From the Crown Prince's Five-Point Strategy for supporting grassroots resistance in Iran, to the growing wave of trucker strikes disrupting the regime's infrastructure, to his reflections on cultural censorship and Jafar Panahi's win at Cannes, to his fiercest detractors - this is a candid, honest, and wide-ranging discussion. Also on the table: legacy, identity, personal loss, criticism, exile, and the emotional toll of four decades of upheaval. Subtitled in Persian for global accessibility.

Fränz Hausemer created Terre Rouge, a documentary about Gaston Rollinger. which will be screened at the Luxembourg Film Festival on March 14. The film focuses on Gaston, a Luxembourgish poet and filmmaker, whose life and work left a lasting impression on Fränz. Their first encounter was when Fränz was just eight years old, watching Gaston film a documentary about his father. This experience ignited Franz's passion for filmmaking, leading him to reconnect with Gaston years later when he was living in seclusion, surrounded only by books and film reels. Terre Rouge is named after an old steel factory in Esch, near Gaston's home. The documentary explores Gaston's poetry, which Fränz describes as simple yet profound, deeply rooted in working-class experiences and the landscape of Luxembourg's south. The film also captures Gaston's decline over six years of filming, touching on themes of aging, loss, and the passage of time, all central elements in Gaston's poetry. Fränz hopes the documentary will offer viewers a glimpse into Luxembourg's cultural heritage and Gaston's unique artistic voice. Subtitled in English and French, it makes Luxembourgish poetry accessible to a wider audience.

In this free podcast from the POST Wrestling Café, Karen Peterson (POST Puroresu) and JP Houlihan (GRAPPL Spotlight) review Netflix's The Queen of the Villains, the historical dramatic presentation of the rise of Dump Matsumoto. The series focuses on the evolution of Kaoru Matsumoto, a young wrestling hopeful to one of the most hated wrestlers in Japan. Kaoru's turbulent home life, the meteoric rise of The Crush Gals, the machinations of the Matsunaga Brothers, and the toxic hierarchical dojo culture all feed into the powder keg that propels Matsumoto into darkness.Karen and JP also discuss the stereotypes and expectations of women in Japanese society, entertainment, and sports, taking off the wrestling fan hat and viewing the series from a casual viewer perspective, the involvement of Chigusa Nagayo and the MARVELOUS wrestlers in the training of the talent, as well as idol culture, parasocialism, approaching the series from the times of the 70's and 80's, and the complicated ties of wrestling to the entertainment industry. ----------Watch this podcast: https://youtu.be/urggaio0Gs4----------Recommended MediaTransformed Bodies and Gender: Experiences of Women Pro-Wrestlers in Japan - By Dr. Keiko Aiba, Meiji Gakuin University, Union Press (2017)Sisterhood of the Squared Circle: The History and Rise of Women's Wrestling - By Pat Laprade & Dan Murphy (2017)Articles and DocumentariesThe Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer *Subscription requiredAll Japan Women Out of Business (April 4, 2005)*Takashi Matsunaga Dies (July 20, 2009)*GAEA Girls Documentary (2000; Subtitled) by Kim Longiotto & Jano WilliamsNetflix JP Documentary on Queen of the VillainsAdditional Show Notes & Recommendations in Dream Slam Monthly. Punch Magazine published its first edition on 17th July, 1841. Subtitled ‘the London Charivari', the weekly periodical aimed to carve a niche in the market with less crude and bawdy satire compared to its contemporaries.  Its early days were challenging, with poor circulation and financial troubles. But, as it gained in popularity and influence, it contributed the modern use of the word "cartoon" to the English language - alongside some excellent examples of the form, thanks in large part to illustrator John Leech - before its downfall in the second half of the twentieth century. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly explain how Punch innovated the idea of the Christmas annual; explore how they gave big breaks to the likes of John Betjeman, Sylvia Plath, and P.G. Wodehouse; and discover Mohammed Al-Fayed's attempts to turn the publication's fortunes around…  Further Reading: • ‘The first issue of Punch' (History Today, 2016): https://www.historytoday.com/archive/months-past/first-issue-punch • ‘About Punch Magazine' (PUNCH Magazine Cartoon Archive): https://magazine.punch.co.uk/about/index • 'Punch Magazine' (British Pathé, 1962): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ACJhyygIxU Love the show? Surely, you've seen the 1980 disaster-movie parody, Airplane! But, have you seen it recently? (And don't call us "Shirley.") Written and directed by David and Jerry Zucker and Jim Abrahams, the movie was a major hit thanks to all kinds of comedy: surreal and slapstick, sight gags and puns, and more than its share of scatalogical humor. But now, decades later, is any of this a laughing matter? A pedo-pervy pilot? A young girl in need of a transplant? Subtitled jive-talking passengers? They're just a few of the characters being looked at again, this time, through a middle-aged lens. The Old Roommates grab their one-way tickets and give it all a rewatch.
