What does it take to be an effective leader despite the overwhelming challenges the world gives us? Welcome to another mashup, where we bring together some of the best critical points brought by my guests. In today's episode, we feature the answers of Shari Foos and Dr. Sean Hall. Listen in as they answer the questions - Who is your favorite leader and why? What does leadership change? In this episode: Shari Foos discusses how Nelson Mandela did the impossible and how creating the foundation of faith and trust is essential. Despite our differences, there are ways to appreciate other human beings and uphold the virtue of humanity in whatever we do. Shari shares her thoughts on the origins of having the feeling of defensiveness and feeling not good enough. Dr. Sean Hall tackles his many favorite leaders. He believes that each leader can teach you specific lessons. Sometimes, a fresh set of eyes can give the feedback you need. That can be more valuable than anything else. Despite hurdles such as COVID-19, leaders must determine how to remain agile and refrain from giving excuses. Key Takeaways: The notion of power and influence goes beyond motivation Everyone has empathy, and we must use and receive it To feel one's strength, the vulnerable side should be acknowledged The guilt and shame you are feeling may not be yours The journey to authentic leadership is deep and meaningful Aggressively step forward despite hurdles to pivot Tweetable Quotes: "The whole notion about what is power, what is a positive influence, what gets us motivated and going, is now coming from a far more sophisticated understanding not just of what motivates us, but of what it means to be human.” - Shari Foos “If you want to lead, people need to believe in you. When they stopped believing in you is when they stopped following.” - Dr. Sean Hall Reach out to Denis: Email: denis@leadingchangepartners.com Website: http://www.leadingchangepartners.com/ (http://www.leadingchangepartners.com/) Leadership Is Changing Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/LeadershipIsChanging/ (https://www.facebook.com/groups/LeadershipIsChanging/) Leadership is Changing LinkedIn Page: https://www.linkedin.com/company/leadership-is-changing-podcast/ (https://www.linkedin.com/company/leadership-is-changing-podcast/)

Key Takeaways: To get people to buy into your vision you need to stay authentic Balance progression with clear communication Know what you know, know what you don't know, trial it, improve it Good leaders recognize their weaknesses and rise to the challenge If people stop believing in you, they will stop following you We need good leaders to question why we do things to help move us forward Tweetable Quotes: “It doesn't matter the team you put together - they need to understand ‘why' and ‘how,' and there is no direct part on the how.” - Dr. Sean Hall “Leadership now is more about knowing what you know, knowing what you don't know, trialing it, and improving it.” - Dr. Sean Hall “If you want to lead, people need to believe in you. If they stop believing in you, they stop following. Being an authentic leader probably is the deepest and most meaningful lesson I've had.” - Dr. Sean Hall Connect with Dr. Hall by emailing sean_hall@medlab.co with the subject: Heard you on Denis's show. If you're limping towards the end of 2021, in need of some recharging and downtime, this is the podcast for you. This is an extremely insightful conversation with a professional whose superpower is helping humans and workplaces slay the energy vampires that cause burnout, crush creativity and stifle inclusion. We discuss the elusive concept of balance and Sean talks us through three very specific practices to put in place to set boundaries and manage our energy. Listeners are encouraged to document how they will implement boundaries to manage: Technology and email: what time you'll put devices away and when you'll pick them up again, and when you'll open your first email of the day and what time you'll send the last one. Social media and news: approach social like you're joining for the first time and deciding how to use it, including only engaging with positive forces (no energy vampires). Decide how often and when you'll consume news and avoid 'doom scrolling'. People's access to you: embrace your chronotype (what most people understand as being an early bird versus a night owl) and share this information with colleagues. Protect your optimal deep flow working time in your diary and ask your team mates and respect those boundaries. As I round out a second year in my beloved Melbourne, when we became the most locked down city on the globe and we hopefully farewell home schooling forever, I was really energised by this conversation. It has given me lots of food for thought, which I plan to noodle over while I'm having a summer break. I hope that you feel similarly inspired. Thanks for sticking with #KatieTalks over this most frenetic of years, wishing you a wonderful festive season and I look forward to being back in your ears in 2022. Hosted by Katie Bennett-Stenton, who you can find at @KatiebMarketing on Twitter or Katie@bennett-stenton.com. Disclaimer this podcast is a personal passion project, not associated with my professional role.

Ever wish you had more energy? Or wonder why you're so tired? In this episode Sean Hall introduces us to seven ‘energy crisis indicators' or ECIs, that are likely to be depleting your energy. Cumulatively, these surprisingly everyday indicators have resulted in a human ‘energy crisis' of epidemic proportions. Our health, happiness, and the economy are suffering, and it's impacting our ability to drive social change. After researching the root cause, Sean created the skill of ‘energy intelligence' or ‘ExIQ'. In this talk he shows how this can help us, practically and immediately, find more energy for what matters. To watch the full video go to https://www.ted.com/talks/sean_hall_how_to_have_more_energy_jan_2017 #Shimmyaday

How To Have More Energy This is the first in a 6 part series looking at various facets of wellness. It's a topic that has come up in conversation on a number of my recent podcasts and feedback suggests that people don't feel especially comfortable talking about it at work. So we're doing just that! First in the series is a fascinating conversation with Sean Hall whom you may well know from his Tedx talk about How To Have More Energy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPp6RovIvxs Sean is the Founder of Energx. This is one of the most inspiring conversations that I've had this year and I talk to lots of interesting people! You'll learn what life hacking is and how very easily you can increase your energy 30%. I challenge you to introduce me to a person who doesn't find that appealing. Sean talks us through the energy crisis indicators including: · A lack of meaning in what we're doing, or a lack of purpose · Feeling overwhelmed · Negative self-talk · Waking up tired · Emotional regulation, being stressed and irritated at little things · Feeling disconnected, lonely, isolated More importantly we talk about solutions to these issues. This is a long listen but I promise it's worth the time.

Private investigation may not have always been in the cards for Sean Hall but interest in the field and fate brought the U.S. Air Force veteran to where he is today. Cases such as insurance fraud, child custody, infidelity, stalking, and even high-profile cases like investigating the church of Scientology makes him one busy man.
