Sinema Kulübü'müzün 16ıncı buluşmasında yönetmenliğini Gus Van Sant'in yaptığı, başrollerinde Matt Damon, Robin Williams ve Ben Affleck'in oynadıkları 1997 yılı yapımı Good Will Hunting filmini konuştuk. Türkçe'ye Can Dostum olarak çevrildi. Will'in kilidini açacak olan ise Sean Maguire yani Robin Williams olur. Bu bölümde görüşlerine yer verebildiğim arkadaşlarım(02:42) Yelda Erdoğan, (04:35) Yasemin Karakaya Arslan, (06:54) Elif Burcu Yılmaz, (09:32) Seda Diril Boyraz, (11:20) Mete Yurtsever ve Sezgin İldeş, (12:16) Özden Duymaz, (12:59) Yasemin Karakaya Arslan, (14:17) Sezgin İldeş, (17:23) Yelda Erdoğan, (20:37) Yasemin Karakaya Arslan, (23:27) Sezgin İldeşSupport the show

Maverick and his co-host Avalon review Good Will Hunting from 1997. They discuss the character development of Will Hunting, the protagonist of the film, and his journey of self-exploration. They highlight the compelling motive of Will's character, which is to avoid going to jail. They also discuss the pivotal role of Sean, the psychologist, in challenging Will's perspective and helping him confront his own insecurities. The hosts note the lack of a clear antagonist in the film and the absence of high tension, but emphasize the engaging and intelligent conversations between Will and Sean. Overall, they find the film to be a compelling exploration of character growth. Good Will Hunting is a multi-layered film that explores themes of potential, personal growth, and the choices we make in life. The main character, Will Hunting, is a genius with a troubled past who is torn between settling for a comfortable life or pursuing his full potential. The film also delves into the importance of relationships and the impact they can have on our lives. The characters of Sean, Lambeau, and Skylar all play significant roles in Will's journey of self-discovery. The film's enduring relevance lies in its message of using our gifts and talents to make a positive impact on the world.----------Highlights:0:00 “Good Will Hunting” Introduction5:01 Does Character Growth Fit the 9 Points?12:42 Will Hunting's Character28:03 Lord of the Rings versus A Christmas Carol38:31 Sean Maguire47:43 Skylar54:12 Themes and Messages58:30 The Future of this Film----------Show Notes:9 Points Rating System: https://www.alostplot.com/9-points/Lord of the Rings, the Return of the King Review: https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/maverick51411/episodes/2024-03-06T18_00_00-08_00 #goodwillhunting #classicfilm #mattdamon #benaffleck #alostplot #filmthoughts #selfexploration #psychology #psychologist #robbinwilliams #selfdiscovery #charactergrowth #characterdevelopment #characterarc

Good Will Hunting has been a movie on the Born to Watch radar for some time. Gow had it in his Top 10 List and as the scholar of the team, it easy to see why. Written and starring two up and coming superstars, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and with a incredible performance by Robin Williams, Good Will Hunting is life changing movie experience.Released in 1997, "Good Will Hunting" directed by Gus Van Sant is a poignant and emotionally charged drama that explores the transformative journey of a brilliant young man, Will Hunting, portrayed incredibly by Matt Damon. The film delves deep into themes of self-discovery, friendship, love, and the importance of embracing one's potential. With a stellar cast, a captivating script, and masterful performances, "Good Will Hunting" remains a timeless classic that continues to resonate with audiences across generations. The story revolves around Will Hunting, a janitor at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), who has a troubled past and an uncanny ability to solve complex mathematical equations. Unbeknownst to many, Will is a self-taught mathematical genius with a troubled and traumatic upbringing that hinders him from realizing his true potential. His life takes a significant turn when he is reluctantly forced to seek help after assaulting a police officer.Robin Williams delivers a powerful and emotionally charged performance as Dr. Sean Maguire, a caring and insightful therapist assigned to counsel Will as part of a plea deal. Through their interactions, a beautiful mentor-student relationship develops, where Dr. Maguire gently guides Will towards confronting his emotional barriers and unlocking his brilliance.Matt Damon's portrayal of Will Hunting is nothing short of exceptional. He skillfully captures the essence of a deeply wounded and conflicted individual, struggling to reconcile his extraordinary intellect with his troubled past. Damon's authenticity and raw emotion make the character relatable and endearing, drawing viewers into Will's journey of self-discovery.Equally noteworthy is Ben Affleck's performance as Chuckie Sullivan, Will's loyal best friend and construction worker. Affleck brings a genuine charm to his character, demonstrating the unwavering loyalty and support that is crucial to Will's growth. The chemistry between Damon and Affleck on screen is palpable, reflecting their real-life friendship, and it elevates the film's emotional impact. The movie's exploration of the human psyche and the complexities of relationships is masterfully balanced with moments of humor and tenderness. The witty and sharp dialogue, co-written by Damon and Affleck, adds depth to the characters, making them more relatable and authentic. The film's intimate portrayal of friendship, love, and the importance of facing one's past resonates deeply with viewers, making it more than just a story about a genius overcoming his challenges.Another standout aspect of "Good Will Hunting" is its portrayal of Boston as a character itself. The film showcases the vibrant cityscape, capturing its working-class ethos, and the struggles and triumphs of its inhabitants. The setting becomes an integral part of the narrative, complementing the characters' journey and adding a distinct sense of place to the overall experience. The soundtrack, composed by Danny Elfman, beautifully complements the film's emotional moments, enhancing the storytelling with its evocative melodies. The music helps reinforce the emotional depth of the characters and adds an extra layer of poignancy to their struggles and growth. One of the film's most memorable scenes involves Dr. Maguire's monologue about life experiences. Robin Williams' poignant delivery of lines like, "You'll have bad times, but it'll always wake you up to the good stuff you weren't paying attention to," leaves a lasting impact on viewers and serves as a reminder of life's inherent complexities.Despite its many strengths, "Good Will Hunting" does have some minor flaws. Some viewers might find the pacing slow at times, as the film places a heavy emphasis on character development and emotional exploration. Additionally, the love story between Will and Skylar (played by Minnie Driver) feels somewhat underdeveloped, lacking the depth of other relationships in the film.In conclusion, "Good Will Hunting" is an emotionally charged and thought-provoking drama that leaves a profound impact on its audience. Through its exceptional performances, touching storytelling, and memorable dialogue, the film offers an intimate and heartfelt exploration of human potential, healing, and the power of genuine connections. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's screenplay, paired with Gus Van Sant's skillful direction, creates a timeless masterpiece that continues to resonate with viewers even years after its release. "Good Will Hunting" remains a must-watch film that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of love, friendship, and self-discovery.Please follow the Podcast and join our community at https://linktr.ee/borntowatchpodcast If you are looking to start a podcast and want a host or get guests to pipe in remotely, look no further than Riverside.fmClick the link below https://riverside.fm/?utm_campaign=campaign_1&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=rewardful&via=matthew

This month, a commission that decides salaries for the Alaska Legislature, the governor and top state officials voted to give all of them a significant raise. If the proposal goes through, state lawmakers could receive a 67% pay raise, alongside a roughly 20% raise for the governor and his cabinet. It happened in a 15-minute meeting – with a commission that had been entirely replaced by the governor just days before. Now, some members of the public — and lawmakers themselves — are raising questions about that process.Host Elizabeth Harball talks to ADN reporters Iris Samuels and Sean Maguire to help explain how it happened – and what happens next. For more local and state news, subscribe to the Anchorage Daily News today. This episode of ADN Politics is sponsored by SteamDot Coffee.

This week, Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy rolled out a “parental rights” bill that would put new limits on sex education in schools and prevent transgender students from using bathrooms that align with their gender identity, among other measures. Christian conservatives are welcoming the bill, while a Democratic lawmaker immediately branded it “the most divisive piece of legislation” the Legislature could hear this year. It swiftly drew comparisons to so-called “bathroom bills” being debated in other states. In this episode, host Elizabeth Harball speaks to ADN reporters Iris Samuels and Sean Maguire about the details of the governor's proposal and how it impacts the broader debate over increasing funding for Alaska's public schools. For more local and state news, subscribe to the Anchorage Daily News today. This episode of ADN Politics is sponsored by SteamDot Coffee.

Doctor Who: the World Enough and Time podcast

Is it hot in here or are we just in a parallel universe? Andy & Alex uncover sexual metaphor aplenty as they grab Greg's huge pipe, experience a dodgy flange, and get all angry (and hairy) as they reach Penetration Zero. To say nothing of Benton drilling his troops. Yes, its Inferno, that highly-regarded Season 7 story which warns of the dangers of fracking, patriarchal arrogance, and of smearing green goo on your face. The pair agree that there is much to enjoy here but both declare that unlike parallel Liz, Greg and Petra they wouldn't risk their lives to save parallel Andy and Alex. As Alex succinctly puts it: ‘Parallel Alex can go f*** herself!' They also muse that a better name for the project would have been the 'Entirely Safe' project rather than 'Inferno'! They also discover that Stahlman means Man of Steel, that giant name badges are very much on trend, and that Doctor Who is very good at chronicling society's changing relationship with computers. See! We can be serious sometimes. Elsewhere we find out that Louise Jameson has taken up shitsu massage (or is that shiatsu?) and the Time Space Visualiser is on the brink. All this and Sean Maguire and Lulu too. Quiet at the back, Alex is undertaking a complex scientific task! Next Time: The Hand of Fear
