahan (Rugby Art Museum), Markus Krajewski (University of Basel), James Hooker (Head of Laboratories for international lighting company), Scott Butler (Material Focus), Jack Holloway (Product Designer), Tim Cooper (Nottingham University), Kate Raworth (Environmental Change Institute, Oxford University) Readings... A big fan of the Disney Parks and Star Wars, Drama Desk Award-nominee Andrew Samonsky (Lempika, South Pacific, Come From Away, Bridges of Madison County) joins David to share his favorites stories and memories of going to Disney. Andrew is from California, so went to Disneyland as a kid, including a fun early birthday trip where he stayed at the Disneyland Hotel but wasn't able to sleep because he was too excited. Listen as he shares what made Disneyland magical for him as a kid, and what he finds charming as a "young at heart" when he returns to the Magic Kingdom today. Andrew and David discuss the quintessential Disneyland, and how the Anaheim park was their "true Disney." Andrew's love for the Disney Parks is contagious, especially his love of seeing Mickey Mouse in the Parks (and a fun story of seeing the Princesses), going on "Rise of the Resistance" (and his deep wish to meet Darth Vader), eating churros, and visiting "Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway." Andrew explains how he and Kate Reinders (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Wicked, Gypsy, Something Rotten) ended up getting married at Walt Disney World, and how their trips to the Parks have shifted since having their wonderful kid, Luke. Not a stranger to Disney onstage, Andrew starred in the National Tour of "On The Record," a Broadway-style musical revue of the Disney musical catalogue (prompting this episode's game "On the Samonsky Record"), as well as the US premiere of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" starring as Phoebus. Episode 5 of the DNA papers examines the contributions of the organic chemist Phoebus Levene, who published a corpus of some 200 papers on the subject over a period of four decades, during which he made discoveries about the constituents of, and developed his ideas about the structure of, DNA. Among other things, he was the first person to correctly identify the sugar components of the nucleic acids: d-ribose in RNA and d-2-deoxyribose in DNA. But these contributions have often been overlooked, and Levene is unfortunately more likely to be remembered in a negative light for something called the tetranucleotide hypothesis, which many believe hampered the progress of understanding the role of DNA. Here to talk about Levene's contributions to nucleic acid chemistry, and offer some perspective about the tetranucleotide hypothesis are: Pnina Abir-Am, Brandeis University Pedro Bernal, Rollins College Mark Lorch, University of Hull

This month we have some of the best of the best coming your way. We pulled from some of the most listened to podcasts of the year. We didn't want you to miss some of the most talked about and listened to interviews. Today we are re-releasing our conversation with founders of She Works His Way, and our conversation of is there such a thing as work life balance and what does it look like.   The age old question for almost every parent is,“How do we find work/life balance?   Is there even such a thing? Many times, it feels like if we just balanced it all we would have a full, complete, and happy life. But sometimes that balance feels like a big unicorn in the sky, something completely unattainable.    If you are a parent who continues to struggle with this, Somer and Michelle are here to help us rethink this question. They are here to give us some practical tools and perspective of what it looks like to dispel the notion of the world that we must have it all together; that we have to wear all the hats perfectly.    Somer and Michelle wrote the book She Works His Way: A Practical Guide for Doing What Matters Most in a Get-Things-Done World. She also founded She Works His Way a place for working women to be discipled.    With passion and wisdom, Myers and Phoebus challenge the modern-day thinking about "boss babe" mentality, helping working women place all dreams, goals, and side hustles under the authority of Jesus.   As a mom who is an entrepreneur and loves to work this was such an encouraging and uplifting conversation and helped me see what really matters in the grand scheme of things.    Buy She Works His Way Book:  Connect on instagram:  Learn more: https://sheworkshisway.com/
