If you think Flares aren't for you, then take a listen to this week's podcast.1. Choose the Right Length Make sure your flares skim the floor but don't drag. Pair them with heels for added height and elongation, or chunky flats for a more relaxed vibe.2. Balance the Silhouette Opt for a fitted or tucked-in top to balance the wide-leg shape of flares. This creates a flattering, hourglass silhouette.3. Highlight Your Waist Wear flares with a high-waisted cut to accentuate your waistline. Add a belt for extra definition and a polished look.4. Play with Proportions Pair flares with a cropped jacket or blazer to keep your outfit modern and structured. A longline coat works too but should fall open to show the waist.5. Experiment with Fabrics and Colours Try denim flares for a casual vibe or tailored ones for a chic, office-ready outfit. Experiment with bold colours or prints for a statement-making look.About the HostWorking with personal clients, Lisa is passionate to inspire & empower ambitious women to have a wardrobe that gives them the confidence & self belief to achieve & reach their goals whilst reflecting their personal brand.Lisa has contributed to editorials such as The Guardian, Times, Daily Mail, The Sun, Daily Express works as the Style expert for BBC & Heart Radio throughout the UK. This past weekend in college baseball a number of teams that had been cool for a while started to heat back up and demonstrated why betting on college baseball can be so volatile and frustrating for those betting on it. Wake Forest is a perfect example that after starting the season as the odds on favorite to win the College World Series, they end the month of March by getting swept at home no less, by North Carolina. Before that they lost two of three to both Duke and Louisville in MarchThe calendar turns to April and the Demon Deacons have swept Virginia Tech, took two out of three at Boston College and this past weekend, took two of three from Florida State who is in the National Host conversation. Sweeps are nice but two out of three gets you to Omaha and Wake looks to have righted the ship for a stretch run. We bring this up because this spotlights the uniqueness of college baseball and as a sports bettor it's key to understand that betting on college baseball is very different than betting on the MLB.Highlights include:
Now that the NFC West has passed through the first couple waves of free agency, we run down some of the biggest moves by the Seattle Seahawks competitors. Did the Los Angeles Rams win free agency by spending on the offensive line? Or are they the biggest losers because their Hall of Fame defender decided to pack up his locker and call it a career? The Arizona Cardinals have four new starters in the trenches. It would be bigger news if they were players you've actually heard of. Plus, they may have made the most boneheaded trade in the entire conference. Then there's the San Francisco 49ers. They're making some key moves, but they didn't do the one thing that could help them overcome a devastating Super Bowl loss. We take a look at a few areas the Seahawks still need to address through free agency and the draft. Plus, we clear any confusion surrounding the role of Pete Carroll and the Seahawks organization moving forward. Mike Macdonald and John Schneider are working to clear up any confusion around which player is the starting quarterback between Geno Smith and Sam Howell. In the second half of the show, the take a look at the proposed rule against hip drop tackles and some language that is important to identifying the types of tackles the NFL is trying to get out of the game. A Rams fan who doesn't understand the position of nose tackle and the Seahawks front office both land in this week's Do Better segment. We profile a Missouri-based company as well as a Montana-based organization for their Better at Life worthy actions. 2023 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! Days into free agency, the Seattle Seahawks have worked to try and fill holes at positions of need. They needed a backup quarterback with Drew Lock heading to New York, and now they have Sam Howell after swapping picks with Washington. George Fant is returning to the Seahawks, but will he be able to find his way into a starting role? Seattle signed a center/guard, a safety and a linebacker. Are they clear improvements or a sign of the franchise rebuilding? Plus they made moves to bring back Artie Burns, Darrell Taylor and D'Wayne Eskridge. 2023 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! A week after the Super Bowl and we're still celebrating a 49ers loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. For a third time, Kyle Shanahan has been involved in a game where he's been up 10+ points and lost. Despite reports of players not knowing the overtime rules and whether or not the 49ers took the ball first, does it even really matter? Did it even matter that the overtime rules have changed? It seemed like the 49ers were simply destined to lose that game based on several second half misfires. The Seahawks new coaching staff is taking shape and we heard from Ryan Grubb, Aden Durde and Jay Harbaugh this past week. Which hire represents the biggest risk among the group and what are some common themes now that we see the leadership of the staff coming together? Geno Smith continues to be under contract, but is he here to stay for the long term? We discuss why we may be in for a couple months of Geno Smith trade talk leading up to the draft. There are two former Seahawks entering the Pro Football Hall of Fame after last week's announcements. There are a couple members of the Legion of Boom who look to be a lock and one who could get snubbed based on how we've seen voting go historically. Plus, we announce this year's pick'em league champion! Pro Football Focus gets called out along with a list of the best Super Bowl halftimes in the Do Better segment. The Seahawks organization is searching for a head coach for the first time since 2010. We take a look at several names who have interviewed with the team and a couple other coaches who are linked to the team. We talk about what intrigues us, and what we don't like about: Cowboys Defensive Coordinator Dan Quinn (03:00), Rams DC Raheem Morris (03:13), Texans Offensive Coordinator Bobby Slowik (13:08), Lions OC Ben Johnson (18:00), Panthers DC Ejiro Evero (22:18), Raiders DC Patrick Graham (25:39), Dolphins OC Frank Smith (30:19), Giants OC Mike Kafka (33:13), Former Titans Head Coach Mike Vrabel (37:48), Ravens DC Mike Macdonald (41:02), and Michigan HC Jim Harbaugh (56:32). In the second half of the show, we talk about Geno Smith's contract and what it means for coming back to the Seahawks in 2024. We take some emails and comments about Pete Carroll and what he meant for fans. Has the culture he developed become a "comfortable old shoe" in need of replacement? We talk playoffs and how the Detroit Lions need to 'Do Better' and how Sports Illustrated's website is now a pop-up ad farm. We close with Better at Life honors going out to the winningest head coach in Seahawks history. 2023 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! There's a crude joke from many years ago that led to a word often used on the show for a dominant run performance. The Seahawks were 'jellied' by the Steelers this past Sunday and on top of ruining a potential playoff berth, it's also one of the worst ways to lose a football game. The loss highlights an issue that has continued to show up on defense throughout Clint Hurtt's time as the defensive coordinator. Is it a coordinator issue or is it a problem that goes all the way to the top? Fortunately (or unfortunately) the Seahawks will be tested by a similar running game this week in the Arizona Cardinals. The NFC West rival is coming off a win over last year's conference champion and it offers an opportunity to highlight the difference in coaching versus player performance. Can the Seahawks bounce back after a loss and put the team in a similar position as last year? Will we be cheering on the Bears to victory in hopes our Seahawks can make the playoffs? After the break we talk about a popular name expected to re-enter the NFL coaching ranks and how unlikely of a fit it would be for the Seahawks. We discuss the potential of a civil war brewing within the show. Which side gets the best caterer? We call out the Seahawks general manager for a missed opportunity recently and to the writer of a Seahawks blog. Better at life honors go out to an elite comment from a Browns player and to the Washington Huskies for their title run. 2023 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! In the 20-17 win against the Tennessee Titans, we saw some of the inconsistencies of the season continue. Fortunately, it still allowed for the Seahawks to get the win and part of that was attributed this past week to the amount of time Pete Carroll focuses on the two-minute offense. There's one aspect of the late-game offense that is different and Pete was asked this week why the team leads the league in throws to the sidelines. The answer was not satisfactory. There are two big matchups to watch coming up against the Steelers on Sunday. Mike Tomlin is also looking to continue a career milestone that is coming down to the final two games of the season. Mason Rudolph is set to get the start in place of Kenny Pickett after putting up 30+ against the Bengals. We discuss what went into the Steelers success last week. The Seahawks do have an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot this Sunday. Even though it only involved the outcome in one game apart from the Seahawks, it's not a very likely outcome. Plus, should we be lobbying for the Niners to get the top seed? We talk about the latest Russell Wilson news in the Do Better segment along with some frustrations with a Mac update. Better at life honors go out to one of the FCS Championship teams and to the Seahawks for coming out way ahead on one of the biggest front office moves in team history. 2023 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! The Seahawks win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football was one of their most important wins of the season. Not only did it keep them in the race for the playoffs, they showed some level of physical football that we hadn't seen in previous weeks. There was also a question of whether Coach Pete Carroll may not have the support of the locker room as the losses continued to pile up. Even if the Seahawks didn't pull out the win - that question had been answered through the first three quarters of the game. Drew Lock answered some questions in this game by driving the length of the field in the final two minutes of the game. His post game press conference was an all-timer. However, it sounds like Geno Smith will be ready to come back against the Titans. He finally has a chance to enjoy a full game with Charles Cross and Abe Lucas at the tackle spots. But the Titans are significantly better than the Seahawks in two particular defensive stat lines. Will that be a difference maker when it comes down to which team comes away with the victory? Will the focus of replacing Pete Carroll shift following the win over the Eagles? Do we need to start looking for a new head coach anyway based on some of the rumors about Dan Quinn? What does a successful head coach even look like? Our pick'em league overlord is pleased this week and we give a shoutout to 9L as requested. Eagles fans need to 'do better' even as one of our own feels as though he can do better. Better at life honors go out to a media member who has Pete's back and to one of the biggest names in national media for avoiding a biased approach at covering Monday Night Football. 2023 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! Just one month ago the Seahawks were 6-3 and looking like a relative lock for the playoffs, and considering the Niners had also lost three games to that point it looked like the division title was also within range. One month later, the division title is out of reach, Seattle has a losing record and the playoffs are in question. A week ago, Pete was on the radio talking as if the playoffs were a certainty and this week he's blowing off questions about whether or not his message is getting through to players. What will it take for this team to take a turn? How the Seahawks play against Philadelphia may well determine how the rest of the season plays out. Can they cut out the 'easy' mistakes from some of the previous weeks? The Eagles defensive line may be a formidable force, but a former Seahawks defensive coach is struggling with a similar problem that Coach Hurtt has been concerned with this year. Let's say things work out over these next few weeks. Is there one thing to possibly look forward to that a playoff berth can provide? We believe there is. Part of the reason is because Kyle Shanahan needs to Do Better along with a Bay Area reporter who seemingly couldn't wait to pile on DK Metcalf rather than approach the end of the game with any kind of objectivity about the role of one Niners player at the end of the game. Better at life honors go out to a PNW company for bringing us into the future and to a Seahawks player who was honored for his work in the community. 2023 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! The Seahawks have a couple of major milestones on the line and history is on the Seahawks side. Considering the way the San Francisco 49ers have been playing, it would make a victory that much sweeter if past trends hold true. However, if we can't count on historical trends, what would need to change for the Seahawks to be able to compete at the 49ers current level? Is coaching or personnel more of the problem, particularly when we focus on the defense? We take a look back at the Cowboys game and talk about some of the moments that still stick with us a week later. NFL officiating as a whole continues to be a topic of conversation, especially after a big call went against the Chiefs in a game that helped the Packers join the playoff picture. A Seahawks blog can do better for suggesting that it's time to move on from one of the Seahawks most prolific players and Rich Eisen left a key team out of the playoff conversation this past week. Fans are frustrated and looking for answers after back-to-back losses to division rivals. With the prospects of a playoff push now dimming, should the Seahawks start the firing spree? With that type of move unlikely to happen, we dig into some of the statistics of the NFL's best offensive teams and look at some of the ways the best offenses in the league are scoring the most points, leading in DVOA and also creating explosive plays. Plus, it's something the Seahawks might actually be good at if they just choose to do more of it. If the Seahawks are going to maintain their playoff hopes, one win over the next three games should keep them in the running. The matchup against the Dallas Cowboys may present their best opportunity. The downside is that Dallas has been one of the NFL's best teams playing at home this season. They've been destroying bad teams on their home turf. If the Seahawks truly are bad, this Thursday's game should tell the story. The Arizona Cardinals didn't do anything to help our Seahawks with the Rams spot in the NFC West standings. We also may be seeing why they were ok with moving on from Josh Dobbs who had a disaster of a performance against the Chicago Bears. It's a short week, which means there isn't a lot of time to dwell over a loss to the Rams. And why are we dwelling on a loss to the Rams anyway? It's not like we haven't experienced multiple losses to stupid inferior Rams teams in a season before anyway. Even though the Seahawks defense held Stafford and the Rams to just 17 points, is there some blame to be shared by that position group? Shane Waldron seems to struggle situationally, but does it mean he should be fired? We talk about our preferred alternatives. Even with the loss, the Seahawks are in prime position to take over the NFC West with two matchups against the division rival San Francisco 49ers in the next three weeks. This will be a big challenge and there are similar concerns in this matchup as we saw with the game against the Baltimore Ravens earlier this year. We get into the areas of the game the Seahawks are going to have to improve if they're going to come out ahead versus Frisco. After the game this week, Geno Smith talked about not getting a play in via his headset. It was part of the reason they chose to run the football in the final seconds. Was there really an issue? Did a play get called or not? The Seahawks got the win against the Washington Commanders, but did they get "back to basics" like players and coaches said the team would? What do we think the team meant by basics? The running backs combined for about 30 touches, but Geno Smith also threw nearly 50 passes. Maybe getting back to basics is winning the turnover battle and really taking care of the ball on offense. Because those things were also true. Will they be able to keep it going as they travel to LA to take on the Rams? Matthew Stafford is back after being sidelined with a thumb injury. Will the Seahawks defense make an adjustment if the Rams QB isn't able to push the ball down field? Or will McVay continue to have his way against Pete Carroll and the Seahawks defense? With the way Pete was stewing about the loss, it feels like it's time that he'll dig deep to get this win. The Arizona Cardinals got a win in Kyler Murray's return to the team, but did they give away the better quarterback option for next to nothing in the trade with the Vikings? Win or loss (even when we get mullered), this show has been about coming on each and every week to talk about what we saw from the previous week. Even a few days out, a loss like this is frustrating. We discuss the frustration, because one team clearly had a plan for what they wanted to do and the other didn't. Or maybe they did have a plan, but it was completely out of order. Why does the rest of the team owe Geno Smith an apology? Adam breaks down, drive-by-drive, where the fault lies in how each drive got killed. One of our long-time listeners calls in to ask what we'd need to see from Geno Smith to know when it is time to move on in the middle of the season. There is a distinction between elite, very good, and everyone else and the pieces around the player that can have an impact. With the Commanders up next, it's a get-right game and Seattle needs to show they can get the run game going. With Geno among the top quarterbacks when running play action, the best opportunity for the Seahawks to finish strong is to do it with Ken Walker and Zach Charbonnet sharing the workload. But Washington could apply pressure to this Seattle defense based on the number of offensive weapons they have. The Seahawks weren't the only NFC West team with a limited amount of offensive production this week. With their backup quarterbacks playing, the Cardinals and Rams struggled to score points. Can Sean McVay get Carson Wentz to return to his former MVP form? A curse wheel and the ex-wife of Earl Thomas need to do better.
