This is the All Local 4:00 PM update for Thursday, February 12, 2026.
Emily de Búrca, Croí na Gaeilge, tells Oliver about organising a Grá-lentines event in London.
Jon Herold opens the week with a blunt breakdown of the Super Bowl as pure bread-and-circus, questioning the cultural obsession with halftime spectacles, corporate patriotism, and distraction politics. He digs into the backlash surrounding Bad Bunny, TPUSA's alternative broadcast, and why performative culture wars fail to move the needle. From there, Jon addresses President Trump's executive order designating English as the national language and contrasts it with everyday reality. The episode also tackles a major correction to a Guardian story involving DNI Tulsi Gabbard, reframing it as a “pop-up smear” built on misrepresentation. Jon walks through renewed Epstein narratives, calls for resignations by association, and why the story continues to be weaponized. He covers looming DHS funding issues, midterm maneuvering, speculation around Iran following unusual betting activity, and the growing fatigue inside the information war. A wide-ranging, candid Monday stream focused on distraction, narrative control, and where attention is being intentionally misdirected.

In times like these, many of us are carrying more than we realize—in our bodies, our nervous systems, and our hearts. This pop-up livestream is an invitation to pause, gather, and sit with the plants together.I'll begin with a short centering practice, followed by a gentle check-in, and then I'll share a handful of herbs I'm finding especially supportive right now for stress, overwhelm, grief, anger, and exhaustion. These are plants you may already have access to, and I'll speak to them in a practical, embodied way. There will also be space for a few participants to share what they're experiencing so I can offer personalized plant spirit support. I may ask about things like hot/cold or damp/dry patterns, constitution, or invite a brief tongue observation. From there, I'll suggest one to three herbs that may be supportive in this moment.I may also draw a tarot card during the hour as a reflective tool—to offer perspective, grounding, and symbolic guidance rather than prediction. This is not a political discussion or a place for debate. It's a space for presence, nervous system care, and remembering that we don't have to carry everything alone.
Round Top is booming—boozy hats, million‑dollar farmhouses, and margaritas with chipotle pepper. Kevin Jeung (Noma / Noma Projects) calls in from LA to talk about Noma's upcoming Los Angeles pop-up and what it changes when you suddenly have citrus, avocados, and California seasonality on the table. Kevin walks through how the team is doing early-stage R&D—ingredient exploration, fermentation setup, and testing techniques for hard problems like cactus slime and variable produce.Dave detours into Denmark: Christmas market roast pork sandwiches, crackling technique, and what cut the Danes actually use (loin vs belly vs skin-on neck). They also get into Noma Projects curiosities like peach tree sap (rehydrated for a tendon-like chew), plus a few practical bar/kitchen notes: a clarified spec for the Brandy Savage cranberry cordial build, and a quick take on stabilizing acidic whipped cream (gel/fluid-gel approach vs citric acid straight into dairy). Closing beat: Kevin's Turkey method for the Noma team—compound butter under the skin, and mayo outside for browning/crisping. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
