Sportable will host the Virginia Adaptive Sports Festival in Henrico County this October, bringing the largest exposition of adaptive sports, recreational opportunities, and wellness for people with disabilities in the East Coast to the county. The River City Slam Wheelchair Tennis Tournament, an annual event that brings together the top wheelchair tennis players from 22 states and five countries, is underway at Collegiate School's Robins Campus in Henrico. The tournament, which is hosted by Richmond-based adaptable sports club Sportable, runs June 6-9 and is free for spectators to attend. Sportable and NOVA of Virginia Aquatics have announced a partnership designed to make competitive swimming accessible and inclusive. The new program will provide adaptive swim instruction and competitive opportunities for Sportable members at the NOVA Aquatics Center – Regency. Brandon Rush became paralyzed at the age of 14 as the result of a biking accident. He was introduced to the sport of wheelchair basketball during his rehab and hasn't looked back since. Not only did Brandon play throughout high school but also played the sport at the collegiate level and beyond. Today, he is still active with the same Charlottesville Cardinals team but also coaches a team at Sportable, a Move United member organization based in Richmond, VA.

The panel took place on May 18 and kicked off Dominion Energy Riverrock. A screening of the film ‘Adventure is for Everyone,' took place before the panel, and was mentioned several times during the discussion.
