In Part 1 of this lively discussion, our guests discuss whether using EPAs as the unit of measurement in CBME makes sense as well as the challenge of differentiating signal from noise in an assessment environment with so much data.   Length of Episode: 40 minutes   Resources to check out :  Szulewski, A., Braund, H., Dagnone, D. Back on May 8, 2009, the Wrestling 411 podcast with Kyle Klingman and Jason Bryant was running through its first (And only) season. A senior from Graham High School in Ohio named David Taylor would win the 2009 Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Taylor had signed with Iowa State, but Cael Sanderson had a few week prior left Iowa State to take over at Penn State. At the time, Taylor didn't yet know where he was publicly going to go, although most assumed he would follow Sanderson to Penn State. This interview is from during Taylor's senior year in high school. Taylor recently finished with a bronze medal at the non-Olympic world championships in Tirana, Albania, which most believe was his last competitive tournament. Taylor now takes over as the head coach at Oklahoma State. Enjoy this throwback from 2009. Want an ad-free version of the show? Fortnite has paid out roughly $500 million to creators since UEFN and Creator Economy 2.0 launched in March of 2023. These payouts, which have increased 32.5% YoY (measured from March through September), are showing no signs of slowing down. However, Fortnite Creative engagement as a proportion of total Fortnite engagement has actually declined as Epic has launched more successful modes like 'Reload.' What will it take for Epic's $500 million investment to turn into a thriving UGC ecosystem that creates more value than it costs? Where does the Fortnite economy go from here? Joining host David Taylor today are two top Fortnite creators and influencers, Chad Mustard (aka MustardPlays) and Michael Ha (aka Birdo).MustardPlays has accumulated over 900K followers on Youtube with his Fortnite Creative content, and his company JOGO Studios, which he co-founded with TypicalGamer, is the 4th most popular game on Fortnite at the time of recording. Birdo created a Fortnite-focused TikTok following of over 2M. He then hit it big with Minigame Box PvP, which has been played for 5 billion minutes or 1% of all Fortnite Creative time since the release of UEFN in March 2023.We'd also like to thank Heroic Labs for making this episode possible! Welcome to The Not Old Better Show, Smithsonian Associates Interview Series. I'm your host, Paul Vogelzang, and today we have a fascinating episode lined up for you. We're delighted to have returning guest, Smithsonian Associate David Taylor with us, an acclaimed author and co-producer of the Smithsonian documentary film, “Soul of a People: The WPA Writers' Project Uncovers Depression America.” David is here to share his insights on his upcoming Smithsonian Associates Walking Tour, titled ‘New Deal Projects Walking Tour,' on the New Deal, a transformative period in American history that not only aimed to revive the economy but also left an indelible mark on the arts and culture.Against the backdrop of the Great Depression, President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal was a bold initiative to use government resources to address crucial public services and stimulate economic growth. Yet, Roosevelt himself predicted that in a hundred years, the New Deal would be remembered more for its contributions to the arts than its job relief efforts. Today, we'll explore that intriguing prediction through David's expertise and his engaging walking tour of Washington, D.C.Smithsonian Associate David Taylor will take us on a journey through time, beginning at Judiciary Square, where we'll see public sculptures and dramatic courthouse bas reliefs by notable artists like John Gregory. Our route includes the Henry F. Daly Building, a prime example of Classical Moderne architecture funded by the Works Progress Administration, and the Federal Trade Commission Building, adorned with monumental Art Deco sculptures created by WPA artists. We'll also discuss the renovations of the National Mall and Washington Monument, pivotal projects of the New Deal era. We'll conclude our exploration at the Department of the Interior, home to over 40 New Deal-era murals and photomurals by the legendary Ansel Adams. Smithsonian Associate David Taylor's walking touroffers a unique opportunity to discover these still-visible landmarks and learn about their historical and cultural significance. So, put on your walking shoes and get ready to delve into the rich artistic legacy of the New Deal with our distinguished guest, Smithsonian Associate David Taylor. Join us now for an enlightening conversation on The Not Old Better Show, Smithsonian Associates Interview Series. My thanks to David Taylor and his upcoming Smithsonian Associates Walking Tour, titled ‘New Deal Projects Walking Tour,' on the New Deal, a transformative period in American history that not only aimed to revive the economy but also left an indelible mark on the arts and culture.  My thanks to you our wonderful audience here on The Not Old Better Show Science Interview Series on radio and podcast.  My thanks to Executive Producer Sam Heninger for all his work on audio and making things run smoothly here on the show.  Please be well, be safe and Let's Talk About Better ™.  The Not Old Better Show Science Interview Series on radio and podcast.
