1. Christina taught today about the relationship between place, YHWH, and Israel. She suggested that the land is a co-partner in the covenant between Israel and YHWH, and taught us that part of the significance of the land is that “the land is the place that Israel existswithGod.” With that as background, Dr. Bohn asked, “What does it look like to co-partner with the land as Israel did?” She asked what it would be like if we saw the land not as a space to pass through or own, but instead as a place in which to partner with the land and with Israel. Reflect on these ideas and questions and discuss your thoughts with the group. Have you ever considered the role of the land in the covenant? In the relationship between God's people and God? How does this idea sit for you? What thoughts does it prompt for you?2. Christina shared a quote from Willie Jennings: “Owning can never be a way of belonging.” What's your initial response to this idea? What surfaces as you consider it specifically related to land? With the concept of being a “landowner” so prominent in the political and social history of our country, what would it mean to stop thinking of ourselves as potential landowners, and instead as people in covenant relationship with the land? What does that shift and mean for you or your neighbors, whether your homeowners, renters, experiencing homelessness, or in another situation? 3. Christina also talked about rootlessness and its relationship to space, place, and the land. What does it mean to be rootless? She shared a quote from Walter Brueggemann: “it is rootlessness, not meaninglessness, that defines us.”What do you think this quote means? What's Brueggemann identifying about our experiences in life? How true does it ring for you? What's the wisdom to take away from this idea if we're looking at places in our own life that may feel meaningless? Could the idea of the land and our relationship with it factor in here? If so, how?

Adam Bohn's young life consisted of constant moving. His mom went from place to place often living in difficult circumstances. When he was 7 he finally found stability in rural Wisconsin as his mom married the only father he ever knew. However 5 years tragedy struck and he was gone. His next years were even more difficult and in spite of his athletic prowess, he found him self drowning his sorrows in substance abuse. Two stints in prison the death of his mother who overdosed and a patient and loving wife brought him to himself. He now lives a life of sobriety using his artistic abilities in a viable trade. His story will definitely touch your heart. Finally, she dives into her most important piece of wisdom: how showing up day in and day out even for the mundane things is the key to real results. On Episode 43 (and yes it is 43 no matter what we claim in the podcast), we have a fantastic conversation with Aledo ISD Superintendent Dr. Susan Bohn. We discuss her history and background and the challenges she found when she arrived at AISD. We also get into all of the things that make Aledo schools special and exceptional, plus the current challenges facing the district. We also get to know her a little better - what she does in her (minimal) free time and how she deals with the stress of the job. Thanks Dr. Bohn for the chat!
Pinch me I must be dreaming! In this episode, I sat down with the talented Karin Bohn, who has truly been an inspiration for a number of goals I've tackled and achieved over the years - from my YouTube to my community of designers to this very podcast! Within this part 1 of our conversation we talk in depth about how Karin started her interior design business in Vancouver, what propelled her to create her incredibly successful YouTube channel, the uphill work of building an audience and how she tackled the necessary downsizing of her team after lots of trial and error and finally listening to her own intuition. Like me, you'll be blown away by her wisdom; especially her insight that the external does not equal happiness, and that sometimes when life forces us to slow down for an even better reason! This is only part one of two but is already overflowing spectacular stories, boatloads of encouragement and advice in its own right. Stay tuned for Part 2 next week where we dive into her experience with her Netflix show and her adventure into motherhood! A Sunday Conversation with Amy Bohn - Protection of the Educational Rights of Kids (PERK)
(Special note: Today we have a special replay of this bonus episode of The Good Money Podcast.) Bohn Crain is the first student to make a debut on the podcast and he's a college senior at Dallas Baptist University. Bohn was referred to me by my business attorney who told me a story about a young man that his son met at college. He said Bohn set a goal of meeting one new person a day. And I thought that was amazing. Today, Bohn talks about how he came up with this idea, the power of meeting and connecting with people, and an honest look at how that goal has paid off. Plus, Bohn shares how he feels misunderstood by people and how he's constantly working to reinvent himself. Which doesn't stop when you become an adult! If you know a teenager who is struggling to make meaningful connections with adults or their friends, send this episode to them. Or maybe you've faced a lot of rejection recently and could use a pep talk to put yourself out there again. Bohn's going to encourage and motivate you to get back in the game. Because sometimes, it all starts with simply saying hi to the person next to you. Connect with Bohn HERE.
