JOIN THE BJDW COMMUNITY HERE! In this insightful episode, Michelle Myers, co-founder of She Works His Way, delves into the significance of community and finding contentment in Christ. Michelle emphasizes that work is not confined to a job title; rather, it encompasses anything a believer does that requires effort. She underscores the importance of unity and love among believers, advocating for seeking God first and finding rest in Him. Sharing her personal journey of learning to be content, Michelle encourages listeners to make Jesus the focal point of their lives. Michelle also introduces a practical approach to self-assessment and well-being through regular check-ins in four key areas: spiritual, physical, emotional, and relational. She presents a simple evaluation tool using the colors red, yellow, and green to help individuals gauge their status in each area. By asking specific questions, we can gain valuable insights into our overall well-being and pinpoint areas needing attention. Michelle highlights the necessity of prioritizing spiritual health and its influence on other aspects of our lives, while also stressing the value of vulnerability and community support during these evaluations. Key Takeaways ~ Redefining Work: Understanding work as any effort a believer undertakes, not just a job title. Community and Unity: Emphasizing the need for unity, love, and mutual support among believers. Finding Rest in God: Encouraging the practice of seeking God first and resting in His presence. Contentment in Christ: Sharing personal experiences of learning to be content with Jesus as the focus. Self-Assessment Tool: Introducing a simple red, yellow, and green evaluation method to monitor well-being. Four Key Areas: Regularly checking in on spiritual, physical, emotional, and relational health. Spiritual Health Priority: Highlighting the impact of spiritual well-being on other areas of life. Vulnerability and Support: Emphasizing the importance of community and vulnerability in personal growth. Discussion Questions: 1. How can redefining work change your perspective on daily tasks and responsibilities? 2. In what ways can you cultivate unity and love within your community of believers? 3. What practices help you seek God first and find rest in Him amidst a busy life? 4. How can you implement the red, yellow, and green evaluation tool in your daily routine? 5. What steps can you take to prioritize your spiritual health and its impact on other areas of your life? 6. How can vulnerability and community support play a role in your self-assessment journey? Okay, wait. If you haven't listened to last week's episode, you're going to be real confused so just scroll up a bit and push play on that before you push play here. Otherwise, we're diving right back in to the conversation around where your confidence is and what happens when you start putting your confidence and identity anywhere but where it belongs. (Spoiler: Burn out. That's what happens.) We're continuing our conversation with Somer Phoebus, co-founder of She Works His Way, and you're really lucky because you'll even get to hear a part we meant to edit out, but it will live forever in episode 179. We're all just doing our best out here, guys. The post Red Flags of Burnout, Insecurity & Listening to Opinions that Matter (Part Two) appeared first on .
This right here...this is a conversation I wish I'd had sooner. Building confidence in any area of life is hard, but what if it was less about confidence in one area and more about being a confident person? Because if all we are is tied up in what we can or cannot do - our confidence is built on some pretty rickety foundations. Today's episode with my friend Somer Phoebus, co-founder of She Works His Way, covers questions like: -What skills or mindsets do you wish you could go back and learn sooner? -How do you know to pump the brakes and when to push for more? -When do you keep at something and when do you know it's time to let it go? And this is JUST PART ONE! This conversation was so good that we talked for over an hour and we all know ya'll aren't going to catch allllll the good stuff if you have to listen that long. So push play on part one and look forward to part two next week! The post Putting Your Confidence in the Right Place + Knowing When To Run Hard & When To Slow Down (Part One) appeared first on .
Call it imposter syndrome, call it an identity crisis or just call it plain ol doubt - regardless of the name it carries, second-guessing yourself isn't just a you thing. If we were all a little more honest with ourselves and with each other we'd realize it's an us thing. In the last episode, we talked about why we hit burn out, what's happening to most women in the workplace and what adjustments we have to make personally and lots of other things I wish I'd learned sooner. This is a continuation of the conversation with my friend, Michelle Myers, from She Works His Way. I spent years trying to find someone ahead of me who was working a lot, leaning into ministry opportunities all while raising a family. Honestly, I wish I had met Michelle so much sooner and you'll feel the same after you listen to this episode. This week on Real Talk with Rachael in talking with author Michelle Myers. Michelle is the co-founder of She Works His Way. She is the author of Conversational Commentary on Acts: Gospel Mission Then and Now, Conversational Commentary on Ecclesiastes: Wisdom to Live for Heaven While on Earth, She Works His Way: A Practical Guide for Doing What Matters Most in a Get-Things-Done World, and Famous in Heaven and at Home. You can listen to Michelle weekly with her best friend and ministry partner on the She Works His Way podcast. She and her husband, James, live with their three children in Asheville, North Carolina, where James is the central discipleship pastor at Biltmore Church. Key Points from Our Conversation: Anything we think will satisfy us outside of Jesus will disappoint us 100% of the time. Our sole purpose is to fear God and keep His commandments. The emptiest feeling isn't not getting what you think you need to be happy, it's getting what you wanted and realizing that the Lord is all you need. If you are stuck in a cycle, it's not your responsibility to know how to stop, it's your responsibility to submit it to God so He can stop it. You are not powerful enough to stop the cycle, but for Him, nothing is impossible. God's sovereignty isn't an excuse to lead a passive life. God's plan is for us to be involved with His work in the world while we're in step with the Holy Spirit. When we ignore the limits that God gives us, we limit our worship because our limits reveal our dependence on Him. Overwork and laziness are equal disobedience. God does not work in us reluctantly - it is "for His good pleasure." It is our job to work out our salvation. When we join with Him in the good work He's doing, we reflect the character of God to others. Let's Get Real Practical: Get clear on why you are chasing what you're chasing. Are you living out God's will in your life?Sometimes people view God's will as something that will come in the future… but the truth is, He wants to use you right where you are now. He has you where He wants you and He wants to use every situation in your life to shed light on His goodness and give Him glory.Today on the podcast, Kristin takes a deeper look into God's will and how He leverages our weakness for good with Author Michelle Myers. You know you're called to start this business, but you also don't want to neglect your family. When we feel that calling to be an entrepreneur, it can consume us if we're not careful. Not to mention the standards that the world is calling us to when it comes to success and how money and followers seem to be the ultimate measure of a “successful” online business. But as Christian entrepreneurs, we know that's not true. We're called to do things differently. Today on the podcast, I'm talking with Michelle and Somer from She Works His Way about how to prioritize what matters most as Christian women called to work. This conversation is so rich with wisdom and mindset shifts on how to see work and all you do as something unto the Lord. Here are a few of the topics we cover: **How to respond to hustle culture and the drive to succeed as Christian women today **Being “set apart” and what that looks like for women today **Giving a Biblical definition of work **When to leave your job to pursue entrepreneurship (or not) **The real measure of success **How to handle it when friends and family resist your decision to follow God in your work **How to hear God to follow where He's leading **Knowing God's will for your life **Combating mom guilt “The world promised us that if we could achieve work-life balance, then all would be ok. But the real answer is keeping God first and then everything will be ok.” - Michelle and Somer, She Works His Way I hope you're encouraged by this episode and that you continue shifting your mindset toward Jesus so you can do all that He is calling you to do. More about Michelle and Somer Michelle and Somer love to talk about how culture is shifting the focus of Christian women who work—always telling us to work more, do more, be more. But, that's not what Jesus calls us to. He is constantly turning us back to himself. So as women who feel called to work, how can we stop prioritizing balance and start prioritizing what or Who matters most? Culture says: Forge your own way. God says: I am the only Way. If life feels empty and discouraging, then this episode will challenge you to put God first. In this episode, Michelle and I chat about:

This month we have some of the best of the best coming your way. We pulled from some of the most listened to podcasts of the year. We didn't want you to miss some of the most talked about and listened to interviews. Today we are re-releasing our conversation with founders of She Works His Way, and our conversation of is there such a thing as work life balance and what does it look like. The age old question for almost every parent is,“How do we find work/life balance? Is there even such a thing? Many times, it feels like if we just balanced it all we would have a full, complete, and happy life. But sometimes that balance feels like a big unicorn in the sky, something completely unattainable. If you are a parent who continues to struggle with this, Somer and Michelle are here to help us rethink this question. They are here to give us some practical tools and perspective of what it looks like to dispel the notion of the world that we must have it all together; that we have to wear all the hats perfectly. Somer and Michelle wrote the book She Works His Way: A Practical Guide for Doing What Matters Most in a Get-Things-Done World. She also founded She Works His Way a place for working women to be discipled. With passion and wisdom, Myers and Phoebus challenge the modern-day thinking about "boss babe" mentality, helping working women place all dreams, goals, and side hustles under the authority of Jesus. As a mom who is an entrepreneur and loves to work this was such an encouraging and uplifting conversation and helped me see what really matters in the grand scheme of things. Jesus gave His followers a clear mission: to make disciples of all nations. But in order to fulfill this mission, we cannot be focused only on our personal gain. Rather, we must constantly be pouring into and raising up those around us. In the book She Works His Way, Michelle Myers writes, “Limiting your kingdom impact to what you can do marginalizes the legacy it's possible to leave behind. Make it your mission to believe in others…” In the business world, discipleship is often called mentorship, and it's all about helping someone else up instead of stepping on them to get yourself a little higher. Are you making it a priority to intentionally mentor a next-generation co-worker? We challenge you to pray this week and ask the Lord, “who would you like me to mentor in the workplace and disciple in faith?”
Welcome to The Gospel Changes Everything podcast! In this episode, Alisha Illian had the opportunity to chat with Michelle Myers and Somer Phoebus of She Works HIS Way. No matter what "work" looks like in your life, this conversation is for YOU! Full of Biblical insight and real-life experience, these ladies define some crucial terms: What is work? What is success, and who determines what that looks like? Why does obedience to Christ feel risky? Whether you are a stay-at-home mom or you work outside the home full-time, you will walk away from this episode encouraged and uplifted. You may even feel the "shoulder-drop" of a weight being lifted from you. We pray you'll be challenged to commit all your work (whatever it is!) for the Lord to use for His purposes, HIS way. This is such a great episode! Paige and I had the honor of interviewing the founders of She Works HIS Way, Michelle Myers and Somer Phoebus. These ladies are passionate about two things - Jesus and discipling working women. It's these passions that led them to launch the She Works HIS Way network, their annual conference, Narrow, and to write their must-read book, "She Works HIS Way." We love how Michelle and Somer encourage women to stop compartmentalizing their lives - from work, to home, to church, to social - and instead incorporate Jesus into every area of their lives. Their story is so inspiring and we can't wait for you to meet them. For more information about She Works HIS Way, visit their website at sheworkshisway.com. Join us this week for a special interview with Michelle's longtime friend, Katie McCoy! Although this episode starts with a gospel centered conversation about singleness, Katie speaks to whatever season you may be in. She shares how you can best minister to the singles around you, how to address the mixed messages singles encounter in the church, and gives some of her wisdom on how to allow our understanding of God to speak into the areas of our lives that don't look how we think they should. It is so hard to juggle work, home, and spiritual life. How can we be effective in our work, and stay committed to the Gospel? How can we be dedicated to our family, when our jobs are so demanding? Why are we working so hard, and still so unfulfilled? We see a culture that promotes success at all costs, and working women are falling for it. It's happening every day. Priorities are shifting. Things are getting done . . . but are we doing what matters most? She Works His Way founders Somer Phoebus and Michelle Myers are on the show today telling the story of how they traded the lies of the world for the truth of our loving Father--the lessons they learned that challenged culture's "good things" so they could find the greatest thing. Join us for a conversation that pushes back against our culture with a Gospel-centered approach to work and womanhood, for the glory of God and the good of others. Let's get to work. His way. “You have to consider Jesus and then practice His presence.” Somer Phoebus “Love is the verb that keeps the church in check. Love is a decision and choice. If you want to increase your significance, increase your love.” Michelle Myers Connect: Sheworkshisway.com @sheworkshisway

On this weeks episode Somer asks Michelle to share her heart on UNITY which is imperative to us at She Works His Way. Because we live in a world full of division, Michelle felt a deep desire to look at Biblical unity more closely. She wanted to understand what it is, why it matters, and why we are so quick to divide. This conversation will give you both spiritual and practical advice to help you better pursue unity with other believers. Some of our favorite moments from todays episode: “Knowing the importance of unity is different than practicing the importance of unity.” -Michelle Myers “You cannot be unified by yourself, it requires others to be with you.” -Michelle Myers “When you think unity is only possible with other believers who only believe exactly what you believe you create something it was never intended to be. You become unified over something that isn't Jesus.” -Somer Phoebus and Michelle Myers ”We have to protect and prioritize unity instead of our preferences and personal opinion.” -Michelle Myers “Division is usually fueled by some kind of fear. We choose something that is more comfortable because we fear something that is uncomfortable.”” -Somer Phoebus “LOVE casts out fear. If fear is what fuels division then a lack of love for one another puts fear in our hearts and causes disunity.” -Somer Phoebus “A lot of times fear looks like pride.” -Michelle Myers “There is nothing that is more important than showing the world we love others and love Jesus.” -Somer Phoebus “This will not come if this is a half heart effort.” -Michelle Myers “Fellowship is FUN!” -Michelle Myers “If more churches had more people that just hung out with each other, than the intimacy of the people would be greater.” -Somer Phoebus “When believers lose their unity, something else has become more important than Jesus, 100% of the time.” -Michelle Myers Scripture we dug into this episode: John 17 Acts 2 Links we promised you: Andy Stanley Podcast Link
My guests this week are Michelle Myers and Somer Phoebus, the founders of She Works His Way. Their organization counteracts culture's way with a gospel-centered approach to work and womanhood. They also believe that community is greater than content and that women's priorities should be Christ, home and work, in that order. What started as a Google Hangout with four friends has now grow into a global ministry that reaches thousands of women daily. 5:55 – Somer 101 Somer lives in Annapolis and is a pastor's wife. From a young age, she enjoyed working and had an entrepreneurial spirit. She has two daughters, 19 and 21. 9:07 – Michelle 101 Michelle despises birds (☺) and lives in Asheville. She is also a pastor's daughter who married a pastor. She has three kids, the oldest is 10, and the youngest is 5. She quit her job and went to seminary. She wanted to learn more about ministry and find out what God wanted her to do with her life. 12:47 – She Works His Way It's a discipleship community for working women to encourage and equip them to stop compartmentalizing their faith. When you're in your purpose, everything, all the hard, it has purpose. 15:12 – Mixing faith with profit This can be done well or poorly. It depends on what your motives are. It's one thing to put your faith on your company website. It's another to live it out. If you make decisions based on what you think other people's perceptions of you are going to be, you're going to struggle for the rest of your life. If you're called to put faith on your billboard, put it on there. 25:35 – Achieving balance When we try to achieve balance, we try to be everything that God has called us to be and then everything that the world expects us to be. But it's not balance, it's bondage. Women often feel like they're on a hamster wheel on a tightrope. 37:44 – Drowning in information The first place they send women is to the local church, because community is so important. We're desperate to be inspired and get motivation, and we are drowning in information. They suggest informational fasts for women to take a break from consuming so much information. 52:09 – Analysis paralysis If you feel overwhelmed, try these three simple steps: Do a weekly brain dump on a sheet of paper Categorize your brain dump by home, career, big projects Schedule it on your calendar FEATURED QUOTES If you make decisions based on what you think other people's perceptions of you are going to be, you're going to struggle for the rest of your life. – Somer If you're called to put faith on your billboard, put it on there. – Somer When you're in your purpose, everything, all the hard, it has purpose. – Somer What is your view of God, and who are you? – Somer What are you called to? What is God asking of you? And then you step in obedience to whatever that is. – Somer CONNECT: https://sheworkshisway.com/ https://sheworkshisway.com/book/ Michelle Myers had no idea what started as a Google hangout at 5am with three friends would one day result in the title of "founder" of she works His way. But here we are, six years later, with thousands of women gathered for the same reason we started: How can I glorify God, honor my family, and serve others at work? Basically, her happy place is encouraging + equipping working women to live for the glory of God and the good of others. Home will always be her favorite place to be, with her husband, James, and their three children, Noah (9), Cole (6) and Shea (3). Somer is a lead communicator + managing partner at she works HIS way. She spent the first half of her career building the businesses of others and the second half building and selling a few businesses of her own. She is also the creator of Productivity Academy + the owner of Somer Phoebus Consulting, where she coaches other working women and female entrepreneurs in the areas of productivity, leadership, brick and mortar business, and scaling for growth -- all while keeping their priorities in line: faith, then family, then business. Somer is married to Kent, a pastor at Redemption Church in Annapolis, MD, and mom to their two lovely daughters, Kennedi (19) and Ava Liz (17). We know it well: hustle culture. Get it done, no matter the cost. Whoever is doing more is the most successful. But when it comes down to it, we're still feeling unfulfilled. We're still left with this burning question: is there more to life? Is this truly what Jesus called us to? The answer is no. And in today's episode, I'm joined by Michelle Myers and Summer Phoebus with She Works His Way to talk about how we can be effective in our work while staying committed to the gospel. If you're going through life asking these questions: · How can I be effective in my work, and stay committed to the Gospel? · How can I be dedicated to my family, when my job is so demanding? · Why am I working so hard, and still so unfulfilled? When you feel like your call in life shifts in a way you didn't expect, it can be easy for it to get into your head that makes you think, “I can't do this. I can't grow this way.” But God always equips us with the call. Belief and behavior are the foundation of faith, and when we lean into that, He can help equip us with the skills we need to succeed. Joining me this week is Candi Williams, Associate Director of Paid Media at Ramsey Solutions. I'm so excited for you all to hear from her because that company helped me so much from when I used to be deep in debt to now debt-free. She'll share her own financial experiences working with the company, and how its mission has given her the opportunity to remove herself from a place of self-doubt to grow into a position that better serves others. So long as you're hungry to learn and willing to humble yourself, you can open yourself up to doing things you never thought you could before. Learn more by tuning into this episode! Episode Highlights: Candi's relationship with her faith growing up and its big turning point How getting started with Ramey Solutions helped her achieve financial peace Tools aspiring entrepreneurs can integrate into both their faith and business What she feels the Lord has put in her heart for her future How she finds time for herself despite her full-time job and two sons Connect with Candi: Instagram | @candiwilliams Website | Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University Check out the book "She Works His Way" by Somer Phoebus and Michelle Myers on Amazon! Pre-order my new book Face Off with Your Feelings at jessicahottle.com Many of us allow our feelings to be the engine in our lives instead of the caboose. We are run by our feelings when we run away from them. But as Jessica Hottle teaches, we no longer have to run and hide from our feelings. Our feelings can lead us into a deeper relationship with God. Whether you feel too busy to slow down; believe you are not worth the time, the effort, or the fight; feel so overwhelmed with where to start; or have no idea how to take your thoughts captive, question your thoughts, or renew your mind, this book helps you create space, step-by-step, to heal the tender places of your soul. This book teaches you how worthy you are of love and healing because of our good Father in heaven. Writing from her own journey, Jessica shares simple, tangible actions steps for readers to take as they work through the process of healing, including: Changing the way you think about God to change the way you live with God, Creating the space you need to find healing, Discovering how to get the Word of God from your head into your heart, Experiencing the love of God through relationship and not works, and Finding freedom from shame about what you feel so you can heal. It's easy to get so caught up in our to-do lists that we don't stop to ask if what we're busy doing is something we should be doing. Is it really worth our time and energy or are there more important things we should be focusing on? In this conversation with the co-leaders of She Works His Way, Michelle Myers and Somer Phobus, we're talking about the battle of overwork, why margin is vital for us to build deep relationships, and the power and freedom that comes with seeking God first. When you are striving to be both who God says you are and who the world says you should be, that's not balance, THAT'S BONDAGE - according to Michelle Myers and Somer Phoebus, authors of the book SHE WORKS HIS WAY, and co-founders of the discipleship community by the same name. I had the honor to talk to both of these working women who are also wives and mothers about the struggle of climbing the ladders at home and at work while wondering where God's commandments fit into this crazy hustle culture we live in. If you struggle with mom guilt, an elusive work/life balance, finding Biblical guardrails for your vocation and home, or constant worry for the future of your children- you are going to DEFINITELY want to spend some time with my brilliant, kind, and wise friends today. This is our second conversation with Michelle Meyers, but this time she brought her friend Somer Phoebus. They just recently wrote a book and also run a company together, both by the same name - She Works HIS Way. You are going to love this conversation and we know you'll find some great takeaways that will impact your life and leadership. Before we jump into their book, I wanted you to hear about Michelle and Somer's background (2:41) It sounds like you created something because you needed it, not to start a business (6:14) Thinking back to your first 18 months - what was the biggest thing you got from that time period personally? (7:29) Let's talk about the topic of freedom. What're your thoughts about freedom and do you see it showing up as a potential idol? (13:37) There's a difference between having freedom and experiencing it. What does that mean to you guys? (18:03) What happens when we're operating from the mindset of wanting to do what God wants us to do but we can't tell what He wants us to do? (22:28) What would you say to the entrepreneur who has achieved a level of success that gives them more time and wonders what they should do now? (29:08) Anyone who is wired as a leader probably struggles with the idea that work = worth. How do you think those connect to each other? (33:23) Your book is constantly combatting the messages that are perceived as true (37:10) As a growth-oriented leader, it can be hard to understand what contentment looks like. What is contentment? (39:44) One of the things I started to pay attention to was that some of the most goal-oriented people I know are also miserable. What is the proper role of goals in the life of a person and business so they can co-exist with contentment? (46:41) How do you evaluate whether something has become an idol? (51:58) One of the chapters in the book is about relationships. Why are adult friendships so important and how do you build them? (55:58) I have to reframe my idea of success when it comes to spending time with people. What is a healthy definition of success for spending time with people? (1:02:00) If someone listening considers their relationship with Jesus as their main thing, what is your encouragement for that person? (1:06:51) Can we close out with a prayer like you do in each chapter of the book? Michelle and Somer are moms, wives, women called to work, best friends and co-leaders of She Works His Way - a discipleship community for working women. Dear friend, We know it deeply. It is so hard to juggle work, home, and spiritual life. As working women, we've wrestled with tough questions: How can I be effective in my work, and stay committed to the Gospel? How can I be dedicated to my family, when my job is so demanding? Why am I working so hard, and still so unfulfilled? Sound familiar? Like you, we see a culture that promotes success at all costs, and working women are falling for it. It's happening every day. Priorities are shifting. Things are getting done . . . but are we doing what matters most? And that's why we wrote this book. This is the story of how we traded the lies of the world for the truth of our loving Father--the lessons we learned that challenged culture's "good things" so we could find the greatest thing. The book is really a conversation--a conversation that pushes back against our culture with a Gospel-centered approach to work and womanhood, for the glory of God and the good of others. Let's get to work. His way. Michelle + Somer Connect with Michelle and Somer→

This week on Real Talk with Rachael I'm talking with Michelle Meyers and Somer Phoebus about their new book She Works His Way: A Practical Guide for Doing What Matters Most in a Get-Things-Done World. Michelle and Somer are also moms, wives, women called to work, best friends, and co-leaders of She Works His Way - a discipleship community for working women. Michelle Myers is an author, entrepreneur, and motivator. Michelle launched She Works His Way to pour God's truth into the lives of women in ministry and business. She is the author of Famous in Heaven & at Home. Michelle lives in North Carolina with her husband, two sons, and a daughter. Somer Phoebus is a brick-and-mortar business lover, productivity expert, and pastor's wife. She is part of the She Works His Way leadership team. In addition to an early career in fashion and retail, Somer started and sold two fitness studios. Somer lives in Maryland with her husband and two daughters. Key Points from Our Conversation: Through She Works His Way Michelle and Somer encourage women to filter everything through the gospel by asking how our actions impact the kingdom of God. The community continually reminds members to surrender to Jesus who brings freedom, energy, and excitement. "If you're walking with Jesus, where you are right now is where you're called." – Somer Whatever work you're doing, you are in a mission field. God has placed you there to be His representative to those around you. If you invest in people where you are and behave according to the gospel, it creates curiosity in the hearts of those around you and opens doors to speak truth into someone's life. All women work. Work is not defined by compensation. It's an intentional effort that you take for the purpose of the glory of God. So often we equate balance with perfection, so our pursuit of balance is futile. Give up chasing balance and surrender it to Jesus. When we seek God first, He shapes our desires. “Attempting to make God equal with the rest of your life is going to equal chaos every single time.” – Michelle Never be afraid to ask for help. Leave margin in your schedule to love people. Inspect the things you keep coming back to that keep leaving you dry. Those things steal energy from the things that truly matter. Accept that you probably didn't marry someone exactly like you, so you'll likely have conflict. It's not personal, they love you first and they see things differently. You don't have to defend yourself. It's a gift to have someone who sees things differently. Lower your expectations of your spouse every day. We always expect more than we should. Marriage can't be forced; it has to be organic. Have fun with each other and be intentional about it. There isn't a 5 step process to fix your marriage. It'll look different for everyone. Too much pressure on marriage is what usually breaks it. If you are juggling all the things, remember Matthew 6:33 ("Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.") and let it take root in your soul. If you've been walking with Christ for a while, encourage someone who hasn't by extending grace where they're expecting too much of themselves and point them back to Jesus. Let's Get Real Practical: We get to decide who or what gets our energy. As a physical reminder, consider getting a piggy bank and write the word "energy" on it. Any time someone asks you to do something, look at it as more than time, but energy. Ask yourself if the return was worth the energy you spent on the task. Did it leave you feeling drained? I was so honored when today's guest reached out to me about being on my show because I knew I'd seen her content as part of She Works His Way, and they shares amazing Biblical content for women like us! Jessica is steadfast in this fact: by challenging the way you think we can change the way we live. As a faith-based fitness coach, podcast host, speaker, and author, she teaches women how to dismantle the lies that keep them from healing and wholeness. As she says, “It's time to patiently run your race of grace towards freedom in spirit, soul, and body, as you partake in the journey of undoing and becoming who you are in Christ!” So many drop-the-mic moments in this conversation, it was hard to choose a clip! For the month of July, I'm sharing replays of my most popular episodes. In this episode I'm joined by the Founder and Creator of She Works His Way, Michelle Myers. Today we are going to debunk the myth that striving equals success. Michelle was a self-described chronic striver, switching her focus from school to relationships to eating, then to work. It wasn't until she found herself completely overwhelmed with trying to make her life easier that she realized that instead of doing something less, she needed to love and trust God more. In this episode, we discuss what it means to have surrendered effort in business, true obedience, and living approved vs. living for approval. Why Identifying and Combating Resistance in your Life and business is the secret to success as a Mother and Business Owner. While it could seem like an abstract concept, the fact that resistance exists and sabotages your success is so far from abstract...it is very real. That is why we have named this "the resistance is real". If you've ever tried to do something big and have had to do it with the fear, you have heard the voice in your head say, "Nothings going right, this isn't meant to be" Most of us grew up looking for the "signs” that it wasn't in the plan. For me(NiCole), it links back to the way I lived out my faith. If it was God's Will then it will all work out. I think this narrative, more than any other, has held us back from more things we could have done, The Roots of Resistance: Negative Self Talk Fear: imposter syndrome (fear of being a phony), fear of failure or success, intrusive thoughts anxiety and worry. Circumstances: like lack of support. whether it be physical support or emotional or even just belief Failures and Discouragement Ways to combat it: Action--even sloppy action Look for conformation Create a clear direction Expect the resistance to come The path that is right should force us to Lean on God. The best stories have a struggle, or they wouldn't be worth the listen. "Sometimes the ease road isn't the indicator that you are doing the right thing, the difficulty of it is " -NiCole "Happy Endings wouldn't be so happy if the road to them wasn't paved in resistance" NiCole Easton

I’ve been hearing a lot of questions from Christian women lately due to the pandemic. Questions like… How do I stay strong in my faith? How do I fit a workout in and take care of myself with kids at home and how do I stay motivated? What do I do with my business goals, how do I pivot and prepare for the future? I’m not going to sugar coat it, we are living in uncertain times and things are changing every day. As women of God, we need to stand firm in our faith more than ever. There's no denying that becoming a mother changes things for a woman...including our sense of direction in life. Even when we are crystal clear on what kind of mother we want to be, becoming a mom doesn't mean we should lose our original mission as a child of God. Becoming a mom really DOES change a woman. It changes her body, her emotions, her priorities, and even sometimes her entire direction in life...but it shouldn't change her mission. Join us today as we chat with Michelle Myers, Founder of She Works HIS Way, about following God in motherhood AND in ministry! You might just walk away with a whole new understanding of your calling!

I got chills listening to this episode after it was recorded. Michelle brings the TRUTH to us today through admonition to follow our one leader rather than being obsessed with becoming leaders. How we need to also be taught before teaching. She is the founder of She Works His Way, an organization that helps women learn in their life and work how to give God the glory & make Jesus our hero. It’s scary simple to unknowingly sacrifice success in life to succeed in business. They provide training and tools to help you build a business that honors God, your family, and your purpose so you won’t waste your life. YOU WILL LOVE THIS EPISODE!
I'm with the brilliant Michelle Myers today. She is the founder and CEO of She Works His Way. Michelle talks about the problems she saw that inspired her to start her company, gives tools to help women boldly pursue their calling, and helps us examine our metrics for success. Michelle also shares about her experience in direct sales and gives some insight into how to stand apart in a saturated online market. In this episode we discuss: 1. Being good stewards of God's grace. 2. The truth of mom guilt. 3. Why convenience can't outweigh community. Favorite quotes: 1. Our businesses were never meant to satisfy us because God loves us too much so he will never allow us to be satisfied with something other than Him. That dissatisfaction is always going to grow as we pursue something other than Him. 2. Am I pursuing success for myself or am I pursuing a purpose that God has put inside of me to do? 3. God has purposely given you life experiences and gifts, talents, and abilities for the purpose of bringing Him glory and serving others. 4. We are being poor stewards of his grace when we lock up the gifts, talents, and abilities he has given us. 5. Guilt is this feeling that weighs you down but it's a feeling, it's not necessarily true. Conviction is with a goal of correction from the Holy Spirit. Anytime we feel guilty, we have to ask ourselves is this guilt or is it conviction? In this episode I answer these questions: 1. What's a quick happiness tip that I can use every day? (38:42) 2. Does God still do miracles? (41:45) 3. I know you love online calendars and your remind app, but give me another tip on managing my time. (44:22) Links to great things we discussed: 1. Michelle Myers 2. She Works HIS Way, Instagram 3. Carrollton- Shelter 4. 24 5. Francis Chan- Letters to the Church 6. Missio Hair 7. Women in Leadership Coaching Intensive 8. Blissdom Conference Hope you loved this episode! But I know that I need to be vulnerable and share my truth in hopes that it will help you in some way and also provide encouragement. Every Step you take is Progress and it MATTERS! www.progress-matters.com

In this episode of the L3 Leadership podcast, you'll our lightning round interview with Michelle Myers, Founder of She Works His Way, a business that helps train women to pursue their passions while keeping God & Family as their top priorities. To see the notes and ways to connect with Michelle Myers go to the show notes at http://www.L3Leadership.org/episode173. You can listen to part one of our interview with Michelle in episode #172. Michelle's Bio: After meeting at seminary in Texas, Michelle married her husband, James, while they were both getting their masters degrees in Christian Education. Today, James serves as a campus pastor for Biltmore Baptist Church. They love raising their two boys, Noah & Cole, in the beautiful Asheville, NC. Of all her hats (and you know Michelle loves her hats!), the favorite ones she wears are that of wife & mom. After doing fitness all wrong herself & battling an eating disorder for 4 years, Michelle certainly never expected to have credibility in the field…but God had other plans. Not only did Michelle write about her journey in The Look that Kills: An Anorexic’s Addiction to Control, but God continued to open doors for her in the health industry. Linking arms with Team Beachbody has been an amazing journey for Michelle, creating friendships & freedom she never imagined. Michelle loves working out from home, using their premium nutrition supplements and supporting others to have similar success. She is an Elite coach within the company, and she even finished 2013 as #15 out of over 150,000 coaches. In 2013, Michelle launched Cross Training Couture, a faith-based fitness line for women. This ministry was on Michelle’s heart after seeing so many “empty” phrases written on tanks in popular fitness stores. She wanted a line of “witness wear” to encourage women to remember that it’s so much deeper than the number on the scale. Fitness is about having the energy to be everything God calls you to be. After launching two successful businesses, God stirred a desire in Michelle to train other women to pursue their passions while keeping God & their family their top priorities. She Works His Way exists to put the focus on teaching the Bible & how that applies to business & life, rather than teaching business & time management skills, sprinkling with Scripture. As an extension of this ministry, she also does social media & brand consulting for like-minded businesses & ministries. Due to her commitment to her young family & Myers Cross Training, Michelle takes very limited speaking engagements & clients. However, if you’re interested in booking Michelle to speak for your event or consult for your business/ministry, you may inquire here.
